We've no time for JSing. We're battling green nappies, sleepless nights, x-box playing men and trying to hide our sling addictions. Fuck it, let's do a runner on a golf cart.

A lovely thread for all the JS Grad Grads to chat feeding, sleep and post-birth STUFF.

Roll call please ladies and perhaps add the number of slings and buggies you have acquired at the time of posting... wink

ooh stay away from the porridge. I'm having to have oat milk in lieu of normal milk and I'm sure that's why I always feel full.

If you like them Furry it's a shame to ditch them. Maybe just say you don't do christenings as you're not religious? No non-christian wants to spend seven Sundays in church surely (or however many babies there are)? Either that or go to the two you like best...

ZylaB · 26/04/2015 17:38

pis H often cries when I first out her in the sling but loves it after I've walked about for a couple of minutes :)

I'm on countdown, MrZ has a week off after next week, yay!

(And don't say it too loudly, but H slept for 7 and a half hours on Friday night, I call that sleeping through!! Apart from exploding boobs it was ace)

JuniDD · 26/04/2015 20:43

pis BabyJ didn't like the ring sling at that age, I think it's just a bit less tight. I did the same as you but ended up one day just keeping her in it and jigging and patting her and she calmed down. Try it when you know she's not hungry/tired/dirty (as I'm sure you would) and try to persevere a bit. It was really handy for the screamy nights as she was screaming anyway but meant the sling held her and I could pat. God, I do not miss those nights!

MrJ's dad made his visit and it was actually ok (we'll gloss over having to leave the restaurant due to meltdown).

Hope you solve your christening issue furry - one of our NCT kids was done this weekend and none of us were invited. Easiest all round!

Busy conference sounds tiring min, did you at least get to stay in a lush hotel?

Wonder if my oversupply issues are due to eating porridge every day since she was born...? Sometimes twice! Shock

I've had to stop looking at my phone at night just lately. I've been trying to wait and see if she'll resettle. What actually happens is she wakes right up and does these massive smiles at me then has a huge feed instead of 20 mins. Might try picking her up quickly again tonight.

Am thinking hop-tye for my birthday carrier. What do you think?

Minion · 26/04/2015 20:47

What's porridge doing to your boobs girls?
Fuck it's cold tonight.
I've not been this child since early pregnancy.. Ooer!
Still no sign of ertd tho the spotting accompanied a heck of a lot of ewcm the other day. Crazy. Assume I iced!

Well last night R went from 6-12:30, then 1-5, then til 7 after that. She seems to be getting better at nights now. No multiple up and downs, I've jinxed myself now haven't I?
And she's loving the food. Can't get enough of it. But why the fuck is everything orange?
I've gone puree mad!

WilHarlot · 26/04/2015 20:58

Oats Min, boost your supply.

Sigh can you all get your babies to write a sleeping manual for mine please?

That looks nice Juni but do they put pressure on your shoulders? Can I ask what the thing is about having lots of different types of slings? Is it easier to carry them certain ways in different circumstances? Or is it just like handbags - because you like them? Grin

Suppose I had better get my sorry ass to bed or I'll regret it in the morning.

Minion · 26/04/2015 21:01

I didn't know that! Everydays a school day!

couldntbebothered · 26/04/2015 21:03

Hi just joining from the grads thread, baby girl born last Monday, gorgeous but feeding LOTS!

RPopz · 26/04/2015 21:23

Welcome could - how you feeling?

Haha, what have you been pureeing min? Are her tummy ishoos better now you're weaning?

Don't show me these things Juni! It looks lovely - very comfy.

I have mine for different purposes Wil - the stretchy caboo for when he was tiny, but never really got on with it tbh. The Ergo for big walks. And now the connecta cos it's easy to get on and off and small enough to shove in your bag. But not as easy on the back as the Ergo so for shorter walks. Trying to avoid getting sucked into woven wraps because I suspect they are like handbags... you have to keep buying them because they're so beautiful!!

ZylaB · 26/04/2015 22:37

Congrats could :)

wil the connecta was just as it's easier to put on for MrZ but then I hijacked it a bit and got a pretty one! ;). H is now proving a nightmare to put down, I think it's cos she's over tired but won't accept it lol.

juni our night feeds last at least 45 mins, involve 2 nappies and both boobs often.

JuniDD · 26/04/2015 22:54

Ah zyla those days were behind me, dammit! I will never forget the 4am river of green shit fortnight at four months. I had a sense of humour fail about that.

wil I like shopping and as clothes for me is too depressing and I have no time for anything else, sling accumulation it is! I think I am definitely a buckles girl though. barely used my woven though think it'll be great for back carries when we're ready.

