I feel a little bit bad about starting this thread just now as there have been heartbreaking stories on mumsnet over the past couple of days. Ladies our thoughts are with you.

This antenatal club is particularly special, as after a long difficult nine months for all of us we are now the lucky ones who get to hold our beautiful little babies. There are lots of challenges ahead for us, of course. but hopefully we can all continue to offer support , advice and friendship during the more happy times

Just come across this thread and it's a great example of how every cloud has a silver lining, and a testament to the perseverance and bravery of us mums!

After 5 years of trying, and 3 miscarriages and watching all our friends have their second and sometimes third children seemingly effortlessly, DH and I have finally managed to have our second child who was born in early February. We are feeling utterly blessed as a family and appreciate our LO all the better. It's great that he's finally here and we are all utterly in love with him.

I keep losing this thread!

How is everyone? (and where is MrsMc??)

baby monster is certainly making his presence known I am being thrust into attachment parenting reluctantly. Still he is only 4 weeks old so we will let him off for now

Bouncingturtle · 06/04/2008 11:54

Mutha2beagain - congrats amd glad you found the thread, yes it has been a bit quiet!
MumofMonsters - Hello!!! How are you? We're very well, my ds is 14 weeks old and driving me batty Not a good sleeper, so I'm constantly knackered, but just one of his smiles, and all is forgiven (check my profile).

I assume MrsMc is okay, think she hangs out on the Jan PN thread.

MerlinsBeard · 06/04/2008 17:22

bouncing...he is GORGEOUS 14 weeks? wow! where did that time go?!!
If i have managed it right baby monster should still be on my profile.

Am ok, good days and bad days at mo...he is a barnacle baby and i have ds2's 3rd birthday today, hopefully moving house week starting 14th which i haven;lt started packing for because of some stress with that, then ds1s 5th birthday on 25th...EEEK!!

petunia · 06/04/2008 19:52

Evening everyone,
It's been ages since I was last on here (was Christmas I think!) so hope you're all well and congratulations to those that have joined us recently.

Would you believe Emily's 2yrs old at the end of this month! Don't know where the time's gone! She's very active, loves playing with DDs 1 & 2 (and they spoil her rotten), and her favourite TV programme is In The Night Garden (we've got her a beanie Iggle Piggle for her birthday!)

I'm still b/feeding her -I fed DD2 until she was 2 yrs 4mths, so will probably do the same with Emily. I've also got her down for playgroup, starting in September, but having thought about the ages when DDs 1 &2 started there, I might change that to after Christmas and have her at home for another few months! She'll probably want to be out and about meeting other children by then!

Hope everyone and their little ones are well. Will try and post a bit more often and not leave it so long next time!

Bouncingturtle · 06/04/2008 22:07

Wow! How fab More successes.. always good to see!

lackaDAISYcal · 06/04/2008 22:51

what beeeeeyooooootiful boys, MOM and BT

no scan date fpr me yet [grr] but I'm seeing the MW on Tuesday for my "early weeks" appointment (at 10 weeks ). She said she was going to send off my paperwork after the easter weekend so if she hasn't I'll be very very cross. I need to know that all is well. MS sporadic at best, and although my belly is already looking a bit pregnant, I'm not convinced there's anyhitng in there!

well done on the Bfing still petunia, and hello again (I spoke to you when I first posted after my DD was born last June; I have an Emily too ). I'm winding the BFing down now though; pregnancy/biting/losing interest issues abound. Hopefully I'll be able to go on longer with this next one!

DD doing really well. she had great fun in the snow today, catching snowflakes on her tongue. she has just cut her top teeth, after a gruelling eight weeks of teething. She is cruising the furniture now, climbing stairs and generally getting into everything (I caught her head first in the cat litter tray yesterday ). I must upload some updated pics!

Bouncingturtle · 07/04/2008 06:56

Hi Daisy, glad to hear you are well... sending you some Healthy and Well vibes for your little bean

lackaDAISYcal · 08/04/2008 22:18

I had my early weeks appointment today. MW had a quick listen with the doppler and found the baby's heartbeat!!!

OMG I'm having another baby

told DS tonight that there is definately a baby in there (we'd told him it was a big IF to begin with so as not to dash his hopes). He is over the moon and praying for a brother

Bouncingturtle · 09/04/2008 05:51

Oh fabulous! I am so pleased for you

petunia · 09/04/2008 16:59

So pleased for you Daisy- excellent news!

lackaDAISYcal · 09/04/2008 20:58

blooming heck BT; you were up early!

ms has kicked in today with a vengeance, and like DD, it's hitting me in the evening. My tum is deciding whether to accept or reject my dinner and I feel like i have mammoth hangover

Bouncingturtle · 10/04/2008 05:24

Ds has decided that 5am is his new getting up time. To be honest I don't mid if I've had a reasonable night with him, night before was a bit rubbish, but last night he only woke once at 2.15 after we had gone to bed! A whole 4 hours after our bedtime! Keep it up lad!

Uki · 17/04/2008 12:28

Hi All

Daisy - hope the ms is a bit better, did you have it with both pg's before? How many weeks now?

Bouncing 5am eeek, i'm quite lucky with LL as he loves a lye in most of the time.

LL is 8 months as of yesterday, he is lovely and calm and just sighs at his big brother who is constantly taking everything off him.

