Diege - you won't be that far from me when you're in Kensington, d'ya reckon you'll be able to grab a coffee/lunch?

What's the general consensus on walkers? I talked to a friend today who uses one, and it sounds tempting as Nat is sooo heavy my back is killing me. Will I damage her for life?

Rodeo - I have the bebe confort creatis rearward facing seat and it's ace. I'll def. stick with bebe confort for the next seat up, which is the one you're talking about I think.

Feel very smug - have spent 3 hours cooking Nat some yummy food out of the AK book. Freezer now full to bursting Grin

Nat has really changed over the space of a few days. It really freaks me out when she does that, her face is more defined and she's really interecting with everything around her and enjoying activities. Can't believe how quick she is at grabbing things and have to keep such a close eye on her at all times.

Diege · 13/06/2006 19:39

Evening all!!! NOVA: thank you sooo much for the socks!! What a lovely surprise Smile, you are kind; but how disappointing for you that they were too small for Nat !Sad. Do they come in bigger sizes?? She has had the red ones on already and looked so cute in her door bouncer - like a proper ballerina on tippy toes!!Grin.
Hi KARMA! Good to hear from you SmileElla sounds like she's really coming on, what a cutie with her giggly swinging!
BEKS: lol at Ben finding a clear space to fill with toys!!! I know the feeling of hlepless panic when you look around the room, followed by a sense of resignation that no matter how good it looks before you go to bed, it never lasts.. Have a good parent's evening!!!Smile
Right, getting the bottles done early tonight so I can get a head start on the holiday washing Sad!!

Diege · 13/06/2006 19:43

x-posts NOVA!! Would be great to meet up for a quick coffee, though would have to be before 10am on the 23rd as this is when meeting starts (there's no fixed finish time) I'll be travelling to the tube station around 8.30am ish anyway, so would have 40 mins or so to kill. Think there's a few coffee places on the road heading out of the station up to the Regency?? If it's a faff for you dont't worry!! I'm baby-free for once, so it's easy peasy for me!

Diege · 13/06/2006 19:46

Oh and I say go for the baby walker Smile. The fuss about them I think relates to babies falling down stairs when in them, but obv. this is preventable!! Also some panic about too much weight on ankles, but I would think you get one that's the right size/height for your baby anyway! I say go for it- was a godsend for us!!

Karmamother · 13/06/2006 20:14

Can I make a wee comment about the baby walkers? My exH is a physio & when we had DS he told me they could interfere with the development of their gait when learning to walk, rather than it being a safety issue, IYSWIM. Can't remember the details so I can't be more specific than that, I'm afraid.

GarfieldsGirl · 13/06/2006 20:16

OK, attept no.5 to post today. BT are trying to tell me my broadband connectiobn is useless cos my Sky bvoxes mess up the signal!?!? If I want a decent bb conncetion I have to get rid if Sky, well I'm sure they can guess what I think of that idea. I'm sure I'm not the only person who has Sky & bb! Sorry rant over, hopefully this will get posted, please excuse spelling/grammar am typing v quickly.

TM - you've every right to be Angry. hs she got Los? maybe people without/older ones don't realise the importance of it. Poor Tessa, everything all at once

Wrinkly - Blush for you with ds pulling trosers down Wht are your LOs names?

nova - was wondeing wat had happened re ex-members Blush Blush oops

Car seats – Sean really likes his forward facing one, although his weight is not high enough for it, but is long enough and strong enough. Rodeo – I’ve got an MN/mothercare book – Maxi Cosi rating is 7.98, Bebe Confort – 7.78. HTH a bit.

Diege – there are Subs up north???? I’m so excited, theres 5 in Pompey, so get big withdrawal symptoms when in Chester or Wrexham and I can’t get one, although I only usually eat them when drunk!! They don’t taste the same sober Blush

Karma – thanks for that re carrot & broc. I tend to keep foods separate in bowl, then put little bits together on spoon, saves yucky loking combos!

Nova – go for it with walker I say, Owen is fine, and Seans been using it for months. I don’t see the probs with them personally when used properly/sensibly. Only an idiot wolf plonk them on top of stairs!

