giddy - have a look at the london zoo website i am pretty sure if dd1 has a badge an adult is able to get in free as carer. also some tickets are cheaper if bought in advance. and yes there is parking at the zoo.
can't tell you about stations i have always walked or been driven there so not sure and besides it has been a while since i have been.
can look for more details tomorrow.

tribpot · 21/05/2006 21:23

Giddy, with dd1 I would drive. \link{http://www.zsl.org/london-zoo/visit/how-to-find-us,125,AR.html\London Zoo how to find us} and \link{http://www.zsl.org/london-zoo/visit/access-for-disabled-visitors,126,AR.html\Access for disabled visitors}. It's outside the congestion zone, but make sure to plan a route there that doesn't involve going into it (although Londoners - there are no congestion charges at weekends anyway? And if so, a disabled badge holder wouldn't have to pay, but would be more hassle to stop and confirm the badge exists?)

Literally nearest tube station is Camden Town, but all the stations below the zoo, Regent's Park etc are on the Bakerloo line from Paddington. Aylesbury trains come into to Marylebone (also on the Bakerloo line), MK trains come into Euston, which is only a couple of stops away, and Oxford trains come into Paddington.

katzg · 21/05/2006 21:31

have booked our train tickets got some cheap ones so not tooo expensive!

we will arrive at St Pancras at 10.46 and i think this is then just 3 stops on the northern line to camden town station and then a 15min walk, so i guess we would be at the zoo at around 11.30ish. Can i suggest we meet somewhere for lunch?

we then have to be on the 6.25pm train back so will have all pm in the zoo.

now just need to convert my tesco vouchers into days out vouchers!

thanks for all the brilliant advice that is really helpful and made it much clearer. Smile

Skyler · 21/05/2006 21:47

Lummox Shock and Grin. Congratulations. Oooh I am broody now!! Arrrgh.

Bubbaloo · 21/05/2006 22:09

Me too,SkylerGrin.

lummox · 22/05/2006 08:03

Thanks all. Not sure I quite believed it myself until I'd posted it (and done six tests Blush). Have to say that it has cured my broodiness pretty sharpish. I'd forgotten the completely leaden tiredness. Not as bad as the newborn who never sleeps tiredness (guess that's to come), but pretty draining.

We had thought maybe a two year gap, but this will be 20 months. Am hoping that this will mean that ds forgets that he ever was the only one pretty quickly. And trying not to think about dealing with ds and a newborn and all the nappies.

The London meet-up sounds exciting. I'd hoped that we might be in the UK and be able to make it, but it's not looking so good now. Hope you all have a fantastic time.

trib - funny you should say that about the ante-natal threads. I've been putting off joinging the due in January folk because I don't want to leave the Junies.

2Happy · 22/05/2006 09:33

Congrats, Lummox Grin I'm on the Jan 07 thread now (even though I have no idea when I'm due Blush) so you won't be entirely without Junies, lol!
Lua - yes, I feel like printing that thread off, it's so funny!
Thanks everyone else for your kind words. Like Lummox, we'd been thinking of a two year gap too, so this is a bit of a surprise. I just know MiL is going to have a face like a dog's bottom when she finds out... It's nice to be on MN where people are genuinely pleased for you!
I'm off to the docs tomorrow, hopefully get a dating scan soon and get some idea of EDD. Meanwhile, I shall mostly be hugging the toilet bowl (does that put any of you broody ones off?!!)

Hi there, i am relatively new 2 mn.( why I didn’t know about it before is beyond me ) My ds 2 was born on the 1st of June, same day as dps birthday. She’s a little monkey; it defiantly has gone to fast this time. I can’t believe its been a year. She hasn’t taken her first steps yet, she like to clime, witch is worse I think. The London zoo meet up sounds like fun, would any one mind if I came along? I am from the south, actually I am as south as you could possible get, with out living on a boat, and we live on an island so a big day out with my 2 dd’s would be great. Although 23 is my bday, but I can’t think of any thing else better 2 do!
Congratulations to all you who are expecting,

katzg · 22/05/2006 09:50

bresha - welcome! do come to london zoo - the more the merrier!

katz - 11.30 - 12 sounds good to me. what does everyone else think

2happy what thread wss that then? did it involve much reporting of peeing on sticks? did you perfect aim?

i was very nauseous first time but sick only once, of course 2nd time might be very different indeed

bresha · 22/05/2006 10:37

what day are you planing to meet? has anyone heard of www.megatrain.com/index.php. its only £1 to london, sounds 2 good to be true, 11.30 - 12 sounds like a good time to meet, just in time for lunch

2Happy · 22/05/2006 12:14

SFX 'twas \link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=1364&threadid=167550&stamp=060520214140\this} thread

lummox · 22/05/2006 12:26

2happy - congrats to you. Glad I'll have some company. Sorry if I should know this, but are you 2happy because you have two so far, and this will be your third?

bresha - hi there and welcome.

sfx - am wondering whether this time round is going to be different. I'm already finding a bit of a difference in that I'm thinking about the new one more in terms of what s/he will be like and what it will be like to have two (although only early days still, so still a bit cautious - have hardly told anyone in real life). With ds I was a bit more fixated on the pregnancy and birth bit I think.

I'm already finding it hard to remember what things felt like, so I checked out some old threads. Turns out I started posting on the first Junie thread when I was at almost exactly the same stage. Scary stuff.

So glad I did though - it's like having the pregnancy diary that I was too lazy to keep.

2Happy · 22/05/2006 12:30

lummox - nah, I only have one so far (ds). I called myself 2Happy because every name I came up with someone else had already used. Ended up using what was my password years ago for computers at uni (when it was an ironic statement from a sad first year who's into the Smiths.... sigh Blush But now it's true, I am just too happy Grin)
Oh, and hello bresha, welcome.

sfxmum · 22/05/2006 12:44

2happy - Grin Grin Grin
do tell of dating scan.
the only thing which eased my nausea was fizzy watr and very strong mints

oh i feel so so broodyGrin

sfxmum · 22/05/2006 12:51

whenever i do get pregnant again i hope i can relax a bit more. given my history i found it hard to just believe i would have a baby.
but second time after a successful pregnancy must be different.

i still have just over a stone to loose, after than its all systems go Grin and less cakes next time
better get on with it not getting any younger

oh god just thought menopause will coincide with teenagedom!!!Shock

(goes away to calm down in the corner)

lummox · 22/05/2006 12:54

sfx - can't believe you're feeling broody and discussing morning sickness in the same post!

2happy - wahey - someone in the same boat! my brother has already told me that having one child is like having a pet, but having two is like opening a zoo. So comforting.

2Happy · 22/05/2006 12:58

sfx - ROFPMSL at menopause/teenager! Grin I have decided I am going to have my kids, then go for a tummy tuck Wink Watch out for me on 10 years younger, lol! (alternatively I could get off my fat behind and exercise.... hmmm. I'll need to think about that one! Wink)
lummox - a zoo, huh? Can't wait... It's very exciting, I didn't have mn last time, so it's great to be able to share this all second time round Smile

sfxmum · 22/05/2006 13:07

keeping it quiet from dh just in case starts planning an escape from hormones-r-us
no way he can see that far ahead1 what with being a man and all

bresha · 22/05/2006 13:13

Lol, having 2 is a bit like a zoo, well with all our pets as well my house certainly is, dose any one else here have any older kids? I have a dd who is 4
