Evening! . Just going up to bed, but thought I should let L&S know that yes, I have received my text, many thanks . (Have no idea how to 'text', or would have sent one back. Rodeo can confirm my ineptitude!! .
Will try and catch up over the next few days - have been suffering a bit in the sleep deprivation dept. DD2 up to her usual tricks!! .

novadandypowder · 04/12/2006 11:04

Right, was about to post yesterday but noo had other ideas!

A belated Happy Birthday to Z

My secret santa gift has been purchased, wrapped, and will be sent shortly, efficient xmas shopper that I am [more smugness].

Well, saturday night was FABULOUS!!!!!!!! A comedy of errors though, here is my step by step account..
Friend arrives an hour later than she was hoping due to traffic, then realises she's left her dress back in Romsey. She is a 6ft beanpole, I most certainly am not, but we managed to scrabble around and find something for her to wear.
I forget to start dinner, so we eat a bit later, but DH is late getting back from paintball so we couldn't have started getting ready anyway as noo was refusing to be put down.
We have 10mins to get ready, and in the middle of this I hear 'we've had an accident!' from the bathroom and run in to find DH in a panic and noo with a split lip after falling over in the bath. After I sort this out, I have even less time to get ready, but I'm not really that bothered as I figure we'll be sat right at the back and no-one will see us anyway.
Finally get there and have to walk up red carpet, which I really hate doing. As if to add insult to injury someone in the waiting crowd shouts out 'we don't know who you are' - nice.
Have fun celeb spotting and marking outfits out of 10, whilst enjoying a swift glass of champers.
We go to take our seats and collapse in laughter as we realise we are in the middle of the second row, slap bang in the middle of all the celebs.
We really really wish we'd spent more time getting ready and were wearing something nicer.
The show is AMAZING.
Get into the aftershow party and start to flag as I can't find any seats, but we want to hang around and see the boys.
Go out to the toilets just as the boys happen to be coming in and brush Howards arm .
On the wat back in I get collared by a girl who asks if I remember her. I don't. Apparently I used to work with her on RI:SE, but anyway she takes us over to a sofa area (hoorah) where Sid Owen promptly gets up and offers us his seat. He wins nicest celeb of the evening.
I get to catch up on lots of girlie chat with my friend whilst getting served yummy canapes (and what would have been a never ending supply of booze if I was drinking), then we get joined by Sara Cox and her mate on the sofa.
As we stand up to leave, Peter Kay and the actor from Max & Paddy whose name I don't know, walk past and start talking to my friend because she is tall.
We finally get home at 1am!!!!
I watched the show yesterday and am quite relieved to discover that you can only see a very fleeting glimpse of me during the final song.

And, the friend who came with me gave me over £700 worth of maternity clothes as her business has just failed and she's been able to write off the stock.

Phew, thats probably a long one.

PS - noo has also taken a couple of steps.

SiLondonernight · 04/12/2006 12:03

Wow Nova, what a great post! Lucky you! Hope Noo's lip is okay today & you manage some rest. But how on earth are you going to decide what to wear?

ChaCha, so lovely to hear all about Zayn's Birthday, what a cutie. at rellies forgetting him but no matter when he has such devoted loving parents.

Beks - that sounds like the perfect Sunday, good on you!

Diege - really hope you had a good night last night, any idea what the problem is or is it the non-specific "I need you" variety?

L&S thanks so much for organising our Secret pressie giving.

Well, utterly, utterly traumatised here I'm afraid as ds2 has gone off on his school trip and won't be back 'til Friday afternoon, and is non-contactable. As you can imagine I feel quite nauseous and am feeling increadibly anxious, I hope he's okay. I hope he really enjoys himself. I want him back but know I am being irrational(sp?).

"Bring my baby BAAAAAAAAACK!"

Actually I'm not sure about the hat.........

Beksmum · 04/12/2006 12:37

Hello

Londoner, where has ds2 gone then? Can understand your anxiety, but today might be awful, tomorrow will be better, Wednesday will be fab - ds2 who?, Thursday you may start missing him again and then it will be Friday, when he comes home with a mountain of washing and you'll wish he'd been gone for 2 weeks instead

Nova sounds like you had a great night in the end, well done Noo on the walking.
I'm with you secret santa pressie bought but not yet wrapped, will send it next week I think.

Chahca sorry the carrier is a bit grubby, should survive a wash in the machine I think, did have it wrapped in a bag but the builders grime seems to have got everywhere.

