waves at everyone

Yes, I hope we newbies haven't scared off the originals!

No sleep training here!! Baby diamond does 12 hrs @ night with anything from 2-4 10 min feeds, really feel it when it is 4 but he does have what may be the beginnings of another cold which me feel slightly better about the wakings! will prob let ds gradually stretch out, he has done 7 hr stretches @ night just not on a regular basis- no wonder my boobs are having a hard time adjusting!!

Had a bit of a hectic week culminating in having a tooth taken out on Fri, pain what pain. labour really has adjusted my Outlook on pain!

Has anyone done baby signing? What did you think of it??

hahaha I think we have scared them! They all on FB I believe, so me thinks unlikely we see them again here - is a shame really as they are such a lovely bunch, this thread kept me going, but It took me a while to brave posting by which time I guess was too late to join the original crew (although they were nice and welcoming).
seems we are in the same boat with sleep, babyCava also wakes up 2-4 times and is yet to do more than 4.5h stretch. She is also up at 8ish always regardless so this is at least predictable. At least we are doing well weightwise with all the night feeds Grin
diamond synpathy re dentist, I am also going on Tuesday as tooth pain for a week, and wisdom tooth has to go, absolutely dreading it! Do you know whether local anaesthetic is ok when bf?
went to baby group where they did some songs with signing- felt really inadequate as don't know the signs and was waiving hands like a windmill, so babyCava was Confused and I felt stupid. I am not sure how much they get out of it at this stage, but a friend with much older ds told me it was really helpful to express himself before he started to talk (he learned to sign at nursery). There was no signing when my ds and dd1 were babies but things have changed a lot since then.
wishing you a quiet night

As we are all new, maybe we should introduce ourselves.
I'm thechick, my LO is 23 weeks yesterday. I live in London and he is ds2. Ds1 is 13. I'm loving being at home but will have to go back to work in September. LO is ebf and we are going to start solids when he is 6 months, prob will do a mixture of purees and blw. LO doesn't sleep through the night and rolls over when angry.

Hiya yes sorry everyone has decamped to FB... kinda nice to see pics of the babies Blush sometimes the anonymity of MN is reassuring though (maybe I should namechange every now and again to make sure!) I feel a bit guilty as I only joined in late and has been very supportive over the past couple of months, so will try to pop back in here too.
DD 24 weeks almost. Looking forward to starting solids, well kinda cos I quite enjoy BF, but it's exciting to see them moving onto new stages Smile Planning on mainly BLW, maybe a bit of mush too but will see how it goes. Gave her a cup with some milk in it the other day (defiant bottle refuser) and she screwed up her face like it was something terrible!

Oh facebook I see makes sense for mass exodus! Is a shame as like other newbies I'd followed for a while but bit nervous to join in, joining group nearly as scarey as doing it in real life!
Ok so ds is my first, I'm 32 nearly 33 and ds will be 25 weeks on Wed. We're going ok had a week of sleeping through at Xmas but none since generally waking 3 times a night I think another spurt is due as the last few days he's had a massive appetite! Scared of weaning as massive responsibility to get it right but will try my hardest!
Ds has been formula fed since mid Jan when I was exhausted 3rd round of tonsilitus in as many months and conjunctivitis at the same time did me in. He will take a bottle and considered expressing but was feeling so poorly and on antibiotics and drops I had to let dh and mil step in and help, it makes me sad but it was the right decision at the time.
Not and easy birth, had planned water birth in local mlu, held of going it until 8cm and needed to push quite quickly then my labour slowed despite lucozade (hehe) and he was stuck so I was blue lights to hospital. Still feel sorry for pregnant lady that heard me pushing in the lift hahaha. Once there he was back to back and couldn't get him out so vaccum was used with epesiotomy (can't spell). Then placenta split I lost blood he stopped breathing oh the full lot!!! And may I say I did it all on paracetamol very proud of myself :) I laugh about it now if it was going to happen to anyone it would be me!
Few well enough about me how about you guys?? Brew

Thanks for sympathy re dentist, tooth or lack of tooth is feeling better, dentist said the local would be ok, only issue maybe if I was to have a general. The dentist did say he wouldn't give me antibiotics unless absolutely necessary as they pass through in small amounts

slightly
I too was an observer too, not brave enough to actually post, there was something nice and reassuring reading about women going through the same things as you. Finally plucked up the courage and now most have gone to the other side sigh!! Hey ho passes Brew and Biscuit because its too early for Wine hopefully we will be supportive to each other.

Ds1 is almost 24 wks, sob my baby is growing up so fast!
I used to live in London, now have moved to Croydon and I'm 29.

It's coming up to weaning, I think we will do mainly blw with some mush currently ebf used to give a bottle every so often of expressed which he use to take but he has now decided its not for him Sad which made things interesting for my kit days

Wow didn't realise it would be so long slowly backs away into the corner

morning all, babyCava is 5 months in a couple of days, not sure what it is in weeks.. Had uncomplicated elcs and she is ebf, not likey the bottle so no rest for me! We started having a bit of puree for fun last week she likes it a lot! Will do mix blw and puree as I did with my two older kids and it went really well, they have very good diet and vey openminded about food (ds&dd1 in their 20s so not volunteering how old I am Blush
slightly I had the same experience with ds, two tonsilitus and a ear infection was so unwell could not bf, he was 4 months, I would not beat myself up about it, he grew up very healthy and smart silly proud mum
great birth story too, glad all ended well, makes all birth plans redundant no?
chick I am also going back to work in September, very worried about childcare, in denial and only started looking recently, then last week saw headline in local newspaper (I live in LDN) "nursery closed child porn video found" so now comletely paranoid!
hi smile is nice to see you back here, I like MN because it is inclusive and quite well regulated, so one feels protected from bullying and harasement ( at least this is my impression) whereas on other social networks one is more vulnerable in general, so understandable you guys are so protective of the FB group. I must say this has been the friendliest and most supportive thread of likeminded people I have come accross, which encouraged me to join, so it is a shame you all left, but I hope we newbies can keep the spirit!
off to wash what is left of my hair catch up lata!

