hi

lovely warm day here been out for most of the day.
are the 22nd junies having their parties today?
so how is it going trib? family not stealing sanity? hope it all goes well.

dd seems to want to walk taking every opportunity to grab our hand and take some steps, she is also letting go a lot more while standing its very funny definitely toddler like now
enjoy weekend

teabelly · 25/06/2006 08:36

SFX my dd is exactly the same - I keep thinking that's it, this time she'll take her first hands free steps - but she's not quite brave enough atm - maybe tomorrow!

Going out for a belated father's day lunch today - as last weekend was so busy with ds/mil birthdays and parties. But am not sure I'll be able to eat very much - went strawberry picking yesterday and gorged myself so much I still feel sick! DD and DS still very pink looking - not sure how long it will take for ground in strawberry juice to come off! And boy am I not looking forward to today's nappies!!!

katzg · 25/06/2006 08:47

Yummy strawberries - we never have them in our house DD1 is allergic to them and they make her all blotchy and sore.

Morning ladies! Yes, sfx, it was ds' party on Saturday. We survived unscathed, although I was knackered and none too happy when ds went for a 4:55 start on Sunday morning

2Happy, sorry about your scare. Glad everything's okay though.

I was temporarily the mother of a 3-year-old on Saturday; MrsW needed to go home but ds1 was none-too-keen on the idea, so I offered to look after him so he could stay and play with the other boys (Power Rangers, apparently). My god, it was terrifying! I had half the people at the party keeping an eye on him but even so I was worried the entire time (the side of the house is open to the front, thought MrsW would probably not be impressed if she came back and found him playing in the road or something).

Just to say, it was very much appreciated Trib - sorry to have added to the stress of the day! Anyway he did have a lovely time playing power rangers and the party was great. I'm just sorry we couldn't stay longer. Hope the rest of it was stress-free

DS2 is not letting the fact that he's under quarantine (for hand, foot and mouth disease) hinder him - he's also trying to walk. He can do that 'drunk coming back from the pub' stagger for a few steps now, but only when forced to by me and DH - he much prefers to crawl as he gets around much faster (and has less chance of being knocked over by DS1). Stair climbing has suddenly been mastered too - we keep finding him in the attic, and our house is on four floors so it's a long way up there.

Giddy, sounds like you've had a fantastic time

Sending good luck vibes for the job Katz.

Strawberry picking sounds great Tea. We've had some produce from DH's allotment - it's his first year, so every item plucked from the soil must be celebrated and praised, even if it's only a radish

sfxmum · 27/06/2006 15:06

hello all
am off again this week and plan on spending most of July training, well it beats work, keeping quiet about when i am leaving (actually have not yet made a decision)

yesterday i spent the day accompanying an elderly relative to various medical appointments in town, pretty hard to criss cross London avoiding the tube when there is a fire at kings cross, it took me all day, a long soggy day, but nice to spend time with auntie, she is quite madand nice

tea - lovely strawberries think dd would just hoover them up, loves them - good luck with the stains

2happy - hope things ok, same for all of you 'expecting'

giddy - that sounds like a good time

trib - glad party went well, imagine when ds is at school and you have a bunch of 5yr old running

mrsW - the stairs!! glad i dont have that worry, but they always seem to manage it fine as we keep getting more and more grey hair

hi to all of you lurkers, hope you are all well

tribpot · 28/06/2006 19:41

MrsW, not to worry, I needed that glimpse of what lies in my future in order to appreciate the non-walking ds I currently have all the more!

Ds gave me two days off his punishing schedule of 5 a.m. starts but last night decided that wasn't enough and refused to sleep in his cot, so I had him in with me (read: did not sleep) and then got up at 5:30 anyway, am utterly destroyed by this. My two 'lie-ins' consisted of me lying there dreading the moment when he might awake anyway, it's awful.

So I have abandoned everything domestic I should be doing and we are getting a Chinese takeaway - huzzah! This is a big deal as we can't really eat takeaway food cos of dh's food intolerances, so I am condemned to a life of producing healthy home cooked meals, v tedious.

