Even though dc3 is end of August, thought I'd start a sept thread :-)

How are you all doing?

dS1 is 9 dats old. Feeding well and surely sleeping well but it's hard to know as I keep falling asleep at night feeding him!

Cookie I can't believe they did that in NICU ! I would be furious ... When DC was in NICU they were very careful asking us everything before they did it... On the other hand I now know how difficult it is to settle a newborn in a little crib or incubator ... I wonder how they settled my LO in our hospital on his back that I just can't seem to be able to repeat it?
Maybe it is my smell or maybe he knows somehow he can be cuddled forever now he is home?!?

Nazly · 08/09/2014 16:17

Oh and Cookie, if you found the answer to ur question let me know !!!!

Re: sore nipples. It may be your latch is actually right but your nipples need to get used to bf. I had v v sore nipples, more on the right side. Mw who was shit insisted I was "doing it wrong" I nearly kicked her out. I carried on with lansoish and watched "how to latch" videos on YouTube. Copied them and after 5 days my nipples are healed. Also let them get to the air and rub breast milk on them and let it dry. Helps immensely.

Dr just phoned. Mw did a swab this morning which has come back positive for infection Hmm I thought something was up...DH gone to collect antibiotics. Just what I need on top of a regressing with toileting 2 year old.

nazly I'm not sure what difference it makes to the pain as I've not been able to feed without then, my nipples are still getting very sore, but getting a latch is do difficult I'm reluctant to move her when she's on, regardless of pain. My problem now is keeping her awake when she's on!
Does anyone's LO sleep more on their side than on their back? Evie always prefers to sleep this way, I'm sure her arms would stop her rolling over but not sure if I should try to get her on her back?

Nazly · 08/09/2014 21:15

Allis my mum keeps telling me it will be OK when he grows a bit- his mouth right now too small to get a big chunk of breast including nipples!! I am going to a bf cafe to get checked

Dinah my LO sleeps on breast quickly when he is tired ... Nothing I do keeps him awake :( so he sleeps quickly and gets up in an hour for another feed !

I would not worry about sleeping on side ; I have done some search on it cause my LO just never sleeps on back ; I would say just use a rolled towel or something to prevent her from rolling over and I would also make sure she sleeps on both sides equally to prevent flat head

cookielove · 08/09/2014 21:21

Eli often sleeps on his side, he also likes to be smushed up against the side of the moses basket, it is so reassuring to find him like that in the am Hmm

I use to swaddle him but he always git his arms out so I have had to stop! Now he has a cold he is sick more often to so being swaddle irritates him leading him to be sicker!

Hopin he'll get over his cold sooner rather than later and go back to sleep a bit quicker!

Hi everyone!

Just marking my place. EDD is this Saturday for my 1st. I'm 36 with 1st out of my close friends so don't have any ppl to really grumble to. No signs yet and not even sure I've had any Braxton-Hicks (some women don't right?) anyone on here had any experiences @ Birmingham Women's Hosp?

ShowMeShowMeTheWine · 08/09/2014 21:46

Cookie, can you rub a little snuffle babe onto his feet? Or on his babygro?
Also, being sick when they have a cold is meant to be quite good. It clears the phlegm from their tummies. Hope he's better soon.

Another vote for air drying nipples when you can and loads of breastmilk left to dry on them. It really will heal anything.
If baby scratches their face, has nappy rash, cradle cap, milk spots - squeeze some milk on and be amazed at how much quicker they heal!

cookielove · 08/09/2014 22:33

My nipples feel bruised from all the pumping! Hurts initially when I start now. Although still feeling a bit tender now and I finished 20 mins ago!

Marjal12 · 09/09/2014 00:09

Just marking place from Sept thread. Due for induction with 2nd on Thursday...

DearDinah · 09/09/2014 01:03

Shared this on the ante natal board, thought I'd duplicate here as I'm switching between the two! Xx

Staking my claim here for when baby arrives, due friday

Acorncat · 09/09/2014 02:42

It's comforting to know I'm not the only one struggling a bit. Another night spent on the sofa with a sleeping baby who will just not settle in his basket. Can't keep doing this when DH goes back to work next week. I am shattered but really struggle to sleep when I get the chance which is crazy. Seem to have taken a step back with feeding too, just can't get latched properly. On the plus side we're getting dirty nappies so must be getting enough.

RedToothBrush · 09/09/2014 03:27

Its 3.30. Ds is still asleep. Went about 10.30. I am actually waiting for him to wake. Arrrrggggh. Bloody typical. When he does I bet that will be it for night too. Had to check he is ok about 4 times already, because lack of screaming.

topmammy · 09/09/2014 04:25

Marking my place. Have no energy at the moment as I feel quite ill :( Hope I don't have to try get a docs appt as I can't be bothered to have to leave the house tbh! Feel a bit fluey, aching etc. Checked boobs but no hardness or redness so hopefully not mastitis. Oh I am a rubbish poorly person lol will be ringing my mummy in the morning!

ilovemonstersinc · 09/09/2014 04:30

Im on 3rd feed of the night Hmm

ilovemonstersinc · 09/09/2014 08:06

Top hope its just a virus thats making you feel shitty.

I gave into the dummy last night.

He'd had 5oz of ebm and didmt want him to be sick so I gave him ds2 spare dummyllol.

allisgood1 · 09/09/2014 09:14

Top I've been feeling similar and mentioned to mw. Image did a swab which came back positive for a uterine infection. Call mw to come to you if you can't manage to get out to dr.

Omg he slept for over 4 hrs straight. Amazed!

lilone1234 · 09/09/2014 10:45

Hello all!

Just come to say hi and see how you're all doing with the bubbas and check in ready for my LO's arrival. She is due today - I do not appreciate the lack of punctuality lol.

Hope you all get some sleep soon and your nipples are not too sore!

Nazly · 09/09/2014 12:01

Red did he sleep for 5 hours?? How and where? I am interested as I am following your solution to a similar problem I have...

Nazly · 09/09/2014 12:05

I want to buy dummy- any suggestions which one is good?

LO get the dummy when unsettled for a few minutes then he isn't interested anymore but I think maybe it is because of the strange shape close to nature dummy has?

allisgood1 · 09/09/2014 13:29

Nazly, cherry teat dummies are good for bf babies. Not that mine ever took one but the few occasions that they did that was the one they accepted.

DS currently sound asleep on my arm.

Hi all! Just marking my place on here, even though baby won't be arriving until next week Smile. Just reading through all the hints and tips from you already Mummies and hoping that I manage to absorb some of it before next week!

ilovemonstersinc · 09/09/2014 14:16

Naz ive used nuby dummies with other2. Asda little angels have them too. They are nuby but cheaper. He only sucks for a little while but managed to help. They have to get used to it.