Foingers crossed this works...

GarfieldsGirl · 13/06/2006 20:18

x-posts Karma - Owen's walking is fine, he walked at 9 months too, so no probs, I guess if you leave them in it for hours on end, then yes, I'm sure it would mess them up.

And meant would, not wolf, where did that come from?

ChaCha · 13/06/2006 22:58

Hi girls :) Be warned this may be long, lots to catch up on/reply too.

Oh Nova - You made me giggle Grin I know what you mean by smug feeling. Standing in my apron steaming lots of fruit and veg from AK recipe book in a very mummyish, smuggish, contented cowish, Nigella-ish sort of way with little pots, ice-cube trays, spoons and blender laid out on counter in deli advert kind of way! Bet you don't have Radio 4 humming away in the background though Blush Am I old before my time?

Tessasmum - Oh, poor Tessa :( Hope that she isn't too badly sunburnt and that hair situation is nothing too serious. Let us know how she is.

Beksmum - We did it!! Grin But I should have texted you dear..it seems that you scheduled the rain just as I was leaving baby clinic!! Needless to say we got soaked but was it refreshing?!? Oh Yeah!

At 28 weeks LO is weighing 18.2 lbs keeping him on the 50th centile. I assume this is average weight for his age.

Karma - It's been a while. Good to see you post again. Ellas sounds just lovely.

Diege - Thank you for colour tips. I would never have thought of a burnt orange!! I don't have that colour so will be on lookout. Will need to ask you and Nova next time I get in a pickle with colours.
The place you are going to in Kensington is where my parents met 31 years ago :) I lived there as a baby until we moved to N.Kensington a little later. Small world.

Rodeo - Hope all's well. Was such a relief NOT to be doing any washing today. Was sick of bringing it in and out Blush

GG & Wrinkly - Helloooo.

Tinytots woman called back. DS is too young for it and they no longer do gymbabes!! Am gutted.

I have a confession to make and feel v.guilty. Yesterday we started on the 3 meals a day planner. To cut a long story short I stayed out longer than I planned to today and DS did not have his 3 meals today Blush His milk intake is still the same so not worried about him not eating IYSWIM. I just wasn't organised enough today, consequence of 4 hours sleep. Glad I wrote that now.

DS is turning over in a blink of an eye, am with you Nova on your update. He is trying very hard to crawl and can creep and roll to get to his toys, bottle caps (his favourite) or other items. He puts his hands up now (just half way) which is lovely and makes such a funny (i'm a big man) pose when lifted onto his feet using hands.

That's it for me you'll be glad to know. Sorry for the biggie but hey, it makes good bedtime reading.
See you all tomorrow x

ChaCha · 13/06/2006 22:58

Long!!! Slight understatement Blush

Diege · 14/06/2006 09:49

Morning everyone Smile. Loved your long post CHACHA; yes, it was good reading Smile and little Z seems the picture of contentment!
Have promised dds a trip to town on the bus this afternoon (what have I done!!!!), so hoping rain will hold off; NOT impressed yesterday getting b ack from work/nursery with no coat and muddy sandled feet! Shock.
Hope everyone is enjoying the return of the nice weather!
Diege Smile

browniechick · 14/06/2006 13:00

Hey All - gosh so much has happened since I last managed to post - not with me, but on here!
Poor little Tess, with sunburn & beasties, hope she is on the mend - would def mention to sil - don't want a repeat of that episode!
We haven't started using Thomas's next stage car seat yet, although I think he weighs enough now - but we have the M&P one, someone (this thread?) posted a link to the which report? and it came second - anyway, can't remember where I got it from - not at home at the moment (at work!) so will post link when I get home later. - please remind me someone, else I will forget!
Have a good day, speak later (I will remember to post the link, I will remember to post the link.....!)

Brownie

ChaCha · 14/06/2006 13:05

Hi Diege :) Hope you have a lovely afternoon out with the girls. More shopping huh? Wink

Meet up - What time for meet up pls? Shall we say 12? And the park that we mentioned before?
I will need to meet dad at some point in Victoria before going onto City Centre with him.

