..and as bob said, i've posted some photos from rosie's portrait sessions. typing with baby now so must dash...

ChaCha · 03/05/2006 19:57

Rodeo - Happy Birthday, do hope you're enjoying a lovely fun filled day. :o It's been a beautiful day here, hope the sunshine's been out for you too.

Talk soon.

beartime · 03/05/2006 20:14

what's a chignon?!

One bridesmaid is keeping her hair as normal - its always styled. And the other one has long hair and is twisting some of it round her head and offered to do that for me - maybe I should just go with that Smile

GarfieldsGirl · 03/05/2006 21:03

Hiya, anyone else got their schoolchildren at home tomorrow because of polling?

Hopefully will be a nice day like today and w're going out for a picninc with Owen's friend.

DPs leg looks really horrible. The frame on it never bothered me, bt now you can just see the big chunk thats been taken out of it and its not very nice to look at now. Yuck!! He looks really strange in jeans though.

BoB - Sean was actually 8 days late too, was due 31st Oct. I was just interested in when each did things becasue the difference between the two of them at birth was huge, but Sean was over a lb heavier than Owen was too, so maybe it had a lot to do with when I was pregnant. All speculation of course, and probably all a load of crap, but Sean's certainly doing everything quite a lot quicker than Owen did.

Bear - sorry I can't help with the hair dilemma, but why don't you have a word with the bride, see what she says?

Talking of brides, I've decided I want to get married next summer, but have yet to ask dp Grin what he thinks. We've been engaged for about 7 years so its not like its sudden!!

BEKs - Very happy for you that Ben got the school that you wanted Smile

Tex111 · 03/05/2006 21:16

Bear, it's a French twist. Just the hair all twisted up so there's a kind of seam up the back of the head. Probably doing a terrible job of describing it. Blush

browniechick · 03/05/2006 21:16

Hi all. Bear - a chignon is like a french pleat or roll, basically hair is twisted up and pinned at the back of the head. I have been a bridesmaid a few times, and on some weddings the bride has included the bridesmaids in the hair appointment, and others I just did my own. Speak to the bride and see what she wants you to do.
Congratulations to one and all about school places - glad everyone got what they wanted.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR RODEO......HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU.[GRIN][GRIN]
Have a smashing day!!

Well, tonight we tried mashed banana - that also went down a treat! think little T is gonna be like his Daddy, and like his food!!!!! Have bought some sweet potato, some more pears, apple and parsnip (oh and more carrots - may give that one a go again in a while!!) so can try T with some veggies too (ones that aren't like big lumps of brick!!!)
Am still waiting for my Annabel Karmel book to come from Amazon, so am flying a bit blind at the moment! Am only giving T rice & fruit/veg at one meal a day, along with usual bottle, and then bottles as normal the rest of the time. Does this sound about right to all you experienced weaners (that sounds a bit rude - a'la "front bottom"!!!!!!) He has been having rice for just over a fortnight, and started with pear on Sat.
Work is going ok, but am quite busy, but that means I don't have too much time to think about little man whilst there, so this is a good thing.....I think!

Hope all are well, will go and have a look at yahoo soon to catch up on photos..

B&T

oh yes, T is very snuffly at the moment, not sure if it's a cold, hayfever (can they get it this young?) or teething (am putting everything down to teething at the moment...he's got a cough - oh it's because he's teething!!!!) But he is finding it hard to breathe through his nose - have used some boots child vapour rub, but any other suggestions would be gratefully received....

B

browniechick · 03/05/2006 21:20

Oh bum, that was supposed to be:
happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Rodeo, happy birthday to you GrinGrin

novadandypowder · 03/05/2006 21:22

BEKs - Good going Thomas! He felt so light when I held him at the meet. People always get caught out with Nat, they ask to hold her and then the look on their faces when they realise how heavy she is is a picture. And hoorah for the school place Grin

I keep forgetting to say Happy Birthday to Rodeo, so Happy Birthday Rodeo

GG - I love weddings so you have my full support Grin. How lovely to be able to have your baby there too. Still not decided whether to take Nat to a friends wedding in August...

Bear - At my wedding we all did our own hair (although I now wish we had some help as my bridesmaids faffed a bit). When I was a bridesmaid a few weeks ago though we had the option of going to the hairdressers, paid for by the bride so I jumped at the chance. Agree it's best to discuss with bride/other maids, but if you get the chance of a bit of pampering go for it, just think how many pictures there wil be! (oh, and I think a chignon is like a french pleat?)

