Ok, here we go with the new thread - we got to exactly 1000! Hope everyone enjoyed this balmy day. I got Felix out loads in the buggy :)

Oh I remember the supply dip in the week before my periods from before. It always picked right up again after the first heavy flow days. I managed 14 months before it came back last time - here's hoping I get the same this time.

Meringue33 · 22/05/2013 18:19

So cannot be bothered with periods, esp since we're not planning to TTC for a few years at least!

CreepyCrawly · 22/05/2013 18:49

Oh, MIL has just had the 'big jib and cry' treatment.

Ah that sucks Meringue, hope it leaves you be soon!

Angielka · 22/05/2013 19:22

Apple how long is Ivy going between feeds then? I thought they didn't need anything other than breastmilk if EBF...

Good luck for the jabs creepy we missed our appt on Friday for them Blush so had to re-schedule for next week. Molly has become a bit clingy with me - she doesn't cry with others but keeps a beady eye on where I am. It's related to the developmental changes at this point (I've read) so if Nancy is getting that and not the sleep regression then you are one lucky lady Wink

Molly is fighting sleep like never before. We managed three naps today but each one was very short and I'm dreading tonight. Give me strength. It would be slightly better if I could stuff chocolate but my tummy's still not back to normal yet Sad.

AppleCrumples · 22/05/2013 21:00

Angie tbh thats why i mentioned it on here as nurse kept going on about it but i always thought the same as you that until they're on solids they don't need extra drinks (if ebf). She goes 3-4 hours mostly sometimes less in the day and sometimes as long as 8 hours at night. All the rest started on a sippy cup at this point but it's always been more about teaching them to use it at this point IYSWIM.

Whoever mentioned chocolate earlier i bought 1 too and it was lush Grin

Birdies · 22/05/2013 21:51

Nice one apples! Was it the cookie crunch one? I'm going to get another one tomorrow. Tempted to stock up actually Grin

I really thought periods were only when you stopped bf. I'd be mightily pissed off to get mine now, so poor you meringue

AppleCrumples · 22/05/2013 22:09

Yes it was...so yummy! Mmmm stocking up sounds good! Grin

Poor you meringue mine has usually come back after about 10 months bf. Would be mighty annoyed if the bugger showed up now! In fact as there will be no more babies it seems unfair to ever have 1 again!! Still this is a great excuse for chocolate :)

CreepyCrawly · 22/05/2013 22:23

I want chocolate now! I usually treat myself to a Kinder Maxi thingy at lunch time.

I've just come to bed! I put Nancy down at 9, and went and watched The Apprentice. It's the latest I've been up since goodness knows when, I always come to bed with Nancy.

Think she's got a bad eye, it's looking a bit gummy now and again. Luckily we're seeing the HV tomorrow.

Hoping for good sleeps all round!

Pascha · 22/05/2013 22:34

Oh dear I appear to have stuffed two dark chocolate Kitkats in my gob. How did that just happen?

happyhow · 22/05/2013 23:35

Sorry to all those who are poorly. We've managed to escape just with sniffles although hubby got it pretty bad with a sore throat and cough.

Got my exam papers yesterday and opened them all up today. 175 scripts to mark... Lots of chocolate and possibly a bit of wine coming my way in the next two weeks!

Poor meringue! I've really liked not having periods for the last year. Not particularly looking forward to them coming back either.

Saw The Great Gatsby this morning at Cinebabies. Very good.

Bailey is started to get a little interested in solids now. I keep putting spoons up his mouth to get him used to them but the reflex to push stuff outbid his mouth is still there so I think it would just very messy to start him at the mo. going to hold off a little longer. I've got a cup but I haven't used it with him yet as I also believed they didn't need other drinks if exclusively breast feeding. I'll maybe try and get him to hold it though.

Nearly 19 weeks here and no rolling here either. He's almost getting on his side but we're not quite there yet. He grasps at his toys now though and keeps a hold of them. He's kind of perfected that over the last week. Hmm

Meringue33 · 23/05/2013 00:07

I am blaming it on the nightly bottle, oh well, chalked up to experience.

Poor LO has this dreadful bug now, hoping he improves as awful listening to his breathing. How is Lois, Lost?

Gatsby looks brilliant. We only seem to get movies at baby cinema once they are finished showing elsewhere so won't be able to see it for a few weeks yet.

katolla · 23/05/2013 07:48

Came on to catch up on thread but now I just want chocolate.. Sorry everyone's sick! I think I picked something up from the swimming pool but at least dd didn't get it.

