MrJ was actually at work today but I'm sure tomorrow will bring a family nap time opportunity. He's off to the U.S. On Monday so will have to make the most of it!

How's your conference going min?

Any nice weekend plans? we have mrj's dad coming for his biannual two hour visit. Annoyed already...

Pisghetti · 24/04/2015 21:34

I'm at the inlaws this weekend. Currently lying on their spare bed feeding B. I have bread and butter pudding waiting - hurry up BabyB! We have a pretty packed weekend of taking the baby around friends and family.

FurryScoob · 24/04/2015 21:49

Looks like the men folk need to do some baby care so sleepy viroids can get some zzzzzzzz.

Enjoy your FIL's visit juni could you accidentally fall asleep while he's about if you want to avoid him?

I have an NCT problem, they're all getting their babies christened & inviting us all to the christening. It's very nice of them but I'm not religious & really can't afford 7 lots of Christening presents, how do I get out of all the christenings without offending them all. Confused

ZylaB · 25/04/2015 06:47

Ow fucking ow! That little milk blister I had popped while H was feeding yesterday morning, hurt but then felt loads better. Yay I though and didn't show it to the docs. By the time I got home a much bigger one had come out, same nipple, slightly different place and I wonder if this one coming through was the cause of most of the pain. Oh my god it hurts! And not just when feeding, though that hurts most. I'm so tempted to put a needle in the steriliser and deal with it myself. If I do it just before a feed, or pump after doing it then milk will come through and it should be fine, is my thinking anyways! Hmm.

Looking at joining some water babies classes, anyone done them, were they worth it as they're not cheap!

TheBooMonster · 25/04/2015 08:28

Oh zyla ouch on the milk blisters! We did water babies with A, she and I really enjoyed it but it is quite expensive and once we'd conveniently moved near to where our classes were we got moved up to a bigger pool and it took about an hour and a half to get there by bus which made the whole process a long day. We did classes for a good year and a half though and I bought all the kit, what a surprise I did intend to carry on at a local pool but not being paid up in advance gave me less of an incentive to go. The one thing I would caution you on is the bloody photo shoot! It's about £50 to go and that doesn't include any pictures, then all the picture options are very expensive and while I understand it's a unique opportunity it's a bit steep if you don't have a lot of disposable income, had I realised how expensive the products would be we'd have saved the money and put it towards more classes!

A has spent a couple of days at PiL's and is full of the joys of spring! I spent that two days cleaning the house only for her and DH to undo all of my cleaning and clearing over the course of the evening why do I bloody bother

MrWil is just out of hospital which is why I'm having to do everything.

That sounds so sore zyla, not sure what to suggest.

We did Water Babies and it was great. Agree to avoid photo shoot though. Although I have since found out there are some local outfits who do lessons for half the price so worth investigating a bit further maybe.

cookielove · 25/04/2015 09:20

We do water babies but we have our only doing one term, I will probably go back when E is older but for now it has given me the confidence to go swimming with him independently and also he loves it. Prices for photoshoot here are £22:50 for the shoot and between £70 and £500 for their photos and for £70 you get one photo and it is only a little bit bigger that standard photo!

So we have opted out we are tight buggers as we can't afford it Sad

JuniDD · 25/04/2015 09:27

Ow zyla can you get her latch checked out? Any groups or IBLCs you can get hold of? Hope that's it, sounds horrible.

I am pondering how to behave during fil's visit. MrJ regularly passes out when we visit my family or when they are here - just curls up on their sofas! So perhaps a dose of the same medicine will show him how fucking weird he is.

I am not doing any classes atm and enjoying the freedom ! Wink

JuniDD · 25/04/2015 11:31

hope mrwil is ok. Sounds like a tough week xxThanks Thanks

ZylaB · 25/04/2015 12:09

I'm sure her latch is fine, been reading about it and milk blisters can just happen. I popped it Grin used a sterile I Dublin needle thingy and the relief was amazing! Still hurts a bit when she's feeding but I'll keep an eye on it :)

The photo shoot is included in the package, but I bet the pictures are hugely expensive so we won't be buying one unless it's truly amazing! We did love the swimming last weekend, so I think one course of classes will show me more stuff to do with her which will be ace.

Hope MrWil is ok.

juni just make sure you get him to do stuff, 'suggest' it nicely.. "MrJ would you like to get your dad a drink/food/go on a walk with him/show him something etc etc". Then he can't refuse without looking lazy :)

ZylaB · 25/04/2015 12:11

I Dublin = insulin Hmm

RPopz · 25/04/2015 12:35

I find written messages the best thing for chore compliance... WinkWink I usually leave him a note on Mondays when he finishes work early and gets home before we finish Daisy Tinies. Seems to work as he can't pretend he didn't hear/ I never told him it needed doing Grin

Hope MrWil and miniWil are ok xx

WilHarlot · 25/04/2015 13:37

He's fine, just a routine op.

MrWil ignores written messages as if they've never existed. I have to ask out loud and leave a decent length of time before the next request or am accused of nagging Hmm.