Let me know girls x

tessasmum · 14/06/2006 14:28

Hello all!

Thanks for messages of concern for Tessa. The beastie situation has been dealt with I hope, now we all smell of tea tree not just the nappy bucket Smile, and the sunburn is only a bit pink now. Thanks for comb tip Rodeo, someone else pointed out that you can get them on prescription but GPs try not to admit it! I just got a cheap one to start with.
I will speak to SiL about the sunburn, I just wasn't in the right frame of mind to tackle her appropraitely on Monday night!!! Not sure who asked but she doesn't have LO's of her own but had managed to wear a long-sleeved shirt herself so she was at no risk of getting burnt! (Feel BP rising again, will change subject quickly!!)

ChaCha - glad Nova filled you in on prices for signing, mine would have been a few years out of date. Tessa was 11 months when we started classes but we had been signing with her from about 7 months and she had started signing back from 10 months. I enjoyed them but was one of the ones having to retrieve her child from other's changing bags/the open door/under the table looking for the 'props' bag/etc Smile
I found out about Gymbabes for Ash but its totally the wrong time of day, just after we pick Tessa up from pre-school, so think we will have to wait for TumbleTots too.

Thanks for SocaTots info GG, will check that out too, tho he's built more like RugbyTot!
Talking of which, Nova, (sorry, couldn't resist!!) I'm SO glad your GP talked a lot more sense than the HV. Same centile for weight and height = beautifully in proportion to me.

I think you are right to be worried about the stupid woman giving such bad advice to others tho. You have always struck me as someone who is happy to follow your instincts, which were telling you she was wrong, but she had you worried.

Hello Wrinklytum - as another mum of 2 (DD of 3.4 and DS 7 months) I wish I had thought of that name Grin

ChaCha - don't worry too much about missed meal. We went to a friend's this morning, Ash was too interested in all the other children to nap and is now still asleep having missed lunch! And we have been doing 3 meals a day for ever Smile
Will try and have a look at somewhere to meet for Tuesday tho don't know the area at all. Who's coming?

Sorry to those I've missed

Rodeo · 14/06/2006 14:55

Hi :)
Been trying to play some Nick Jr. games with Joe but he's lost interest! They were taking too long to load! Oh well...
Yes please Brownie, would be good to see which report - I tried to find it yesterday to no avail!
Hi Karma :) Nice to see your name pop up - awww, Ella in her bouncer!
Nova, I thought the worry about babywalkers (& bouncers & baby carriers) was the pressure on their pelvic/hip areas - although I think it's only a worry if they're in them loads. Oh and using them at the top of a flight of stairs when you haven't got a stairgate!! I'd say go for it, Bella had one and really enjoyed it. She didn't walk til 16 months but don't know if the walker was a factor? Probably not...:)
Wrinkly Grin at getting your trousers pulled down! Theexact thing happened to my friend at the park on Monday, her little girl tripped and pulled her skirt down - luckily I was the only one around - but how I laughed! Haha! Let that be a lesson to you all, don't wear elasticated waists! Especially if the elastic's going and you're around small children!
Hope town went well Diege (mad, mad woman)
How's little Tessa today??
Chacha, you are daft, confessing to 'starving' Zayn! I'm sure if he was hungry he'd have let you know!! Gosh, if you feel guilty about that then you're going to be one one huge guilt trip for the rest of your life as a parent (ie forever!) Don't worry about the little things, my love :)
Forgot to say I had my Tarot cards read on Monday evening! (yes, that's twice in one week I've been dabbling in the occult Grin, dp keep threatening to tell my Grandad!). It was quite fun actually, and she did tell me some things which seemed to strike a chord. But it was all generally good and optimistic, yay! :)