I can't bear the waiting, AF due on tuesday and am soooo tempted to get a first response test for the weekend. I don't trust them though as I got a negative with Nat with one. It's a mixed feeling though, would be good if I'm not because of the holiday, but then it means another month of trying and waiting, ho hum.

novadandypowder · 03/05/2006 21:23

ok crossed posts with everyone there so ignore my repeats - must get faster at typing!

browniechick · 03/05/2006 21:24

Buggery Arse - why didn't that work then!?
happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear RODEO.....happy birthday to you.

Hoorah - at last!!!! Grin
think it might have been user error! Wink - No! Shock

novadandypowder · 03/05/2006 21:26

Brownie - snigger at 'experienced weaners'

Forgot to ask how you found the shade-a-babe? Do you think it's worth me getting one to take on hols (although we may not be out and about that much)?

browniechick · 03/05/2006 21:29

Hhhmm - after all that excitement - it is a bit of a pain in the whatsit to be honest! However, they are extremely effective at keeping the sun and UV off the little ones sensitive skin.
They have also just added a new range of colours. I think it may have been overkill for me, in this country!! (ever the optimist hey!!) however I would definitely use one if going abroad - it's just not worth the risk these days...
Not sure this helps - sorry!

Rodeo · 03/05/2006 21:35

Hello all :)

Had a nice (but a bit busy for my liking!) birthday, thank you for all your birthday wishes :) The sunshine has been amazing Shock we've even had the paddling pool out!

My birthday shopping day is now tomorrow, going to Nottingham with my SIL, sans bebe - yes!! Hate hate hate clothes shopping with a pushchair.

Bear - Don't think being a few weeks over or under makes much difference to milestones. However, have notices that there is a big difference between my girl and boy babies though, Joe developed his motor skills a lot quicker than Bel and Jess, and the girls 'talk' alot more and are more aware of being spoken to :)

Tex - great to hear from you, v. glad you are still alive! and I'm glad you're still managing to catch up with us! Your pictures are amazing, Rosie's v.cute (even dp went 'ahhhhh') and you look gorgeous (hmm now I come to think of it maybe he was ahhhhing at you!)

Diege, got the letters today, B&J are v.pleased with the pics of the girls, Bella's gone to sleep with hers and Scarlett is pinned to our noticeboard :) I was thinking maybe we could pay a visit to Gullivers World Warrington over the summer hols, what do you think? Any takers? Twinkle? L&Smum?

Going to post this now as laptop keeps cutting me off Angry....

Nova & Brownie, thank you!! Grin Those italics must have taken you ages brownie, you're so nice :)

OP posts:
Rodeo · 03/05/2006 21:49

Brownie - sounds like you don't need Annabel to me - good going!

Chacha, lovely pics of Z :) Have you been enjoying the sunshine?

Nova - OMG! I can't believe you've told us your AF due day! We are going to be soooo excited - I'm not doing it again so will be living it through you! I'll try not to bug you too much! Hols sound lovely, short sleeved (and legged) rompers suits get my vote (Jess has got and organic cotton one with a screen print of some peapods with the slogan 'give peas a chance' Grin - it was a gift!) as well as factor 50+! Our babies haven't had any proper sun yet have they (well apart from today!)

Right, better get off, need to see the end of the Apprentice, who's going to get the boot tonight?!

Bye! x

Rodeo · 03/05/2006 21:58

DIEGE - WOW! Got to hand it to Sugar - I would never have believed it'd come down to the 2 girls! That's brilliant! I really thought he was going to sack the badge!

OP posts:
Rodeo · 03/05/2006 22:01

Just counted up my Happy Birthdays - I've got 11!! You are all lovely :) Thank you again :)

browniechick · 03/05/2006 22:10

Rodeo - you could count all of my attempts at trying to do italics!!! Then you'd have even more!!!!!!!!!!!!!Grin
Can't believe it took me so long!!!!!! Not sure why I didn't preview it sooner, then I wouldn't have made such a twit of myself!!!!

Anyway, hope it's been a good one for you chick!

From one of your many friends here on the November thread - officially the nicest thread in the world!!

B

BEKsmum · 03/05/2006 22:21

Hi ya

Ahhhhh Tex & Chacha what beautiful photo's Rosie and Zayn are just gorgeous.

