Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
tessasmum · 25/06/2006 15:41

Welcome from the tea tree house AGAIN!!!! Not sure if its re-infestation or I just didn't do it properly last time. All I know is that everything smells of the damn stuff!

Jen - how's Finn now? What was his sleep like before you went away? We took Tessa camping at 7mths and it completely blew her sleep routine - had been sleeping through from 13 weeks but not after trip away. Am hoping that it works the other way round for Ash as he still doesn't sleep through and we are off to my parents on Weds for 6 days!
Am I mad taking both of them on the plane on my own? Managed the trip to London no problem but realise now that Ash was restrained in the backcarrier! I just hope its a quiet flight or the person next to us is going to be in for a rough time My little adventurer won't believe his luck with so many new things to explore!
Spent a lot of yesterday comforting him and wiping tears as he seemed determined to stretch his abilities and kept getting stuck/bumped/falling/etc Hasn't dampened his enthusiasm at all though!

Nova - glad TT were great, way after my time I'm afraid Will you be watching the match to see if you can spot DH or is it just me that does that?!

Right, off to sort out ice-cream maker before the match - chocolate cones with sprinkles anyone?

browniechick · 25/06/2006 16:20

Oh yes please TM - chocolate cone with sprinkles and flake sounds good

Well our tooth has finally broken through the gum poor little might has been teething very slowly for about the last 3 or 4 months! But now it has pierced the skin and is very sharp - think it is causing him some jip - his appetite is less than usual and he is a bit grouchy - which I suppose is understandable. At least he has something to show for it now though!

Best go, grouchy little boy on DHs knee - during football - not a good combo!

ChaCha · 25/06/2006 16:29

BoB - How awful! Can you get in touch with local MP about this? Start some sort of campaign/petition? We have a very narrow (major)road that connects two parts of town here. Unfortunately the pavements are so narrow you have to watch out for cars, parked cars (on pavement) and is impossible to actually walk on pavement when students queue at bus-stops/vehicles are unloading/parking. It's a nightmare and I've made a complaint.

Sorry to hear about hospital afternoon. I do hope everything was okay and nothing serious, especially not for Oz.

Diege - You're meals for LO sound scrumptious, well done!! I have been feeding the poor boy the same kind of thing everyday so was a major achievement to get into gear and do something different (even if it was a no-no! he he) I bought some Organix rice cakes and they seem to be a good snack too. A little (understatement) messy but good. Get on with your papers!! You know you'll kick yourself if they all come back and you've not started. Marking papers....aghhhh, how can i forget?!

Nova - Sounds like a great night! Hope everything goes okay at Dr.

Tessasmum - I would also be looking out for DH Are you going over to Ireland? How did i miss that? You'll be fine, I'm sure.

right, LO is now awake and tryingq

ChaCha · 25/06/2006 18:38

Just made some banana and chocolate muffins for the first time Yet to pass them round, will see if they are any good. Also made some easy peasy fruit queen cakes. I have been following in the footsteps of Jenjam...

..anyone have a recipe for banana and date cake? BoB maybe? And do you make Tzatziki on your mezze platter? I made some last week and everyone liked it - was nice with wedges, hummus, celery/carrot sticks etc.

New found recipes in the Tesco magazine, he hee!

ChaCha · 25/06/2006 19:32

Hello ChaCha [snigger] Sorry at a loose end, thought I shouldn't be, there are 1001 things to do.

The queen cakes were yummy but the muffins were overcooked on top and undercooked inside. think oven was too hot and on wrong tray.

