Lily I took 7 sterilised bottles and enough cartons of milk for ease

StuntNun · 12/04/2013 20:22

Lily I'm spectacularly clueless about ff but I'm sure you can get pre-sterilised bottle thingies for travelling. I remember seeing them in Tesco and thinking it was a good idea.

Lily Detective started a thread in the feeding section which has some good tips about travelling. It's called The Formula Feeders Faff Free Fred.

hi quichesses and quichester. I missed a whole day.... I'm glad I didnt know about secondary drowning 2 nights agoShock .

lo has absolutely cracked up tonight at me shouting for my phone just before I fed him on the bed. dh wanted to film it so I had to keep shouting for my phone. god knows why it was so funny but we got the most belly laughs ever! then I realised my boob was hanging out Blush .

went to local posh village to see a mattise exhibition which lo loved. I saw that one of my uni art tutors had some pics there and had shamelessly copied the amazing work of a guy who studied at the same time as me. who I've since Googled and am pleased to find is amazing still. and miles better than the tutor. then attempted to feed in cafe - teething + the most distracted baby in the world = very sore nipples.

yesterday I actually had to feed at my friends house in her spare room with the lights off and the blind down on the bed he was so distracted. ffs, we just got this shiny new tongue which allows us to feed anywhere and I still can't!!

I am falling in love with him more each day.

was very tempted to raid savings for a mattise print for lo though the guy who does tiny people had 4 'riots in a jar' s for sale which were tempting. about the price of a bugaboo.

TheDetective · 12/04/2013 20:30

You might be able to if there is a microwave, or you take sterilising tablets for cold water. However you are relying on being able to wash them.

I'd take the sterilised bottles. Or, if you haven't got a fuss pot like mine, you can get these pre-sterilised bottles. There are also the options of the cartons, and you can buy something called a chillipeep teat to go on?

Chillipeeps. Read the reviews at the bottom, someone talks about travelling with them on a plane etc.

TheDetective · 12/04/2013 20:33

I took 3 made - up bottles, and 3 sterilised one's in the case. But then we go through 5-6 feeds in 24 hours, and have 6 bottles, so wasn't so much of a problem? I did fret anyway though!

Lily311 · 12/04/2013 20:34

Re secondary drowning, I am so glad I renewed my first aid 3 weeks before giving birth. I have done 7 first aid courses in the past 10 years, I was the first aider at work (and all I had to do was to give one plaster away). Thanks fuck for that.

ChasingDaisy · 12/04/2013 20:34

Detective I was always convinced my children would be blonde - all babies in my family are, but then I buggered that when I decided to procreate with a Chinese man. Maybe that's why I feel a special affinity with O1!

PurplePidjin · 12/04/2013 20:39

Big bow,. Kettle of boiling water. Bottles in bowl, pour over water, leave for 5+ minutes. Or, saucepan of water and bring to the boil. Make sure the water covers all the equipment, no air bubbles.

I do R's dummies in a mug this way, and the pump at sparrow fart on the odd occasion he sleeps! I assume it would work for bottles.

Or, buy the premade ones? Will attempt to link to what i mean, long day has fried my brain...

Lily311 · 12/04/2013 20:39

I love the chillipeeps. But if I can't wash it, i can't sterilise it. O would never take the tommee tippee bottles, she uses mam ones and the teat is completely different. I am still debating as I only have 3 bottles and would need to buy an extra 4 which I wouldn't use after. Will browse on amazon.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 12/04/2013 20:41

I climb into my beautifully made bed. All tidy and white and smooth. My foot touches something. I reach down to pull it out.

A soggy muslin square. Hmm

Lily311 · 12/04/2013 20:41

purple i am not sure I will have the chance to boil water or wash bottles.

Passmethecrisps · 12/04/2013 20:43

Haaaallloooo.

What a busy day for the crisp ladies! Baby sensory this morning. P showed off her rolling skills again and giggled her way through my rendition of the 'say hello' song.

