We've no time for JSing. We're battling green nappies, sleepless nights, x-box playing men and trying to hide our sling addictions. Fuck it, let's do a runner on a golf cart.

A lovely thread for all the JS Grad Grads to chat feeding, sleep and post-birth STUFF.

Roll call please ladies and perhaps add the number of slings and buggies you have acquired at the time of posting... wink

I did nap in the end! Evening is not boding well as she's not sure whether to sleep eat or cry!

TheBooMonster · 04/05/2015 03:11

wil she's 2 and a half, I did try and start a few months back but she got scared of the loo so I stopped. She managed a wee in the potty yesterday, much whooping was done by all. pis damn, what ever they did needs bottling for selling! I have to admit I've got DH here as useless as he's being to help yesterday and today and then I only have till Friday and Mum has got her for the weekend, I'm hoping mum will make a lot of headway and I can reap the benefits...

Yeah it's not fun boo. MiniWil would only use the toilet, refused to go on the potty which made it slightly more of a pain in the ass.

Hope your night was better than you thought could. I couldn't sleep as kept needing to cough but had to try not to so as not to wake the baby.

Where have you tried to leave her Juni?

JuniDD · 04/05/2015 11:36

God potty training gives the fear.

I have tried to leave my child in such horrendous places as her playmat, her bed, my bed....places I've historically left her for ages but which now burn with the fires of a thousand suns and cannot be permitted to touch her. Like I say, tiring. Seems to be worse in the afternoons. Hmm

ZylaB · 04/05/2015 15:25

We're back! First night away from home wasn't too bad, H was really grizzly in the evening but slept well in her cousin's travel cot once we got her down. We did 2 trips to different parks which was lovely, can't wait until she's bigger and is wanting to copy her cousin! (Though I also am loving newborn cuddles and smiles so maybe I can wait...)

WilHarlot · 04/05/2015 20:23

Juni you heartless witch Shock Grin ! I have never really got to the stage with this one where she doesn't cry when left so not sure we'll notice the separation anxiety.

Glad it went well zyla, good news.

Minion · 04/05/2015 21:30

Hello again folks.
Sorry was mia for a while.. So so tired. Combo of dummy falling out and her being in light sleep to not napping properly and me up and down more than a tarts knickers.
Any who.Had a fab weekend with our families and she was as good as gold!
We are now out of wonder week 4(thank fuck) so hoping that's that!
Think she's teething too. The cutest pink cheeks and noshing on anything within a foot of her gob!
Her favourite is my knuckle.

Potty training scares me too! I'd it completely wrong to just wear adult nappies?

theonewiththenoisychild · 04/05/2015 22:30

hi can i join please? ds is 6 weeks old tomorrow.
i was also wondering if anyone has tried the nct caboo sling/carrier? i havent used a sling before so dont really know much about them but it looks pretty simple to use and not too pricey for a first sling tia for any advice

ZylaB · 04/05/2015 23:31

Ok, after several good nights H is now refusing to settle, maybe it's just the disruption of being away yesterday getting to her. She's currently having yet another screaming dippy fit because she's so tired...just sleep child!!

Hi theone weren't you in the March due date thread? :). I've used a caboo close and found it easy enough and liked it plenty, as did my little one. Have to say I'm currently in love with my connecta though which just feels a bit more structured for when she gets bigger. Slings seem to be a very individual thing, different people like and suit different things, could you get to a sling meet to get some advice and try some out to see what you like?

WilHarlot · 05/05/2015 04:30

Hi theone. I know nothing about slings. Still can't decide whether to go for the connecta or one with a waist strap. At this rate she'll be walking before I've decided and I won't need one.

Hope H has settled. We're up for second time. I am unamused.

