Evening, just lost a monster post Angry (Laptop not plugged in properly and switched itself off argh!!)sympathies with Tessa I know it happened to you the other night!! Will quickly attempt a re-hash...I'm going to do it mega quick so excuse any errors!!
L&S, not got phone bach yet after it was lost/stolen but will get your no and text you from dp's phone later. 11.30 JL sounds fine, but I'll bew with you anyway :) Looking forward to it!!
Brownie, hope you and T are feeling better v. soon! You too BoB, cystitis is awful (see you Fri!)
Diege - How is little S? Have J & L manage to escape the spots? J is having meat, chicken and fish now, last night she had salmon, rice & brocoli, but her poos have been absolutely foul & disgusting today! Sorry to lower the tone! I usually save a bowl of veg & meat from Sunday din and whizz it up and freeze it for some nights in the week (sounding a bit 'holier than thou' now so feel I ought to say I do alternate with jars!)
Nova, nice surprise to have dh back early :) your last few days sound v. nice (makes me want to move!) We're on follow-on milk too, read somewhere it's more concentrated in vits and minerals because they're drinking less milk now they're on solids? (May have read it on the back of the follow on milk box though Blush)
Lil - Well done with sorting your nursery place, Have a wonderful holiday! Can't remember where you're heading but do remember it's a tropical hol! Was it the Maldives? Mauritius?
Chacha - well, if that's not a 'look at bmy boy and tell my how gorge he is!' I don't know what is Grin He is beautiful and gwowing so fast! And I can't believe he's enjoying being dunked in the cold water - what a tough guy! (Although it was v.hot weather - where has it gone??!!)
Think that was the gist of my original post, sorry if I've left huge chunks out - it was rather long - but that's what you get for being away 2 days!
Oh, my gran has today been admitted to hosp, a good thing as my grandad, mum, uncle & aunt are knackered. She has suspected cancer of the ovary, but it might be bowel (think bowel is less aggressive so fingers crossed) but she's having a proper scan tomorrow and we'll know then
Oh and we got a new car - hurray! Dp loves it and I'm just glad to have a set of wheels again! x x x
Quick! Post! Post!

ChaCha · 17/05/2006 22:52

Oh Rodeo - There's no pulling the wool over your eyes! Wink Keeps you on your toes, next time I post a pic, you'll know what to do LOL :o Keep us posted on Gran's update.

I just watched Pretty in Pink. Anyone remember it? Looks like another miserable day tomorrow, what happened to the sunshine? :(

Busyalexsmummy · 17/05/2006 23:11

GG-the 1st class si is a good car seat, we have that one for alex and will be getting anougher for alfie in the next few months.
I could put alex in a booster thing now but i hate seeing kids asleep with their heads hanging forward, it cant be safe!

Busyalexsmummy · 17/05/2006 23:16

btw, chacha, see how you get on with the matrix upright, i didnt like it it didnt look safe and was far too upright-i think because of the size of it you have to have a car with long seat belts otherwise they end up kissing the back seat!

Hello to all who know me. Chacha and Enthusia thank you for hunting me down and leaving your lovely messages.

I am 37 weeks today Shock can't believe i have made it this far, about time too!! I am loving pregnancy, getting uncomfortable now, but have stopped working for a couple of months so i am now going at a slower pace. The pregnancy has been trouble free, lets hope the labour and delivery is just the same. I am very excited and impatient, i can't wait to meet my little one.

I can't believe your babies are six months already, where on earth has that time gone!!!
Hope you're all doing well, and thank you so much for not forgetting me.

Busyalexsmummy · 18/05/2006 14:51

Grin wow! that time has flown by! not long now! I bet your really excited!Grin well done and I hope all goes smoothly with the labour+delivery, let us know how it goes wont you

Hi all.

Just scanned back to last Sunday's posts & I want to thank you all for your kind thoughts. I had a little cry.

I was so glad that I was with him when he died. I'd left Ella with my SIL & dashed up to the hospital on the Sunday morning to see him before I returned home. I'd only been there 10 mins & I cleaned his mouth & started combing his hair when he died suddenly. I'm so glad he didn't linger for much longer. I felt guilty that I was there instead of his wife but she said she was glad I was there.

I was supposed to be at work today but I really didn't feel up to it so I took the day off. Been cleaning to take my mind of it. Things have to be really bad before I resort to getting the duster out!! The funeral is tomorrow afternoon so just need to get that out of the way. My Mum died of the same thing at the same age so I'm going to be thinking about her tomorrow too.

On a more positive note, Ella is just great. She is eating 3 meals a day & can roll over. She smiles & giggles lots & I love her to bits.

Hope everyone else is well. Sorry I haven't read your posts. Will get back to mn soon. X

browniechick · 18/05/2006 15:46

Karma - just don't you think about us, or MN. You have far more important matters to focus on. You leave the thinking to us, and rest assured that we will be thinking of you all.
Much love and hugs to you and your family. I truly hope tomorrow goes ok, and that when you look at your little ones, you will at least be smiling inside, if an ouside smile is too difficult to manage (and who would blame you).
Be strong.
Love, hugs, thoughts and sparkly goodluck fairy dust that you have a better rest of the year.