I knew you were all waiting for that update with baited breath. Hope I didn't keep you all. [sarky cow grin]

I will go now and pretend to be v.busy. x

tessasmum · 25/06/2006 19:56

Brownie - Tut tut, a flake as well would just be greedy! Good idea though

ChaCha - muffins are great to make with children too as you get from weighing to eating very quickly!
No Banana and date cake recipe here but I do have a great banana and chocolate one and a banana, orange and cranberry one. Probably not on the Slimmers World list though
Don't think I've mentioned going home so you haven't missed anything. Only booked it last w/e. Funny how I still call it home although I haven't lived there for (arrrgghh!) 21 years (am I really that old?) and my parents don't even live in the same town I grew up in.
Should be good though as I haven't seen my Mum since December (she had operations on her feet in January and is only just mobile again and my stepfather couldn't cope with visitors!! Not sure what they will make of Ash now - Mum said 'Oh he will find our wooden floors far too slippery to move around on'!!! I think not, he will be everywhere

OK, baby in bed behind me, must go.
Night night

Rodeo · 25/06/2006 20:08

Evening!
Had a great night last night - first time I haven't had to get back to breastfeed so I felt very liberated! No hangover either - just tired, early night tonight - I'm such a granny!
Nova, last night sounds fab, 2 friends of mine went too last night so will get the low-down from them soon!
Chacha, you domestic goddess , your lucky dh, my dp would be in heaven - he loves cake!
Tessasmum, I'm sure the children will be fine You always come across as v.relaxed so I'm sure it'll rub off on them
Diege, hope the papers are going ok, you can do it! Jess loves the fruity jars with a dollop of greek yog - I like the fruit jars, and apart from mashed bananas & strawbs, the're the only fruit Jess gets
Bob, how terrible - Agree a letter to councillor/MP would be a start, seems only a matter of time before somebody is killed
Well done little T for cutting your 1st tooth
Hope everyone enjoyed the game, we had a BBQ at my BILs, (would have much prefered Bob's match time snacks though - sounds delish!) Joe wore his beloved Beckham England kit, and was v.happy Becks scored
Right, off to do a bit of tidying, speak tomorrow

Diege · 25/06/2006 20:18

Evening everyone .
MMMMmmmmm CHACHA, those cakes sound gorgeous!!!! There are some pretty good SW recipes for cakes that actually taste better than they look. If you're actually joining up, you get the mag half price, and access to member's only part of the website (though I can tell you the password - it changes weekly!) which has loads of yummy cake recipes too . Actually you will probably find SW very do-able ; think you are a fellow quorn-addict?? It's 'free'food (ie, as much as you like!!!!) TESSASMUM: you will be FINE!!!The worrying is often worse than the reality with these things! Agree with RODEO, you do seem very chilled and easygoing, so kids should indeed pick up on this
BROWNIE: sounds like Thomas is bearing up with the tooth!! Is it a lower one? (think they always are?? Could be wrong)
RODEO: Think you deserve an early night after all your nocturnal activity recently! Bet little JOe looked cute in his kit . I held Libby up to the screen when David Beckham was on and she shouted 'Da-Da', lol... Oh well, a girl can dream...

ChaCha · 25/06/2006 21:31

ROFL Diege at Libby's da-da!!! Ha ha!! Ha ha!!!! Still laughing, hilarious..a girl can dream...ha haaa heeee heeeeeeee! Am now over tired....
Thanks for all the reminders re: slimming world, I start tomorrow don't I? Will get onto website now and see what's what.

Rodeo - It sounds terrible but when I stopped b/f I felt like I had a new lease of life. As mentioned to Londoner at meet up I hope to be more relaxed and not so tired when b/f a second, if there is to be one. I found it so tiresome TBH but once stopped missed it. Glad you had a great night out, lovely!

Tessasmum - Rodeo is right. You are a very chilled out sort of mum. Will rub of on kids.

Beks - I don't know what it was about that meet up that brings big grins to my face but today's was Ben's calling Tessa 'sweetheart' Think it was my friend's 3 year old telling me 'she was knackered' (mummy talk) that prompted that one. Kids are so funny at that age.

Right. Definitely off for the night. SW tomorrow and here goes ....

GarfieldsGirl · 26/06/2006 07:59

Good morning!

BEKs - good on Ben for winning you a lovely b'day pressie . Owen's school fete was Sat too, he spent the whole time on bouncy castle and throwing water at the man in the stocks!

ChaCha - you're msgs made me giggle this morning! Love the 'Hello ChaCha'!! An unbroken nights sleep, sounds lovely.

bob - sounds like something def needs to be done re that junction. Thinking of you whatever your reasons for the hosp appts xx Hope you had a goo night last night.

