really sorry for ranting here again...at the m0oment the laptop seems like a friend....i cannot sleep..d.p is the other side of a country i don't know at all ..i can't sleep as the pollution and heat is so oppresive (though O is happily dozing..the little star...)
i've just ben pacing the room and balcony but it's just all too much.
we don't have a strict routine at home, but it's still a routine, I just feel really out of my depth, which is something I loved before when travelling, but now, with O, i just can't handle the uncertainty.
i'm worried that in the morning i can't even go get a coffee (everyone knows english here but don't like to speak it..)
or if we run out of milk..and d.p isn't around..
silly thing is, had this been planned I'd be posting what a great time we're having..but then we'd have arrived with stacks of luggage adn everything we need..lol

okay..i'm going to really try to sleep now..
hope you had the patience to read my rants..lol

BOB!!! Sorry if this sounds ignorant, but where the hell are you!!! Would be exciting if it weren't for how miserable you're feeling - was there no chance you could have stayed in London with O? Do you know how long you'll be there? Gosh, not really sure what to suggest it other than talk it through with DH and get some practical advice re: baby foods etc asap!!!
RODEO...O....M....G!!!!! Those socks are just to die for!!!!! Having a panic now that my Letterbox ones are the 'brights', as opposed to pastel. Will have to check it out, and possibly cancel and re-order. Would def. swap a few pairs for ballerina style ones...and then there's the US ones !!!! ARghhh!!! what have you done to me woman!!! Sounds like a fun night last night Grin, and good luck with the christening today. K now what you mean, these thungs seem great when they're weeks away, but loads of effort etc when the day comes. Bet you'll have a good time though when looking back through wine-tinted glasses!! Smile. EXCELLENT TWINKLE goss report btw [GRIN]. Sounds like she's just waiting for BFP now Grin!!!(yes, I remember my abbreviations from ttc) - have to admit to lurking on ttc threads; just a fascination, not anything more you understand!!
BEAR: yes, def. reheat after defrosting (have you tried cold veg??Wink)
Hope you had a better night last night BEKS, and have a good one today. Like your style re: DH yes, make sure he doesn't slack today Grin.
YORKIE: Pheww, I know what my response would be to request for extra cricket!!! Seriously though, think everyone has to rethink time spent doing hobbies etc once babies come along, just because it can really cause resentment when one person takes the p**s!! Obviously different people have different views on this, but situations like this can build up and cause serious rows (I've been there Grin)!!!
Right, stray cat has just come in through cat flap!!Arghhh!!

Diege · 21/05/2006 09:06

Seen him off!!!
RODEO: sock update!! Yes, they are the pastels!!! Buoyed up by my success, and think I will order cupcake shoes and cupcake t-shirt to celebrate!!! Heee!!!

twinkle1 · 21/05/2006 11:44

novadandypowder · 21/05/2006 17:07

OMG! OMG! OMG! - sock meltdown - I MUST HAVE SOME - NO I MUST HAVE ALL OF THEM!!!!!!

browniechick · 21/05/2006 18:56

Hello you lot! Rodeo - those socks look fabbo think T might get a few odd looks in them tho!!!Grin.
I went for the Cosatto Wizz in the end, cos there was a mega deal on them on Kiddicare - £89.99 instead of £170 - so I thought it was worth it. They had a deal on the quinny zapp too (£122.95 I think) which DH likes, but I was not sure about the non-reclining seat - so decided against it.
Thomas had Brocoli tonight, mixed with Sweet potato - always try him with a bit of the new food on its own first, then mix it with the other one. Once I take the spoon away to add the other ingredient, he absolutely screams blue murder till he gets the spoon and food back!!! Think he is gonna love it from next week when a whole new world of lovely foods opens up to him, like little bits of bread, and dairylea, and petit filous, and meat and so on!

BoB - oh honey, you sound so low, not sure I've got your email, apart from the yahoo one. Will that one be ok to contact you on? Assume you are somehwere in the East of Europe, think your DP is polish isn't he? Or at least East European (gosh my geography is pants!!). Chin up chick, you'll hopefully be home soon. If you get chance to post again, put your email on yahoo - then we can contact you better.

Bear - I have been giving T his antibiotics seperate to his feed, not leat because when my Mum gave him some with his lunchtime bottle, he threw loads back up! So he has been having the morning dose before his Brekkie bottle (about half an hour or more before), then the same at lunch time, thenhe has his last dose AFTER his tea (veg then bottle, then medicine) this is what has worked for us anyway. He has got the last drop of medicine left for tomorrow, then it's all gone. Think they gave him a 5 day course, but there is a drop left, so am gonna give him that tomorrow for extra measure.