WilHarlot · 25/04/2015 14:09

Just realised we have accidentally ignored the christening issue. It's tricky because I'm not the kind of person who would expect a present or be offended if there wasn't one. Do you know them well enough to bring it up? Other people might be thinking the same thing and you could either agree no gifts in the group or to do something for all the babies together in lieu of a gift. Not sure what but maybe each baby could get a money box or some similar christening friendly present with everyone chipping in so in actual fact everyone is only buying one present. The 'lost my name' books are quite popular and personalised - they're just under 20 quid each. That way your DD is included too. I wouldn't notice if you got us a present or not but I appreciate not everyone will think like that. Or if the issue is really about not wanting to go, maybe just go to one or two and claim to be busy for the rest. You can always get books cheaply enough and they make good presents. The Book People always do packs although not sure what they have for baby age.

Minion · 25/04/2015 18:12

Hi all. I'm shattered. Very full 3 days, I'm more knackered now than 3 days with R!
She had a good time with her daddy. In fact he even told me he's glad he did it as it was nice that when she was upset, she went to him for comfort! I loved that. It's so lovely seeing their relationship develop.
Talking of R, don't know if I mentioned it but the other night MIL gave her a bottle and popped her in the travel cot to go get something from downstairs, came back up and shed fallen asleep on her own!
Thought it may be a fluke, but after the 10pm feed last night, I really needed the loo after changing her bum, I plopped her back in crib for ten, it went very quiet, shed only done it again!
And then this morning, she was on our bed listening to us whilst we got changed.. Shed done it again!

Let's hope she's finally worked it out. It makes the day for me a little easier.

Ouch to the milk duct blister. I had no idea they existed. If Bfing wasn't so good for mum and baby I'd swear it was trying to end us! Nothing worth having is easy I guess.

I've missed loads out, so sorry, but I have been keeping up. I just couldn't even string a sentence, let alone type one.

Weathers vile ain't it!

RPopz · 25/04/2015 19:30

I wouldn't expect people to take gifts either furry. Especially if you're not related to the baby! Just a nice card.

Welcome back min Smile

Just ordered a Dominoes - good times Smile

WilHarlot · 25/04/2015 20:56

Did you enjoy it Min?

Nice Popz, what topping?

I'm hoping to go to sleep soon but micro appears to have a dodgy tummy.

TheBooMonster · 26/04/2015 04:16

I thought you only took gifts if you were family or godparents? I sent DH with a gift for his goddaughter at her christening but neither of us were godparents at his goddaughters little brothers christening and it didn't cross my mind to take a gift...

E vomited in my face after refusing to burp, then I cleaned us up again and she did it again... I hate night feeds...

OP posts:
ZylaB · 26/04/2015 06:22

Hope microwil is feeling better!

Welcome back min yay for putting herself to sleep for R.

I agree about either not taking presents, can't you agree that as a group? Or doing one present from the whole group per child like wil suggested if some people are insistent on giving a gift.

Eww at vom in the face boo hope it stopped after the second time!

FurryScoob · 26/04/2015 07:21

Hope microwil was ok wil & let you have some sleep.

Hope everyone else got a goodish night, it's getting quieter on here in the night must be due for some newbies soon?

Thanks for the christening advise, those books are great wil & for our normal friends they would be great although they wouldn't expect a present. Unfortunately NCT lot are loaded & will expect something, we decided to get one of them a joint 40th present a couple of months ago, I thought it would be a little token gift kind of thing but ended up costing £30 each + we went out to a fancy hotel for lunch. Their all on massive maternity packages while I'm on SMP. Think it's time to cut my losses & find some new mummy friends who are as skint as me before we go bankrupt!

Pisghetti · 26/04/2015 08:46

There's quite a few grads due over the next week or two Scoob I think June has a bumper crop too. I'd probably brazen it out and just rock up with a card and see what happens. I doubt you'll be escorted from the premises Smile

BabyPis is not really interested in breakfast. My left boob is about to explode Shock

For those of you wondering, the bread and butter pudding was ah-maz-ing Wink

Pisghetti · 26/04/2015 08:56

Sling question for the experts - B loves the stretchy wrap and falls asleep almost as soon as she's put in it. I tried out a ring sling from the library and she fell fast asleep in that too so I hired it. On that first try though she woke up screaming - I assumed from being hungry. However every time I've tried it since she's screamed her head off while I'm putting it on and for a while afterwards so I'm just taking it straight off again to calm her down. I'm doing it in a mirror so I can see what her feet/legs are up to so nothing getting caught there and checked her hands aren't near the rings. Any ideas what's going on?

WilHarlot · 26/04/2015 09:36

Sorry Pis no clue. BabyWil always cried when getting into the wrap thing I have but once I started moving she was fine.

That sucks Furry. Do you like them? All my mummy friends have really good jobs too.

I trying not to use my phone at night as it makes it harder to get back to sleep. I'm still up though!

FurryScoob · 26/04/2015 12:15

Flowers wil one day you will all be asleep at the same time!

No help with the sling pis it's all like a different language to me!

NCT lot are lovely & we all get on fairly well now their just in a different financial world although I have converted a couple of them to Aldi nappies. Grin

This London marathon is making me feel very lazy!

RPopz · 26/04/2015 14:56

OMG explodey boobs... I've had porridge for breakfast two days running and they're like rocks!

I had a meatfeast type thing Wil and potato wedges... lush. So bloody expensive though! Won't be able to justify that in a couple of months time... Hope Micro is ok xx

Pis - minipopz always screams blue murder when I put him in any sling but is usually quiet as soon as it's on and I get moving. I don't know anything about ring slings tbh. Has your surgery got a fb group? Try asking on there.
