Lua are you over there already? How did the flight go?

My nephew in China has disgraced himself by swallowing a ball-bearing, his mum is not looking forward to trying to ascertain its re-emergence into daylight if you know what I mean!

Both of the older two boys in that wing of the family also recently disgraced themselves by being terrified of the elephants which were a major selling point on their holiday to Thailand. Whilst other children happily went up and fed the elephants bananas and had rides on their backs, my nephews cowered under the table and cried.

Sky - hope you enjoy your mum's visit!

hello everyone

have been taking advantage of dh being home till the 3rdto catch up on study, much needed.
we are about to start the project 'loose some lard' after the excesses of christmas.

my family were due to visit over the weekend but my sisters ward came down with a severe outbreak of gastroenteritis so she is staying away, not good for little poppets. still waiting to hear if the others are ok since they met up over christmas and might also be affected.
anyway had already bought extra foos and drink so i guess the above mentioned project shall have to be delayed.

hope you all well, btw when is the first baby due? sometime in late feb?

So how many extraordinarily irritating noisy pieces of plastic tat did your Junies all get? We're regretting the day we ever mentioned that ds likes tractors - apart from the sit on (and silent!) John Deere we got him, he got THREE other extremely noisy tractors and one (thankfully quiet) digger. And a tractor book. And a tractor DVD. And that's not even going near the farm animal things he got. Ah well, he's happy, even if dh and I are going slowly out of our minds
Hope you all had a great time, and that your lo's managed to get some sleep (especially older siblings!) and that there weren't too many bugs about.
327 miles, Trib hope you've recovered
SFX - only 3 weeks on sunday - always assuming this one isn't as late as its brother was. I really ought to get my hospital bag packed...

Evening All,

Hope everyone had a lovely christmas.Ours was nice and quiet(apart from Ds),which made a nice change.
Yes,we got plenty of brightly coloured plastic, but also lots of books and a few wooden toys which were nice.
2Happy-lol at the tractors.Ds also got a tractor but only the one and it doesn't make a noise, unlike a VERY annoying Fimbles radio which is so loud and cannot be turned off.As soon as it's picked up it sings...or shrieks at you, should I say!
Wow...only 3 weeks left.I've still got 16 weeks to go,but look like I've only got 3 weeks left,hee hee.
Hope everyone is well and if I don't get another chance before the weekend, then I'd like to wish you all a very happy and healthy new year.xxx

Hey everyone.
Happy New Year!!!
We had wonderful festivities here for Xmas with my Mum and stepdad and with my Dad and stepmum in Kent for New Year. Took dd1 to see Snow White at Panto on NYE while Daddy looked after dd2. Was great fun starring Chris from Cbeebies lol. DD1 told me who he was from the poster.

Hiya all,

A bit late to be joining new - but only discovered MN with #2 due early April. We're based Southampton but I'm originally from Rawtenstall (with family in Bury, N.Manc) and dh from Newton Ferrers, Devon
At least we've got the Xmas grand tour of the country out of the way and pre-arranged NOT doing it next year although our lo was ever so good about the long car journeys North and then to Plymouth (the Plymouth Soton leg doesn't count as a long journey!)

Just a quick Q - when are people considering potty training - as I can see it getting glossed over in the stress of having the new arrival as ds hits 2 at same time! He's started telling me and holding his nappy when he's having a wee, or will say if he's done a poo already you see ....

hi there and welcome
things are a bit quiet on this thread now the LO are a bit bigger.
we bought a potty just before christmas but just for dd to get used to having it around, i have no plans to start until the weather warms up. still thinking if i should just get seat for the toilet, the idea of cleaning potty does not appeal.
and and we are in london with family up north so some travel at christmas too

Hello Girt and Welcome!
I have a dd1 who will be 4 in March and dd2 who is 2 in June (obviously). We potty trained dd1 after the new baby arrived even though she seemed ready before. I was glad we waited as I think she would have played up wetting etc when the baby arrived. She chose to need the toilet every time I latched dd2 on as it was . DD2 is able to tell me that she has done a poo but isn't at all consistent so I would expect to try with her at about 2.5 ish, maybe a bit before...
However they are all different and I have a friend whose dd is the same age as ours and already uses her big brothers potty before the bath etc . I think Giddy's dd2 was doing something similar too. Hopefully she might be along soon. You could always try and see. It won't matter if you stop and try again a few months later. The inevitable accidents are a pia though .
