It is, sfx. You shall know us by our pale complexions (we never see the sun) and the way we startle like frightened gazelles at loud noises and bright lights (we don't have electricity either). Grin

Giddy, please do come along!

katzg · 19/05/2006 18:13

we all talk funny up north too!

dd2 is having a party, a duck party, have found some plates, tableclothes and cups, and i'm going to make a duck cake! her fav book is 5 little ducks and her fav toys are the ducks in the bath

dh will be happy to see so many northerners,as i have mentioned he insists on teaching me how to pronounce words properly. perhaps a lost case but dd must be exposed to correct influences from an early age. none of this southern 'bath' nonsense.

i hope to see as many of you as possible.

katz that is a great idea for a cake, i am not that good at decorating cakes, still i hope to manage to make it into a 1 shape.

am back at work on 29thSadand excited at same time, must buy new bag, shoes and stationaryGrin
dd birthday is on friday 2nd, think we will take her out for lunch and have a party on saturday for family and friends.
can't quite believe it really one year!

katzg · 19/05/2006 19:41

i'm ok at thecake thing i made \link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=1700&threadid=144155&stamp=060214125948\this} for dd1 fairy birthday in october

My god Katz, you are wasted on academia, that is incredible!

I on the other hand have never made a cake since I was a teenager and have no intention of starting now, not least cos dh is wheat intolerant and wheat-free cakes are disgusting. (Except M&S do a very nice choc and orange one). For our wedding cake we had ice cream. (Not an ice cream cake, just ice cream).

sfx, we do have baths up north (tin ones in front of the fire, no showers here) but we know how to say the word correctly Grin Perhaps the northern Junies should done their clogs and shawls for this occasion, make sure we stand out at London zoo!

sfxmum · 19/05/2006 20:33

what an amazing cake! right impressed i am

i love baking, but try not to do it much since i like eating it too (oatmeal and raisin cookies...triple choc cookies ...lemon drizle cake...coffee and walnut cake....brownies...drool drool drool)
absolute rubbish at the artistic stuff

dd getting very toddlery now, endless delaying of sleep, little tumtrums as i remove an assortment of dangerous playthings. must get her to some sort of play group she is really into other kids now.

lua · 20/05/2006 13:08

Nice cake Katz! I trie something similar for D's third, but have to say didn't come out as nice...
I think I'm going with "sheep cake" suggestion for DS... is DD's suggestion! Just use whipcream on top, she says! Grin

Sfx, if you like tantrums.. I'll be happy to send you my dd for a few weeks! Boy am I happy I got a ds second time around! Never thought I would say that.. as you can all research on the pre natal threads... But so far, my "happy go lucky" steryotype boy is much easier than my "moody blues" steryotype girl... Ask me again in 5 yeras, though!

Giddy, you have to come! It will be fun!

Sfx, I know you are dreading going back to work. But I think once you get rolling you will enjoy it! Have fun with the shopping getting prepared!

Trib, I'm not sure I can fake this northern thing... But am intrigues about the origin of clogs and shawls... would you enlighten me?

tribpot · 20/05/2006 15:21

lua, hope \link{http://www.pseudodictionary.com/word.php?id=19773\this} may help - clogs and shawls were the standard outfit for working class northerners back in ye olden times, hence why every Catherine Cookson / Barbara Taylor Bradford heroine has to do her time in clogs before becoming impossibly wealthy and getting to wear normal clothes.

2Happy · 20/05/2006 15:26

Hi everyone. Not posted for a while, but been lurking. London meet up looks good, but it's the weekend after my dsis's wedding in Kent so I can't really make the trek two weekends in a row (it is a long way for me!). Hope it's fun, and the sun shines.
Anyway, just popped in to say.... I've joined Amyjade's club! I'm pg! ShockGrin Not entirely sure how (well, asides from the obvious), but have only had one af since ds was born. No idea how far on I am, but probably 6 or 7 weeks. Turns out I didn't have to persuade dh it was a good after all, lol!

tribpot · 20/05/2006 15:32

Yay 2Happy, good for you! Congratulations.

