This thread's topic is what size of nappies are your babies in? And how are the cloth bum babies doing?

I've met my HV once, and that was only because we were new to the area and she came round to snoop ask the standard Qs.

ChasingDaisy · 12/07/2013 08:06

I'm here, just struggling to post.

PetiteRaleuse · 12/07/2013 08:31

Morning all. Not a brilliant night here either, but she didn't eat a great meal yesterday evening. I'm still not sleeping. Meant to get a dr appointment this week but didn't get round to it. I was too busy repeatedly checking my inbox. In vain.

But then this morning a recruiter called me, all excited about my dream job which has just come on the market. So she is sending in my cv, which is nice. Long commute, but great company to work for.

Back to refreshing my inbox...

PurplePidjin · 12/07/2013 08:45

My hv is worse than a floating turd full of patronising outdated gas. I'm still waiting for her to call and tell me what support they can offer...

fruitpastilles · 12/07/2013 08:52

My hv didn't give a rats ass about S being so sick all the time, not until I told her we had a paeds appt, then she was full of info and reasons as to what it could be! Sorry love, too little to late.

StuntNun · 12/07/2013 08:59

Don't worry Chasing, ups and downs are to be expected, especially as XP is messing with your head. Over time the lows will get less low. Can you focus on O and your move next month?

Passmethecrisps · 12/07/2013 09:21

Hugs chasing

No pressure at all. Just wanted to know you were ok.

Why is it when we need to get out the house that P applies herself to toast nommage with particular concentration?

fruitpastilles · 12/07/2013 09:39

Just to keep you on your toes pass

Kyzordz · 12/07/2013 11:22

Morning all! Typically Eric has just woken from a nap when I've started writing this so I bet it takes ages to finish it now!!

Well, it worked, in fact it over worked, he woke late! Usually he does 8-7 so why when I put him to bed at 7 does he not wake till 8? That's 13 hours straight! I am not complaining but do wish I could give some needy quiche members a few of the hours I get!

eliza he can put away a phenomenal volume of food! If its home cooked or blw style he eats less and I am trying not to use too many pouches for meals but when he gobbles up a home cooked portion and the only other thing to hand is a pouch to top him up then that's what happens :/ I am going to get extra portions of food out of the freezer as when I made stuff a couple of weeks ago he was not eating this amount! Breakfast is still a small meal but he has that after his bottle so it's to be expected. I haven't tried to do breakfast first for a while as when I did he just cried for his milk, after all the sleeping he does he just wants milk when he wakes and I don't mind that. Absolutely brilliant about e btw, she is doing so so well!!!!! I hope you have a good time tonight :)

Lol det when elyza was little her crying would set off e! The paddling pool situation sounds rather funny though lol!

Bless him vq he might accept pudding type things at first? Eric loves a good bit of steak, I bet it feels nice on the gums! J has teeth doesn't he? Did he suck steak to bits or actually eat some? Well done to him I say :) e is like prs dd2, prefers ready made purée. He usually has puréed something and some kind of finger food. For example if I do spag Bol I do a bowl of purée and then give him some pasta and perhaps a dollop of mince and sauce if I can deal with the extra mess. At the least he has pudding on a spoon and usually wants some dinner spooning in because he can't eat quick enough!

you can't seriously both have a temp though? Too fucking unfair!!!! :( takes the bastard piss :( hugs :( on a lighter note I would love to meet you too :)

I am glad you all liked my sweary description :) it's the only way I am any good with my creative side, swearing :)

I could probably do that weekend :)

Brew for the bad nights :(

fatima here I don't have to take him but like to keep an eye on his weight and obviously when they weigh him they have something to say! I don't think I need to take him so often though, at first I worried about his milk and then I worried he wasn't having enough once he started weaning and now providing he drinks his 20oz I let him get on with it as usually he eats well and drinks less milk or the other way around, and he doesn't dip below 20oz and normally eats at least a pudding but that is getting very rare now, that he refuses food. Quite often I have to make something else as he doesn't like the first thing, or he finishes is and I have to give something else, but he does seem to be doing better these days and is offered plenty. They have all told me different advice but the last one made it clear she thought he was too big and at least twice I've been told to take one if not two bottles from him by the time I next see them. I am not taking his bottles, unless he stops wanting them, I'm not supposed to take them, am I? i know he needs at least 20oz so I try to use that as a guide and as long as he has that plus whatever extra and solids he wants I let him go with it. He isn't fat, he is fine IMO.

Glad you are still about chasing we just worry about you and miss you when you aren't there, hugs

pass cos that's how she rollllsssss

Eric is having a small snack. He woke peckish, so I have given him two rice cakes. That is an ok snack isn't it? Dinner is at 12

YellowWellies · 12/07/2013 13:14

Kyz awesome work on the new routine - E clearly got the memo!

VQ good luck with the job app.

Det Jonas and baby Pass were tag teaming weepiness / doing empathic crying fits when we met up. When one started crying the other's pet lip would wobble and they'd be off. Totes emosh!

Passmethecrisps · 12/07/2013 13:56

Yep! With the lovely smiling M in the middle looking completely confused!

P made her wee chum cry this morning with squealing.

Right - galvanised by Kyz's success I am trying a new thing today. 5 bottles is too many to fit into a day. It's daft. It means that p gets a bottle around 4-4:30 then dinner between 5-5:30 then a bedtime bottle 6:30. Daft.

