BEKsmum · 19/05/2006 18:25

Hi girls

Karma thinking of you today, hope everything went as well as can be expected, love to you guys.

Nova & Diege, lol at you two and your shopping. Had a splurge myself on Dh's card today as bought an album of photo's from the studio £275 ouch but they were gorgeous if I do say so myself.

Chacha, sorry baby brain & cold in full swing here, thought I'd mentioned how gorgeous Zayn was, must be losing the plot. I love the one of him on the phone it goes well with Diege's kaftan image!

Lol at the butternut squash & sweet potato references too, I bought and peeled both this week for the first time, Thomas turned his nose up at my offerings but to add insult to injury he has just wolfed down a whole jar of veg medley with sweet potato - charming Smile

Brownie hope you & Thomas feel better over the weekend, nothing worse than when you both feel rough.

Hope you girls enjoyed your shopping and meet up today, I'm with the others come on Twinkle we want all the goss on baby no.4, Nova has already let us know her af dates so you've got no excuse Grin

Help please Thomas has turned into a 20 minute power nap child, he only has two per day and will only go longer if I sit and hold him, needless to say this isn't possible with Ben around. He is also waking every half an hour between 3 & 6am every night. What the heck do I do? I have bags under my eyes even Diege & Nova couldn't fill Grin

Right best go and do my bit I suppose but really can't be arsed, dh is going paintballing tomorrow so hopefully someone will shoot him in the butt before I kick him in it Grin Have a great weekend Beks

LaylaandSethsmum · 19/05/2006 21:32

Evening!!!

Hi Twinkle thanks for meeting today it was lovely to see you and Josh again he is so cute Smile.
BoB - Sorry you edidn't make it to MH today I have texted you on the number from Yahoo - hope all is ok.

Karma - Hope today went okay for you all these things are never easy are they?Sad

LOL Nova and Diege , I was very restrained today only bought 2 birthday pressies and some trousers I was getting for MIL ( unlike Twinkle going into a frenzy in Lush!!!Wink)

Looking forward to seeing who gets pg first we should start a sweepstake on it will it be Nova, Twinkle or Beartime? Or someone quite unexpected?! Grin

Hope everyone has great weekends although the weather is supposed to be crap again! We've got 2 parties tomorrow a 4th and 18th birthday will have one very tired and ratty DD by bedtime!Smile xxxx

yorkshirepuddling · 19/05/2006 23:04

Hi All,

Hope everyone is well. Sorry I haven't been on here for ages. Last week we had Hollys christening and since then I've been pretty much house bound as I have been ill since Sunday night, haven't even felt well enough to come online. Hope whoever ventured to Meadowhall enjoyed it, Sorry I couldn' make it, I was really looking forward to it but obviously wasn't up to it. Next time I promise

Well we have started on solids here too - so far we have only tried carrot and Apple - for whoever asked you can freeze - next week we are trying pear and sweet potato - Holly loves Carrot and gets really really exceited, knocking it all flying, but shes not too keen on Apple.

I go back to work in a week so next week is my last week as a SAHM - I'm looking forward to going back to work for the adult conversation but ame really going to miss Holly.

I'll post some photos of the christening on the yahoo site when I get some but didn't get the chance to take any ourselves so we need to see if we can blag any from the rellies.

