Hi Golden!!!! Really good to hear from you . Sounds like you have a wonderful nanny there!! Wow, just what you want . Congrats on weight loss too; I've still got 8 pounds to lose before I get to 'target' ; am determined now though, as sick of 'muffin top', lol!!
Know what you mean about going to work for a break!! Coffees, lunches, chat, oh and you get paid for it too!! My day at hoem is the hardest one of all, and I start to dread bank hols .
Stay in touch!!

Hello everyone!

I've had my Mum over for the past two weeks (meaning no time for internet browsing!) which meant that I had a willing babysitter and Nate had constant attention for two weeks after our holiday. So now he's a bit fed up with just Mummy!

So update on Nate - he's almost crawling, he's got the right idea but can only go backwards so far, but he's trying his mightiest right now to go forward, so it's a matter of days I think. We've bought a playpen and stair gates so now he'll probably never crawl!

Still no teeth but definitely can feel two on their way. He's still great fun and gettting rather good at amusing himself for short periods of time, and (Thank God!) he sleeps through the night without fail these days. I still have no idea where the time goes as I seem to accomplish so little each day, but I do have a freezer full of various purees which he seems to go off on a regular basis - beginning to regret introducing yoghurt to his diet ...

I'm beginning to really look for a job, hoping to start in October when Nathaniel starts nursery. Beginning to think that being a new Mum does not help for job applications as not having great success getting even interviews for jobs that I'm more than qualified for, but I'm sure something will come along.

I'm also probably going to have to go over to the States in the not too distant future as my father's estate is a HUGE mess, even three years after his death and we're now looking at suing his old lawyer for malpractice - NOT what I need at this point in my life. I thought we were coming to the end of the estate problems, but it's now gone completely pear-shaped as the lovely tax people have rejected the estate's tax return. Arghhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Well got to run as someone is demanding to be played with.

J & N xx

Shit guys, I just had an email 'bounced' back to me by yahoo..i sent it monday night to the group to say I couldn't make the meet as I had got a last minute slot for a scan..I assume this means you didn't get it.

really sorry. I will go henceforth to see the pictures, it was a nice sunny day too so I bet you had a lovely time!

It's the same with my freecycle yahoo account, really annoying as I have advertised a load of clothes, our changing station, a wardrobe, and some slate tiles to give away that I know would be snapped up but I'm not getting any emails from them.argh!
has anyone had this 'bouncing' problem before? what do I do?

Diege · 21/06/2006 17:27

lol BOB,swear away oooh, last minute scan, not what I'm thinking is it??. When e-mails get returned to me, it's usually because the person I've sent to has a full in-box.
Well, off to babysit for a friend tonight, would you believe. Can't think of anything I'd less like to do after a hectic day with dds, lol!!, but would never dream of letting her down. Just hope the kids are used to Gina, or they'll think nanny Mcphee has arrived !!

Rodeo · 21/06/2006 17:34

Afternoon
Feel shattered, just got back from Joe's playgroup's day trip to Gulliver's Kingdom! Spent the day with Joe's best friend William and his scrummy fireman father! Phew! Don't tell dp
Lovely to hear update's from Lil & GO! Great nanny GO, love the 2 folders scenario, she does sound nice
And 2 posts from Jen in 2 days?! That must be a personal best Only joking, KWYM about losing the last 8 months - where have they gone? I remember fondly a time I used to get a bit of time to myself! Well done little Finny with your crawling too
Oh Diege - don't beat yourself up, her little letters look great to me Good luck with all the marking - my mum's got her report's to write - she hate's this time of year!
Nova, what back carrier did you get? I'm looking for one for when I go away in August, the Little Life one's are supposed to be great, but bit pricey for the amount of times we'll use it.
GG, Jess isn't keen on strangers either - well, not just strangers, she doen't like my dad too much, or dp's brothers, bit embarrassing really but she'll get over it!
Right better get tea on, I'm off to an Ann Summers party later - can you get big sticks to beat off amorous partners when all you want to do is sleep from them I wonder?

babyonboard · 21/06/2006 17:54

lol Diege..I guess I'm maintaining my reputation as a big flaker..

I feel truly shit though if you guys still expected to see me..argh..humph..grrrr

Hey All - thanks soo much for the positive vibes for my Mum - to say the meeting didn't go as well as had hoped. The nasty man showed his true colours though and didn't have one positive word to say Iw on't bore you all with the details or any of the background, but suffice to say the Union Rep said she was appalled by his behaviour, and that there was no way Mum was going to have another meeting with him ever. Anyway, am going to stop talking about him, cos think will pop a blood vessel! He is not worth my energy, he is not worth my energy......

