cwest the other week I put my phone through the wash (pocket of dressing gown) and it survived! It also has several cracks to the screen....Im not good with phones!

Woolybob · 12/03/2013 07:33

oh dear cheesy hope you feel better, have a Brew and be kind to yourself today.

cwest have you tried the burying in rice trick?

sightly agree with beccus we definitely have a little going to sleep grizzle here especially in the pushchair but otherwise I always pick up, no way can you spoil them at this age.

last 4 nights baby wooly just up for one night feed 7-7. winning at last? We've put her in her own room at the weekend as I think we were just disturbing each other so I am still lying awake listening for her half the night but hopefully that will pass. Also gave her a bit of carrot. Weekend of firsts...

DuPainDuVinDuFromage · 12/03/2013 09:29

Hi londonmrss, I've pm'ed you about the FB group...

And hi to everyone else too, I haven't posted on here before but have lurked for a long time! DD was born early October but I only really got into MN when she was a couple of months old.

Thechick · 12/03/2013 09:48

I'm still here. I read when I do my night feeds. Don't think I'm leaving the house today. I hate being cold and all the layers I need to put on H to go out. The temperature in my house got to 19.5. I don't think it's ever been that cold. Went to an nct tea group yesterday. It was very nice.
cwest you asked about my story. I was 33+4 weeks on the thursday and started getting regular braxton hicks. I'd had them since I was about 17 weeks regularly off and on so just expected them to stop. Overnight they continued and during the day on Friday. At about 2.30 I had some spotting but again I'd had spotting at different points of my pregnancy but called the assessment unit and they said to come in. They checked my cervix and it was firmly shut. I wasn't having a baby any time soon but they gave me steroid injections just in case, but probably wouldn't need it. They kept me in hospital because they needed to give me the next set of injections, and then because I still was having regular braxton hicks they wanted to keep me another night. They checked my cervix again about 8 on the Saturday night, I was 2 to 3 cm and LO was born 12 hrs later by vbac. He was in scbu for 16 days due to low blood sugar and jaundice and feeding issues. He was mixed fed whilst in the hospital and we established bf a couple of weeks after he got out. He was having tremors in his sleep for a while after leaving the hospital but he's been completely fine.

Cherrychopsticks · 12/03/2013 18:24

Hi, just checking in quickly to say I'm still here and still reading, just haven't had much time to post recently.

Thanks for the concern Smiley and Smorgs, I was quite stressed for a week or 2, and feeling like a bit of a failure but then I gave up on the naps and we had some great weather and I went out for some long walks and started to feel much better. I'm always a bit up and down. Hopefully more up than down!

In England now, the flight went really well. DS was a star and slept loads, didn't cry at all and I'd packed well, despite stressing over it so much. It's so cold though, and there isn't a foot muff on the pushchair we've borrowed so haven't been out much yet.

Sorry it's all me today, will catch up with everyone's news soon but got to dash now - off to get fish and chips!

Cavatina · 12/03/2013 19:45

Cherry I have a spare foot muff (Maclaren) I am happy to lend you while you are in Uk - pm me if you are interested.

MickeyTheShortOne · 12/03/2013 23:12

ok i am really far behind on this thread.. but hello to you all and i hope everything is going ok.
we are in the throes of bastard 4 month sleep regression here and its shit. i am also having huge anxiety problems which is causing insomnia........Sad
basically i feel like i could sleep for a week. but i cant. have been using a yantra mat (which i would recommend for anyone!! they are fab!!) which is helping somewhat, but of course doesnt help when DD wakes up...Hmm
heres hoping it will be over soon
and in other news... no period. Confused shit shit shiiiiit. im on the pill and everything Hmm

Smorgs · 13/03/2013 08:24

Ooooh it's spookily quiet on here. I feel a bit bad about that because this thread has been an amazing support for me over the last year and I'd hate for someone else needing that support to miss out because we decamped.
Anyway, little man has caught my cold. I am about to get on a flight with a snotty, wailing infant and as an incubator for new and unusual forms of the cold virus myself. I think I stand a good chance of being Most Hated Passenger. Plus it snowed here overnight so there are bound to be delays meaning fractious baby/mummy. Gah.

Smorgs · 13/03/2013 09:24

Fuck was planning a catch up but Smorglet producing lots of green watery nappies and the boiler just broke!

Thechick · 13/03/2013 10:29

I'm still here. Where is everyone?

Londonmrss · 13/03/2013 10:42

Mickey are you bfing? my periods are all over the place- current one is 11 weeks after the last- don't panic.
sleep is very sporadic here too. ugh.

oop, baby is awake

Cavatina · 13/03/2013 11:23

has anyone here done baby resuscitation and first aid training? I think it might be a good idea in anticipation of weaning.