TM - I'm sure you'll manage perfectly! Have a good time at 'home'. DP is the only person that I know who doesn't call where they're from 'home'. But if you'd ever seen Buckley you'd understand why he wouldn't want to be associated with such a dump. Full of knives, guns and needles scattered around everywhere, we hate it.

nova - hope doc can help today. TT sounds great.

Brownie - well done T for cutting that tooth, know what you mean about but [happy]

Diege - lol at 'da-da' at David Beckham. If only Sean would say that to John Terry [dreamy eyed emoticon], or Steven Gerrard, or Lamps, I'm not fussy! Hope you're getting some marking done!!

Should go and wash up really, must stop putting it off...

ChaCha · 26/06/2006 08:51

Morning GG,

Well, guess what? For the past few days there's been some sort of flyer to the side of our doormat, haven't paid it much attention thinking just an ad for local takeaway etc..lazily left it where it was until...

...this morning. Picked it up and looked at it...and what was it advertising..

SLIMMING WORLD

starting at one of the leisure centres..

Is someone trying to tell me something now do you think?

Londoner · 26/06/2006 09:34

Hello,

Aaah, E awake now..... erm, under pressure...

Diege, lol about Libby and Beckham! Lol alot about mouldy spots in wash basket, nightmare! Hope you get your marking done in record time.....
ChaCha, baking sounds gorgeous!
GG, fantastic new car, sorry to hear about stolen stuff, good idea about indelible ink.
BoB, hope you and O okay... and you really sound like domestic goddess!
Golden, how's it being back at work?
Rodeo, so good to hear you had a relaxing night out and not rushing back to bf.... lol @ buzzy things!
Jen, any more cakes from you.... every time I hear your name I think of that amazing chocolate orange one, mmmmmm.
Brownie, lunch sounds lovely, so sweet to hear of T's new chatting[smile.
Nova, hope N feels better soon.
Lil, hi, good to hear your news.
Tessa, sorry about the crawlies. It's good to worry about those trips in advance, being prepared mentally is half the battle won already.
BEKs, when is your birthday then? Are you keeping it secret from us..... Happy Birthday! ....just in case. How are you feeling this week?
Hi twinkle and L&Smum!
Aaah gotta go, sorry if I missed anyone....

Londoner · 26/06/2006 09:49

Tex, how are you doing? Are T and R better?

goldenoldie · 26/06/2006 10:02

Hello Londoner! Work is good, but I'm tired already, and it's only Monday...............

Londoner · 26/06/2006 10:17

Heeeeey Golden!

I'll bet you are! Isn't the house a bombsite when you leave for work on a Monday morning after full house on a weekend? How d'you manage, isn't it a case of a sort of massive stuck-on grin for the nanny? Also, did you manage to get back into your old work clothes already? Can't believe it if you have that would be fast work!

Diege · 26/06/2006 11:36

Hi everyone!! Quickie from work . Just been having a good lurk at ttc strams/due NOV 06, and feeling very nostalgic! LONDONER: you sound bright and chirpy! I'm with GO, can hardly keep my eyes open this morning! GG: realised we have same car as you (like 10 years later!); you can tell I'm a learner . It's pretty spacious, though hard to park I think!
CHACHA!!!You must join, it's fate!! You NEVER be hungry on SW,and I have to admit I've made loads of fab friends at the meeting s I go to
Right, better get some stuff done!!, hmmm, or maybe have an early lunch??

Diege · 26/06/2006 11:39

goldenoldie · 26/06/2006 14:35

ChaCha - I agree with Diege - join SW. I never went to any classes, but I got the books (e-bay)and stuck to it, and you will def. not be hungry. I like the bi-monthly mag too.

Diege - ttc? nostalgic? Are you in the market for another one then????

Londoner - yes, I am back in my old work clothes. Glad to say I met my target of being able to get back into pre-twins clothes by the time I went back to work.

Lovely cleaner comes in, so house not a bomb-site, thank goodness. Nothing more depressing than going back to a grubby/untidy/dishevelled home.

No stuck-on grin for nanny - I don't see her in the mornings - I start work before she does! Doubt she gets a smile out of DH when she arrives.............especially if he has just changed two smelly nappies!