Why is it that when it all goes quiet you know they are up to mischief, while typing this Tom has just pulled everything out of my wardrobe, including bags of xmas pressies, lucky he doesn't realise isn't it

Like the new emoticons, not sure about the f in front though, brings up a different word to festive in my vocabulary

Have had a quiet day here today, lots to do but just can't be bothered, will have to get motivated sooner or later I suppose.

Hope you're all having a good day Beks

Helloo All !
Nova - very envious of you now! even sat and watched it with dh, going ooh wonder if thats Nova, oh, no, maybe that's her! I was looking completely in the wrong place though, so it def wasn't!

L&S - I got my text, thanks.

Did we decide what to do about writing on the labels? "lots of love from your MN Santa?" or something.....
Had a quick peek today, but got confused, and stressed! so gave up! (how rubbish is that!) So unfortunately, my little secret babe is presentless at this point in time, but don't worry, will get the elves onto it pdq!

Last night at Brownies tomorrow, should be manic! We have 5 enrollments, and the end of term Xmas entertainment! It could be a total disaster if last week was anything to go by!!!! but hey ho, as I stand up infront of them all each time, I smile to myself as I say, if it all goes wrong, don't worry, your parents will all love you regardless, and we do too!

Anyway, think Thomas has another couple of teeth coming - he has been drooling for ENgland today! and he is definitely of the mountain goat variety - found him sat in the shower cubicle the other morning - in his sleepsuit, wet bum, legs, feet!!!! cool as you like, cheeky grin on his little face!

Belated Birthday to Zayn hope it was a memorable day!

ChaCha · 04/12/2006 20:37

Hello everyone

Nova - Sounds like you had a great night out and how lucky on the maternity wear! I must find a friend in the maternity wear business, he hee!

Rodeo - Like your Christmas name. Oh poor Jess, keep us updated on what they're planning to do next. She's okay though right?

Beks - Carrier is great, i forgot to mention it in my appraisal of book and card! LOL at the 'when it goes quiet' time. Z is forever climbing onto sofa, pulling curtains, pointing outside and saying 'look' followed by daghoodi, daghay (new vocab) and trying to get the phone. I do worry as i've seen him almost fall backwards in excitment. This morning he found sweets in my bag in the form of strawberry laces and couldn't believe his luck. Can't begin to describe how he looked as he was stood there with all the sugar off the lace, legs going and making his yummy noises. Also climbed into his baby walker (which we no longer use parked by fish tank) back to front and was trying to get away in it i couldn't believe my eyes...where has the little baby gone?! Now i remember Beks's words about them growing up so quickly...

Londoner - Awwwww! Bet he's missing you too. He'll be fine, where is he btw? Somewhere nice?

Diege - How is DD2? Hope you're getting some sleep.

Brownie - Hello!

Beksmum · 04/12/2006 21:38

Hi all

Rodeo, hope Jess is ok, how frightening for you, hope they manage to get her sorted soon, poor little mite.

Re your computer, have just been talking to my dh about your keyboard problems. Firstly do you have a pc or an Apple Mac? HE might be able to help if you have a PC

If you have a pc, does it run Windows XP or Windows 2000? He asked if when you use the keyboard you get the same wrong letter each time you hit a letter ie a comes out as e with an accent etc, then it's possible that your keyboard has become set to the wrong region. Correctable by going into keyboard settings, in control panel and picking English.

If you get a completely random letter each time you press a for example, there are two possibilities 1) is that your keyboard is knackered and a friend of mine is throwing one out if it would be of any use, 2) you've got a virus that is causing the problem. He suggests running a virus scanner, which should locate it and clear it.

Hope that helps, let me know if it doesn't make sense!!! Dh is computer geek

Sorry girls, boring post but if we can get Rodeo back to normal she might not have to wish us a Merry Xmas in code

SiLondonernight · 05/12/2006 09:23

Hi,

Thanks girls, lol Beks you're prob right but right now I think Wednesday will be more like this. - but I'll hang in there, look we're already at Tuesday . He's in Dorset at an education centre place.

Rodeo, how's Jess, can't believe that you poor things. If you're still having problems may I suggest you request they put some sort of plastic stitch on it? Or some of this stuff may work if you have to wait... you can get it at supermarkets. Oh let us know, how traumatic, {{{thinking of you hon}}}.

Girls, have to say I'm really enjoying all your hilarious baby escapade posts lol, "more!".

Elizabeth likes to crawl round the house sporting a single sock which she takes great care positioning round her neck each morning.... and I thought we had an odd sock problem before? Boy looks like the socks are alive in our house now halfway down each hallway/up the stairs etc.

Love to all.x

GarfieldsGirl · 05/12/2006 10:48

Hiya

Nova, wow! What a night! 15 years ago I would have been so of you brushing Howards arm, he was my favourite, not that you'd believe that now with my Robbie obsession!