Rodeo - ooh an Ann Summers Party - how cool!!! I have had such fun at the ones I have been to and hosted!!!!! (gosh I sound like a right tart!!! ) But they are just a scream aren't they!

GO good to hear from you - sounds like the dts are coming on really well, and the nanny sounds like a godsend!

Am going to go off and have a look at the yahoo piccies now, and get even more of those who have met!!!

Have a good evening -Diege, all those A Levels - don't envy you! Is that what you are in London for? An Examiners get together? (forgive me, am not entirely sure what it is you do)

Right off to look at pics now.

Brownie

Jen, GO & LilJ really good to see you all, your little ones sound like they are keeping you busy.

Bob is the scan for what we think then? Just tell me to get knotted if that's too nosey

Bit of a rough day with Thomas, as he cut his top two teeth during the night last night, great timing not, but at least he'll be able to eat more interesting things now!

Right off to make up Ikea takids table and cairs and some drawers for the playhouse, hope you're all well. Beks

Tex111 · 21/06/2006 22:05

Hi guys! Got back from Disney late Monday night. Still recovering. T was ill our last night there. Think it was just too much sun, excitement and a change in food & water. Almost back to normal today. Did meet a very dishy Frenchman who was the Disney doctor. Didn't speak a jot of English though so I had to speak French and I'm sure I told him that I was worried because Toby had a very high 'February'.

Londoner, good to see you!

Saw the Yahoo pics and looks like it was a good day. So sad to miss it but we were all tired and Tobes was still pretty ill yesterday. So nice to see the pics though. What lovely mums and babies!

Not had a chance to catch up but just wanted to check in. Hope you're all well.

GarfieldsGirl · 22/06/2006 06:49

Hello to everyone, good to see you LilJ and Golden. Big wave to Londoner - Welcome Back!

Just had a look on Yahoo. Nova - those pics are just gorgeous.

ChaCha · 22/06/2006 09:06

Good morning ladies,

My DH is back this afternoon and I'm really excited It's only been a week but feels like forever. Strange but I kind of got used to doing things on my own. There's certainly a lot less to do

GO, LilJ, JJ - Good to see you all post. GO, nanny sounds wonderful, very efficient and must put your mind at rest knowing that they are in such good hands.

Londoner - So glad you posted And you made the school run? Well done! How was dinner, you had some little people over didn't you? And how's the beautiful E? Tell the ants to have a nice day

Beks - Teeth!! How's Ben today?

Rodeo - I'm sure that I wanted to reply to one of your msg's but what happens is that I catch up on everyones news and then have to go so by the time I come back to reply I've forgotten most of what was said. How are things? How's nan? Everything okay?

Hi GG and Brownie.

My question on co-sleeping was that I have to go to bed when LO goes really as I can't leave him alone on bed. I no longer sleep in our bedroom but sleep on the futon in the computer room as it is much closer to the floor, bigger and I don't worry about him rolling off. Example, I wanted to go for a bath last night but grandad had fallen asleep and could not leave LO alone sleeping on bed so had to stay in room. Usually DH and I have turns at who does what and as a rule we try to have everything done by a certain time so we can both relax in that room while LO sleeps on. I'm not comfortable leaving him on bed even with monitors on. What do you do when you have to 'get on'. Usually not a problem when two of us home and LO is late sleeping anyway. Any suggestions?

REally sorry if this turned into long and boring post.

p.s. Nova will look at your pics asap x

tessasmum · 22/06/2006 11:24

ChaCha - Ash asleep on our bed at moment as DH working from home and cot is in office. He tends to drop off to sleep whilst feeding, as you saw on Tuesday, I lay him in middle of bed and pile one side with the duvet and the other with pillows. I am not sure if this will hold him now but he tends to wake up slowly and gurgle for a while so we know he's awake before he gets adventurous.
However he is No2 and I am a LOT slacker with him than I was with Tessa

Dash to pre-school beckons, will try and get photos up later

ChaCha · 22/06/2006 11:48

Thanks TM, I do make some sort of pillow/cover barracade at the open side of futon but still get paranoid about him rolling over and out. I guess it's just a result of the time he rolled out of other bed when I fell back to sleep. Have visions of him mountain climbing the pillows and bungee jumping onto the floor Hmmm..
Oh no! More photos I thought i'd gotten away lightly.

Beks - I got the email, pics are lovely, thanks for that.

BoB - I'm sorry that you were unable to make it and yes I was very much looking forward to meeting you both. Another time. Hope scan went ok.