Brownie & Thomas

Just a quickie (pre-bedtime chaos) to say Karma, love to you and your family, we'll be thinking of you tomorrow, hope everything goes smoothly

Twinkle, great stuff, see you tomorrow :) Bob, forgot to say my number wasn't working because I cancelled my SIM when my phone went missing presumed stolen last week, should be back on at the weekend - see you tomorrow too!

Diddle, good to hear from you, how exciting! Keep us updated!!

Must dash..... oh, has anyone got one of those Taggies? Just ordered one for J

OP posts:
ChaCha · 18/05/2006 18:13

Karma - Big Hugs and Thinking of you too.

We have both been asleep for 4 hours. Not sure what has happened to us but was a first and am feeling good for it.

We did the sweet potato today :)

Diddle, thanks for the update. Will be in touch x

novadandypowder · 18/05/2006 18:37

Rodeo - we have a taggies book and she loves playing with the taggies.

Karma - love and strength for tomorrow x

My dilemma:
We have to leave for the airport at 4.30/5 am when we go on holiday. I'm going to try and get Nat from cot into the car seat, inthe hope she will stay/go back to sleep. However, her nappy is going to be pretty bulging and wet so would you just risk waking her up for good to change it, or wait until you were at the airport?

Rodeo · 18/05/2006 20:48

Nova - I'd leave it, she may wake up in transit but at least you tried to let her have as much night-time sleep as poss. J went on the morning school run when she was a newborn many a time in her pyjama's and wet nappy - much more organised now of course (well, sort of!) I also have a similar problem next week, we have to leave for the airport around 4, so I'm thinking of putting Bella to bed in her travelling clothes and keeping toothbrush and hairbrush handy, I'm getting quite excited about it now, how about you? When are you going?
And good-o about the taggies, J likes fiddling with her fingers so hope she will enjoy it too :) My curent selection of baby toys is pretty dire, more often than not I'll hand her an action man or a ninja turtle - not that suitable are they!
Hasn't it been quiet today? Where's Diege?!

OP posts:
GarfieldsGirl · 19/05/2006 07:33

Hiya girls! Smile Very quiet yesterday!

Karma - Sending my thoughts your way for today.
Nova - I'd try and leave her, better a bulging nappy than an irritable baby I say.

Rodeo - Where are you all off to?
BAM - Thanks also for the advice re car seats. Foun out tho on Britax website that only their stage 0 seats fit in our car. We have the same prob with a couple of other makes, so I'm probably going to start a hread in the hope someones got the same car as me.

Need your thoughts on what I should do. While I was pg one of my friends had a m/c at about 10 wks. She is now pg again, about 9/10 wks. I was up her way yesterday and thought I'd pop in on her, but she didn't answer her phone. She hasn't rung or tezxt back which is so unlike her, she always replies within about 1/2 hour. Checked my phone this morning and still nothing. Don't know whetehr I should leave it, or check if she's ok. I dn't want to be phoning her being like 'whats wrong' etc and getting her panicky if you get what I mean, but I don't want to ignore it and seem insensitive, but i also think that if I'm 'normal' then that may be insensitive for not checking. I'm sure I'm making this more complicated than it is, but any help would be appreciated. Smile

Diege · 19/05/2006 10:02

Morning everyone Smile. KARMA: will be thinking of you on this sad day; lots of strength to you.
RODEO/TWINKLE/BOB/L&SMUM, have a great time at your meet-up today! Very Envy, but can't be helped. DD should be back at nursery on Monday (can't wait!! Blush).RODEO: lol at 'unsuitable toys'; L gets the whole range, and always gets a wild look in her eyes when passed the Barbie Grin - think it's the prospect of having a good chomp on its hair - urghh!! Oh while I remember, ordered some of those too cute baby socks (remember Londoner's Elizabeth had them on, the ones that look like mary jane shoes??) - know you liked them too RODEO, and found them in Letterbox catalogue Grin. Just had an excellent credit card session at Figleaves.co.uk - gorg bikini and some nightwear (yes, I know...)
GG: I think I would def. try and contact ypour friend - I'd keep on trying until I get somewhere, and then if need be 'step away' for a bit if it's not good news and she wants to be by herself. Think it only shows what good friend you are if you keep on trying to get in touch;not insensitive, just caring. Good luck Smile.
Speak later!
Diege
PS: I want all the goss about TWINKLE and no.4 please!!!No excuses!!!!

novadandypowder · 19/05/2006 13:36

GG - I'd definitly try your friend again - maybe she was having a busy day and it slipped her mind to call you back (remember that pregnancy brain!). It's probably nothing sinister, but at least she knows you care.

LoL - my card got blocked for suspicious activity yesterday - too much shopping and ordering over the internet Grin

ChaCha · 19/05/2006 14:38

Hello Girls,

Just checking in. Diege - you're always shopping! :o Tis not fair. I bought a pretty Kaftan for lounging in, arrived yesterday. Something for myself for a change!

