So here it is - a brand spanking new thread!

OP posts:
squidgeymiller · 07/03/2007 10:04

well, we don't have to pay for check ups up here any more anyway, so I don't really care. She enjoyed going and seeing the dentist look at my teeth, and anything that will make things easier in the long run seems like a good idea to me!!

She now has 4 teeth and her top front left tooth is just peeking through. We've had an awful couple of nights with these teeth coming through - we've been up 3 times a night for the last few days, and just when she'd started to sleep through too!! Think it's teeth coupled with a growth spurt coz she's having 3 bottles a night at the mo, which is usually what she has in a day!!!

Hope all are well.

How many weeks are you now winkygirl??

louismummy · 07/03/2007 14:08

its a good idea to take your lo with you when you go for your checkups, just so that they get used to the smell, noises, and routine. It is true that we now get paid better for seeing chidren, but this is about the only improvement to the new contract, previously we got only £6 a year to see lo, no matter how many appointments they had!
less of the politics! ds1 hasn't got chickenpox yet... but the net's closing in more and more of his peers have it and its at nursery ( not in their rooms yet!)
ds2 had a 48hr sickness and diarrhoea over the weekend. so i feel like widow twanky! lts of love to you all.

WinkyGirl · 07/03/2007 21:54

Hi All. I am 7 weeks pregnant now. I feel like I have been pregnant for ages but now I type "7 weeks" it seems like nothing! First scan in 4 weeks and am trying not to get too excited just in case. All ok. Cravings and nausea. Already feeling like a fatso.

We think DD has got teeth number 7 & 8 coming through as she has been quite grizzly the last couple of nights. Poor squigeymiller - its not funny is it?

On a positive note she clapped for the first time today. It was really lovely to see how excited she was at our reaction! Now we are waiting for a wave...

SAHMof1 · 08/03/2007 21:23

My dentist doesn't want to see DS until he's 3 years old.

BrummieMomInMerthyr · 08/03/2007 21:50

Hi All! Glad to hear you are ok Winkygirl, don't know about the rest of you, but i remember being 7 weeks cos thats when i first went to the midwife, and keeping it a secret was a nightmare, esp at work! Then i got married a week later and flew to LA (12hr flight) then on to las vegas! Poor Dylan went through so much before anyone even knew about him
Dylan has started to clap his hands too, and will do it with us just saying 'clap hands'! We're trying to teach him how to wave now! Still not crawling, but the lazy so and so likes to get around by rolling to where he wants to go! He likes to climb the furniture, or my leg, which ever is closest!
Back to work for me a week on monday and my lovely bosses have only just decided i can do mon-fri 0830-1230, but i have to do 6 weeks of nights first! Oh well, a bit of give and take is ok esp if i get what i want in the end! I'm dreading the nights cos i have an overactive thyroid now (due to pregnancy!)and i'm needing to take thyroxine as well as a drug to stop my thyroid working while it is being rested, but they can't get my thyroxine dose right,so i feel tired a lot of the time, so you can imagine me at 3am!!!!! I'll let you know how it goes!
Hope you are all ok xx

Mandymoo · 15/03/2007 21:09

Hi all

Hope you are ok Winkygirl

Tom is 10 months old now, still no teeth!!!

He is walking around the furniture and basically into everything - found him in my saucepan cupboard the other day!

plama · 16/03/2007 09:23

Hello everybody.
DD2 clapped her hands for the first time yesterday! We were very excited. Her big sister keeps trying to get her to do a High 5 too ( with limited success)
Her favourite pastime at present is opening drawers, especially the bottom one in the bathroom, and pulling out all the toys!
She's gone to nursery today wearing red spotty tights for Comic Relief.
Hope everyone else is OK - funny to think that this time last year we were still pregnant!

tron · 16/03/2007 20:45

Hi all, i just wanted to yell ......FINALLY ERIN HAS A TOOTH ......

thanks! xx

SAHMof1 · 17/03/2007 20:47

Cool - wohoo Tron!

BrummieMomInMerthyr · 18/03/2007 19:14

Happy Mother's Day all!!
I haven't had a fantastic one cos i keep thinking about going back to work tomorrow! And Wales beat England yesterday so i want you all to know how bad it is being English living in the Welsh Valleys
Congrats to Erin on her first tooth! Dylan has finally started to crawl/bunny hop now, hurray! Or should i say oh no?!

MrsChristianTroy · 18/03/2007 21:10

Hi all
Just wanted to say Happy Mothers Day to you all. I hope you all had a good one, esp those of you like me who it was first Mothers Day! Yippeee! I love being a mummy!
DD is well, pulling herself up on everything, and cruising a bit.

TIP- I read somewhere to fill one floor level kitchen cupboard with safe baby items i.e. tupperware (is it the 1970's?) and plastic bottles etc, then they can have that as their cupboard that they can explore and pull everything out of safely. It seems to be working for DD. We even put a poster on the door of the cupboard with a photo of her on and 'Sophie's cupboard'. She is never happier than pulling it all out!

I agree it is weird thinking we were still pregnant this time last year, and now look at us!

hockeypuck · 21/03/2007 10:34

Hi Girls

Theo is 11 months old today

He still does not crawl but is beginning to pull himself up and will shuffle on his bottom around the floor and round and round in circles very quickly laughing his head off! Think he'll be a late walker because he's just so chilled out (unlike his sister was, she was walking by 11 months)

Brummiemum - get used to the english living in wales thing - I still get it all the time even after 10 years. I went to see Russell Howard (comedian) last night in Cardiff (swoon) and thats the only place I could cheer for being English. It was such a studenty crowd, it was ok to admit to being English

Hope you are all well.