TheBooMonster · 27/04/2015 00:53

zyla the vomiting did stop thank god and as DH was off we had a lovely lay in! he's off tomorrow (today) and I'm not sure whether to join him on his city trip so I can spend money or sneak another lay in... Though there is a risk he won't take the toddler if I don't go... Perhaps I can make him go later in the day so I can do both...

I can't remember who asked about why the different slings (hate the app) but I find they're suitable for different stages and situations. Stretchy are meant to be better for newborns though I didn't get on with them. I love my ring sling for discrete out and about feeding but find the woven more Comfortable for long time carrying.

And welcome across could!

WilHarlot · 27/04/2015 00:59

I'm not that happy with the news that the Ergo is less sore on the back than the Connecta. I didn't really like the Ergo when I tried it - that clip at the back is impossible.

I hear you on the clothes buying Juni

Welcome Could. Come in and make me feel better with your newborn's sleeping pattern. Hope the constant feeding settles down soon.

Nessalina · 27/04/2015 01:20

Welcome & congrats Could! Smile
Oats boosting milk supply?? That explains my recently explodey boobs - a new fad for porridge for breakfast!!
I'm very sneezy and I'm hoping it's not a cold...
Going to my local sling library on Wednesday to find out what all the fuss is about Grin I just want to find one sling that he doesn't scream in!!

ZylaB · 27/04/2015 05:38

Well that'll teach me to not ever say how well she's been doing at sleepong! Grin

WilHarlot · 27/04/2015 07:30

Ah welcome back zyla Wink . I have the shakes I'm so tired!

ZylaB · 27/04/2015 08:36

wil you really need some sleep! That post was my second time up but I knowyoure having it a lot worse. Can you give them to a parent or friend for a couple of hours and crash out? Brew

couldntbebothered · 27/04/2015 08:37

Recovering well from CS and feeling much more mobile already. Shattered from the lack of sleep - night feeds every hour or two so by the time I've dropped off to sleep it is time for the next one Confused also I keep falling asleep feeding before I've managed to transfer to Moses basket

Nessalina · 27/04/2015 09:00

We've all been there Could! (Sounds like Wil still is there Sad)
If you've got a smart phone I found watching iplayer or similar on my phone kept me awake pretty well during night feeds. I couldn't read MN coz it made me nod off! Grin

RPopz · 27/04/2015 09:37

Those early weeks are hard slog could Sad Lots of sugar and caffeine Grin

The connecta doesn't have a waist strap Wil - so I find it pulls on my shoulders after a while. But I don't know if I'm wearing it too tight. Need to get to the sling surgery and see what they say. I can't do that bloody ergo back strap either... apparently its easier if you do it up first, before you tighten the shoulder straps. I've been trapped in the thing before now, when DH has been at work....

Minion · 27/04/2015 14:01

Welcome could, rest up and lots of calories for you. Bet she's a cutie! WhTs her stats?

Ooh popz, we've got carrots, butternut squash, avocado, pear and apple. Got swede to purée but R hates the blender and throws a BF when it's on.

Last lot of injections this morning, poor things passed out on me now.

WilHarlot · 27/04/2015 15:53

Oh doesn't it Popz? Mm that makes me think twice. Anyone tried a Boba carrier (not wrap)?

MiniWil used to go mental at the blender noise too Min, made things a bit difficult.

I'm fine once I get going zyla.

Jeez it's snowing. Nearly May and it's snowing.

FurryScoob · 27/04/2015 21:48

Congratulations could

Miniscoob had puréed broccoli for tea yesterday & mango for pudding. Today she did her first proper little poo & I felt very proud! Grin

ZylaB · 28/04/2015 04:44

Snow?!!

scoob yay for proper poos ;). Isn't it funny how your conversation topics change hehe, that said I was amused when H filled her last ever size 1 nappy with an enormous poo. It was like she was saying "and that's what I think of those!"

Minion · 28/04/2015 07:52

So R decided to treat us to every half hour from 11:30-3:30 this morning!
Zombied.
Topped off with a ginormopoo! Didn't even need telling twice e, bath, bottle, got into our bed and promptly fell asleep.
What the f is in those jabs?
At least I think it's that. Could be the new solids? She absolutely loved hers yesterday, cheese, spinach and potato.
Smelt vile!