Diege · 14/06/2006 19:49

Oooh RODEO, I've always fancied getting my cards done..glad your 'prophecy' was good!! Anything exciting on the cards then??
Trip to town was good; girl's all pretty good, though Scarlett really had a thing about pretending to fall over on buses, because she knows how cross I get if they don't hold on properly (whoahhhhhay mummy...I'm falllling!!!!), much to amusement of Jasmine, her biggest fan (though L has started to snigger too!). Only bad thing was that I've managed to lose one of the wheels of our buggy board Sad; something I've takenforgrnated, but now struggling to think how we'll get the walk to nursery done tommorrow!! Could be the bus again!!
LOL CHACHA- yes, I did have a little spend, though only on a pair of school sandels for J (oh and a copy of Grazia for me!).
Have been doing some 'lurking' on ttc sites, and also the due in NOV 2006; really brings it all back again. Have been thinking alot about the possibility of no.4 over the past few days, but can't be for a least 4 years or so (ie. all in school), or I would have a nervous breakdown!!! There again I am 36 now, and don't really wanht to leave it till my 40s.
Just thinking aloud, soz if bored you all to death!!
Speak later!
Diege Smile

GarfieldsGirl · 14/06/2006 20:15

Just a quickie as hunting for a new car sob, sob, its so silly getting attached to a lump of metal, but I loved my car. DP thinks FIL may be paying us a visit in a couple of days, fingers crossed eh!

Diege - what type was your buggy board. Mine has been used about twice, it got in my way, and Owen wasn't too keen. If you want it, its yours. I'll try and find a link to one that looks the same.

GarfieldsGirl · 14/06/2006 20:24

Buggy Board is the rectangular style like \link{http://www.kiddicare.com/bin/venda?ex=co_wizr-xapian&threshold=0&bsref=kiddicare&searchfld=&searchpage=&searchinvt=1&searchstry=&searchlike=1&itemsperpage=15&filtercat=shop&srchopt=V%2CU%2CC&carryfields=V%2CU%2CC&V=&C=&U=&searchex=buggy+board&go.x=16&go.y=10\these}. Its red with footprints on.

tribpot · 14/06/2006 20:28

Tessasmum, sympathies. Your dh informed me of the hair situation, is he going to shave his off?! Apparently conditioner works well, used every 2-3 days to keep the little buggers from being able to hang on. (Sorry if this has already been said, haven't read all of recent posts).

And big sympathies re: the sunburn, I would go flipping mental myself, quite happy to explain why to your dh in non-diplomatic language if necessary!

Apols for hijack, just lurking whilst I wait for my dh to finish with his medication and we can get on to dinner. Take care - hoping to see you end of July.

browniechick · 14/06/2006 20:38

Ok, so I have remembered to do the link, and now I can't work out how to do it! I've got it as an acrobat doc, rather than as a link to the website - bugger! Rather than email to whole yahoo group as an attachment (although I can do that if you like?) Do you want to let me have your emails (via yahoo if you prefer) then I will forward the report to all those who are interested? Those not on yahoo who want the report, let me know and I will forward to your email if you let me have your address.
sorry - can't think how else to do it!

Brownie

Diege · 14/06/2006 21:11

Oh GG you have saved my life!!! That is sooo kind of you Smile. Let me know how much you would like for it, inc.p&p and I'll send you a cheque asap.

novadandypowder · 14/06/2006 21:42

I've decided to take on a part time voluntary admin post at the animal home, two afternoons a week starting tuesday. Think I need to get my brain working again and keep out of the childminders way before I make her quit (I'm a nightmare, don't know how our cleaner has put up with me for so long!)

Also, have discovered a revolutionary way of cooking for purees (sorry Chacha, only for those with a microwave). You can get bags that you put the food in, bung in the microwave and voila - cooked veg in 2/3 mins. If any of you knew about this already, then you could have told me!!! Wink

GarfieldsGirl · 14/06/2006 21:47

Diege - I'll stick my address on yahoo. A fiver for it will do and I'll let you know how much p&p is. I've lost one of the little bits that goes on buggy I think, but you'll have that anyway.

