We've no time for JSing. We're battling green nappies, sleepless nights, x-box playing men and trying to hide our sling addictions. Fuck it, let's do a runner on a golf cart.

A lovely thread for all the JS Grad Grads to chat feeding, sleep and post-birth STUFF.

Roll call please ladies and perhaps add the number of slings and buggies you have acquired at the time of posting... wink

pis if you're happy with her just don't take her! I'm lucky as my mum is a HV so does the weighing but if I was going to clinic there would be issues as she started on 50th and heading to the 9th. We are a 9th family though, and she's bright as a button.

A shiny button that slept through for the first time ever. I am so pleased and excited!

I was very English with all the weird people but did have to hide with my mates for a while in the cafe as it all got a bit too much and I got all stressed!

Guess we're up for the day...

WilHarlot · 20/05/2015 08:02

Don't get stressed Juni. Deep breath and brush it off. You know what you're doing. Well done Minijuni! No such luck here. Think ours the other week was a miraculous one off.

WilHarlot · 20/05/2015 08:04

Oh and Ness I agree. They really need to develop some solutions other than 'formula top up'.

Minion · 20/05/2015 08:21

Same as MINIon, born on the 25cent, ate like a locust the first few weeks, went to well over 50, then dropped back down to 25th. Following that line beautifully now tho.
Still get her weighed every 2 weeks, more to get out the house really.
Well done minijuni!

We too had a good night. She went to sleep at 5::45, woke at 11 for a bottle, tried to have a mess aground but I want taking it, feel asleep and didn't see her til 6:15!
She's now snoozing away and has been for around an hour now.
I'm not counting my chickens Just yet, but it's better than being hit in the head with the soggy end of a ripped off foot!

minimooo · 20/05/2015 09:45

Sorry to hear of hvs making issues with weight gain. pis I don't have much experience of this, but I agree with the others that if minipis is doing well then continue with what you are doing and ignore the hvs. At the end of the day, you know if she's happy or not, not some stupid generic graph.

Well done minijuni! I can only dream of a full night's sleep atm! We'll get there one day hopefully.

Grin to soggy end of a ripped off foot! Hope she stays down for a little while yet.

My lovely dm is arriving tomorrow and staying with us for almost a week. I can't wait to see her. She's only seen E for about 10mins since she was born (we weren't allowed visitors in intensive care in hospital and when we were discharged dm had to drive home - 300 miles - to go back to work). Absolutely cannot wait til she's here.
So far we've had mil coming in EVERY day to help us and she's driving me and dh mad. We're really grateful for everything she's done for us, but jeez woman back off. She continually tries to tell us what to do with E and she doesn't listen to a word I say (she claims she's deaf... more like selective hearing ) anyway, i don't want to come across as a mil hater, but it will be lovely to have a break from her and have my dm here instead Grin

Pisghetti · 20/05/2015 09:46

Thanks ladies. I promised myself I'd be more stroppy in standing up for myself this time but I was having a wobble. She's happy, alert, fills a lot of nappies and is only just below where she started so I'm really not worried about her. I'm paranoid that if I start skipping clinic or arguing back I'll be flagged up as a wrong'un. I'll take a look at that link now Smile

Glad BabyJ and MINIon have found their sleep groove!

Nessalina · 20/05/2015 10:27

It's amazing the hold we feel that medical professionals have over us. Do you know what they can do if you stop going to clinics? Sweet FA Grin
I've never been and they haven't sent SS round just yet...
I'm sure miniPis is fabulous Smile

Lol at the MIL bashing mini Wink I feel like that about mine sometimes - she's a lovely lady, but I'd take my mum over her any day of the week. She baby talks to him constantly to the point where I just want to shout "YES, I'm sure he IS a cheeky boy, and he IS gorgeous, and he DOES have a cutest fattest cheeks, but he DOESNT need to hear about it 24-7!!"
And breathe... Blush

JuniDD · 20/05/2015 12:37

Yep, I took babyj once, and she had dropped a line. They told me to come back in a month and I never did. My HV was also meant to be seeing me more often because of my mental health but she didn't. They are too short staffed ( and I am mostly ok nowSmile)

She is now having a huge nap. I think last night may have been a one off! It only took her seven months mini so hang on!

The HV thing is interesting re the top-ups. There's lots a bf mum can do its just people don't know. It's a shame and causes such stress.

Minion · 20/05/2015 15:10

Ladies, is there a 5 month growth spurt? R has finally decided to start giving out feeding cues, lip smacking, very cute. Yesterday 2 full. (200ml) bottles in a row, then today 140,150,100 and just now 190!
It's unheard of here.
She's now passed out on me so time for catch up tv!

WilHarlot · 20/05/2015 18:33

You should do bf peer support Juni, you'd be good at it.