Still haven't decided about what to have done when the hairdresser comes tomorrow!! Shock she won't be surprised, as I have never usually made my mind up!Blush

Has anyone bought one of those UV protection shelter / beach tent thingies? I am looking to get one for our holiday in August - I know it's only Wales, but you never know!! and we can use it in the garden, and I am looking at getting the slightly larger one that will fit 2 adults in it (ok, anyone convinced yet!!!!!? Grin)

B&T

browniechick · 21/05/2006 18:57

oops mega post - sorry!!
Also forgot to add, T had a bath with DH last night, in the big bath!! He loved it, so much more water to splash around in!!!!!! His face was a picture! (Thomas, not dh!!!)

Brownie

novadandypowder · 21/05/2006 20:02

Brownie - we have a pop-up UV sun thingy that can fit adults in it aswell. Our garden gets no shade so thought it for the best. It folds up really small and is really easy to put up, however the first attempt at trying to fold it back up again was a 'you've been framed' moment.

In the process of getting some of those socks from ebay, DH not going back to states for a while (typical!)

Rodeo · 21/05/2006 20:34

Ooooooooooooooooh Which socks are you going for Nova?! Any bargains on ebay? Going to pinch dp's credit card and get the ballerina ones later (sooo glad your up for swap Diege!) Right, socks aside.....

Hi Brownie, yes the non reclining seat can be a pain, but J isn't it it for that long (apart from MN daytrips to Meadowhall & London!) Where are you going in Wales? We're going to Tenby in August - Aug 18th I think?

Yes Bob, where the hell are you?! (Bulgaria is my guess for some reason!) Hope you're ok, are you alright for babymilk? As long as your ok for that you should be ok for O, you could manage with mashed bananas and yoghurt, or cooked pureed veg, that would be fine. Good luck, try to enjoy it and not to get down about it, just imagine the stories you can tell O when he's older :)

Christening went ok, although Joe was overtired and irritable after the disco last night, and it didn't help with the sermon the vicar did before the service 'If your child is fractious and noisy please do the right thing and take them out' How about pss off! Dp enjoyed his godfather role though. Oh and* their baby had chicken pox! I thought the spots were old but mum said she's only just got them last night! So if J get chicken pox in 10 days time, I'll know where she's got them!! ANy more signs from Jasmine or Libs yet Diege?

OP posts:
Rodeo · 21/05/2006 21:03

Right, have just ordered the ballerina socks, phew! I'll let you know when they arrive Diege (haha, just typed Didge then!) so you can let me know which 2 pairs to swap!

Have a dilemma here, took Jess up to bed while we were having our Sunday dinner as she was being a pest and we needed 10 mins Blush (god, that sounds awful) but now she's flaked out in her clothes and nappy, not had a bath or bfeed, but it looks like she's off for the night, poor thing, I feel so guilty! Think I'll undress her down to vest, change her nappy, put sleepsuit on and give her a quick feed. This is probably for my benefit though, just to tell myself I'm not neglecting her! Better do it quick before 24 comes on (still watching it Nova?)

OP posts:
browniechick · 21/05/2006 21:38

Hi, Nova - is yours a SunShelta (Australian I think) UV Protector? Like \link{http://www.thatcuteage.com/4-OutAbout/c72p1-UVProtectionBeachwear/p705-UVProtectorTent\this}one?
Rodeo - about 4 miles south of Caernafon (sp?) for a week from the 19th August. We did look at going near Tenby, but the Cottage DH was looking at was Adults only, no children!!! Not sure what he thought we'd do with Thomas!!??
Anyone just watched Dance Fever? I'm sorry but I think that Ben chap (the contestant not the judge) is a bit up himself (not literally obviously!!). Glad he was in the bottom 2, perhaps it will give him the wake up call he needs?

B

Diege · 21/05/2006 22:28

Evening! EXCELLENT RODEO on the sock front Grin. We should go into business!! My socks from Letterbox should arrive in the next few days; now of course we have dilemma of which colours to swop! Should we swop same colours so we end up with same colour but different design? (iyswim!!!)BTW, MUST ask, when you said you and DH needed 10 mins I (with my filthy mind) thought you meant you know what Blush Grin; was I right, Was I???? Can;t believe your vicar at christening Shock!!!! How Christian-minded!!! It's like our pub at end of road- used to welcome kids, now (new management) has a sign saying 'we welcome well-behaved children' Shock; strangely enough, I've never seen a child there Grin.
BROWNIE: I think long-layers would look really nice with your hair...I'm thinking some honey/butterscotch/vanilla highlights too??? Some slices perhaps??? Grin; just ignore me, I get carried away with hair talk!!
NOVA: had a sneaky e-bay look and could only see US socks? Can we bid overseas?? Ended up buying a pair of cute gap shoes for 99p while looking, so thanks!! Grin
Right, whacked so time to get bag ready for work tommorrow Sad.
Night!
Diege
PS: someone called me 'diego' on other stream (classifieds...again Blush; quite like that one!! Grin

browniechick · 21/05/2006 22:32

Thanks for hari comments Diege - What on earth are "Slices" when they're at home? Not planning any highlights at this point, but may do for next appointment, to lighten for Summer (if it comes back!)
Think will go long layers......oh who knows, will decide when she's here tomorrow!