Congrats on the tooth Erin! (Is she happy with it?)

squidgeymiller · 22/03/2007 13:21

Hi all!

DD now has 5 teeth and is pulling up on everything! She's standing up in her cot and climbing the stairs (she managed up 9 on her own yesterday!) so there's lots of DIY for DH to do this weekend!

Her hair's getting quite long too and thicker at the top - like real hair!

Still struggling with teething and growth spurt etc so she's getting up most nights for a feed and bonjela etc... To top it all off she's now also got a cold with a blocked up nose (full of flourescent snot - eugh!) and a nasty cough.

Needless to say DH and I not getting much sleep these days.

Am hoping it will pass soon, coz am getting to the point where I could cry at any minute, and my temper's getting shorter (which is not fair on her).

How is everyone else coping?

PS - what are we looking for when buying stairgates? Have weird stairs so needs to be extendable. Any thoughts on which is best between screwed on or pressure gates? Help!

MrsChristianTroy · 22/03/2007 20:31

squidgey - we got given a Lindam pressure stair gate which is fine, very secure!

Sorry to hear you are having a rough few days or so. Sophie had a sickness bug last week which she seems to have infected THE WHOLE FAMILY with!!! I had it, then my folks, now DH, and her cousins....only 10 months old and causing so many problems!

On the plus side, she did start 'kissing' us today, i.e. lunging towards our mouths with her mouth wide open!!! so cute....

hockeypuck · 23/03/2007 13:19

Squidgy, the Lindam pressure ones are good, very secure. Personally though if you have weird stairs then I'd go with screw in ones (unless you're not planning on leaving her near them - although most children of 18 month will climb on stairgates - eek) We had Lindam ones for dd, but were given a screw mounted one for our stairs recently. It's much better than the pressure fitted ones and fully swings open leaving a wider opening (useful for stairs as you're carrying the baby and trying not to trip up on the little rail that comes on all pressure mounted ones). Yes, they take slightly longer to fit first time but once they are there they dont need checking and when you take them down the holes from the screws are really tiny so not too noticeable.

sorry you've been having a hard time lately. The lack of sleep doesn't help and motherhood really is difficult sometimes isn't it. I totally understand what you're going through and get rages like you too. Thankfully though because I had it with dd too I know it's a passing thing and that things to get better (I promise). Have a chat on here anytime you need to let off steam.

WinkyGirl · 23/03/2007 19:32

Hi Everyone Very sorry to report that we lost our baby. I started bleeding yesterday and a scan today showed it had died at around 8 weeks. It wasn't anything we did - apparently it wasn't a viable pregnancy. Late this morning I had a D&C. Back home now and have had lots of cuddles with DD.

DH and I have had lots of tears and are frankly devastated. I have been prepared a bit because I stopped getting pregnancy symptoms a few days ago and automatically feared the worst. I am off to look at the miscarriage threads...

Having DD helps so much. Our lot really are at an exciting age aren't they? Right little explorers.

hockeypuck · 23/03/2007 19:49

Winkygirl

I feel so sorry for you, and send you lots of hugs, thoughts and wishes.

Do let us know if there is anything we can do for you.

You sound like you are doing the right thing in treasuring DD and DH. Thinking of you lots

WinkyGirl I am so very sorry about your loss. My heart goes out to you and your hubby. We?re here for any outpourings as necessary!

squidgeymiller · 24/03/2007 00:44

so sorry to hear your news winkygirl . Hope you and DH have plenty of support xxx

MrsChristianTroy · 25/03/2007 16:18

Winkygirl - very sorry to hear your news. I had a miscarriage before I had dd, it was horrible, I do have an idea of what you are going through. What helped me was thinking of at as you said, as a non-viable pregnancy, and that it's maybe better to lose a baby very early than it be born with severe disabilities. I sincerely hope I haven't offended anyone by saying this. I am thinking of you all. It's good that you have your lo and DH to keep you going. Take care XXX

sniff · 25/03/2007 21:21

thebecster · 27/03/2007 16:58

Hello all, I 'bumped into' hockeymum over on 'Parenting' just now, and while I remember I just wanted to check in.

Oliver is 9 months now, and is officially a handful. But a delightful little handful. He's walking already and just never stops creating mischief. Putting things down the loo and flushing is his new favourite joke (yes we have a toilet seat lock. This only flummoxed Oli for a few minutes even though I frequently wrestle with the damn thing!) He hurled himself over the stairgate in a proper gymnastic gate vault the other day (I could never do a gate vault in gym... He clearly gets this from his father). Luckily as we're in a flat, there aren't stairs - it's just to keep him out of the kitchen. Fat chance.

He doesn't talk at all, apart from 'gabbling', and no sign of him saying 'Mama'. But he laughs a lot (usually at me!)

I'm back at work full time which is the only reason I haven't dropped dead from exhaustion

Good to 'see' you all, hope to read more news soon from you. love becster

PS Winkygirl - so sorry for your loss.

hockeypuck · 28/03/2007 11:22

TheBecster - I can't believe he is walking already - the clever little chap, think he's the first (correct me if I'm wrong anyone). Last to arrive out of the ante-natal thread but first to walk.

Theo is still not crawling but has a bottom shuffle exactly like DD's was (weird isn't it that they would both do the same and not crawl?) he's slower to cruise on his feet too, and she was walking at his age now but he can't be bothered! He's very chatty now with a fair few words "mummy" "daddy" "issy" "no" "gone" and "more" "bana" (for banana) - so maybe he's concentrating on that instead! (or maybe he's lazy like his mummy!)

Louismummy and SAHM (are you Mrs Christian Troy now or is that someone else?) Have you any plans for your little ones 1st birthdays?
Are they both on 20th April? I can't remember them all.