Rodeo, hope Jess is OK, what a nightmare, bless her. I hope the doctor can sort something out for you.

Beks, books are going OK. Have just got myself a website. Everyone feel free to have a nosey. You can buy books from the website , and have a look at the free prize draw to win £100 of books! I've only set it up today, so still lots of playing to do, and I'm sure it will change many times over the next few weeks.

Sean has pulled the Christmas tree on top ofhimself 3 times already. He was very kind yesterday and decorated his friends tree with lots of her toys!

Whisper this - He has only been having 1 bf before bed for about a week now. Yippee!

IsawLandSmumkissingSantaClaus · 05/12/2006 13:09

Hi Rodeo, poor little Jess, these things tend to bleed loads as they have a very good blood supply, if it doesnt settle or keeps getting knocked the GP may suggest cauterising it to stop the bleeding or you could get some Tegaderm which is a see through dressing thats sticky all over and sticks down well ,its also shower proof. It may stay on a lot better!!Hope shes sorted soon

At work so will try and get on again later....

Beksmum · 05/12/2006 21:38

Evening all

Quick one from me

LilJ can you post your address on the yahoo site so I can send N a b'day card as I'm away from Thursday. Ta Beks If you don't see this in time hope he has a fab first b'day!!!

GG the website looks fab and the about me bit is really well written, bet you'll get loads of orders from it.

Speak to you all tomorrow Beks

SiLondonernight · 06/12/2006 09:18

Hi,

Beks, you were right, things are looking brighter today.
Thanks for your support girls.

Beks, where are you off to - anywhere nice?

Rodeo - hope everything is okay with Jess.

Diege - are you alright?

GG - that's amazing! Clever you, am really impressed.
Lol at Sean and the xmas tree wrecking, what a tinker! Love him putting toys in friends tree, maybe he'll be an interior designer, either that or a demolition expert. Am very envious of you being down to one feed, how did you manage that? Remember a few weeks ago you were feeding during night but trying to cut down, what happened between then and now if you don't mind me asking? Phoned La Leche League for advice the other day on whether or not it's ok for 13 month old to be on so little solids still and she said it was and to take an overview of a couple of days when looking at their food intake and this has been really helpful as E does tend to eat maybe a couple of big meals one day then barely nothing for the next day or two. She looks healthy though and is v.active, just me that's looking rum!
Right, sorry that turned into real monologue. Hope you all had a good night. Bye!

GarfieldsGirl · 06/12/2006 11:04

He, he, hee! I'm just booking tckets for Girls Aloud in May. Speak later, I'm so excited!

Helloo!!! Just letting you know I'm still alive . Have been snowed under with work this week, what with the end of term looming . Wishing you a speedy recovery RODEO and family from the dreaded sickness bug, oh no... . Hope you don't have to deal with the sheets dilemma we talked about a while back!
Have been wowed by your show biz news NOVA, how exciting . When's ds back LONDONER, just a few days left now? E sounds absolutely fine from your description I have to say, though can understand why you might be a little anxious - I am so in awe of how you cope with everything, I really am .
Hello to everyone else . Day off today, so just trying to catch up with everything - usual last minute realisation that birthday presents needed to be posted yesterday!!
Off with a friend for the weekend, in York, which I am REALLY looking forward to - two nights full sleep!! . Of course have to get dds clothes etc organised for dh ...
Anyway, shouldn't complain .
Speak later

Beksmum · 06/12/2006 19:06

Evening girls

Rodeo, glad Jess's mole has settled but poor you guys with the sickness bug, hope you all feel better soon. Oh heck that's a bit of nightmare with the laptop isn't it, lets hope you stay on santa's good list till Xmas and anyway what were you doing looking for pressies you naughty girl!

Diege hope you have a great weekend away. Have you been to York before? I've always fancied going there, but have just been to lazy to do it!

Londoner, glad you're not missing your baby too much. E looks perfectly healthy whenever I've seen her, and I'm sure she'd soon let you know if she wanted more of anything after all she has got the older ones to learn from We'll have to get together after Xmas but only if you don't compare E with Tom 'cos he really is enormous!!!
We're off to Disneyland Paris for a few days Ben can't wait!!!

Brownie hope the last night at Brownies went well and that the xmas mayhem didn't scare of the newbies.

