Happy u hav a lovely mil!! I wish we lived closer to family to help...woke up this morning really missing all of mine - but they are about a 15 hour trip away :-(

Is anyone else weaning yet?? Wld hav loved to do blw, but ds is already onto lunch and dinner and still finishing what he should be for formula - the paed we saw last week had to keep reminding herself that he's only 17 weeks, not 7 months Shock

Hello all, terrible night here but in the morning everything seems manageable again.

Sounds like quite a day happy - well done with the expressing and top drying Grin.

bugsy we're going to do BLW as I faffed around with purees for DD1 and can't be faffed don't think it's a valuable use of my time this time around. Molly's such a chunk my illogical logic tells me that she'll be fine. Holding off until 6 months, but will also dig out the highchair very soon so Molly can start 'taking part' in family dinners.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Wow Louise!! DS1 was just like that!

I know I should know this from ds1 but what are you guys starting them off on?

It's a good job the sun is out today!! DD woke at 4.15am and didn't settle til 5.45 ...... Ds1 woke up at 6am Hmm

we had a much better night last night. dd went to bed around 8, we skipped the dream feed and she woke at 1.30 then 5.30 then 7. yesterday I made sure she stuck to her 'routine' and had lots of naps so that might be the way forward.

sorry to hear others have had bad nights Brew

I really want to do blw because I am lazy but apparently it is harder with premature babies as their stomachs are ready for solids before they are able to feed themselves.

Ssshhh whispers really quietly it's barely audible and Birdies would have no chance of hearing 7.30-3.30 and 3.45-6.45ShockGrin. I know it's not up to the genius sleepers standards but its our record. prob never going to happen again until she's 16Wink

Louise - sorry your missing your family. wow on your little dyson Grin

Bugsy / Lolli I like the weaning made easy book by rana Conway, it gives a mix of both methods.

lolli gave him baby rice, then added apple & pear...now onto bannana...although this week I'll do some butternut and sweet potato - a new food every 3/4 days.

crap night...crap day so far thank goodness I still have chocolate hidden in my bedside table

Yay lost!! Hoping its that same for you tonight!

Thanks for the weaning info/books, I ought to know what to do from ds1 Shock

Had a lovely day in the sunshine, ds1 has played out in the garden all day, and DD has had been getting some air to her tush too Smile
I think I've washed everything we own just so I can hang it all out on the washing line! .... Curtains tomorrow Grin

Has anyone actually started weaning yet? X is so hungry in the night I'm starting to think she needs more - she doesn't wake just for attention as the little eyes stay shut. But she won't take a bottle....so can I just crack on with the spoon feeding do you think?

lolli I should also know better Grin

Birdies is she bottle fed?? Ds was taking 8oz bottles at all 4 feeds during the day - with hungry baby formula, and wanting more - thats when I started (well, had to give an extra 5oz bottle at 10pm until he was 17 weeks)...he was finishing all his bottles and a huge amount of food - but today gone off it all...I make sure he finishes bottle before any food. if X is finishing all bottles in the day, might be worth trying a little baby rice Grin

Ds has been a horrible feeder today- arching his back and crying during feeds - anyone know what could be causing this?

I got a bit of sunburn yesterday - feels fantastic Grin Grin

Louise, S has been fussing at feeds the past couple of days and its sometimes its a struggle to get her to drink her milk - very unusual behaviour for her! We spotted a bottom tooth breaking through this morning so perhaps it's related to that. She's not her usual content self and we've had to feed her at 3-4am due to her not drinking as much in the day. I'm blaming that tooth! DS had his first tooth at 4 months also. It's tough because she can't hold Sophie the giraffe to chew on, instead she likes to munch on my fingers Shock

We're all loving this sunshine. I'm avoiding weening for as long as possible - aiming for 6 months here! I think we got to 4.5 months before offering DS baby rice but I can't remember much!

Louise is he teething? Am sure Ivy was more unsettled when tooth really started coming through.

Birdies not properly weaning yet. She has had some tastes of my yoghurt (i gave her some as she was watching me so intently) and tried a little banana earlier. I don't think she is ready though as she just stuck her tongue right out. Milk generally seems to satisfy her so no worries.

Sorry not really helpful Hmm i would try X with first tastes and see what happens how many weeks is X now? Ivy is nearly 21 weeks but was early (not sure if that makes a difference)

Ooh meant to add. She seems to have discovered her tongue and keeps trying to 'catch' it with her fingers! Very cute :)

An almost completely sleepless night. How fun Hmm

How crap merignue, hope you can have a nap today.

louise I'm bf. I was going to try a bit of formula to top her up but she doesn't like bottles (in fairness, I haven't tried that hard though!).

apple thanks for the advice. X is 22 weeks on Thursday. I may try her with the odd thing but actually I can see her doing just the same as Ivy,just pushing her tongue out!

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine :)

Oh that's shit meringue. Hoping for a better day for you.

We're not going right through the night recently, Nancy has started doing a poo between 1 and 2am. It could be much worse though so I'm not too unimpressed. She has a nappy change and goes back down without a feed so still good nights really.

Report
Angielka · 27/05/2013 09:58

Sorry to hear it meringue. Hope you get a nap today.

I'm seriously Envy of Nancy creepy, Molly is still spending much of the night in our bed using me as a dummy, although things seem to be on the up and she has started rolling front to back and grabbing her feet, so all this brain activity that is stopping her switch off is at least having some impact!! She is going right back to sleep now when she wakes and sometimes her thumb is enough and she doesn't cry until she gets boob. Small steps, and we're still in the middle of this wonder week phase thing so I'm not panicking yet...

meringue feel for you, big hugs ThanksBrew

Lois is on the mend Grin meds are helping (just a frigging nightmare getting it down her) No progress on my one good night, back to every 3-4 hours but better than it was.

DD1 has cough and cold again now though Hmm so knowing my luck it will go full circle again.

Meringue33 · 27/05/2013 15:07

Thanks guys. I got four hours sleep: 10.30pm-12.30am while DP gave him his nightly bottle, and 6-8am when DP took him downstairs and rocked him to sleep. In between is just a blur!

It's almost comedic. Not surprisingly LO is a bit bleary today and keeps dozing off during feeds. And I've missed the nap window as was at supermarket! It's just as well he's cute. Grr.

So glad Lois is better, Lost. And at least the sun is shining and DP is here today cause of the Bank Holiday, even though he's studying upstairs. Hope everyone has had a lovely time.

I made the huge mistake of trying to put Molly back in her cot at 3am. Won't be trying that one again [yawn].

Up every 40mins to 1 hour here all night, and then up for good and shouting at 636am. Worst night since she was born. Have realised she's now feeding mostly in the night and having little snacks I'm the day. Bollocks.

And another mental night. Glad it's not just me. Slight improvement on last night but still terrible. Oh and with a giant three day poo arriving at 3am and necessitating a full change of clothes.