2Happy · 20/05/2006 15:55

Thanks, Trib Smile

Skyler · 20/05/2006 22:33

Hi all. I am lurking-ish. Hope you are all OK. Exciting day in the Skyler household today as dd2 has taken her first steps. Just one to begin with and then two and then six! I had forgotten how cute it is when they learn to walk. She has just managed it before her 11 month anniversary lol Grin
Lua - I am with you on the question of whether dd2 will miss a party but then I look back on the photos and video footage I took of dd1's b'day and know it can't go by unannounced, bless her.
Katz - That cake is amazing. I don't know where you find the time or energy, and keeping up with memory books etc. I think that perhaps I should look at the dd's baby books again soon Blush. I have been making some notes honest......
Congratulations to you 2happy!
I am still umming and ahhing about a number three. I am fairly convinced that two is fabulus for us but I cannot bring myself to give up the maternity and baby clothes etc quite yet. My sis and one of my very good friends are due at the end of the month so that is exciting and perhaps I will get my baby fill from them....or it will make me really broody.
Anyway off to bed now. Night all x

Skyler · 20/05/2006 22:34

I mean fabulous of course Blush

Bubbaloo · 21/05/2006 07:24

Huge congrats 2HappyGrin.

Bubbaloo · 21/05/2006 07:27

And of course,congrats to dd2,Skyler!!

We have only had "sofa cruising" for the past wek or two so think we're still a little way off the walking yet.Just aswell really as ds is so speedy with his crawling, that I can't leave him for a second...unless he's in his highchairWink.

giddy1 · 21/05/2006 16:03

Hi everyone, just a flying visit
Can someone kindly advise on the most suitable travel arrangements (by train) to London Zoo.
Is there a station quite near etc.
Is it best to book in advance
Is it best to get some sort of travel pass or just turn up at train station and pay.
I have only been on a train to London once!!!!
I have to find this all out especially if travelling with DD1 because of her disabilitiy.
Sorry I am running off again
hope you are all well
xxx

tribpot · 21/05/2006 20:00

Giddy, are you coming in from Oxford? If you can let me know your starting station I can figure it out for you, although not sure I would attempt to get from Paddington to the zoo on the underground, with dd1 and dd2, would a taxi be feasible? (Would cost about 10-15 quid I think, Londoners can advise).

Btw, is my ds the last one with no teeth? Still no sign of a single one!

lummox · 21/05/2006 20:06

Hi all,

Checking in to see how folk are. Our house starting to resemble fort knox at the moment in a bid to stop ds from getting the various things that he feels he simply must have.

We've also had our first finding random objects in the washing machine moment. I should have realised that there were too few fridge magnets on the fridge.

Hope everyone else is OK.

All well here, although I am a bit pregnant, which is something of a (happy) surprise.

Bubbaloo · 21/05/2006 20:39

Congrats Lummox-it seems to be catching, lately.Who's going to be number 4?Grin.

tribpot · 21/05/2006 20:41

Et tu lummox! Congratulations! I want to be in the same antenatal club as everyone else again this time. I was talking to dh about this tonight (not your pregnancy, pregnancy in general) - still can't decide whether to wait a while longer or just get cracking as it were, apparently the entitlement to paid maternity leave goes up to 9 months in April of next year...

sfxmum · 21/05/2006 20:55

broody broody broody meGrin

2happy & lummox - congratulations ladies! i seem to remember someone was due again this june so that makes 4.
our plan is to start trying sometime around september or october, if we can find the energy that is. oh so broody!
busy day today quite tired. night night.

giddy1 · 21/05/2006 20:58

excellent news Lummox.
pah, youre all mad!!!!!!!!!!

Trib we are equal distance to either Aylesbury, Milton Keynes or oxford. Thats one of the reasons I got confused.
How far is the Zoo away from the underground ? Do you know?
Taxi is o.k but with a return that bumps the price of the day up by quite a lot doesn't it.
DD1 has a disabled badge but don't know if there are parking bays at the Zoo or if the traffic is too mad to consider that idea.

lua · 21/05/2006 20:59

Goodness mine! Congratulations to Amyjade, 2happy and lummox! You guys are brave Smile!

by the way 2happy, I was reading your exciting thread about testing yestertday and was rofl!

Unlike Skyler, I am quite happily giving away all my preganancy and baby clothes. Might even have a cot to give away by the time the new bubs come a-popping... Any of the you preganat ladys need a smashing black trench coat, or a mothercare pJs?

katzg · 21/05/2006 21:04

congrats to the preggy junies! did any of you follow the OMG preggie thread? one of my RL mumsnetter friends thought that was me!! ahhhhhhh but then she knows how dd1's and 2 came into existance!

well end of breastfeeding here soon, half term next week so dh is off work and can take the fall out if any occurs, its kinda sad but i fed dd1 one for this long so, the times there are a changing.

Looking fowar to london zoo must book the train tickets whilst some cheap one are still available.