So, today she had her bottle at 6:30, brekkie when she woke from her teeny nap at 8:30 then bottle at 10:30. She had lunch at 12 and is now rather fitfully napping. I hope to give her a bottle at 2:30 then tea at 5, final bottle at 6:30.

This seems much more workable. She properly nommed her brekkie and lunch today so I suppose as long as she does that the bottle plan should work. I think a whole actual slice of toast got eaten as well as some cereal. Lunch was about 2/3rds a plum pouch followed by half a fruit pot and two tomato crisp things. My goodness she likes crunchy things.

I know what you mean YW about BF just seeming less rigid. I don't know why that is but it does just seem to be. I wonder it is due to the making up of bottles, heating and so forth that means more forethought which then means a greater likelihood of imposing a routine? I realised that I have no idea what P's hungry cues even are anymore. I have no idea when she is hungry. I don't know which way round it goes - does she no longer show hunger because she knows she will get a bottle soon o m I giving her bottles before she can show it? No idea.

Anyway. Warm again . . .

Passmethecrisps · 12/07/2013 14:04

Oh. And I realise that my post makes it sound as though my baby gets fed convenience food and toast. She doesn't always! I have a freezer full of delicious and nutritious foods for her. Sadly though she is more likely to eat pouches. I try to have one homemade meal a day though at the very least. Right now I am just delighted she noms.

I actually enjoyed the Hmm look on my HVs face when I told her I started P spoon feeding thanks for EK pouches. She did Hmm face and started to talk about variety and range of foods etc. I took a lot of pleasure in ticking off every food she mentioned and assuring her that, yes, p did have a varied diet!

Did I mentioned that she asked me how I managed to get p eating from a spoon? I had a good mind to tell her to mind her own fucking business. Just so she can lecture other mums and pass it off as her expert knowledge. I wouldn't mind if she was honest about that and I thought she might share with kindness. But she won't.

I did notice that she didn't automatically book me in for another appointment. P sees the consultant in September so I am hoping we will be able to do without until then.

PetiteRaleuse · 12/07/2013 14:22

Your HV system thing would drivebme nuts. I would hate to have someone come to my house and tell me how to look after my children. Even at the beginning.

MadameGazelleIsMyMum · 12/07/2013 14:26

Need to catch up properly but having lovely day in the sun at social cricket sixes. Although all the women have been put in one team. The other women are giving me rage. Lots of simpering about not wanting to play by the proper rules and using a softer ball and bowling differently and flirting instead of x,y,z. I can't stand it. If you volunteer (this is completely optional) to play, play. Grrrr. Partly organisers' fault for assuming we want to be lumped together and be pitied and patronised, but its just casual sexism that is being actively encouraged by other women! Think I need more alcohol. And to bat like a motherfucker when it's my turn!

Passmethecrisps · 12/07/2013 14:52

Bat them into oblivion. I can't bear simpering.

PetiteRaleuse · 12/07/2013 14:52

Sounds awful gazelle Wine should help.

PetiteRaleuse · 12/07/2013 14:55

oh boys I am so rubbish at batting, very good with the balls though

^^ that the kind of thing you mean gazelle ?

PetiteRaleuse · 12/07/2013 14:59

Oh I missed it. AGAIN.

Giving myself the rage here.

MissMummy1 · 12/07/2013 15:31

Thank you very much for the advice about menieres stunt - no diagnosis yet but he is looking into the group. YW I am sure he would love a chat with your friend at some point too.

Gorgeous day here. We are out in the paddling pool and my wee sis has popped over with masses of cake - happy days all round!

LOL at the squealing pass - M was entirely oblivious to how much upset she caused them both Blush

Central quiche meet sounds lots of fun!

Glad the routine worked kyz

Hugs chasing if you are reading

madame more Wine - I hate woman like that Angry

StuntNun · 12/07/2013 15:48

MissMummy1 · 12/07/2013 16:05

Oh really?? Are we still on for a haggis/nun meet one day next week?

MissMummy1 · 12/07/2013 16:29

I am feeling extremely broody today. Not for another baby, noooooooooooo, but for another puppy! Someone please talk me out of this..

TheDetective · 12/07/2013 16:43

I have discovered I am a knob. Been frantically trying to get water in O all week. His nappies haven't been very wet, and I've been convinced he has been dehydrated.

Well, as always, O doesn't do things the way I expect.

Just offered him water out my glass. He is happily sipping away.

Hmm

Also, can someone please tell my child that he can not fucking climb over the fucking stair gate? Found him earlier with both feet on the bottom bar, him gripping on with his hands, frantically trying to find something for one foot to lever up on.

ARRRRGHHHHHHHHH!

Pikz · 12/07/2013 16:45

Lolol det try a bottle... Like a mini Evan bottle but with tap water in...it's how water gets drunk in this house!

Madam seriously I want to punch them!

PetiteRaleuse · 12/07/2013 17:01

Aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrggghhhh. DD1 was in the garden playing with stones. I was watching from a distance but then noticed she was playing with one in particular, lifting it up to her mouth. Went over to give her a lecture on not putting stones in her mouth again and it was not a stone. IT WAS A FUCKING SNAIL!!!!!! She was scooping out the gunk part, ie the snail, from the shell and eating it, getting it smeared all over her face.

A) poor fucking snail. May it RIP.
B) ewww
C) am going to kill DH for introducing her to (cooked) snails as a food
D) and most importantly, she'll be ok won't she?

Her face and hands have been washed.