I'm actually wondering if I can phone in sick to work on the grounds of being too tired But then again, work is a relaxing interlude compared to being here anyway!

sfxmum · 29/06/2006 08:21

morning all

oh trib that is tough, dd has been waking up early too anything after 4.30am seems to be fair game. usually i boob juice hr into submission hold her close and she sleeps a bit longer. she is not sleeping through anymore either. i keep telling myself that its on account of the major milestone coming up, she also seems to be having a growth spurt.
hope it gets better, still dragging my heels regarding black out blinds but i guess it has to be done.

hope you all well

2Happy · 29/06/2006 09:21

Morning. ds is waking up early too, but I'm lucky - his "early" is 6.30, which is considerably more human than blooming 5.30 or - OMG! - 4.30! Yuk! Much sympathy!
ds is pretty miserable today actually, having real problems cutting his second pre-molar. It's all swollen and sore. I'm going to the dentist myself for a check up today, so I might get him to look. Not that there's anything he can do I suppose, it just looks so much more swollen than any of his other teeth have. Not looking forward to the rest of the molars...

teabelly · 29/06/2006 11:20

Morning ladies

I feel sure I've missed at least one birthday 27th/28th???? so if anyone is lurking and it was their lo's birthday - many happy returns!

Trib - lol at the more restful at work - I know exactly what you mean and couldn't agree more - I think I'd only want to be a full time SAHM if my two were at a nursery for a couple of days whilst I was out shopping!

Commiserations on the early starts - luckily for us although this week dd has been waking up a tad earlier (5.30 onwards instead of her usual 6.30) we can just put her in our bed and she soon goes off again. I think it's the sun peeping through bright and early...oh or maybe for dd it's the early morning 125's doing the KingsX/Edinburgh run almost outside her her bedroom window...or then again maybe it's the early morning Luton departures...!

Good evening Junies! Not sure if anyone will remember me, as I have been lurking for months, but wanted to pop in to wish all the Junie babies/toddles happy belated birthdays.

I've been back at work since Jan and was full time since easter, but just wangled friday afternoons off - hoorah!

We have much cruising here and a few words.......tik tock, socks and the current favourite, following a visit to a local farm centre.......Duck!

Glad everyone seems to be doing so well! Can't believe a whole year has passed so quickly.

Take care allx

mandymac · 29/06/2006 19:28

'toddlers' of course, not 'toddles'

sfxmum · 29/06/2006 20:53

hi mandymac nice to see you glad things ok

we went swimming today, dd loves it i had not been with her before dh usually takes her.

speaking of dh he went out and came back with a bottle of bubblyapparently he feels happy
dear junies, should i worry

tribpot · 30/06/2006 08:01

sfx, random buying of champers, definitely cause for concern Actually (not to put a downer on the whole day) I would love it if my dh could ever go out alone or ever have the energy to do something spontaneous and fun like that. Sorry if that's too miserable a thought

Been up since 5:15 - perhaps not obvious that my ds is not of the 'wake early, be fed and return to slumber' school of Juniehood. After an hour of trying to get him back to sleep now I have left him in his cot to cry it out, I feel absolutely awful. We have got ourselves into such a mess I think I am going to have to call the sleep lady again.

sfxmum · 30/06/2006 09:40

hi trib, not downer think you have a lot on your plate and some complainig is allowed, also massive wobbly with stamping of feet if you feel like it.

dh, keeping to true old married form, went on to play some sort of pc game with lots of shooting of bad mutant baddies or something, my warrior
i was watching telly

hope you are all ok

katzg · 30/06/2006 10:27

trib - you are not the only one in the junieschool of early risers, dd2 got up at 5.45am, but for us this is an improvement she goes down at 7.30pm and sleeps through until 5.30am ish.

OP posts:
sfxmum · 01/07/2006 10:56

hello good morning all

dd up at 5amwe sort of stayed in bed for another hr while i tried to get her back to sleep but only succeeding in falling asleep myself by 6 i kicked dh awake and bless him he got up to entertain child. i slept until 8.30 so spoilt!
she did wake up a few times during the night, hot weather i think, not looking forward to the next few nights.

and also one feels divided today, think miserably failing the Norman Tebbit test
actually i don't rally care that much

tribpot · 01/07/2006 12:47

Oh dear sfx, Norman will be round shortly to have you thrown out of the country Actually I couldn't care less either, so I will support Portugal with you, how's that? The only team I remotely care about (Tunisia) have been chucked out - and I only cared about them because I have them in the office sweepstake

teabelly · 02/07/2006 19:46

Evening ladies

Hiya Muma and EYM - glad you're both doing well!

SFX...Normal Tebit??? I must have missed something...? Not difficult as no train to work = no paper (no time to read them anymore) and 4yr old ds = spiderman or thunderbirds running conatantly on the telly!

Just popping in (and trying to stop melting - can't believe how hot it still is at 7.45!) but just on the off-chance that they were lurking I wanted to wish Lippy and KVG 's little girls many happy returns

Right I'm off to have a shower and hopefully cool down, catch you all next week, x
