So here it is - a brand spanking new thread!

OP posts:
tron · 28/03/2007 13:37

oh winkygirl i'm so sorry to hear you news

Erin now has 2 teeth and she grins at everyone - she is very happy with them indeed, plus she can now bite bits of banana off now too. She's not walking yet but has started standing up without holding onto anything and then bumps down on her bottom giggling

Have DS at home too today, he's got infections in both ears an tonsilitis - he's sighing alot and trying to blag bowl fulls of icecream, such a chancer

thebecster · 29/03/2007 13:53

Funny how they all do things at different times & in different ways, but all get there in the end. Theo sounds like a very bright little chap. Oli loves banana too, but he communicates with body language (waving his hands around in glee when he sees a banana). I think he thinks he's talking when he's gabbling - he looks at me as though he expects a response... He's been saying 'Dada' for ages, so the complete lack of 'Mama' is frankly galling! He's got 2 and a half teeth (top front one is just peeking through!).

MrsChristianTroy · 29/03/2007 19:56

hockeypuck, No I am not SAHM, I used to be luckymummy to Sophie. Will probably change my name again soon though as I'm not really liking this one as much as I thought

Sophie not 1 til 17th may. Planned 3 parties already though! My Dad is 60 the same week so family party there, then family party with DH's family, and a party for all my mates, most of whom have kiddies who she sees regularly.

Has anyone started trying to get lo's onto cups yet? Sophie has a Doidy, she does drink form it but minimal amount, a TBSP full? I go ther a Nuby cup, better, but still doesn't drink loads from it. I've occasionally given her water from her bottle but she doesn't even want much of that. I don't really want to give her any juice. We have a dental hygienist in the family...I don't think she'd approve!!!!!

Sophie very much into copying noises at the moment, including coughing, blowing air thru lips, fish 'bobs', raspberries etc etc. Very cute. Cruising well around the furniture....hoping she might walk before she is 1??? (but really not worried if she doesn't).

Mandymoo · 30/03/2007 11:14

Tom is standing and taking a few wobbly steps - he is one on 5th May. Just going to have a quite family gathering (more for dd's sake really!).

He is very vocal but cant really make out any words as such - more gabble type sounds!

He is feeding and sleeping well but still no teeth! He is my gummy boy!

Hello to all X

squidgeymiller · 30/03/2007 11:52

Hi all, Niamh is 1 on 13/05/07. We're just planning a barbq in back garden for close friends and relies (I know it's pretty ambitious for Scotland but I can't fit everyone in the house so they'll have to freeze! DH very excited at prospect of having an excuse to by a garden heater - tsk!). She's cruising well and gabbling a lot. Only clear words are Mama and Dadd or Daddy and yes (usually as yeh yeh yeh, like the guy from the phones 4u ad). She does also say MMMMMMMMa a lot. Not sure what it's for though.

As for drinking she will drink from a normal cup but we've got her a couple of plastic ones coz she keeps biting the glass ones. We've also got her a couple of basic tommee tippee sippy cups coz they're easier for taking with, and she can drink from those without supervision.

What else? She's climbing the stairs on her own so has to be watched all the time, she takes great joy in putting things in things and taking them out again (like mummy's washing out of the basket etc... and anything else into any other kind of container). Discovered yesterday she's a fiend for skips - hadn't planned on giving her crisps but she spied mine and was over like a shot. I gave her one and she was almost at tantrum point coz she was too scared of the crinkly bag (??) to put her hand in to get another. Anyway, she was actually GRUNTING with pleasure and polished off half a bag. I had to eat as fast as I could to limit what she could get her hands on!! pmsl.

She has 6 teeth now - top 4 and 2 front bottom teeth. She is no longer gappy!!

Can't think of much else but I'm sure there's plenty.

SAHMof1 · 01/04/2007 21:28

No, I?m still here Hockey! And yes, Isaac was born on 20th April, one day before Theo, but we didn?t post until after you! We have a small party planned on the Friday with a few of his little friends, and then on the Saturday we have a hall booked for grown-ups! I?ve even thought about making his cake myself!!!

MrsChristianTroy, we have a Doidy cup too! It is so funny to watch him drink from it, because he tips it too far and covers himself. Either that or he tips the water up too much and it goes up his nose!!

Squidgey, my DS is scared of the vacuum cleaner! DS climbs the stairs on his own too, can?t quite get down back down though! He crawls really well, cruises fantastically, and even did few wobbly moments stood by himself.

He recognises toys, and when we say ?where?s your doggy, snake, ker-chow (Lightning McQueen from Disney Cars) etc.? he goes to it and waves it around lots. He waves, claps and shakes musical toys when asked too.

