birdies dd wakes up and starts screaming in about five seconds flat!

she normally falls back asleep after a short feed at night so maybe that's why she wakes again not long after.

no plans here to move dd into her own room anytime soon. I think SIDS guidance is to keep them with you until six months and I am too soft to move her. at some point she will outgrow the crib, then she will have to go because the cotbed won't fit in our room. good job she is quite small for her age.

Bit sensitive birdies but ok I think. I had chocolate tiffin to get over it Grin Good luck with the cot. We never swaddled so can't help there I'm afraid but we do love our sleeping bags, couldn't do without them.

Thanks everyone. I'm going to attempt to leave her longer. And put her in her own room soon, eek. As I do think I must wake her. I think the only problem is me to be honest!!

I still have a swaddle issue though - she wakes herself when her arms are free but I'm worried my home made swaddle isn't safe. So now back to Houdini in the night. Has anyone found the transition out of swaddle hard and what did you do to fix it?

I'm sure I've asked all these questions before as well - I think sleep deprivation wipes the memory a bit!!

glorious the poor little thing, is she ok now?

Thanks for the tip on sainsburys apples . Ellen's not even 4 months until Friday Hmm I'd better get shopping.

Who's going to start the new thread then? I'm no good at titles. But happy to do a stats list if anyone wants one.

Glorious my litle chubster seems to be filling out the 3-6month stuff so am starting to buy 6-9 in some things. Depends where you go though as sainsbury stuff seems bigger but she can"t get into some of the tesco stuff! She needs weighing tho as its been a while!

Creepy Ivy looked huge in crib but quite dinky in her.cot! We even gave upon carry cot last week as i.just coukdn't keep squeezing her in!

Re noise in night i ignore til i HAVE to deal with her (or she stops). Ivy will be in our room for a while as nit sure where to put her. She wilk have to go in with dd1 eventually i think

Still in the non sleeping camp here. Brew to all my companions.

birdies it's no to everything here! I don't rush to pick up though and sometimes she quietens down but I don't wait for crying, just persistent noise iyswim. She does cry if left longer.

Third set of vaccinations here and she really cried and cried with tears just rolling down her little cheeks Sad Also did a weigh in and she's over 7kg so between 75th and 91st centiles. Similar for length. No wonder 3-6 months is getting too small the little chub!

Birdies I used to get Nancy up as soon as she made the tiniest noise, then I realised she was actually still fast asleep. If she makes a noise now, I just leave her and she stays/goes back to sleep.

She's not in her own room yet, we don't even have a room for her yet. Bloody loft conversion is taking ages. She's going to be going in her cot on the next few days though, she looks enormous in her crib.

Birdies, we have LO I his own room (has been since 16 weeks, now 20) he handle it really well and our bed is so old that the tiniest movements make so much noise that it was best for us, I made the transition by putting him in there for daytime naps and the evening sleep before dream feed, so he was used to it for all night! Worked well!

He normally wakes a little crying but is still asleep and I was getting up instantly to go to him but I just popped his dummy back in and goes straight back into a good sleep but the other day (DH was meant to be getting up and was magically sleeping through the noise as they do, another story) but I didn't get up either as wanted to teach DH a lesson but the LO obviously went back to sleep on his own with no dummy, always the way! So the last few nights have left him, sometimes he settles sometimes I go in! A little unhelpful I know!

Dream feed we tried to keep him asleep but wasn't always possible and he always only had a small feed but did sleep through so have cut it out now!

To stop him waking out of "habit" for food (we offered cooled boiled water) but that's only because we are formula so knew exactly how much he was getting during the day.....a lot harder to judge with breast feeding?? Hopefully someone will be along with better advice!

Hi Birdies:

(1) Yes. He often makes mad noises but stays asleep. In fact sometimes he even cries in his sleep for a few minutes (eyes closed) then goes back to snoring.

(2) No. Keep saying I'm going to put him in but then keep chickening out.

(3) He doesn't even stay awake for his daytime feeds let alone his night time ones :) Tickling feet etc does not work. Usually in the day I just let him feed and nap at same time even if that means he takes 45 mins to feed. At night if there is a long pause in sucking I just delatch him so I can go back to sleep.

pascha that sounds awful, glad you found him ok.

A question for everyone - X doesn't actually wake and cry in the night, she just makes noises until I pick her up and feed her. Do you wait for your babies to cry before feeding them? I'm thinking I go to her too quickly and dont give her a chance to settle again, but when you're so tired and zombiefied it's hard not to isn't it???

Second question! Is anyone's baby in their own room yet?

3rd one! Do you get baby properly awake for their night feeds? I used to but now I just feed her whilst she stays asleep - but is prob why she wakes again an hour later still hungry....

we have had a couple of slightly better nights, last night was 8 till 1, then 3.30, 5.30, 7. not great, but better than recently. however dd has been really grumpy in the days and has had some major screaming fits, arching her back, even during feeds, so i think she might be teething. she is also dribbling and hand chewing, and calpol seems to help.

sorry about all of the bad nights.

Sorry to hear there's still bad nights Flowers

lolli We can sit together in the good nights corner!

Pretty sure Nancy is going to start thinking her name is 'let go'! She's so grabby, she's just spent 10 minutes waving a breast pad around. She's done a couple of rolls too and she's hating tummy time less and less now.

Happy I've read that too. Luckily DD sleeps through (please don't kick me off the thread Smile) it's more for her to gain a little more weight.

She has just had a 3oz bottle so I used the rest of the milk to make her porridge she had a few spoons full, not bad for her first attempt!

happyhow · 28/05/2013 11:03

I've read that putting them on solids doesn't automatically help with sleeping. I didn't do it when we were having the bad nights and we've come through the other side. I'll be putting him on them soon though as he's taking an interest when we're eating.

We've set the travel cot up in our room for B to sleep in for a few nights so that he can get used to having more room before he's put up into his own bedroom and cotbed. Seemed to work quite well last night.

B's still not quite rolling but he has rediscovered raspberries. He's been having great fun the last two days doing them constantly. Don't think rolling is far off though.

We had a BBQ on Sat AND Sun!!! This is a miracle for Aberdeen... Was raining and cold yesterday though but sunny and warm again today so another BBQ for tea. Smile

Lost DD is 18 weeks, but I've decide to do it early as she isn't really taking much milk, yesterday she only had 20oz, 15oz the day before, this has been going on for weeks, I spoke to my HV as she has dropped a percentile and she suggested adding some foods and it should also help with her reflux

Pascha, ds1 also sneaks into my bed in the early hours!

I got the one that sleeps last time, Lost, D is fate's revenge I think. We seem to be stalled in a 3 hour sleep/wake pattern, not as bad as you though Birdies poor you.

DS1 has taken to climbing into bed with us for the last 3 or 4 mornings, usually about 5.30-5.45 Hmm. Not sure now whether we ought to put a gate on his door, get him a gro-clock (don't know if he will understand it) or what else really. He crept in and DH found him asleep next to him this morning so its not as if we are hearing him before he gets there Confused

Had a lovely day yesterday in Hastings, lots of fun down on the seafront but I did have my first heartstopping moment where I lost sight of DS1, he was in a fenced off playground and there were a lot of other littleys there, he was just so fast he disappeared amongst the crowd and his hat fell off which is what I was looking for as its bright green. Found him moments later but I felt very very sick. Might put him back in backpack and reins for London in July and August...

Also I suncreamed up the children and forgot my own face so I'm bright red across the nose and cheeks this morning Blush