With the dream feed (which I heard of here, thank you!) do you change their nappies as well and if so how do you do it without waking them? I can't leave her 6pm nappy on till morning surely?

glorious · 23/05/2013 08:02

apples I always find kellymom helpful on breastfeeding. Here's the page on water kellymom.com/nutrition/starting-solids/baby-water/.

creepy I also stayed up for the first time last night. It was DH's birthday so once Ellen was asleep we left my mum with her and went to the local for a quick drink. It was strange but in a good way. I then couldn't sleep and as I was finally drifting off Ellen did an epic poo. Went to change it and she weed everywhere. Changed clothes, another new nappy, pooed again. Halfway through changing that there was more poo. Finally got her in a nappy about half an hour after starting!

Need chocolate now too . I'll have to settle for the sachertorte I made as a birthday cake Grin

Birdies · 23/05/2013 08:12

Everything I said about sleep improving.....I take it all back

Birdies · 23/05/2013 08:14

I need more chocolate

Hope everyone else had a better night. Actually partly it was my fault. I was up reading a book on helping babies sleep Confused. Apparently they do sleep better and longer if we get them to bed earlier - do people find that's true?

Angielka · 23/05/2013 08:24

Apple sorry if this sounds ageist and presumptuous but is your nurse from an older generation? It's just it sounds like something my MIL would say ('She needs some water, look how dry her mouth looks') Wink

meringue mine came back at 3 months Shock and I am ebf. I was so surprised I checked that it was normal. He said it can happen Sad. Withb DD1 I was period free for a year while bf-ing.

katolla we actually do leave the evening nappy on until morning (although recently that has been 7/8 rather than 6. Still, no leaks yet and the others seem to be doing the double nappy trick Wink

Angielka · 23/05/2013 08:29

birdies sorry to hear that Sad. We had a slightly better night but only because we co-slept and every time she stirred I shoved a boob in her mouth. Two things I never did before, even when she was newborn - co-sleeping and feeding to sleep. We're in survival mode until this wonder week regression hell calms down, then I'll worry about bad habits...

We try putting her down around 7 but invariably she treats it as a nap and has a couple more hours of awake time before settling down for the night.

lollipoppi · 23/05/2013 08:44

Mnnnnn all this chocolate talk has made me have Nutella on toast for breakfast, I blame you lot!

Dd was a grump after her jabs yesterday!

Katolla I don't change dds nappy at the dream feed

CreepyCrawly · 23/05/2013 08:51

Typical glorious isn't it?! Glad you had a good night though. I dreamt that I'd gone to town and left her at home alone while she slept, had to do everything real quick incase she woke up Hmm

katolla, I don't do a dream feed but the last nappy change is usually between 7 and 8, whenever she's done a poo. That's it until morning then.

Nancy is the same angie, everything is a nap up until 9. 9 is definitely bed time.

BuntyCollocks · 23/05/2013 09:32

I don't want to disturb anyone, and it may be because she's unwell (although she seems fine in herself) ...

But I think at 20 weeks we have hit another growth spurt :(

She is clingy, feeding all the time, crying for no reason ... And this is a usually happy baby!

To top it off I still have the cold from hell. I feel like shit.

Louise85 · 23/05/2013 09:40

Katolla when I did do dream feed, I didn't change nappy....I do the double nappy trick and he's fine until morning.

Someone mentioned the earlier they go to bed the longer they sleep...this theory works for mine...if dd (3) goes to sleep at 6:30 she sleeps till after 7, if she goes to bed at 7:30/8 she wakes up at 6 Confused

ds seems to be over the worst of his cough...he's loving his baby rice & apple - and he's sleeping so much better - usually 6:30 till 7...am enjoying not doing the dream feed as well...was doing it, but someone mentioned they just stopped it, so I did one night and he still woke the same time Hmm

shared one of the HUGE slabs of that cookie crunch with dh - it is too divine he's away for 3 nights so I can have it all to myself now

AppleCrumples · 23/05/2013 11:15

Thanks for link glorious. Angie you are right she is older generation. Really i should ignore this stuff have done same things with my older dc and they are all fine! She was really pushing the bottle of water tho as she won't be getting much from sippy cup but then i didn't expect he to take much from cup..arrrggh i should know what i'm doing by now!!!

Birdies i have found everyone sleeps better the earlier they go up. Ivy woke up yelling at 11 last night and had to be fed twicw before she would settle again thouggt i might be in for long night then she slept 11.30-5.45. My longest sleep yet! :)

Meringue33 · 23/05/2013 13:15

Glad you mentioned it Angie and Bunty. I thought I must be doing something wrong. LO has overnight turned into Velcro baby and sleep is destroyed. He slept about six hours in 24 yesterday and decided at night he would only sleep on me or next to me with boob attached. I am still reeling from it :(

He is 19 weeks plus has the same horrible cold I do. Postman: "Oh do you have the really bad cold going round, the one that takes about three weeks to clear." Hmm

BuntyCollocks · 23/05/2013 13:23

meringue THREE WEEKS?!?!

It can fuck off with that. It's my birthday/holiday next weekend!