Nova - do you ever come over N.Ldn way? Would be good to see you. Would be great to see any of my Nov. mumsnet pals. My 'virtual', post-natal group!

Anyone else North/central Ldn, or is it just me, JenJam and LilJ?

S'pose I better get some work done.............

Rodeo · 26/06/2006 15:01

Afternoon

Having a quick sneak on too! Ds is keeping J amused on the floor, he's copying her and finds him very funny Trying to keep her awake til after the school run as Bella's at her school disco so tea will be later than usual - oh being a SAHM is soooo exciting
Made us a very non-SW lunch earlier (there goes my semi-diet!) cheese and bacon pancakes, mmmmm.....they were lovely!
Chacha, yes I agree - Join!
Diege, 'nostalgic'?!! Is that what you're calling it? Full-on broody you sound to me Just out one of my bestfriends, who was expecting but MC'ed last year, is having a Christmas baby! She'd been keeping quiet til the 3 month mark So happy for her (and maybe a little 'nostalgic'!)
Right ds has disappeared into the garden so better go and save the lonely baby, bye!

Diege · 26/06/2006 15:45

Afternoon!! . Well just finishing off here, after my slow-to-get-started Monday . Yes, maybe a little broody, not helped by looking back during lunchbreak at the ttc stream I was on!! Noticed L&SMUM and CHACHA on there too!! Ahhhh.... Wonder how TWINKLE is getting on?
WEll, back to my disgustingly dirty house now . Have finally 'given in' and we are getting a cleaner. Feel a bit , as really don't like the idea of paying someone else to clear up after me, but hey, think it was the mould spots that finally broke me, lol!!
Lunch sounds yummy RODEO, and I'm a veggie!!
SW tonight...pleeeease let me have lost half a pound!!

ChaCha · 26/06/2006 16:47

Hi girls,

Thank you for all the motivation re: SW

I went on website and found my local class. Spoke to very nice woman who runs class on a Wednesday night. Also spoke about the online option which she said was great but am worried that by trying to diet online I'll lose motivation and give up! Am thinking perhaps the having to go out and get weighed, sit in class etc is the better option. Might pop along this Wednesday and see. Online offer is very good right now though...not sure what to do.

We have managed to get one leg over pillow barricade better go to the rescue x

GarfieldsGirl · 26/06/2006 17:48

Well, you can tell Wimbledon's started can't you!

ChaCha - SW meets sound good to me, go for it.

Diege - I was really surprised at how roomy it is, and the back seats slide, and come out and do loads of fancy things. Owen loves the boot, keeps climbing in there!

Rodeo - great news about your friend. I get very 'nostalgic' when I see a bump, and there's loads round this way at the mo.

Hi GO & Londoner and everybody else.

The boys are playing on the floor right now, Sean giggling away at Owen. Its so lovely

ChaCha · 26/06/2006 18:37

Hi GG, sounds like the LO's are happily entertaining each other. This one rolled under my arm this afternoon and went to sleep after slobbering me - it was lovely, really could eat him (could probably help with diet dilemma)

Went to read through last Nov thread as I wasn't sure of exact AF date, seems it was 19th May and nothing as of yet. This is a real bummer as I have been regular since AF's return and am hoping that it is not the return of my endometriosis. It is usual to have irregular cycles 7mth post baby? Just wish it would hurry up. Think DH will go loopy if i continue with these mood swings.

ChaCha · 26/06/2006 19:21

Oh God, it's me again, how shameful!

Nova - Went to copy and paste you a link but can't paste it for some reason There's a small post on last night's concert (was it last night even?) of TT. Stupidly read as Tumble Tots this morning. On the chat section.

Diege · 26/06/2006 21:04

CHACHA!!!Go to the meetings!!!! I've tried on-line, and I was kidding myself!! Hard to be 'good' when you don't have the support of RL buddies going through the same thing!!
Not that I've been esp. 'good' - just back from meeting and have put half a pound on . Am ahving my usual MOnday night indulgences, then BACK ON IT tommorrow!!!
Hmmm GG...do I detect a hint of broodiness too???