I just can?t believe how much he has grown, and how different he is from when he was born. They say they grow up fast, but it is so true!!! In some ways, I miss my tiny little 5lb baby! He seemed so helpless, but now Isaac knows exactly what he wants, and will have a real temper when he doesn?t/can?t get it!

Wow ? long post, sorry!

BrummieMomInMerthyr · 02/04/2007 15:08

Hi all!
Mrs CT, we started Dylan with a doidy cup which he seemed to take to well, but i did get an avent magic cup and took the valve off it while he got used to the different teat thingy and now he drinks beautifully from it, so you could try that! As for juice, he does have it, sometimes watered down, but if Sophie prefers juice, surely it's better to let her have it and clean her teeth rather than her dehydrating???!!!! I understand family members can be a bit of a pain, and dare i say it, judgemental at times but do what you want and what Sophie wants.

Dylan is doing well cruising and falling over ALOT! he had his first bruise on his head the other day!!!! nightmare! He is 1 on may 7th and we haven't got anythimg planned yet, i feel so unorganised compared to all of you I've been back at work 2 weeks now and actually really enjoying it, but do miss Dylan loads.
Hope you are all well x

tron · 13/04/2007 18:05

hi, wow don't they grow so quickly. Erin is 1 on 27th May. I start back at work next week, just 2 days a week and i'm absolutely dreading it, she is so clingy i'm sure she'll think i've abandonned her

She cruising so well now and is a demon crawler. She is developing a real stubborn streak and know just how to get what she wants, we just can't resist those big soppy eyes

It's lovely to hear from everyone

asur · 15/04/2007 19:10

Hi ladies,

Haven't posted for a while but have been reading your posts. Everyone seems busy with their every-more-mobile babies/toddlers. It's strange to think about how much they've changed in just a year, isn't it!?

DS is 1 next month - we're not doing anything for it though, he won't remember it so I'm not bothering. I will take a photo of him with a "happy 1st birthday" banner so it can go in his scrapbook but that's all. (I'm mean!)

Winky - I'm so sorry about your news and hope you are getting through it. I actually got a BFP at the same time as you so I was quite upset to read your sad news and have been putting off posting my news on here. All seems to be fine with us so far though, and we will have a new addition at the end of October/start of November. Have just informed all my family this weekend - quite a few surprised people but all happy.

Hope all is well with everyone, hugs to all the LO's.

My1isnearly1 · 15/04/2007 20:30

We?re moving (yes, again ? we only moved 9 months ago!). This time we are relocating to East Anglia. Hubby has job in Cambridge, so are looking (desperately) for affordable housing locally for him to commute to. We are prepared to consider up to an hour commute for him to find affordable housing!

Anyway, enough of our silly dilemma, so one and all ? do we need a new thread to discuss our now mobile May ?06 babies? Although we all seem too busy to post much these days!

Love to all the LOs, and congrats Asur!!!

BrummieMomInMerthyr · 16/04/2007 14:37

Congrats asur
My1isnearly1, have you changed your name???!!!

hockeypuck · 17/04/2007 09:58

Congratulations Asur, wishing you a smooth pregnancy and pain free delivery

Theo is 1 on Saturday - I can't quite believe how quickly it is going!

He has had his first haircut now and looks much more like a little boy instead of a baby, but is till a lazy git when it comes to the walking - no interest at all! He just goes everywhere on his bottom and boy is he fast now.

Just thinking, does anyone here have myspace. I've decided to make my own at the ripe old age of 32 and wondered if any of my mn buddies had it?

hockeypuck · 17/04/2007 21:48

oh forgot to add tron if you read this, check out the south west wales mile for maude thread - can you come along (it's cardiff not south west wales!. Would be good to meet you, brummiemuminmerthyr is coming so there would be 3 may babies if you came too!

louismummy · 18/04/2007 16:22

hi all very busy in our household at the mo. Bought ds2 his first pair of shoes last week, can you belive size 2!!! he is so tiny!!! he is really getting to grips with his walking. He has also stopped being fed by us... he HAS to do it himself!!! very fustrating, so he is living on ham sandwiches and olives at the mo ( not balanced but its all he'll eat - oh and cake surprise surprise.)
He's just getting his 16th tooth so that should be us done for about 12 months until he gets his second molars phew...

hockeypuck · 19/04/2007 14:48

16 teeth!!!! wow that boy has been busy! Theo is only just cutting number 7 and boy do we know all about it!

He is however getting very excited about saturday - I wrapped his presents up this afternoon (in front of him, he didn't have a clue, he was too busy chewing on a peek a block) and I think he'll enjoy all the wrapping paper.

WinkyGirl · 19/04/2007 19:43

Asur Many congratulations. I did think it was a bit weird that no one else had a BFP to announce! I guess you just dont have a motormouth like me!! My Auntie Flo is on its way so it wont be long before we are ttc again! Cannot pretend that I am not really jealous but am trying to remain positive.

