Even though dc3 is end of August, thought I'd start a sept thread :-)

How are you all doing?

dS1 is 9 dats old. Feeding well and surely sleeping well but it's hard to know as I keep falling asleep at night feeding him!

allisgood so sorry you are feeling so awful, I had to call it quits on bfeeding purely because Evie was spending two hours at a time on the boob, does your son fall asleep? My bfeeding consultant said to offer a bottle to get the baby sucking again & then switch back to the breast when they were more awake & suckling, don't know if that's an option for you?
cumbrian I was told to take arnica tablets to help with bruising, you can also get it as a gel? Might be worth a shot, failing that what about one of those inflatable donut rings to sit on, just to make it a bit more bearable?
Evie is a real guzzler at the bottle, we're using tommee tippee closer to nature but I'm not sure if it comes out too fast, she chokes a bit, & today sicking a lot back up & it's coming out her nose :( anyone have any ideas to help? We're trying sitting her more upright. Perhaps we need to change bottles?

DearDinah · 12/09/2014 12:26

cookie excellent news, you must be so relieved?
Welcome dandy my LO came in August but was due Sept, congratulations! X

CumbrianExile · 12/09/2014 12:28

Thanks Dinah. A trip to boots once I have fed this little one I think. Anything is worth a try Grin

DearDinah · 12/09/2014 12:29

honey I give Evie a wash, moisturise before a feed, that way she's soothed afterwards. Also I try to keep water quite warm, & rub wipes/cream to warm them up a little, it's the coldness she objects to the most!

ilovemonstersinc · 12/09/2014 13:32

Allis bronchiolitis is shit. 1of the reasons I hate winter. Ds2 caught it 3times last yr, 1 hosp stay, 1 a+e trip in car and 1 via ambulance. Just so worried about having 3 ill kids in winter

dinah could evie have a bit of reflux?

You can buy baby gaviscon otc to put in bottles no more than 6 sachets a day and its1 sachet if they are over 3kg and 2 if over 4kg but double check on back of box ds has anti reflux milk in the day abd ebm with gaviscon at night.
His reflux is under control atm abd hope it stays that way.
He was sick this morning in front of eldest who has tube to feed him eldest said 'mama he like me tummy hurt take dr make him better' made me tear up

ilovemonstersinc · 12/09/2014 13:35

Congratulations cookie!!!

Sorry no info about bruising

Mum washed ds when he was a day old abd I washed him when he was around 3days iirc.
it's not that bad.baby settles in the warm water of the bath

allisgood1 · 12/09/2014 13:48

I know ilove. It's literally keeping me awake at night. Also may be a little pnd kicking in as mine comes in the form of anxiety rather than depression . HV aware though and coming to see me again at 6 weeks to assess me for pnd. At least I'm being proactive. Just don't want to start any meds until DS is a little bigger.

Honey, we shower as opposed to bathe at this age.

Dinah, don't really want to give a bottle Confused I'm thinking it's a growth spurt as they do this to increase your supply. He was feeding, falling asleep, feeding, falling asleep all. Night. Long. Fast asleep now when I have dd2 to contend with. Of course.

A couple of people DH volunteers with turned up on the doorstep this morning. I had no idea they were coming. I was mid way through a nappy change, so didn't answer the door immediately. So they rang on again. So I had to run downstairs, still in my nightie carrying DS quite literally with his trousers down. I don't even really know them. I thanked them for card and kind of said goodbye.

They live in the next town over so I have no idea if they came her especially. I really don't much feel up to uninvited visitors at the moment. I'm just trying to get to grips with coping with DS on my own without having to entertain too. He's been grizzly and clingy all morning as it is. And had about 6 nappy changes.

DH is fuming over it, saying it was really inconsiderate of them, even if well intentioned, especially as they should have known he wasn't home as his car wasn't there and they didn't let us know they were coming over.

In hindsight I'm now feeling very guilty and as if I was rude not inviting them in. I can only hope I looked harassed enough.

Honeybear30 · 12/09/2014 16:06

Red don't feel guilty. Uninvited visitors are an absolute no no. DH is still here on pat leave but when he's gone I will be fuming if my door goes! Don't feel bad, no one likes uninvited visitors even without a newborn.