Tex good to hear from you are you all lurgy free now? We are just about, although Ben had to have his nose quarterised last week and Paul came home sniffling tonight - I think I'll make him sleep in the shed if he's got a flaming cold Grin

Good news on Tobes school, the ones where you are are generally very good aren't they?

Bob well done on Oscars weight gain you must be really pleased and the avocado etc sounds yummy. He looked like he was having fun on the boat.

Nova I'm with you on the sniggering and agree with laughing at kids farting - all very childish I know but then again who wants to grow up anyway Grin
I think our two are definitely well matched as Thomas was 3 weeks early too - we've got to the point where people say "is that all" when they ask how old he is and I say 6mths Smile

Hope you get the result you really want on Tuesday - all very exciting, but no disappearing off to a new antenatal thread - 'cos we'll only stalk you Grin

Rodeo enjoy your shopping tomorrow. As for giving peas a chance - NEVER. I can't stand them and can't believe that any child of mine likes them but they both seem too - bleugh!!! Smile

Right that was only supposed to be a quickie, catch up with you all tomorrow Beks

Diege · 03/05/2006 22:31

Hi everyone!! Phew, emotionally drained from watching the Apprentice. Yes, I thought the Badge was for it too RODEO!!! Glad you had a nice birthday, how does it feel to be knocking on the door of 30? Wink. Mine in a few weeks Grin - I'm knocking at the next door along! Glad that J&B liked the letters and photos; they are always talking about their penfriends, and Scarlett in particular is very proud of being 'Joe's friend'Smile. Gulliver's World sounds great Grin; really good for younger one's too. Def. have to arrange it,great idea! Grin.
Ooh NOVA, v.exciting about testing etc...same happened with 1st response for me; took week overdue to get a positive with dd1 Shock.
BROWNIE, I use carvel capsules, squirted on her sleeping bag at night, and have always proppoed cot up from birth - could just be change in temp/adjusting to different humidity, or of course...teething!!! HI TEX, BEAR, and everyone else I haven't mentioned!
Night all!
Diege Smile

Diege · 03/05/2006 22:32

Oh meant to say RODEO, is your 'peas' top Oilily??

BEKsmum · 03/05/2006 22:51

Just popping back to say I've added a few pics of Thomas but none from the naming ceremony yet!!! Beks

novadandypowder · 04/05/2006 10:13

Bugger bugger bugger - Nat refusing to nap and we've got sing and sign in 20 mins. Guess who's going to sleep/cry during the class..

As well as being the nicest thread on MN, I think we should also add - and the cutest babies Grin. All the pics are fantastic Grin.

Agree with Rodeo that Nat is developing well vocally, and in her understanding.

babyonboard · 04/05/2006 12:18

oh dear nova! hope she wasn't too much of a grump!

what a lovely, lovely day..i just bought Oskar a little pop up tent that is u.v protected..
will be great for the park!
in fact thats where we're heading now to meet a friend with a picnic and some magazines..hooray!

hope you're all doing lovely outdoorsy things!(except you poor guys at work! Sad )

beartime · 04/05/2006 14:16

Hmmm... I think I like the long hair look with something done to it, any ideas for a do-it-yourself hairstyle with hair down? I have only ever got as far as a pony tail Blush

And - News of the Week - I started him on baby rice today! One day early Grin he liked it! And I've pureed pears, apples, sweet potato and carrot for next week. He was in my sling (due to me having ate chocolate yesterday Sad) and I was spooning out the carrot, so I gave him some on my finger, and then the sweet potato too - so I hope he's not allergic to any of them - I just couldn't resist it! Why can't you blend sweet potato? I blended it by mistake and didn't see any difference to any other purees.

Brownie - Gina says to introduce solids at mid-morning feed after half the milk, and then give rest of milk afterwards. Then after a few days, move that one to the evening, and introduce a new puree. She does it in order of baby rice, , fruit and then veg. But I don't think its a big deal at 6 mths.

BoB - glad O has put on weight Grin

Rodeo - what did you get for your birthday?

Had Caleb weighed (finally) yesterday and he weighed 15lb 15oz - still not doubled birth weight Sad. He is 6 months tomorrow - anyone have a comparison? Of course I think breastfed babies weigh less. HV got out the thrive lines and said he's fine tho' - she wasn't worried. But that is why I started him on baby rice a day early Grin

Definitely a self-absorbed post, but if we didn't do that we'd have nothing to talk about would we?!