Someone mentioned follow-on milk. My delivery just arrived. I am going to try his follow on milk next week.

Having nightmare AF again so off to lie down. See you all later x

Diege · 19/05/2006 14:44

Afternoon!! LOL NOVA! A girl after my own heart Grin; hope you got it sorted out and are happily shopping again. Hi CHACHA!! Hope AF isn't too bad. Have a picture of you in my head reclining on sofa with your kaftan on - it's white with silvery embroidery in my picture Grin!!

browniechick · 19/05/2006 15:16

Hi All, well I'm off work again - feel a bit better today, but thought it best to take the extra day off to make sure I'm 100%, rather than go back too early and set myself back.
Thomas is doing much better - have heard a couple of people say that a baby doesn't really recover fully from croup until they have their first course of antibiotics - not sure how true that is, but he hasn't really been right since the croup episode, so fingers crossed the flourescent antibiotics get shot of everything!!
We haven't started follow on milk yet - although he isn't 6 months till next week! Do you think its worth it?? He seems happy with SMA Gold and the different purees he's having at the moment. Took opportunity to do mammoth puree session this afternoon (T has gone to nurser so day to myself to rest and recover!). Have peeled, chopped, steamed and pureed Sweet potato, butternut squash (that's a bugger to peel!!) broccoli and apple!! Am feeling very holier than thou!!!! Smile
Have ordered the lightwieght stroller (cosatto wiz) from kiddicare - am very upset - noone posted on my thread that I started over in products asking for any experiences with it Sad Having skimmed through lots of other threads about various topics, adding opinion where I can, I am noticing that it is often the same people that post, particularly on the chat threads. I know this is a bit playgroundish - but they seem to have formed a cliquey type thing - perhaps being v.v.v. oversensitive (what with noone posting on my thread!) but we are definitely the nicest loveliest bunch of people on here, and that's official!!

P.s. Did write a mega post earlier, but computer was struggling to hook up to MN server, and I lost the beggar!!!! Buggery Arse and whatsits!!!!

Oh well, hope all are well, and for what its worth GG, I would keep trying your friend, as others have said. Also, her phone may be playing up.
B&T

Diege · 19/05/2006 15:51

Hi BROWNIE!!! Sounds like your health is improving, and hopefully Thomas's too when the antibiotics kick in!! LOL about butternut squash. I glanced at one in Somerfield's this morning, but as you say the thought of peeling the damn thing had me reaching for the carrot and pea organic jars instead!! There again, I even think swweet pots are a pain to peel; if they could only do ready peeled veg they'd be onto a winner!
Know what you mean about topic threads; thought this was the case when I posted in health stream a while ago! Have to say they are a nice bunch in 'classified' though, - there I go, shopping again!!! Oh and re: follow-on milks, the manufacturers say it complements solids better, but tbh, health professionals say if your baby is happy on formula, then there's no reason to change SmileWe have, but only because L doesn;t drink an awful lot of milk, and I think the vits are more concentrated so they don;t need to take as much iyswim!!
Right, essays marked, now time to get the hoover out (dd2 having upstairs nap, yess!!!!)

ChaCha · 19/05/2006 16:32

Speaking of hoovers Diege - the LO didn't cry when I put mine on today, this is a major achievement. I had to keep looking at him with the reassuring eyebrows and smile but he was fine! No more grubby rugs thank goodness.
LOL at Kaftan lounging. It's nice and comfy for a day like today.

Brownie - Hope that you'll both be back to yourselves by end of weekend. Can we freeze the apple puree by the way? I've got some in the blender container and don't know if I can freeze it or not, will need to be quick!
Butternut squash, swede, sweet potato are usual ingredients for Tagines so we will be eating a lot of those as well as cooked dinners till we're onto bigger foods.

Right, MIL & FIL on way, must shake a leg.

p.s I haven't seen GO or JJ post in a long time, not since Londoner left I think. LilJ - you met up I think, both okay?
Wanted to know if GO had gone back to work and how the twins are.

browniechick · 19/05/2006 17:54

Hey Chacha - what's Tagines?? Am I being thick?
Was totally flummoxed by the Butternut Squash - assumed you could eat all the fleshy part, spent ages peeling and chopping thinking where on earth are these seeds that Annabel Karmel is going on about?! Then found them when I cut the bulbous bit at the bottom in half!!!! Grin Frankly, I had got fed up of peeling and chopping it by then! Blush Not so sure we will be having B-S again, not sure it's worth the effort!! Although Thomas has devoured it, and some carrot too, oh and thenhis 8oz bottle of milk!! That's my boy!!!!! Can't wait for next week when he hits the 6 month mark and he can have more or less anything! Not usre what I am gonna do about the follow on milk - will think about it and decide another day Smile
Thanks for all your wishes for me and Thomas, much appreciated.
Chacha - I've frozen all of the purees I've made so far. Have made some apple today, and was fully intending freezing it to be honest.

Hope everyone else is ok.

xx