CumbrianExile · 12/09/2014 19:21

Oh Red, I wouldnt have been happy either. No visitors here without prior arrangement. Only the midwife can get away with visiting without giving an actual time, and that is because I have no choice!

dontevenblink · 13/09/2014 05:54

Red definitely no unplanned visitors here either. We've had lots of people wanting to visit this weekend and have had to say if they want to they'll have to come at a certain time tomorrow as I'm still to sore to be trying to deal with visitors all day.

Those of you who have had C-sections, have any of you got any sharp pains internally? I've got a really sharp pain underneath and above my scar on one part on my right hand side, which I didn't have with my last section and it is making it really tricky to do anything. I have some nasty bruising in the same place so I am hoping it is 'just' the internal bruising causing it as Sophie was stuck in my pelvis and they had to do a lot of pulling/pushing to get her out, rather than me having torn something!! I've been getting lots of rest, but doesn't seem to be helping... I'd just go to the drs but its not free here unfortunately and I don't want to go along for nothing if you see what I mean...

xxmissbrightsidexx · 13/09/2014 08:23

Can't remember if ive posted in here but here I am x 2nd day in hospital & nothing much seems to be happening except irregular pains :( hoping when they examine me I'll have dilated at least, & will be given the 2nd lot of whatever it is I need, think it's the gel they'll be giving me someone said? Anyway sorry if I do your heads in with the whining lol x

DearDinah · 13/09/2014 17:00

donteven that's exactly how I feel post section, in hospital the searing pain in my left side was unbearable, it's still there but not as intense, I was told baby was really wedged in too

DearDinah · 13/09/2014 17:01

Midwives/doctor all didn't seem to be concerned at all, just said to keep an eye on the scar, if it looks red to go back

DearDinah · 13/09/2014 17:04

ilove hadn't thought of reflux, we've just switched formula to cow & gate comfort as she's constipated on sma, will see if that makes any difference. I'm dreading her getting any colic.

DearDinah · 13/09/2014 19:47

Well she's had projectile vomit tonight, so I assume it must be reflux, poor thing. I've given her some infacol do you think that's ok?

allisgood1 · 13/09/2014 20:48

Infacol is fine but is as good as sugar Hmm. Try giving infant gaviscon and see if that makes a difference. If not get to the GP for something stronger. How is she in herself? Is she happy or upset?

OP posts:
ilovemonstersinc · 14/09/2014 01:15

Exactly what allis said.
ds is still sick but better than before so sticking with gaviscon.

hows everyone? ?

Anyone heard from blossom?

dontevenblink · 14/09/2014 03:41

Oh thanks for that dinah that's reassuring to hear, although sorry you've had that pain too. The scar looks fine itself so hopefully it's just the bruising from where she was stuck then. Will just try to keep up a bit more with pain relief!

Talking of annoying visitors we had two lots of friends due to come round at 11am - the ones who also have a newborn turned up on time, but the ones who haven't still haven't turned up at 2.30!! Can't get hold of them so I've decided I'm going to have a nap with Sophie anyway...

DearDinah · 14/09/2014 06:32

Thanks allisgood she's ok, doesn't cry about it so I hope it's not too troubling for her, just a worry for me!

Marjal12 · 14/09/2014 09:49

Typed full birth story yesterday and it didn't upload Angry
Anyway, Penelope arrived safe and well after induction and 11 hours of labour at lunchtime on Friday. She's a dote. Just eating and sleeping at mo. They thought she might have a heart murmur but 2nd doc couldn't hear it, so we have to get her checked in 4 weeks. Getting home today. Smile

Honeybear30 · 14/09/2014 11:09

Congratulations marjal :)

DearDinah · 14/09/2014 11:22

marjal congratulations! What a beautiful name! Enjoy xx

TheOnlySeven · 14/09/2014 11:32

Hi all can I join? DD3 (4th DC) was born on 30th August but was due in September. She was a dinky 5lb 9oz but is now up to 6lb. DH went back to work after paternity leave today, just had a text that he thinks he's broken his finger!

dinah I think our babies were born on the same day?

marjal congratulations. DD1 had a heart murmur at birth, it was still there at her 4 week follow up but we were told it's quite common and not normally anything to worry about. She had another follow up at 6 months and it had gone.

allisgood1 · 14/09/2014 11:55

Congrats marj and theonly Smile