Tex111 · 22/06/2006 11:52

Hi ChaCHa, we have bedguards for the children and they work quite well. Not sure how it would work with a futon though. Must admit, forgot to pack the travel bedguard for Disney and Rosie rolled off the bed one morning. I was devastated but she just looked a bit shocked. She didn't even cry until she saw my face.

goldenoldie · 22/06/2006 12:56

ChaCha - re: co-sleeping, sorry if this sounds completely stupid - but can you put sleeping LO in a cot? Then you can go and do chores knowing baby is safe?

I've never done co-sleeping, so I'm prob. not the best advice on this.

novadandypowder · 22/06/2006 13:22

Today I learned an important life lesson. You should never try to eat a bowl of chocolatey covered cereal whilst comforting a grumpy baby because the following things will happen:

  1. You will end up covered in said cereal
  2. Baby will end up covered in said cereal
  3. Your cream coloured rocking chair will end up covered in said cereal
  4. The floor will end up covered in said cereal
  5. The bowl will shatter into a million teeny tiny pieces.

Naddy is having a sleepy day today and had a lay in til 7.45!! I however was awake checking the monitor every 5 mins until she woke up. She now on her second nap of the day!

Chacha - we've left Noo noo on a futon by herself and she was fine. If you think about it, Z doesn't roll off when you're in there with him, so he shouldn't roll off if you're not. I understand your fear from last time, but it may be worth taking the plunge?

novadandypowder · 22/06/2006 13:25

sorry - no pun intended on plunge

ChaCha · 22/06/2006 15:19

Thanks girls. GO - It is a good idea to put him in cot when asleep but LO + Cot seem to = accidents & tears. It has been a while since I've tried the cot so perhaps I will give that a go again. He just doesn't settle in his cot, probably put him in and will wake 10 minutes later very grumpy that he's not in big bed and looking out through bars!

Nova - I love Noo Noo, that's so cute! In Arabic Noo Noo is one of the words for baby, I think it comes from the word 'sugharnan' which means teeny or small. LOL at plunge! Quite literally I think.

DH is in the airport now...whoopeeee!!!

Diege · 22/06/2006 16:18

Off tom London now for examiner's meeting, so catch up Sat .
Really looking forward to a good night sleeeep!!!!!!!!

Londoner · 22/06/2006 19:39

Hello,

I have missed you!

Karma, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. Much strength to you...
Brownie, hope things improve with your poor mum very soon....
GG, sorry to hear you are living with alcoholism, that is very very hard... all credit to you that you can talk about it and that you are a wonderful mum to 2 boys despite this situation. I expect you are dealing with so much emotional push and pull in your relationship on a regular basis, sorry if I'm way out of step but I wonder if you know about these guys.. they are good.
Also sorry to see that Beartime has left, hopefully she'll post her news from time to time.
Golden, your nanny sounds amazing, Mary Poppins indeed! A genius find!
BEKs, fantastic news on T's teeth, but he was sleeping so happily when I saw him last, what an angel he is!
ChaCha, how lovely to hear your excitement about seeing your dh again, sigh so romantic.
Hello everyone else too....
Well, Elizabeth made me laugh tonight, having refused to eat her (lovingly made) semi pureed vegetable/pasta meal she proceeded to shout at the other kids while they got on with their tea of tuna steak and saute potatoes..... until we started giving her 'donations' from their plates! She scoffed so much tuna and potatoes you wouldn't believe.... am still such a novice with child#4 like you wouldn't believe!
Right, bath is overflowing upstairs, haven't decided which child I'll stick in there yet now let me see...... ds2 looks a bit grubby, he he he.

BEKsmum · 22/06/2006 20:29

Hi girls

How great is this, its fab to see so many faces back on the thread, welcome back you guys, stick around won't you

Nova nice work with the cereal - you've just reminded mwe why I have toast now

Diege have a good trip to London, don't work too hard!

Tex poor Toby being unwell. Did he enjoy himself though? Ben is itching to hear all about it. Ooops poor Rosie too, sounds like she only cried to make you feel bad though

Had a strange day today, took Thomas to the drs to get his ear checked and was told it looks alright but get water in it and bring him back in a while? Any suggestions onwhat "in a while" is would be greatly received.
Got myself checked over too as I''ve had a headache since the start of the month and stomach pain since T was born and was told to take 8 paracetamols a day for 4 days to cure the headache and then she said sounds like you've got a hernia or an ulcer, so take these tablets but the paracetamol will make that feel worse - I feel so much better for going what do you guys think

Saw an old friend today and she is really funny as although she has a little boy a year older than Ben she is not interested in babies at all and it was hilarious watching Thomas trying to get her to pay attention to him - he was very ingenious using, cute, curious and frustrated in equal measure.

Right off to chug down some more tablets, hope you are all having a nice evening Beks

BEKsmum · 22/06/2006 20:30

sorry that should say DON'T get water in T's ear - might make more sense the first time though