Can't think of much to write -(that's honest isn't it? ) where is everyone?

lackaDAISYcal · 23/04/2008 23:24

just caught this on my watched threads.......phew it's soooo quiet around here!

Uki, I'm now 12 weeks . Had my scan on Monday and it was fab. I was soooo expecting nothing to be there (even though I'd heard the HB two weeks ago) and I'd had nasty abdominal pains over the weekend (turns out to be a nasty UTI).

I'm getting very excited about it now and DH and I are discussing names and buggies (gonna need a double!)

Let's get this thread moving again...I miss not talking to you guys every day

BouncingTurtle · 24/04/2008 20:22

Hey Daisy! How are you, glad your 12 week scan went well

Still gutted about Feedmenow, hope she is OK

lackaDAISYcal · 25/04/2008 14:29

Hi BT

feedmeknow has started a support thread for bereaved parents and I dip in now and again to see how she is. she is being so incredibly strong and brave throughout all of this. She's also got a memorial page for Eris on the justgiving website to raise money for SANDS.

We had a day ofit yesterday. woke up to DD screaming and she'd been violently sick all over her bed. After I wiped her down, she went very quiet and was floppy and unresponsive and i noticed she had a rash on her face and neck.. I didn't need a glass to tell me it didn't look good, and she was gasping for air so I called 999. when the paramedic arrived she tried to give her oxygen as her breathing wasn't good, but te tube blew off the cylinder and she came round a bit with a fright and started screaming (and didn't stop for tow hours!). anyway, transferred to hospital and they did lots of blood tests and put a canula in and started her on IV antibiotics. she slept for a while and woke up looking much better. WE got home at 9ish last nihgt, by which time she was crawling all over the place and trying to escape. We're still going in for a daily dose of ABs into her canula, and are waiting on the blood cultures coming back but they are pretty sure it isn't meningitis. Most likely explanantion is she's had a tummy bug for a couple of weeks and they think the forceful vommiting caused the blood blisters on her face and neck and the loss of fluids coupled with a bit of dehydration and perhaps breathing in some vomit caused her body to go into shock. It was such a scary thing, and I honestly thought I was losing her . I can honestly say I've never been so frightened in my life. she is a bit battered and bruised from the blood tests and she screams blue murder when the drugs are going into the canula, but other than that is perking up a bit. The ABs have sorted out the tummy bug as well and her nappies have been better today than they have done for the last two weeks. Anyway, we get the blood cultures back tomorrow, but they are hoping that they will be clear and that they can stop the ABs.

I'm still reeling from it all.

BouncingTurtle · 25/04/2008 17:17

Bloody hell, Daisy, what a day! So glad dd is okay now, but can understand why you were so frightened.
You did the right thing, responding so quickly, you can't take chances can you?

DS has had his 3rd set of jabs, apart from a slightly unsettled Wednesday night and being grumpy, he has been fine!

lackaDAISYcal · 25/04/2008 18:29

she has been chasing the cat all afternoon and beating my head like a drum so she is definately better. The ABs have killed off her tummy bug as well, so her poos are back to normal after over two weeks of diahorrea. It's good to see!

Wow, I can't believe the turtlett is four months already! how time flies. you'll be planning the next one then?

BouncingTurtle · 25/04/2008 21:08

Been thinking about it
Bit to be honest don't know how we can afford it, as we'll be practically paying for a second mortgage in nursery fees for ds when I go back to work!

lackaDAISYcal · 25/04/2008 21:35

same here if i have two in nursery.......so I'm not going back . at least not to my old job. If DH gets a job more locally, then i'll probably be leaving for work as he comes home, or working weekends. I'm in the planning stages of setting up a nappy business and want to do breastfeeding counsellor training, which I've been advised by my HV might lead to gainful employment. We shall see. We've got a bit of grace as DH is in the process of selling his old house and we're going to use some of that money to pay the mortgage for a bit....thank heavens we have that luxury otherwise we'd be compleely screwed!

I'm off to bed now...think I have a UTI and feeling decidedly ropey. Talk to you soon BT

petunia · 26/04/2008 20:08

Evening all.

Good grief Daisy, you had a right time of it didn't you. Your poor DD, that would have scared the what-nots out of me! Glad the pg is going well.

Well, Little Emily is 2 years old tomorrow! Where has the time gone? I've made her a cake with Iggle Piggle from In The Night Garden on it, and we're taking it to my Mum and Dads for tea and cake tomorrow. We're getting a few words out of her now; Nah (quite often that one!) =No, a dah= a dog, Iggar= Iggle Piggle. So with these, together with some "terrible two" type tantrums, she really does make her views known! I'll have to try and get some pictures of her up on my profile (if I can work out how to do it!)

Hope everyone else is well.

lackaDAISYcal · 28/04/2008 16:48

Happy Birthday Emily

My Emily got the all clear from the hospital yesterday, so it definately wasn't meningitis or any sort of blood borne disease. she is nearly back to full fettle, and is being very impudent and cheeky again, which is nice to see. the ABs they gave her at the hospital have chased away whatever stomach bug she had and her nappies are back to normal too.

'twas very scary though.

she got her first pair of cruising shoes in clarks today....they are so cute and girly...but wont stay that way as she loves crawling in the muddy garden!
