grannyapple hope the weekend goes ok for you, and your mil improves, hopefully dh will give her a bit of a lift. My dad flew through his first two weeks of chemo and then the past two weeks he's really suffered with side effects. He's on a week's break now.

Happy Birthday A xx

Thanks wiggles.
Zoe's birthday plans didn't work out. Her little brother decided to upstage her starting on Wednesday.
Had a trip to the GP for his reflux resulted in a blue light to yorkhill, at the surgery he started to struggle to breath, he was working very hard at it and spiked a temp. He's had X-rays. Ultrasounds and needles galore. He had 3 lumbar punctures canulas and numerous heel pricks. Poor wee sausage has a urine infection which was turning into a blood infection. We are waiting to head home now but we have to come back daily for IV antibiotics as an outpatient until Saturday.
It was bloody horrific and heartbreaking watching him go through all of the tests. On the plus side his reflux has been taken seriously and he has been prescribed meds for it.

Hope you are all well.

blizy - poor A and poor you! It sounds horribly stressful. I was thinking of Zoe on her birthday but didn't get around to posting.

Ponyo - how's the new house?

Nothing interesting here.

PonyoLovesHam · 03/03/2015 18:49

Oh blizy, that sounds terrifying Shock poor you, how are things today? They're so small anyway, then when they have to go through something like that they seem even more tiny and vulnerable. Also, how annoying it's taken this to get decent reflux meds Angry (I know it wasn't the cause, but still very frustrating). Sending hugs x x

Granny how's your mil?

American new house is fab, thanks! I've not really been on to update, I bloody love it. I keep feeling really happy all of a sudden at home and realising why BlushGrin it's nice to have enough room and storage for all of our crap, it's loads warmer than our old house and I've even got a dishwasher now!! Grin
The decor is not what we'd choose (if anyone has seen my horrible carpets on Facebook they'll know what I mean) but it's clean and we'll change it all eventually. I think buying from a couple that lived her for about 50 years and really looked after it made a difference.
The only downside is it now takes about 45 mins to get A to pre school in the morning (traffic), in the old house it took 5 mins! And A falls asleep on the way home every night bless her.

Better go and Get A ready for bed, she's currently watching my little pony on YouTube Hmm I had a sudden panic today that she will be going to school this year. I think it's bcos she's grown up a bit over night again, and height wise too.

Just a quick check in to see how Blizy and A were doing? Hope he's on the mend and you're getting some rest xxx

Getting ready for a few days off here, all 3 are off Mon and Tues for St Patrick's Day and tomorrow because there's a general teachers, public transport strike. We know how to organise a strike : on a Friday before a long weekend Wink

I'm glad you love the house Ponyo!

Wiggles, hope the strike wasn't too disruptive.

Alex is doing well. He had a hospital appointment on Monday past, I found out the severity of his illness, basically he had septicaemia and is very lucky it was caught right on time, dr said another couple of hours would have led to a very different outcome. This shook me up a lot! It seems his big sister was taking care of him. He has a to take an oral dose of AB's daily for the long term and has another referral for ENT as he has laryngomalaicia (floppy larynx) which effects his breathing. If its not one thing it's the other with this boy!

Hi all,

Sorry not been on in a while. Rl is busy atm and I had a certain special 15th birthday party I went to last week Wink .

Good grief blizy how stressful, you must feel like a bundle of nerves after that news. It's great you got him treated in time, the little fighter. I hope you're doing well in yourself. I love seeing the piccies on fb of the lovely Alex.

Wiggles, do you, ahem, think the strike was planned this week end on purpose to have a boozy week end off Wink

Porto, glad you're enjoying your new house. The carpets aren't half as bad as the ones I had in my old place. We had carpet in the kitchen. It was so yucky and old and dirty. You don't want to know how much dirty water came out of it when I tried to carpet clean it after I moved in.

Think I'm meeting granny tomorrow, so fingers crossed weather is good so the children can burn off some energy.

Hope everyone's having a lively Mother's Day. My gift apparently was ordered online and hasn't arrived yet .

Oh wow blizy scary stuff indeed...defo sounds like Zoe was watching over him. Hope the ENT referral comes through quickly. I've found that all the nhs referrals have come through fairly quickly for the kiddies down here so I'd hope they'd be quicker up there.

Unfortunately not able to meet reastie today as we've all come down with the lurgy in this house. Amelia has woken with a raging temp. Adam asleep at the mo but looks like we're stuck indoors. Hoping Amelia goes for a nap soon. reastie we will go for 3rd time lucky & pray no more illnesses! Was looking forward to the catch up & funding out about the MN party-how did you manage to get invited?

Hello, just a quick message to get you back on my threads I'm on list!

Hope everyone is feeling better and reastie's Mother's Day present has arrived by now Grin

News here is that A has grown 3 and a half cm in the last 6 weeks, that's a lot right?! Had to buy lots of new leggings and realised she may not fit in her bridesmaids dress for my friends wedding in May Confused

We have a wedding this month and then the one next month too, I feel like a right fat frump in my dress for the one in May (am sharing maid of honour/bridesmaid duties with another person so we have to wear the same dress) but have no motivation to do anything about it Blush reastie I loved the photo of you doing weights with Alice the other day, you look amazing!!

Ready for the Easter break, dp is possibly taking A to his parents for a few days so I may have some child free lie in days coming, hope so!

Hello all,

You fell off my threads and I've been busy and rubbish at checking (although not a lot of posts anyway!).

Granny I need to pm you about getting a new date sorted, sorry. We were busy the other Monday's at the end of term. How is a Thursday for you after Easter hols? Hope that would work .