Orenishii · 13/03/2013 11:39

Still here! Just going through hard times with DS and hardly have time to do anything. Very clingy so hard to post or read even. Hope everyone is well though. Cherry, excellent news on the flight. Re foot muff I didn't have one for ages - just pram suit and blankets.

crazypaving · 13/03/2013 12:34

cavatina yes I did baby resus and would heartily recommend. just having a vague clue about where to start if it all goes horribly wrong. you read such awful, heartbreaking stories about choking and death or brain damage. doesn't bear thinking about. think I'll still be chopping grapes in half when they're 15!!

slightlyroundthebend · 13/03/2013 16:27

Catalina I looked into it with St Johns Ambulance before ds was born and literally haven't had opportunity to go on the course but o think it's something I need MUST make time for, maybe granny could watch him for a few days??
Tooth no 2 popped yesterday Wahoo followed by best night in ages only woke once at 4 for feed then back to sleep till getting up time at 6. Oddly still feeling rubbish this cough and cold just won't do one!
Halfway through the week, any good weekend plans?

DuPainDuVinDuFromage · 13/03/2013 16:39

I've read the nhs guidance on what to do if a baby chokes, hoping that's enough but I would feel much less worried if I could have some practical training. Will add it to the list of things to look into.

On a separate topic, are there other people who have yet to see any signs of teething (other than constant chewing and drooling, which dd has been doing since 3 months)?

Cavatina · 13/03/2013 17:51

thank you guys, Crazy were did you do it? My local active birth centre offers it but not until June... + I thik it is £45, I know one cannot put a price on life but still It is a bit steep no?
Teething- I hope not yet, but a lot of drooling and rubbing gums so probbly not far off. Slightly, two already? bravoo!
Nothing planned for the weekend yrt, am hoping to do some baby shopping as babyCava outgrowing her 3-6 months babygros(partially os her mum shrunk most of them in the dryer, but how stupud is it to sell babygros which are not tumbledryable!) obv I should have checked before buying...

YompingJo · 13/03/2013 17:59

Still here. Knackered, sleep is shit. Just about hanging on to sanity... Weirdly dd has had a run of the happiest days ever, how does she do it when she's up every bloody hour or two during the night? Is she not getting enough food during the day normally and now she's feeding 3 or 4 times at night too, she's happier? Who knows... I'm certainly not happier with this arrangement...

smile4me · 13/03/2013 20:02

oren was reading 'breastfeeding for health care professionals' (huge fat text book with proper info on everything) and there's a bit on differetiating slow growth from failure to thrive in bf babies. Essentially it says slow growth is otherwise doing normal things (normal nappies, happy baby, meeting milestones etc) and TOTALLY normal (just like you know). Babies find their own growth curve post natally, some go up and some down, both of which is fine. Maybe you Dr needs to read that book!

Thoroughly recommend St Johns training, although keeping cool when doing it on your own baby would be difficult! 111 operators are fantastic and will talk you throgh everything too if you get stuck/panic and forget Smile

londonlivvy · 13/03/2013 20:07

my sure start centre ran an emergency first aid course for babies and toddlers and it was free!!! so do ask your sure start centre if they do anything similar. it was a 3 hour course on the basics and they had a creche too (free) for crawling babies and upwards.

the lady who did the course was a paramedic and was brilliant. I feel much more confident.

slightlyroundthebend · 13/03/2013 20:20

London that's great about surestart, I'll ask at mine and see. It's something important I don't even know adult first aid!
Cava he's been teething since ten weeks and to be fair I'm an intruder on this thread as he was born 26th Sept, but Sept thread is very very slow and needed a place to vent! So he's maybe a little older. Drooling for weeks and weeks and weeks!!!
Yomping last night was my best nights sleep since New yrs eve sleep regression and teething made ,nights utter hell I have been feeling very low about them as any mums I know in real life seem to have Angels that sleep 12hrs! Paaahhh whatever!
Trying a musical tots class tomorrow run by a local mum, hope it's ok :$

diamondbutterfly · 13/03/2013 21:03

Hiya room for 1 more? Ds1 born 5th Oct @ home as planned. It's not as brave/ crazy as it sounds ( the hospital was literally around the corner!) Look forward to getting to know you all, you seem a lovely bunch! Smile

slightlyroundthebend · 13/03/2013 21:14

Hello diamond I'm a newly too, not as brave as you I tried mlu but was back to back and got stuck so blue light to hospital eeek!

diamondbutterfly · 13/03/2013 21:29

slightly mlu was what I wanted initially but where I live they r pro home birth. The thing that swung it for me was all appointments @ home & 2 midwives for the delivery. 2nd midwife arrived after baby was born! I don't know if I will be that brave/stupid next time, proximity to hospital a big factor! 4 me birth good/bad is only the start of the journey, the rest of ur life is the full journey which last a whole longer!

slightlyroundthebend · 13/03/2013 22:27

diamond I agree birth seems so long ago and I actually look back with a smile despite it turning into an emergency. Well it's not put me off having a second anyway hehe