Nova - fab re voluntary work. Will be great for you to get a bit of time to yourself outside of the house. I've been doing that with the veg, sorry, thought you of all people would have already discovered it! Wink

Diege · 14/06/2006 22:07

That's great GG, so kind of you Smile. NOVA: yes, I do my veg like this too for dds 1&2 and me and DH, but never thought of doing it like that for purrees!!! What a durr brain I am!!!!!!!!
Right, bed for me. Bad night last night (back to 5am starts again after a 'cruel' reprieve) so hoping to get a head start!
Night!
Diege.

wrinklytum · 14/06/2006 22:22

Hi folks hope that you have all had a good day with your little ones.

In answer to your queries here are a few quick stats.

DS is 2 and a half.His name is Ross.Birthday 30/11
DD is 6 months.Her name is Ella.Birthday 28/11

I live "Up North" Yorkshire to be precise.I am not a native but have been here 15 years,so am hoping they may let me in without a passport soon.(Only joking any Yorkshire people here,I love the county and dp is a Yorkshireman.Would hate to offend anyone)

When not popping out "bairns" I am to be found working part time as an alleged "health care professional" (Blairspeak for nurse) on a very busy ward.Dp is a carpenter.I am old enough to be tuning in to Radio 4 rather than Radio 1.

Thats enough about me,its very boring really!

Can I ask a question about development.DD is not yet rolling over though has more or less got sitting balance. This could be to do with the fact the poor little thing has been largely confined to her rocker as if left on the floor DS is liable to tread on her.Your little ones sound more adventurous from reading the thread.

Had to laugh about the carrot/broccoli thing.Generally it seems what goes in looks very similar when it comes out!!!Will be very glad when I can stop pureeing and dd can manage more lumpy food and eat what we all eat.Have any of you started adding meat/fish to your little ones diet? Cant for the life of me remember when I started all this with DS.You think you will never forget but you do.Are any of you still bf ??I am struggling to get dd to have anything other than breastmilk she wont entertain a bottle,am also struggling with beakers.Any suggestions gratefully received.Must go now as very tired and need a bit of sleep before her ladyship wakes for her next guzzle in the wee small hours. What I wouldnt give for a proper nights sleep.......

Tex111 · 14/06/2006 22:41

Hello ladies!

Welcome Wrinklytum, Rosie is 7.5 months next week and she's only started rolling over in the last couple of weeks. I also worried that she was getting enough opportunities (I have a 3 year old) but she seems fine. Now that she's got the hang of it she rolls all over the place. Smile We started adding meat about a month ago. Rosie's dietician says she should be having two servings of protein a day, which surprised me at this early stage. Rosie does have some problems with milk and soya though so I don't know if the same applies to all babies. And Rosie's favourite beaker is one called KOTG. I think it stands for 'Kids On The Go'. It's just a little spout with no valve and it's the only thing she'll drink from besides a bottle. Hope that helps!

Nova, great news about the voluntary work. I'm so envious! You'll get regular 'grown up' time. Smile

ChaCha, you're so funny 'confessing' about DS's meals. I must confess that today I was so engrossed in the Hello pics of Brangelina with baby Shiloh that Rosie almost flipped herself out of one of those trolleys with the baby carrier. Another woman reached out and grabbed her. I had forgotten to do up the straps. Blush I was so embarrassed and kept thinking about what might've happened. My hands were shaking when I did the straps up. Bet I never forget to do them up again! And I'm so sorry but I don't think I'll be able to make the 20th meet-up after all. I totally forgot that it's the day after we get back from Disney. I have a feeling that we'll all be tired and cranky and suffering from Mickey withdrawal.

Diege, good to see you back!

Hiya Beks. Rodeo, Karma, Brownie, Tessa and everyone else! BoB, are you out there?

We're off to Disney Paris bright and early tomorrow. I'm looking forward to it but it's bittersweet as my grandmother died on Sunday and we couldn't go to the funeral because of Disney. They wouldn't postpone or give any kind of refund! Very sad to not be in Texas at the funeral today as there will be family from all over the States coming in and I know Mom would like for us to be there. Luckily my sister has flown in from California and my brother is in the same town so Mom has lots of support. I've been calling every day and she sounds like she's doing OK. Just wish I could be in two places at once.