Ponyo if it helps I'm feeling very miserable with my weight atm. I've put on 5lbs recently and its not shifting. My trousers are too tight and its so depressing. And I'm not even eating bad stuff, I'm just eating too much. I keep telling myself it's body pump and I'm building muscle, but it's not true. No advice other than I'm betting it's all in your head the frumpiness and you will look totally fab.

Oh reastie I'm really surprised to hear that, I think you look amazing! You're sure it's not muscle? I managed to get the belt on my jeans on the tightest loop last year, but now I'm back up a notch again Confused
I know for me I just need to exercise more and regularl and that really makes a difference, I'm just lazy! That's why I Loved the pic of you working out at home :)

Hope everyone's had a nice easter. A has been really good today, had a lovely day with her. Just put her to bed and instead of chatting to me to try and stay awake a bit longer when I tucked her in she said "bye bye!" and waved me off, she was definitely tired Grin

Ponyo working out at home is great, I recommend it :) so m ugh easier than having to drag yourself to a gym and I'm actually fitter now doing home workouts than when I went to the gym all the time. Try a beach body workout dvd set that you like the look of. I was sceptical but now I have done five of their programs and am really impressed by them, far better than the celeb ones. I'm currently doing pump and combat ones. Insanity is the holy grail imo though. My issue isn't working out, it's just gradually increasing my portions and eating little bits too much which is adding up. I have a fancy pants body fat and muscle scales so I know my fat is not shifting although I keep hoping it's inaccurate . I do look more toned though, even if my tummy is bigger. Maybe all my fat is just going from everywhere on my body to my tummy Wink .

Alice loved Easter too. We did a treasure hunt which she's made us relay for her about a hundred times to redo and we've had two egg hunts with different family members and she has soooooooooooooo much chocolate it's going to last us until Christmas (unless dh starts raiding her stash).

Wiggles, I loved the piccies of your girls on Easter.

I tried to post Friday but lost it. Hmm

Reastie - I've done more weight lifting since January and notice a difference. I'm amazed how much I enjoy it. I can only manage Body Pump at the gym twice a week and have been considering getting a weight set for home.

L is going through a "challenging" phase. Everything seems to be an argument, he's hitting, saying some horrible things to us, and generally pushing boundaries. He's hard work to be around lately.

Report
Reastie · 08/04/2015 08:04

American, agreed, I much prefer weights to cardio now. I've also read with weights you keep burning calories after you finish working out and muscle burns more energy than fat, so if you build more muscle my logic is you could get away with eating a little more maybe that's where I'm going wrong. I have a barbell set which I use for pump at home not a pump set with clips, but I have more choice with smaller weight options to increase weight slowly. I was miserable that the weight I was on was always at beginner level until I realsied my bar is heavier than the pump bar, so with no weight on my bar its 12lbs heavier than a pump bar, so I'm lifting 6lbs already without knowing :) working that one out means I'm top of beginner/intermediate level, yay. Hope the challenging phase goes away quick, it's really tiring when they go through difficult phases.

Thanks reastie, I'll look into some home workouts. I really like both pump and combat but insanity was too much! If it helps all my fat goes to my tummy too Hmm I'm jealous if your fancy scales! though I have a polar watch which I love haha! Great news about about being beginner/intermediate level though! I hate the bit in pump where you put the bar behind your neck on your shoulders and squat, it feels horrible and like I can't lift it off afterwards, I don't do it and just hold weights instead but want to do it too iykwim?!

American yuk to challenging phase. Hopefully it will pass soon... A has an annoying thing of always wanting to be right, though I suspect this is normal 4 year old behaviour. Pretty annoying though, especially when she isn't bloody right Hmm

Anyone on Facebook will have seen she has a pink pig cloak thing, one of her favourite games is for me to dress up as "piggy" ie put the cloak on my head and her to ride me around and boss me about whilst I snort. Which is fine when I'm in the mood but not when I'm tired and grumpy after work like today Confused

We've got so much easter choc left too, normally I'd be scoffing it but I'm trying not to. I see lots of rice crispie cakes being made soon!

Hi, dropped off my threads - good luck with school place madness. We don't hear until next week, but I got a bit of a nod from Sofia and Livs primary school last week that Anna would be ok. Siblings at the school is the second criteria, the first being parish (Catholic school) and we are not in the parish.

Mr Ws job actually gives us a special consideration (we can't live in the parish that the girls go to school in, well it's not recommended) so I bit the bullet and saw the school principal and he's been brilliant. A slight lecture (in a nice way) about not telling him when we were applying for Liv - there was more of a panic then about places and he could have saved me and therefore all of you from ranting Smile. It's strange - the school was really undersubscribed when Sofia was applying, we actually applied late for her and then a few years later you can't get near it for love nor money!
I'm putting my fingers in my ears and refusing to acknowledge that Sofia will be doing transfer tests next year and it'll be even more of a nightmare. She's already started practice tests in school - she's only 9 Sad

Ponyo - I've been doing Davinias 7 minute workouts at home - I can't stand her but it's been fab - not so much of a difference on the scales but a big difference in clothes sizes.

PrincessofChina - Reuben really is too gorgeous - hope all is going well.

Blizy - hope the beautiful Alex is doing well xx

Good luck to everyone waiting on school places. They seem so young to be starting school - they don't start until 5 here.

L is a bit less challenging now but is refusing to go to bed until 9:30 or 10. We decided to not force him into bed but he has to stay quietly in his room so we can relax. I heard him turn off his light at 10pm last night, though I'm not sure what he was doing until then. Confused