Not read through the posts only todays but hope everyone is well

Diege · 20/05/2006 08:53

Morning!! Another rainy one today Sad, with DH at a conference in Birmingham too Angry - not work, some cycle campaign thing he's got himself into!! We have school fete this afternoon, and ballet this morning. I will get through it because tonight is THE most important night of the calender, EUROVISION NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We will be having our usual 'party', (notebooks, scoring, strict rules re: perving etc..), but sadly our usual couple who joins in the 'fun' can't make it this year...maybe I was a little strict last year!! Grin.
Well BEKS, if it makes you feel any better, I've had night wakings too (about 2-3 a night) with Scarlett for last 2 nights - not to do (directly) with pox, though no doubt connected to leniancy when she was poorly!! Can;t say I'm amused by demands to pick up a thrown out of the bed teddy at 3 in morning though!! Doesn't sound as bad as your situation though! I actaully felt better last night just thinking that maybe you were up too!! (sorry!!)They say it opasses, but to be honest, we've had this on and off since she was 2 Sad
Well, tried 'oats so simple' breakfast for L today - thought it was rebranded ready brek, but perhaps not?? LOts of chunky oats for her to choke on Blush. Back to baby rice for now I think!!
Hi L&S mum! Glad you had a good meet-up!! lol at John Lewis saga!!! Will def. try and make the next one. Good luck with your 2 parties!! We have play barn ones tommorrow (2-4; 4-6)but have a feeling yours will be a bit more full-on!! (esp 18th!) TWINKLE: yes, will check my calander and sort out some dates for Lowry Grin; we could also think about a visit at weekends as we chatted about with the weather picking up! (she says looking out at rain!).
Well, the toy sweet shop has been brought out, so best go!!!
Diege x
ps: high Yorkie!!! You will be FINE at work..honestly, give yourself a few weeks and it will seem like you've never been away!! Are you back full-time?

BEKsmum · 20/05/2006 09:52

Morning girls

Yorkie hope you are feeling better soon. Good luck with returning to work I'm sure you'll enjoy Holly all the more with some time away. She'll seem even more adorable then Smile

Diege thanks for the sympathy, that's a nightmare for you with Scarlett though. Lol it was dh up last night as payment for being allowed to go paintballing today - hope he gets soaked and shot in the butt & who says I'm bitter about being left with the kids on a saturday after having them all week Grin

Right best go as wriggly snotty baby in my arms and demanding snotty 4 year old wanting the pc - feels like dh hasn't gone out Grin Have a great weekend all Beks

Rodeo · 20/05/2006 10:37

Morning girls :)

Had a meltdown last night at work (think it was probably due to being tired and emotional) and I've quit :( The general gist is that our lovely manager left in Feb and since then the owners haven't taken a new manager on and they've taken management on themselves, but they're awful and haven't got a clue. They leave the place in the afternoon and go to their home about 10 miles away, they never come in in the evening and things always go wrong (beer not ready/ran out/fridges unstocked etc) and we're left to pick up the pieces. Had a full on swearing rant, then started crying (never good because I can't stop!) then got my coat to leave. Ended up staying though as it was busy but that was my last night. Sent in my resignation this morning. Really sad as I used to love it but these last few months have just been too much. Right I'll shut up about it now before it starts me off again.
Had a lovely day at MH though (thank you for the lift L&S! Sorry about the pushchair trauma, I am sooooo disorganised compared to you & Twinkle!) shame you didn't make it Diege. You too Bob, what happened? Hope all is well :)
Thanks for the mary jane tip off Diege! Well done! LOL at your oat so simple disaster!
Hello Beks, Brownie, Chacha, GG, Nova :)
Got my phone back today, yay! I've missed it so much I've been kissing it!
Right we've got a childrens party too this morning, and a playgroup disco tonight and have to fit in a trip to town, sunbed and supermarket today, so ouff to get ready and hunt out some paracetamols (and maybe some Valium)

OP posts:
Rodeo · 20/05/2006 10:43

The plus side is that I earnt 20 quid in tips! Think they all felt a bit sorry for me, should have burst into tears more often. A regular said 'Aw are you upset because you've just noticed my wedding ring?' Grin

Has anyone heard Nelly Furtado's new song Maneater? My current favourite, it's just been on. What is everyone else listening too??

OP posts:
browniechick · 20/05/2006 11:43

Hey All, Rodeo - I am currently listening to the sound of DH vacuuming the cars out, and Thomas breathing (whilst asleep!) on the baby monitor!! Grin Haven't heard the song you mentioned, but will listen out for it now you've mentioned it!