ZylaB · 05/05/2015 07:50

She did give in and sleep about midnight wil :/. The connecta does have a strap around the waist? Go try one if you can then you'll see how it works with your back? Hope second time up was the last time!

theonewiththenoisychild · 05/05/2015 07:56

hi zyla yes i was on the march thread.
not sure about a sling meet havent heard of any in my area tbh. think me an the little dude will give the nct one a go and see how we get on. if we use it a lot maybe we'll upgrade to connecta. i really like the look of the dino pattern Smile

WilHarlot · 05/05/2015 09:21

Sorry yeah I don't really mean a waist strap. But you know how other ones have big thick waistbands that sit on the hips? I thought this might take some weight off upper back. I think I might just go ahead and buy one. I'm never going to get to try one on. Just worried she hates it.

ZylaB · 05/05/2015 12:18

wil H cries when I put her in it every time without fail until I walk, then she settles and snuggles up. And no then, the connecta doesn't gave a waist strap that helps spread the load.

ZylaB · 05/05/2015 21:02

So every single time H does even a tiny dribble of pee she screams until we change her nappy, like every 20 or 30 mins sometimes, we're getting through ridiculous amounts! It is this bothering her because as soon as we change it she settles, but it's silly! The nappies don't even feel wet to us when it's soaked in, but we know she's weed cos it makes a tiny bit of the indicator line go blue. Please tell me she'll grow out of it?? Even a little bit? :)

JuniDD · 06/05/2015 08:19

Is she a bit sore zyla? Yellow metanium is brilliant.

So, just had a wee with a six month old on my knee. Because screaming. I didn't even do that when she was tiny. Am I softening up?!?

ZylaB · 06/05/2015 08:40

I don't think she's sore, she's always done it...should I get her checked out? She's not red and the screaming stops the instant you fake the wet nappy off...

As for toilet with baby on your knee Juni, sometimes needs must! :)

WilHarlot · 06/05/2015 08:51

It's not while she pees? Like a pee infection or something? I'm not sure zyla, never had that.

Ah I have peed holding a baby before. Usually when I can't fit the buggy in a public toilet though. My poor child was just left screaming whilst I showered myself and miniwil. Life of a second born is hard.

ZylaB · 06/05/2015 10:23

I don't know if it's while she pees or straight after...hmm. Though she doesn't scream if she pees while on the changing mat. Think I'll put her on a big maternity pad for a couple of hours tonight with no nappy and see if she screams when she pees then. If not its just the wet nappy she hates, if she does we'll go to docs :)

Pisghetti · 06/05/2015 12:51

B loves a bare bottomed kick about on a mat pad however I am pretty cautious about it after Popz's experience!!

I was about to head out to Buggyfit but just checked the FB page and it's been cancelled because of the high winds on the seafront. Phew! Wasn't looking forward to battling with the pram after watching debris being blown past my window at speed all morning! Should really head out for a walk or something but B is fast asleep on my lap and looks too comfy to disturb.....

WilHarlot · 06/05/2015 13:08

That's a good idea zyla.

You're so good Pis. I was going to go to an exercise type baby class but they won't let me take the toddler.

Pisghetti · 06/05/2015 19:07

Sadly Wil I am very bad indeed - didn't manage any exercise and have eaten a big bag of twirl bites while B had a monster feed Blush

ZylaB · 06/05/2015 20:07

Well we tried it and she didn't oee at all lol, couldn't leave her any longer as she started to get a bit chilly after 20mins or so and cried so we had to bath and dress her. Will try it again tomorrow! She has peed all over her clothes twice on the changing mat today though without screaming (and just looking bloody pleased with herself lol)

JuniDD · 06/05/2015 22:46

ah must be the wet nappy. Guess she'll grow out of it.

mrJ has gone on one of his "must rid this house of stuff" rants. Am just taking cover...seeing as he is often too tired to do anything I see this blowing over in a day...

ZylaB · 07/05/2015 05:37

Hehe juni I'm going to make MrZ throw out/charity shop loads of clothes this week. He never ever gets rid and keeps them 'just in case' eg 30 or so old work shirts 'just in case I want to wear one for casual'.