Then we were off to deepest Fife to have lunch with a colleague and her children. P did really well considering the amount of attention she was getting.

By the time we got home it was pretty much bath time. P did do her second ever nappy busting poonami though!

P I now tucked up in bed with one arm hanging out her swaddle. Fingers crossed that she stays as peaceful as she currently is.

In other news. I love kitties. Love them. But there is a bloody kitty wailing and wailing and wailing outside. It is doing my head in.

Passmethecrisps · 12/04/2013 20:46

Bleaurgh sophia!

Clarella · 12/04/2013 20:49

well done mini detective!

mm really hope lo gets some sleep soon!!

vq sorry lo still bad. I'm trying to find on thread if you're any further forward but you're all such a chatty lot I can't see...

evil I was so sorry to read about your friend - how is she doing?.

I demand sleepy dust as dh off out Envy and it's just me and I'm predicting about 6 wake ups through the night. Angry Angry

off for shut eye now while lo asleep...

Passmethecrisps · 12/04/2013 20:53

Oh aye! Meant to say VQ I am inclined to think you should just move straight on to the new formula. I don't think there is anything to be gained by keeping him on something which is causing him such discomfort

Passmethecrisps · 12/04/2013 20:55

AND! When J is 6 months he must move on to nutramigen 2.

PurplePidjin · 12/04/2013 20:57

Lily i can send you two of these in green if that would help?

TheDetective · 12/04/2013 21:01

Lily the mam ones sterilise themselves in microwave don't they?

Sophia Ditto! Except it was last night. And a baby wipe.

DP made the bed yesterday.......

MaMaPo · 12/04/2013 21:07

Operation 'Make little C take the bottle so mum can go to the theatre tomorrow night' is underway - we are sneakily offering a dream feed at this ridiculously early hour as she's been tending to wake and grizzle.

I'm awaiting my husband who's in the bedroom...

MaMaPo · 12/04/2013 21:08

Verdict: 5oz without even blinking. I'm going out tomorrow night!!!

Passmethecrisps · 12/04/2013 21:10

Woohoo mama

FatimaLovesBread · 12/04/2013 21:20

Lily Thanks for the FB photos of the buggy bag, i'll be buying one for the BJCM, where did you get it from? amazon? We're also looking at travel cots for when we go camping. I'm probably watching the same ones on ebay. Looking at the samsonite bubble which I think has now been re-branded to Koodi. We have a Mamas and Papas factory outlet near us and they had some in there last time we went. Supposed to be going again this weekend so I'll see how much they are.
I've also been watching some NCessity (?) pop up ones as they come with matresses too but they're more expensive

Took M for her jabs this morning, as DH is jobless he could come too and witness the pain. She wasn't happy, bless her. She's been sleepy the rest of the day and very warm, think it might be her teeth as well again.

DH has gone out to his cricket club for an hour or two, M is fast asleep in her cot and i'm MNing and eating chocolate Grin

Also got M weighed today, 14lb 10oz so just below the 50th line now

ValiumQueen · 12/04/2013 21:23

pass I think you are right, however I chickened out tonight and gave him the LF. I will give the stinky stuff first thing when he is hungry. I did not want to fuck up bedtime. The Gaviscon is really helping. Tonight was the best night time ever. In fact he did not feed from me at all which is great, but then I got all upset thinking I had been replaced by an antacid. I have read about the change at 6 months, but thank you for mentioning it.

clarella getting there slowly.

chasing thank you for asking. Been pretty low today, questioning myself, worrying about the new formula etc. my mum took the girls as J was taking all my time, and I got all upset that they have had another crappy holiday doing nothing special at all, and I feel that my 2yo is growing up and I am missing it. I will get there, but there have been lots of tears today. In this house happy baby = happy mummy.

Travel cots? I used a fabric under bed store for DD2. From Ikea, unzipped obviously. You can then use it for the purpose it was designed for.