Thomas Had the butternut squash last night and loved it, closely followed by carrot and his usual bottle, actually think I might have said all this already - sorry Blush!! Anyway, we've had lovely orange coloured poo this morning - sorry if tmi, but this weaning lark does produce some multi coloured nappies!!!! Smile
It is very grey and windy here, have got my Mum&Dad, My Nanna and mil coming for dinner tomorrow, hope I am more organised than last time, as they all had to wait for an hour and a half for their dinner!! nothing quite seemed to go according to plan! oops Blush
Am very impressed with kiddicare, had two emails and a text last night, my pushchair is on the way!! should be here Monday - am soo excited! am also having my hair cut Monday (my "regular once or twice a year appointment!! my hairdresser keeps saying, she'll never get rich off've me!!) Will think about what I'm gonna have done over the weekend - probably nothing spectacular! Just a good trim, and maybe a few long layers?!
Yorkie - hope you feel better soon.
Diege - poor you with nightwaking - something I'm not looking forward to as Thomas gets older! They aren't nice now, but imagine it will be worse when they can scream words loudly! Especially "Mummy I waaaaaaant you" and so on - really pulling at the emotional heart-strings!! don't they all just know how to do it!!

B&T

browniechick · 20/05/2006 11:45

Oh, and Rodeo - Sad about you leaving your job that you loved, and Angry at Owner/Managers who left you all to it - thought they had to live in if it is a pub?
Anyway, well done on the £20 tips - kinda makes up for a pants night.

xx

Diege · 20/05/2006 11:52

awww RODEO, that's awful! Sad Has it been bad at work for long, or was this a shock? Bet they'll be ringing you up asking you back; if it was Eastenders or Corrie the locals would be up in arms and bar the place until you were brought back with mega pay Grin; such is real life... Will you be looking for anything else?
BEKS hmmm yes, know what you mean about DHs and their days out; hard to protest withgout sounding really whiney, but I know that it would be major crisis is I decided to go out shopping (for example Grin) with friends for the day!! Will you be aboe to save up this 'credit' for a day to yourself soon?
Well nail lady here soon, then prospect of muddy field with screaming kids/pelting down rain this afternoon Sad. Arghhh stop moaning woman!!!!

Diege · 20/05/2006 12:04

Lol BROWNIE at weaning poos!! I thought your ref to grey and windy referred to T's nappies Grin. Oh and have to say that screams of 'mumeeeeeee!!!' at 3 in the morning do NOT tug at heart strings!!!(not mine anyway Grin!!)

browniechick · 20/05/2006 12:13

No - grey and windy reference was very defintely about the weather - not T's nappies! That is yet to come - hard to think what food might turn it grey though!!?? Grin
Nail Lady - any more gossip likely to head our way then?!
Have just dug out some of the 6 months + toys T had for Christmas, and got them out for him to play with!! Well, he is nearly 6 months! Smile

Have to say, not impressed with the ELC Shape sorter thing - the Sheep sounds like a cow to me!! I thought Sheep said Baaa!? I wil have a confused child at this rate Wink

Have a good day - no muddy wet fields for me this week, that was last weekend with the Brownies!! So don't envy any of you spending this afternoon outside!

B

GarfieldsGirl · 20/05/2006 13:43

Aaaaggghhh! Hello, just started to post, then had to run upstairs to get charger cos its taken me the full 2 1/2hous battery to get on-bloody-line. broadbands going in next week. Yaay!!

Diege - so so sorry, but pmsl at picking up teddy at 3am Blush. I'm glad its not just me. Last night went into Owen 3 times, he was fast asleep every time, the third time he woke meup with 'Mummy, blow my nose', so I just left a tissue on his pillow! Thanks to you and Nova for advice about my friend, eventually got hold of her this mornig. Pregnant brain keeps making her forget her phone, then forget to call back! All is ok Smile
Brownie - know what you mean about 'cliquiness'. I've seen a few threads recently about just that, and watched them with interest. I was lucky and had soem advice about car seats, but I think a lot depends on the time of day that you post. lol at poo coming out same as it went in only smellier! Tried broccoli yesterday, Sean didn't like i tho, bit of a relief as I wasn't looking forward to the green nappy!
Rodeo - Sad for you leaving work, sounds like you really enjoed it before new managers. I've had several similar experiences and have left within a few months of new manager coming in, so can sympathise with you. i don't really listen to the radio, so don't hear much new stuff, am currently stuc in a Girls Aloud rut! i have Sound of the Underground in kitchen, What will the neighbours Say in back room and Chemistry in car! Very sad I know, but i think they're great, I love them, even went to see them last year. There was 9of us who went, all mid-20s! Would like to see them this year, but can't be arsed going t Brighton/Bournemouth.