Louismummy 16?! Wow, well done him! Like Theo, Maddie's 7th is coming through now. She is 1 on 27 May - no plans for a party yet. I am back to work on 14 May, 3 days a week.

Where oh where has the year gone???

asur · 19/04/2007 20:29

Winkygirl - glad to hear that you're feeling more positive. Have been thinking about you. Good luck with the ttc - at least it's fun trying (jealous as I'm totally off sex just now!) hugs

Louismummy - 16 teeth?!?! I thought DS was doing well with 6-going-on-7! At least you don't need to worry about teething for a while. I actually dreamt last week that DS woke up and all his teeth were through, unfortunately, it was only a dream!

Hockeypuck - LOL at wrapping presents in front of Theo - if I tried that, the paper would be stolen before I got a chance!

DS has really become a mummy's-boy lately. Am hoping it is a phase - anyone else had the same thing? He'll scream, even while his dad is holding him and only settle once I have given him a cuddle. It's very sweet for me but obviously DH is getting a bit / Can you all reassure me that it is a phase?!

hockeypuck · 20/04/2007 08:11

BrummieMomInMerthyr · 21/04/2007 15:13

Happy birthday Theo!!!
Hope i've got the date right
love brummie and Dylan xx

hockeypuck · 21/04/2007 19:34

Thanks Brummie - Theo is looking forward to meeting Dylan at the Mile for Maude in 3 weeks.

We have had a fantastic couple of days. We had a party for 4 of his baby pals yesterday, just an hour with some toys and cake which he seemed to enjoy. I put the balloons up while he napped in the morning and when I brought him back down to the lounge he saw them and said "ooooh" excitedly while pointing at them, and then every time he opened a present he said "oooh" and played with it, which was fab behaviour really as I remember DD just discarding everything and playing with the paper!

Then this morning, I brought him into my room with me and dh to have his bottle and dd woke up and came in shouting "is there a one year old in the house" all excitedly, then she saw him and said "happy birthday lovely boy - oh - you're not any different at all" and got really disappointed! She thought he'd be walking and talking I think when he turned one overnight bless her.

We had a lovely walk in the bluebell woods this afternoon and a visit to the local coffee shop with a petting farm which we all really enjoyed.

His favourite toy is a "Wheely bug" ladybird thing that my sister got him. It was really expensive but he absolutely adores it, and kept pulling it around after him as he shuffled across the floor on his bottom going "oooooh". Ah the joys of having a rich sibling!

Anyway enough waffling, am off for a nice calm quiet bath with a book, remembering gladly that I dont have an 8" stitched wound in me and sore boobs like I did this time last year and I sure am going to sleep better tonight than I did this time last year.

Hoping all your babies first birthdays are really special for you all too and looking forward to hearing about them x x

luckymummy74 · 21/04/2007 19:44

Hockeypuck - awwww, your day sounds fab! Happy Birthday Theo! I know what you mean about comparing this time last year! I will be on Sophie's first birthday (17th may).

I have reverted to being luckymummy as that's how most of you know me, and I still am, a VERY LUCKY mummy. Sophie is still an angel. Only has 2 teeth !!

She can now climb the entire flight of stairs, and is just working out how to get back down again backwards. She walks regularly with her toddle truck, and loves it, but won't walk with us or on her own. All in good time. I did have a sneak peak in Clarks today at the little pink sandals, so cute!

We also got a seat to go on the back of dh's bike, and she loves that too, sits there like the queen, waving at everyone . Her xxxsmall helmet is also sooooo cute!!

I have 2 friends due on her 1st birthday, it makes me very nostalgic. Why do I only ever remeber the nice things about being pregnant? I seem to have forgotten the raging pelvic pain, constant weeing in the night, being unable to walk (SPD).

Oh by the way, congrats Asur!!

Hope you are all OK....

luckymummy XXXXX

huffpuff · 24/04/2007 10:11

HI all

Well, Tom will be one on 5th May. We're just having a small family tea party type thing, mainly for dd's benefit rather than Tom!!

He still hasnt got any teeth and is my gummy man!! Climbing the stairs, hiding the sky card and climing into the saucepan cupboard are his main hobbies along with eating my candles and pulling my hair!

I cant believe he is almost a year old - the past year has gone too quickly and he is no longer a baby - although he still looks like one facially due to lack of teeth!!

huffpuff · 24/04/2007 10:31

Oooops! Forgot to mention that i used to be Mandymoo!!

BrummieMomInMerthyr · 24/04/2007 22:34

Glad you had such a fantastic day hockey! Dylan can't wait to meet Theo too! and Brummiemom is looking forward to meeting Hockeymum!!