I'm still here :) Just a quick wave and run. I'm in 2 minds about joining FB group as I like the anonymity of MN but I MISS YOU GUYS waaaaaaah!!! Check in here from time to time!

Our bean is 6 months next week. We have a high chair now which she likes sitting in and have given her a little water from her sippy cup. She also had 2 spoonfuls of baby rice (which tbh was pure liquid the way they recommend mixing it lol) and seemed to enjoy the novelty of her spoon. Her bibs and some little freezer pots should be arriving from Amazon tomorrow so I will start cooking up some stuff then :)

Angelico, hope the funeral was ok. So sorry it's gotten so quiet over here.

Sorry to you new guys too- it's absolutely not personal, it has just gradually happened really that we started using FB more. Maybe we should have some sort of torch passing ceremony to hand you guys the reigns of the thread... "Use it wisely etc".

I'm still checking in from time to time. My dd is dd2 - dd1 is 5.5 now and a gorgeous big sister. Baby is 5.5 months old and lovely. She's a placid happy baby in the day times (usually, touches wood and crosses fingers so as not to jinx it) but horrendous at night - sleeps in 1 hr chunks at best and has done since Christmas. Keep telling myself it willl get better one day. Please let it be soon!

No worries London be nice to hear how your all getting on every now and then, it could be like an Olympic torch as I'd liken raising a baby to be a marathon runner hitting many walls but keeping going. Although I'm more "run fat boy run" haha
Hi angelico sure we're not the same but will try :)
cava boo hiss to naps hope tonight goes ok.
I've had q lovely day, met up for coffee with some mums from baby sensory only my second ever mum date but gave me hope I'll make more mum friends.
I'm shattered, ds in bed hoping he sleeps better been eating like a monster day and night....growth spurt??

Hi all I'm still here ! It is hard work keeping up with this and fb but I like this thread so don't want to disappear yet!

Baby wooly suddenly much better at sleeping, last 3 nights has gone 7pm to 5am twice and to 6am once. I feel like a new woman! So it can suddenly improve for those that are still suffering! (Having said that she'll probably be back to 6 night feeds tonight ha ha). We are 6 months in a couple of weeks and have started giving some fruit & veg purees which she is lapping up. Know what you mean angelico we did baby rice first but mixed it a lot thicker than instructed.

Anyhoo hello new peeps! Grin

Feel so bad...... Life is a blur and is so much easier on FB.....! I too will try and pop in! I am back to work intermittent days and time is tricky!! DS still not a great sleeper. Does average 2hr chunks at night but at least goes back to sleep between them. Feel like I will actually get some semblance of normality once I am working properly, as hard as it will be. I've no idea how to link to a new thread, will see if someone can do it for you.......

Best wishes to you all, you seem to be getting on well already!!

Hi everyone!

My dd was born on 7th Oct (I've lost count of weeks now and am just thinking in months) - I was induced but after four days of not dilating and general boredom I had an emcs, which all went smoothly.

We are starting weaning Easter weekend, I'm really excited about dd discovering new food, but I have a feeling there might end up being more food on the floor and the walls than in her mouth...I'm still not sure what foods to start with so will have to finish reading up on it this week (as well as child-proofing, which we haven't done anything about yet!).

morning all, quick wave and run to dentist and taking babyCava for weight check today. Que noche at the Cava house, will never EVER cook and eat bean casserole as long as I bf!. BabyCava woke herself up farting every two hours, and tbh I could have propelled meself to the moon! DP very nearly decamped to spare room due to near chemical warfare situation in bedrooom Grin

Hi all! Sorry for the silence, I went to a holiday cottage in the middle of nowhere for a few days with old friends - no Internet! Didn't know what to do with myself! Had a great time though, and DS is loving the attention. It'll be hard to go back to Japan.

Thanks so much for the offer of a footmuff Cava, sorry I didn't reply earlier. We've been doing well with just a snow suit, but we've borrowed one from another friend now. Grin @ bean casserole farts! Hope you've sorted things out with DH now.

Love the "run fanboy run" image, Slightly, though I'm sure it's nothing like that!

Definitely nothing personal with the Facebook thing, it's been happening very gradually for a while now, so just bad timing I think. Love our MN thread, but unfortunately FB is just easier for sound bites/photos/mobile access etc. it's really hard to keep up with both, especially now we all seem to be getting back to our old lives PLUS baby.
I'll probably post more when I get home in a couple of weeks as my social life is much less hectic there, sadly. Though then I'll be back to work, which I'm really not looking forward to. Sad

Here's my recap....PFB DS is 20 weeks old, born fairly uneventfully on Oct. 26th, live in Japan with Japanese DH, currently visiting friends and family in the UK for a few weeks. Breastfeeding and hoping to continue til about 1 year, planning to BLW after 6months but not in any hurry. Sleep was going well and we had somehow stumbled into a good routine, until fairly recently when we had a bit of regression, then we went back a few time zones and that's not helped either!

Wow, just wrote a novel! Sorry!