Tummy grumbling, so gotta get food, am off out tonight, yippee, just been on the phone for about 20mins discussing clothes Grin Gettinng really excited now!!

BEKsmum · 20/05/2006 21:08

Evening girls

Diege if I didn't know you were a GF fan I'd say we've read the same parenting manual or were we seperated at birth or something - I had exactly the same thing with Oat So Simple on Tuesday, thought I'd be clever and gave him the syrupy one, he grimaced, choked, then sneezed the remainder all over me Grin. Didn't like to admit it at the time though Blush
What do they put in cereal that makes it set like concrete on anything it touches - hate to think what it does to your insides Grin

GG have a great night out tonight, where are you off to?

Rodeo what a pain with the job, glad you managed a good nights tips though, hope they come crawling to you by Monday, serves them right, from my experience most landlords wouldn't know a good barmaid if she served them Smile It always made me feel nostalgic when i heard you talking about the pub as that's how i met my dh Grin

Dh is home after a great day out, sounds like he thoroughly enjoyed himself although he is covered in bruises and got shot in the throat, thankfully it seems to have gone across him rather than hit him full on as it is right across his adams apple, needless to say am watching his neck swell with interest at the moment, hopefully won't need Em-Doc in the middle of the night but then again he might if his snoring is worse because of it, as he'll find it difficult to breath through a pillow Grin

Diege won't store up the points will just let him have the kids all day tomorrow while he aches Thomas should be horrendous as he had only one 15-20 minute nap today. I think between them they are all trying to kill me off as between the 3 of them they had me fully awake before 5am - so now off to bed.

Hope those who are Eurovision fans have had a fune evening, can't believe how bad it is ont he telly tonight - yawn Beks

beartime · 20/05/2006 21:42

ChaCha - saw your pics ages ago and thought wow you have more guts than me, putting him in a paddling pool!

Diege - milk def too much faff with bfing - still haven't used the pump I bought! Blush he doesn't seem to mind tho - polished off 6tsps of baby rice with 2 cubes of pear puree for dinner Smile He's not eating much at lunch tho' - probably cos he's still unwell. Now I've got the runny nose Sad

So is there any alternative to jarred food when you're on hols - other than mashed banana and rice cakes every day? Grin

Anyone elses not like carrot? He won't even eat it disguised with 3 cubes of sweet potato! Mind you I've always hated carrots Grin

Brownie - snap on banana flavoured antibiotics onky just cottoned onto the fact that he might be refusing his veg cos I give him that first and its sweet!

Are you s'posed to reheat fruit and veg purees after defrosting them?

Diege - I started giving Caleb Heinz oat cereal for babies (farleys Recipe) which went down well - no bits to choke on :) Ity doesn't meet all of GF's requirements like no sugar etc, but nothing does!

Oh I can't remember who mentioned it, but my bets are on Nova getting pg first since Twinkle and I are both bfing. C'mon Nova give us the updates :) are you using a predictor kit?

yorkshirepuddling · 20/05/2006 21:43

Diege - Yep back full time - Pretty flexible with hours though so working some days (long ones though) and some evenings to fit in around childcare. Get a feeling I won't know whether i'm coming or going.

BEKSmum - I have the saturday problem - DP plays cricket every Saturday - after leaving me mon to Saturday and then has meeting on a Sunday evening some weeks. At the moment we are having a big row over whether he can play cricket next Saturday, Sun and Mon as well as going away thursday and Friday - Told him I'll put a photo of him at the side of Hollys cot. Must say though six days in a row does get hard some weeks.