Hello to everyone one else, have a great weekend and keep everything crossed for me that it doesn't rain in Paris!!! Beks

Hi RODEO ; glad J's managed a smile, awww, it's awful when they're ill. Re: sheets, yes, you doooo remember, you know about what to do about the 'lumps' which seem to cling despite several washes ; think you said you chucked them (pardon the pun ), whereas I perservered with picking them off .
BEKS, you will have a brilliant time in Paris; dds will be so jealous when I tell them it's their dream . I love York, and have been there a few times; this time it's for a girly couple of days (spa, shopping) with my secretary (sounds a bit pervy for some reason!)
Right off for a bath to do a bit of pre-pedicure preparation

novadandypowder · 07/12/2006 10:38

Oh Diege, I'm so of your weekend. I was supposed to be doing something like that with a friend of mine (to make up for cancelling NY) but we can't seem to find dates that match.

Noo is doing very well on the walking front, can manage quite a few steps in a row now.

Found out noo hates the sound of sellotape coming off the roll - was wrapping something yesterday and she went ballistic!

Noo now associates the advent calendar with chocolate, and cries and points at it each day until we open the window . My friends think I'm a bit strange for having an advent calendar for the cats (it has cat treats in not choccy). We also get them xmas pressies.

SiLondonernight · 07/12/2006 13:00

Hi,

Rodeo, good news about the keyboard, shhhhhhhhhh..... d'you think you'll be able to adjust to non-code though? Glad J's mole has settled down you must be relieved. Sorry to hear about sickness though, poor you, it's just one thing after another sometimes isn't it? You're not alone on the pressie front btw, a combination of mad busy and time flying and financial pressures mean I've been stalling - let's not worry yet, we'll manage okay I'm sure. I find it helps to make a list of all the people who need pressies and then what I want to get them and then narrow it down to as few shops as poss and just go for it! This works really well and eliminates 'browsing panic' or 'feeling overwhelmed with small child in shops' horror.
Yes, ds2 returns tomorrow! Thanks for your ongoing support girls.
Beks, wow! Have a wonderful time! Get-together would be great. You're right about E having older kids to copy re:food thanks for that.
Diege thanks, and hope your hollies come very soon, think you could do with a break from work. Hope you have a great time in York! Lol at getting everything ready for dh before you go[sigh eh?].
Ooh just read your other post thast you're feeling a bit better Rodeo, yay! Argh, and now you're steaming ahead with the shopping too.... no stopping you now woman, go go go!
GG did you get your tickets?
Nova, Noo walking how sweeeet! Lol at sellotape fear, you just never know what they'll surprise yu with next do you? E hates it too, and foil when I'm doing kids' lunches[rolling eyes]. Don't tell Elizabeth about the advent calendar with cat food in, pleeeease!

Right, bye for now....did you get that hailstorm this morning?

Rodeohoho · 07/12/2006 16:49

Hello all!
Don't get too excited - not a new keyboard or laptop - a kind MNer showed me where to find my on-screen keyboard! I'd never even heard of it! Takes a while but it's quite easy I've really missed my e's, t's, g's, i's & o's!
Londoner, haha, no steaming ahead here! Didn't get far yesterday - but you're right, let's not worry yet Good tips too, let's not even think of the nightmare that is shopping with children!
Nova, it's amazing seeing them toddling about! They look so different! And yes, you are mad buying cats gifts
Diege - I do remember! I suppose it depends on chunk size, bleugh! Have a lovely time, maybe don't bring this up (haha) while away! Supposed to be out for a girly night tomorrow, but it's sooo cold, and the house is so warm Oh decisions, decisions.....

ChaCha · 08/12/2006 05:02

Hi girls,

Glad everyone is so well and that those of you with plans have fantastic weekends. Beks - Wishing you a fun-filled weekend in Paris, Ben must be over the moon. My friend's DD aged 4 went last month and is very proud of the autograph Goofy kindly signed for her

Had a very special mummy moment today when asking Zed 'Where's mummy's nose?'. He pointed straight at my nose and then did the same to his when asked where 'Zed's nose is'.... Talk about proud mummy moment today, i even called grandparents I just changed his nappy and asked him again and he remembered so i'm really chuffed. He now says 'what is zis?' and 'pretty'.. I can't believe how excited i am...obviously first time mum syndrome!
Thank you for letting me share that

Well, no sleep here thanks to active baby and aching hips - best get used to it eh?

Have a great weekend everybody

novadandypowder · 08/12/2006 11:49

How sweet Chacha, I get amazed by how clever our lo's are.

Just wondered if those doing the secret santa could post on here when their gift arrives? I'm very suspicious of the post office and obviously we can't ask directly or the person will know who it's from. Thanks.

Noo is most definitly entering toddlerhood - she cried today because she didn't want to wear her rain coat and kept pointing at her other coat on the hook.
