So here it is - a brand spanking new thread!

OP posts:
hockeypuck · 13/01/2007 19:49

luckymummy - I'll be doing my MSc in criminology and criminal justice at Cardiff (admission pending!!) It's handy because it's not far, I think the lectures are all in the evenings to enable people who work in the criminal justice field to study along with their regular jobs.

I plan on doing 2 nights at Morrisons (where I work now) and 2 nights at uni - hope I will cope with it. I've just realised how quickly they start school (seems like yesterday dd was the same age as ds is now, so want to be sure I've finished my masters and am available for the work place when Theo starts school nursery in 2 1/2 years time). Ideally, long term, I'd like to do research and lecturing as I could fit it around school holidays then - but time will tell!

Squidgy - I always work in calendar months. Always have actually and never have a clue how many weeks DS is He's nearly nine months old now can't believe how quickly it's gone!

luckymummybigfattummy · 15/01/2007 20:44

OMG - disaster has struck! I picked Sophie up from the childminder tonight, only to be informed that she is moving to bloody Cornwall!!! (CM not Sophie). So devastated, spent lot of time and money last year on Sophie 'settling' in with this CM and she seems really happy there. It's 2 min walk from my work (perfect). And now I have to start the whole process again. What a nightmare. So gutted. I can't bear the thought of having to leave Sophie with another 'stranger'. She is just starting to get a little bit clingy too. It was easy when she was only 3 months old dropping her off with someone she didn't really know.
Sorry to moan. Just so gutted

hockeypuck · 16/01/2007 12:42

for you luckymummy. That's such a shame if she was happy and settled there. Do you have long to find somewhere else? and is there anyone in your workplace who can recommend anyone locally? Hope it all sorts itself out.

BrummieMomInMerthyr · 18/01/2007 15:12

Have you all done your my mumsnet profiles? lol!
Meeting about part time request tomorrow, wish me luck!

SAHMof1 · 18/01/2007 16:22

Hi Gingganggooley ? my DS was born 20 April, but I?m on the May thread because he was due 4 May! I love MN! Are you a scouter/guider (with that nickname). I?m a guider! I?ve got this thread on my watch list, so I don?t have to search for it.

BrummieMomInMerthyr ? good luck!

asur · 18/01/2007 20:15

Brummie - Dylan is very cute! So much hair!

BrummieMomInMerthyr · 18/01/2007 21:15

Thanks SAHM!
and thanks asur, he's already had it cut once

hockeypuck · 19/01/2007 10:01

I'm on the my mumsnet prfile thing too now.

Lovely pic of Dylan by the way Brummie - very cute!!

luckymummybigfattummy · 19/01/2007 17:32

Panic over! Have had a very stressful week looking for alternative childcare, but have finally managed to get a lovely childminder who lives in the next road to me! She is lovely and has a vacancy. What a huge relief.

How did PT request go brummie?

How do you do the MN profile thingy you are mentioning. Do you have to subscribe?

hockeypuck · 19/01/2007 19:01

luckymummy - so glad you found a nice childminder and as your lo grows up it will be nice for her to be so close when she begins to understand more about her neigbourhood etc.

The profile thing is easy, you dont have to subscribe - have a look in site stuff for it. Or just click on my mumsnet in the bar above this page and it'll take you through it.

To see someone else's profile, just click on their name in any thread.

BrummieMomInMerthyr · 21/01/2007 07:59

Thanks hockey, you have a gorgeous family too
Part time meeting went really well, had to meet with 2 of the directors but they were lovely to me and listened to my requests and preferences and offered a few suggestions of their own, but it's going to be down to the senior nurse to decide now, so took Dylan in to see the girls on fri afternoon and told her what i wanted!!! Should know for def next week. Went to see the nursery too which is next door to where i work and it seems lovely so back to work things seem to be working out now, but will still be to leave my pudding!

squidgeymiller · 22/01/2007 22:42

Hi all, have updated my profile. I'm too thick to get the picture into my wordy bits but have put a picture onto my pictures for you to look at my little giggler.

Dylan and Theo (and Issy) are lovely !!

hockeypuck · 23/01/2007 08:05

wow squidgy - Niamh is just gorgeous - she has such blue eyes, she'll break a fair few hearts that girl!

Theo has been learning new tricks last couple of weeks. He can clap his hands now and when you say "clap your hands" he does it and gets really excited. I had my first kiss from him last week, every time I get him up from a nap he leans in with his mouth wide open and gives a slobbery kiss, oh and if you pat his back when you hold him he'll do the same to yours. I love this age -I could just bottle him at the moment and keep him this way forever.

luckymummybigfattummy · 23/01/2007 20:38

Squidgy - love the photo. I too have now done my profile but I too couldn't work out how to out the photo on the profile page so it's on as my pictures. I think I only put it as able to be viewed by people in the May '06 thread, don't really know why, just felt weird putting all my details and photo of Sophie on t'internet.
Sqidgey, I also love Bjork. Do you like The Sugarcubes too? I just LOVED them when I was in sixth form, got all their albums. Bit way out but I still love listening to it.

I like reading the profiles, means we can all get to know each other a bit more! Come on the rest of you, get yours done!