Rodeo - Sorry to hear about your job. I waslked out on one a few years ago - in a pub - actually told the manager to stick it and got my coat walked out there and then. Similar kind of non management there. And I loved it - I've always loved bar work, in fact i'd left and gone back once because I loved it so much. I had a job in 2 weeks which I'm still in now and never regretted it. I hope it all turns out well for you in the end.

Well i'm off too trawl the telly channels in between boring songs on eurovision - We only watch it for Terry Wogan - Hes so funny.

Rodeo · 20/05/2006 22:39

Evening :)

Just come back from the playgroup family disco, Joe won Most Fantastic Dancer Shock The children have fallen to sleep in about 10 seconds, dp is just out fetching kebabs!
Thanks for all the comiserations, feel ok about it now, putting things into perspective, I will still go in for a few drinks and I wasn't exactly cashing it in! And I now get Fridays to myself!
Yorkshire awww about you putting photo on cot - poor man! Would have been lovely to see you at MH, we'll try and sort another soon :)
GG - Have a good night tonight, what did you wear in the end?! Love Girls Aloud too, who's your fave? Mine's Kimberley! BTW, good news about your friend :)
Beks - Shock at dh getting shot in the throat, presume he was paint-balling and not involved in any gangland crime?! Missed that post! Poor you with the power-naps, Jess's power naps are currently 45 mins which I think is short, a pain when you've got masses of housework (or sleep!) to catch up with. Although good on you for going to bed about 9ish - I always feel like I'm missing something if I get an early night and rarely go to bed before 11, hence the eyebags....
Brownie, with you on multi coloured poos Grin yuk! Which pushchair did you go for in the end?
Diege, any naillady goss?! And the goss on Twinkle is......she's mega-broody, surrounded by loads of little newborns where she lives, has got plenty of room for no4, would like a playmate for Josh, would like 2 girls and 2 boys, like's the name Amy-Grace....hmmm think that's all I got Grin
God I've got that Christening tomorrow, not looking forward to it..... I am such a grumpy cow!
Night :)

Oh Diege I can't decide! Have you got yours yet? I love them both but cannot justify spending 35 pounds on babysocks!! There's some lovely boy's socks too for all shopaholics with baby boys (Brownie/Chacha!) Where's dh's credit card?!

OP posts:
Rodeo · 20/05/2006 23:45

Don't suppose you want to swap one or two pairs if I get the ballet ones Deige?! Don't worry if not - just tell me to get a life!!! I'm on my own tonight now, can you tell?! Dp has gone to watch the boxing at his bro's. How's Eurovision?

Hi ladies,

I'm unexpectedly in the other end of europe at the moment.
We have a family crisis (dp's side) on our hands, and selfishly, I'm really resenting that we only had a few hours to pack so now i'm trying to buy baby wipes , nappies, bras, jeans etc when i can't even read the packaging.

Whats annoying me more is the censoring over here..theres no international t.v.....no newspapers with worldwide news......most websites you cannot access at all..I tried to get onto mumsnet last night and couldn't..d.p translated it word for word as 'not good content' . pah.
and this country is vying for e.u membership..it's so sad..everyone here wants it but the government and such are very much stuck in their communist times.

We'll hopefully be flying back soon ..if any of you have my email or msn, i'd love some reassuring chat..
I feel very much lost here, d.p is trying his best to help, but in another world right now, , but normal life is still happening for me, just in a strange environment..i.e o is teething..needs bum cream etc..but it's hard to buy the lotions and potions..
Ideally i'd go home, but we need to be here for d.p.
sorry for a rant and sorry I haven't read through.
hope you are all well.

babyonboard · 21/05/2006 01:23

and to make me feel even worse there's massive 'eurovision' parties going on in all the bars around our hotel..they are playing all the songs really loudly on repeat! argh!
O was just crying..i want to cry..
we have interent very intermittently on d.ps laptop, so forgive me if i can't post for a while...

babyonboard · 21/05/2006 01:31

sorry..me again..
any advice on what o can eat? i know this has been a hot topic for us lately but now i'm thrown in at the deep end..
i got some hipp organic jars at the airport..which arent great, but what when we run out?
the fruit and veg seem good at the market and we can use blenders etc at dps families houses but i'm unsure..
