Evening.

Happy birthday all.

Lovely to see you luis! Your sudden and brief visits give me a really strong image of our quiche dad busily rocking one baby to sleep while singing blackbird, cheering on DS who is chatting enthusiastically while knocking up a 5 course meal all the while keeping half an eye on all of us.

Busy times in crisp acres. We were down in the homeland of Dumfries and Galloway yesterday for my mum's birthday as were my sister, her baby and her partner. We had lunch out then went to visit my great granny. P slept all the way back home so was away until well after 10.

It was lovely to see everyone and it is always nice to see the babies together. Sadly I seem to have succumbed to some sort of bug and have spent most of today sleeping or on the loo.

That sounds lovely Sophia Smile Christmas traditions that I am going to carry on from my childhood are; Croissants for breakfast, opening stockings in parents bed, a mini stocking on the tree filled with sweets... I'm sure there are others but can't remember right now. And yep, going to London a week on Weds with Just Friends Guy.

BigPigLittlePig · 24/11/2013 18:35

Evening all! And especially to luis - nice to see you back with not-so-knackered knees. Although obviously dismayed to see you still posting at 1am...!

Shit night last night, bad mummy cried and shouted Blush but dh gave me rage as he said he couldn't settle F as it was too hard and he was tired Angry Anyway, she did eventually sleep on me for a few hours after a 3hr interlude. Perhaps she was wishing to recreate the sleepless night I had a year ago in early labour?!

Anyway, despite all that, she had a lovely day and was delighted with her rocking horse and walking trolley thing in particular, and the cake was a big hit, not a crumb left now though Shock. She has been flaked out in my arms for 20 minutes already as she's only had a 10 minute nap all day.

We also got her first shoes today - she seems quite taken with them!

Lying...dh is quite bad for telling white lies, also drives me mad. He is getting better with time though. He is also a shit liar which helps as I can tell and give him a withering look lol.

GT I hope you have had a lovely day - and hope someone has looked after you xx

Chasing look forward to hearing about London.

My mind has gone a bit fuzzy - sorry to the people I've missed out!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 24/11/2013 19:04

I am glad F had a good birthday bp and that your cake was a success. Xx

StuntNun · 24/11/2013 19:05

Ooh how exciting Stunt - another November baby Grin

Have just ordered my Secret Santa present - looking forward to wrapping it up all Christmassy Smile

PurplePidjin · 24/11/2013 20:29

I'm still torn on my SS pressie. I think this jumper will be for R, he's blessed on the hat front but we're a tad scarce on the woolly pully front - he grew out of the last one i made him in February Blush so votes please on what hat my SS should receive

A) bear
B) santa
C) suggestion?

Wish me luck, I'm nannying for a mate tomorrow (dc too ill for nursery plus settling in issues) so I'll have R plus his 11 1/2mo buddy from 9-2 Shock then work for a rest, then two again for part of Tuesday might text my mate with twins to see if she has any tips...

LuisGarcia · 24/11/2013 20:30

Pass, you're not too far off the mark tbh. Boring, aren't I?

Congrats to Stuntpriest and happy birthdays everyone.

BigPigLittlePig · 24/11/2013 20:38

Luis you are a superhero among dads - not boring. Ou est le fishe?

Good luck for tomorrow pidj. Re: the hat, not sure. You've done some awesome ones over the past year that have made it onto fb, F would have been delighted to have any one of those if she's lucky enough to be have been picked!. The only thing I would have said about Santa is that it has a relatively short timespan over which it can be worn without getting Hmm looks.

Gah, back to work tomorrow. Yuck. I've enjoyed my 3 day weeks the past fortnight! Much more my cup of tea.

Elizadoesdolittle · 24/11/2013 21:05

Sorry I'm bit late but happy birthday to minipig and GT. Sounds like F had a lovely day bplp and gt I hope you've been spoilt.

I did write a long post this mornig but mumsnet went down so I lost it. I now can't remember what else was on it apart from birthday greetings.

Had a fun day at the inlaws yesterday with an early xmas dinner. Sets the scene for us going to see father christmas tomorrow. I would have liked to have gone in December at least but I left it too long to book so tomorrow was the nearest slot to xmas I could get.

I love christmas markets. One of my faves is in Bath but I don't think we will make it there this year. Think I'll take the girls to the small one along the southbank and to go on the carousel. Debating on going to winter wonderland in hyde park. But think that might be too manic.

I keep changing my mind about what I'm getting for my secret santa. Going to bluewater this week so think I'll pick it up then. pp I think a santa hat would be very apt but perhaps a bear hat would get more use?

PurplePidjin · 24/11/2013 21:09

That's what i thought BP and Eliza

Bear, dragon or Unspecified Other?

Lily311 · 24/11/2013 21:09

pidj suggestion: owl? I love owls hope you got me.

Passmethecrisps · 24/11/2013 21:12

Owl!! Owlowlowlowlowl!

Everyone thinks owls are awesome, yes? You never hear anyone say "oh look at that owl. What a dick"

ChasingDaisy · 24/11/2013 21:14

O's bedroom has an owl theme Smile

BigPigLittlePig · 24/11/2013 21:15

Twit-too-whoooooo owl! Yep yep yep. Unisex and coooool.

Should head up to bed. Should, but there is more interesting stuff to do!

ChasingDaisy · 24/11/2013 21:16

Eliza, I'm taking O to the Southbank Christmas market a week on Weds Smile ignoring the fact I was there yesterday I agree that Winter Wonderland would probably be too manic for the little ones even though I would love to go

PetiteRaleuse · 24/11/2013 21:26

:o at 'look at that owl, what a dick' :o

BigPigLittlePig · 24/11/2013 21:27

We had an actual owl sat on the telegraph pole by our house the other evening, hooting away. Twas lush.

Elizadoesdolittle · 24/11/2013 21:31

Ooo good call, yes an owl! There are a lot of owl lovers in the quiche, me included.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 24/11/2013 21:32

We love owls too.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 24/11/2013 21:33

Just so you know.

Elizadoesdolittle · 24/11/2013 21:35

chasing Am doing E's new room when we move in an owl theme if that ever happens . I've bought her owl wall stickers, an owl cushion, an owl hook and an owl rug for christmas. Lucky her....she's gonna be like "what the fuck! Where are the loud noisy toys?!?".

YellowWellies · 24/11/2013 21:42

My pal has just moved to a fixer upper in rural Devon, he'd removed a window to tinker with the putty. Put the glass back in several hours later. Next morning lo there was a Tawny Owl asleep on top of his ladder!

Pidj I reckon a sweater with a name initial (like wot Polly and Molly had on Pigeon Street) would be sooo supercool!

ChasingDaisy · 24/11/2013 21:47

Loving the owl chat. When I was a kid and stayed at my Grandma's house in the New Forest I used to hear lots of owls.

YellowWellies · 24/11/2013 21:52

We had short eared owls on Orkney which hunt in daylight. I vividly remember waiting at our wee rural bus stop waiting to go into Stromness for my booking in appointment and having two of them swooping low (within a couple of feet literally) mid-courtship dance. Stunning. Google image them - they're beautiful critturs!