I forget when all the growth spurts are. Remember Miniwil getting ravenous about the five month mark though - maybe a sign they're getting ready for solids?

Totally agree about professional input. Unfortunately we have to have quite a lot of it and I'm always paranoid about how my decisions are going to be interpreted.

minimooo · 20/05/2015 18:53

Haha ness Grin exactly that!

Minion · 20/05/2015 19:03

Oh I hope she stays hungry, I'm a feeder!

JuniDD · 20/05/2015 19:47

aw thanks wil. it's all just memory from our excellent support here in Bristol. I guess I'm thinking there should be bf supporters at the HV clinics.

Ugh, why do I go in the childbirth section?! Will have to find some bunnies to stroke!

WilHarlot · 20/05/2015 20:49

Oh no what did you find?!

JuniDD · 20/05/2015 21:07

Just chat about being forced to VBAC after EMCS...my worst nightmare should I attempt dc2. Then I read about James Rhodes being abused as a child. Think I need a gin! And I'll stick to candy crush for the rest of the evening.

TheBooMonster · 20/05/2015 23:19

If you're having problems with your health visitor, request a different one, I've gone through a few and the one I have is lovely, she got a nursery nurse to start coming to see Alex when everyone else said they couldn't do anything until she was 3 (liars grumble grumble)

Evie had her first jabs today I'm in hell between her general level of grump and my sausage sized mastitis lump Sad though the doctor said that Evie is greedy, I'm assuming that's a good thing...

Pisghetti · 21/05/2015 01:16

I do rather like the HV - I'm just worrying prematurely in case things start to go the same way as happened with DS. BabyPis has had a boob thrust at her every time she has so much as looked in my direction today. I've also messaged the peer supporters - they said pretty much the same as you viroids that the scales don't tell the full story and I'm hopeful they'll advocate for me should her weight continue to flatten out.

WilHarlot · 21/05/2015 06:16

Oh no Boo. Are you ok?

My HV is actually good too, apart from about bf. We actually have the four month check today so should be interesting.

Two wake ups tonight so I am wearing my not impressed face Envy .

Minion · 21/05/2015 08:11

I didn't get a 4 month check. Should I?
Oh dear wil, were they "bottle and back to sleep " ones, or ' hey mom seeing as you're up, let's chat ' ones?

R would have ' slept through '(eexcluding dummies issues) except at ten only took half a bottle so was up at 3, but she did go to 7! So I can forgive her.
Just.

TheBooMonster · 21/05/2015 09:06

Aye wil it's not so bad as long as I remember to take paracetamol, though mrBoo grabbed it in some sort of ridiculous attempt at JSing last night and got an elbow to the face. Knew I shouldn't have listened to him begging me to come back into the main bedroom, gropey-mc-grope kept me up half the night even though Evie ended up sleeping a dream!

OP posts:
JuniDD · 21/05/2015 09:35

These men and their bloody sex pest ways. Angry Angry

Did not sleep through then accidentally fell back to sleep at getting up time so tonight will be ridiculous. Bit grumpy about it!

WilHarlot · 21/05/2015 12:28

Don't be grumpy Juni, I have found things are less stressful if you don't expect and just accept. totally forced on me by this one's complete lack of any sort of consistency.

Boo swift kick to the gonads for that nonsense.

The first was a feed and back to sleep effort Min, the second was a 'I'm going to do a poo and then get you up for the day at 5.30am.' We get a four month check here but maybe you don't in England? All they did was weigh, measure and ask questions about motor development. Her weight was still crap, not even put on 1lb in a month, but I think the HV actually trusts my judgement now so let it be. She's on 2nd centile for length! Takes after me obviously.

JuniDD · 21/05/2015 21:08

Thanks wil, that's generally my parenting philsophy but I feel a bit shit as she doesn't eat and bedtime seemed pretty solid. Anyway, she's gone down now and as we were out all day at a friend's farm (!) I hope she'll do a decent sleep.

Aw, microwil is so cute. I am a shorty but Babyj was 50th for length last time we measured her and 98th at her 8 week check!!

Anyone doing anything nice over the bank holiday?

Pisghetti · 21/05/2015 22:45

'Swift kick to the gonads' Grin

No specific plans this weekend. Get MrPis for an extra day Smile BabyPis isn't very well - she is mardy as anything and has a proper gammy eye. I tried the breast milk treatment earlier. Poor thing. Lying there, feeling a bit shit, then mum comes over and milks herself in your eye.

WilHarlot · 22/05/2015 01:41

Grin Grin I always feel bad for doing that too Pis. How are you finding it with MrPis away some nights? We don't have a bank holiday here.

98th, How did you manage that? Good work for a shortie.

So apparently waking at 1am is a new 'thing'. Obviously waiting until 4 like we were doing is just too long without seeing me. Bang goes my lovely five hour stretch of sleep. (moan moan etc).