Hockeypuck - Sophie too is learning new tricks. Now crawling, and clapping her hands on demand!! It's so cute, and she is so pleased with herself. We do it everytime she finishes a meal, I show her the empty dish, say 'oh look Sophie, It's all gone!!!' then we clap our hands cos she's been a good girl and eaten her food up!! She has started doing the waving action, but not in context yet! Blowing raspberries is another hot favourite. I just love her more and more everyday?!!

squidgeymiller · 23/01/2007 22:08

Hi Luckymummy, I've never heard of the sugarcubes. Are they like Bjork? I might have to look into getting some of their music - can you recommend an album??

Tried to look at your profile but I wasn't allowed. Would love to see a pic of Sophie.

Niamh isn't clapping her hands yet but she is blowing raspberries a lot and she'll clap my hand (or bang a tambourine / drum etc). She's really close to crawling but even cloer to walking - I never get a moments peace from her wanting to walk somewhere else - she's even trying the stairs, even though her little legs are just TOO SMALL!

She's also roaring a lot and saying yeh yeh yeh (weirdly kind of like the guy on the phones 4 u ad). Esp cute when you ask her a question (like are you a good girl) and she says yeh, yeh.

I know what you mean about loving her more each day luckymummy! Can't believe how you must feel with 2 kids hockeypuck!

Chat soon xx

tron · 24/01/2007 09:39

hi sorry i've been lurking for a while. Thought I'd update. Erin is doing well, still no teeth but she's crawling like a demon giggling all the time thinking she is such a clever girl (which of course she is ). It's so lovely to hear how veryone is getting on and i'll try and figure out how to do a profile too!!!

luckymummybigfattummy · 24/01/2007 14:13

Hi all. I will try and make my profile public so that you can see it!

Bjork was the lead singer of The Sugarcubes, an indie band from the late 80's/early 90's. Their albums are on play.com

www.play.com/Search.aspx?searchtype=allproducts&searchstring=The+sugarcubes&page=search&pa=search

Life's too good and Great crossover potential are good ones. If you like Bjork, you'll love this. You might recognise 'Hit' which was their biggest single in 1992 ish. It made top 20 I think, or even top 10.

Sorry everyone, for harping on about music!!

luckymummybigfattummy · 24/01/2007 14:19

Does anyone know how I can make my profile public? I initially set as only to be seen by mumsnet mates and typed in nicknames of May 06 thread. I have tried to change it but it's not working, even though I click save??!! Damn computers, I hate them.

luckymummybigfattummy · 24/01/2007 14:27

Squidgey - me again. I hope you realise what you have done!! I have just ordered the sugarcubes studio album collection from Amazon, 3 albums for £11.99, (bargain) as I only had them on cassette (so 80's). If you want to get something I would recommend this. £4 an album!!

SAHMof1 · 24/01/2007 19:20

Everyone?s babies are so gorgeous ?

My update - DS waves when you say ?bye? or ?hello? now! He gabbles away all the time now: mum-mum-mum-mum and dad-dad-dad-dad, in context too. And last night he asked to go to bed by saying ?non-night? !

squidgeymiller · 25/01/2007 12:04

Thanks Luckymummy. I've ordered the sugarcubes album but it's currently out of stock so may have to wait a while until I get it. Will be a nice surprise when it arrives though!!

BrummieMomInMerthyr · 25/01/2007 21:54

Squidgy and luckymummy, your girls are beautiful
Dylan has got 5 teeth now and he's having alot of trouble with the front ones coming through - thank goodness for medised and ashton and parsons powders!!
I'm jealous of the crawling and clapping babies, how clever! Dylan won't crawl cos every time he goes on his stomach he is sick,(he's got reflux) so doesn't like spending alot of time like that. His legs are very strong though and will pull himself up just by holding on to my fingers!
I really enjoy reading about all your gorgeous babies

hockeypuck · 26/01/2007 10:11

brummiemom - theo doesn't crawl either - he doesn't have the excuse of reflux, he just can't be bothered and he hates being on his front. Neither does he pull himself up or move at all. All babies are different. With him being my second I'm pleased he's a slow mover so we dont have to stairgate the house yet or move all the barbie shoes etc out of his reach.

DD never crawled, she hated being on her front too, she developed a kind of shuffle which meant she could hold onto toys etc as she moved and then eventaully pulled herself up let go and walked. They're all different with different little personalities, that's what makes them so interesting

SAHMof1 · 26/01/2007 17:31

I?ve put a picky of DS up now - all toothy grin and all!

asur · 27/01/2007 19:51

SAHM, I couldn't see your profile, said either you didn't have one or it was private... I haven't done one yet.

Nice to hear all the babies are doing well, amazing how much they can do now yet they're still so young! DS is still only crawling backwards - is quite funny to watch as he is aiming forwards but just doesn't get there

I was off work yesterday so managed to have a clearout of his clothes - got a BIG box of stuff that's too small for him - all sorted into age groups. Also had to dismantle his swing because he's too heavy for it.. and I discovered that he is also too heavy for his door bouncer! Ironic that now that he's getting more mobile, all the things that could keep him in a safe place are useless! Will have to buy him a cage!

If you haven't seen this and need a laugh, have a read of 'must-have' inventions VERY funny