Nighty Night All
x

Rodeo · 21/05/2006 22:39

LOL Diege, oops see how it could have come across that way but no! Dp wishes! We were having Sunday dinner, I'd just given her hers plus milk but she still wasn't happy and I was starving, so she got popped to bed for 10 mins, but that 10 mins turned into all night, but at least shes now in her pyjamas. Same colour swap sounds great, think mine come in black, pink, green, yellow, lilac and blue?? I have a letter for Scarlett to send too tomorrow. Jasmines will follow shortly, may get Bel to do something before school so they get them together :)

OP posts:
Diege · 21/05/2006 22:46

Yeah right...Wink
Mine are same colours as yoursSmile, so should be pretty easy to sort out! Great on the letters front!!
BROWNIE: lol! 'slices', sort of chunky free-hand highlights, usually applied subtely under parting so you get 'flashes' of colour Grin

Rodeo · 21/05/2006 22:51

Grin Honest!

Ok, so I'll choose one colour you choose the other?! I've never been excited about babysocks before!!

OP posts:
beartime · 21/05/2006 22:56

Diege - that might explain why Caleb hasn't been liking his veggies - they're cold! It said in the what to expect book that its better to do it luke warm cos babies don't care and it means its OK when you go out. But I agree - they DEFINITELY taste better warm! But let me get this straight - I defrost the cubes in one pot, then I transfer cubes to saucepan to cook since apparently microwaving gets rid of all antioxidants according to AK (?) then I transfer into a different pot to eat since the original one might have bacteria in since it wasn't heated - which results in two pots, one saucepan, one wooden spoon, one feeding spoon and one normal spoon being dirty - no wonder I'm having to run the dishwasher twice a day!! Can anyone help me out here Blush I'm sure there's an easier way... isn't there?

BoB - poor you. I'm going to be in the saem dilemma with food soon as travelling a lot in the summer. Tjo' hopefully planned!

I really don't see what all the fuss is about with the socks Grin - they're only going to suck them off their feet anyway aren't they?! Mind you, socks that stayed on would be nice...

Twink;e did you read my long post to you about fertility and bfing from the other day? I can re-post it if you missed it?

Brownie - that's a good idea abt giving the meds - a lot of his clothes have luminous stains on now from where he sicked it up!

Rodeo - I can never get Caleb to stay quiet in a service even when he's happy - he is so noisy! So I always end up taking him out and listening to service in baby monitor!

Diege · 21/05/2006 22:59

LOL!! (Made DH read your comments and even he said 'ahhh, they're trying for a baby then' Grin!!
Right, down to business (ahem!) Could I bagsy pale blue ballet shoes for pale blue mary janes?? Over to you!!

beartime · 21/05/2006 23:02

Rodeo - your story about Jess reminds me of when I was in America and we'd just flew from texas to California and were wiped out and I put Caleb in carseat on floor cos he was being grumpy and lay down on the bed and the next thing I knew I woke up and it was 2am and I hadn't got the travelcot set up, Caleb was fast asleep in the carseat with no nappy change and DH was snoring next to me! So after getting cold sweats I realised it's not going to kill him sleeping one night in the car seat, so I changed into my nightclothes and got in bed and went to sleep again!

Diege · 21/05/2006 23:02

Hi BEAR!!! I stick my frozen pots (when I do them - usually make 2 -day batch and keep in fridge)in basin of boiled water, then heat up in microwave - don't think much is lost in way of vits when zapping for 20 seconds Smile. LOL at your sock comments!! It's 'style' daaahling!!! Grin. Wait till you have a girl!

beartime · 21/05/2006 23:03

We got a sunshelter for when I was pregnant but I didn't like it much because you can't feel the wind in there so the coolness factor has gone which means its like a sauna inside!

Rodeo · 21/05/2006 23:05

Yep, blue's good, I'd say I like pink & black the best, green's the worst, so lilac or yellow? Either!!

OP posts:
beartime · 21/05/2006 23:09

hmmmm... so you don't defrost overnight then I take it. I do defrost overnight - which I guess doesn't make much difference so could still zap for 20 secs. I guess reheating in the microwave might be different from cooking them in the microwave with regard to vitamins etc. then? Oooh that would be nice Grin 2-day batch sounds much more sensible - i've got so many ice cubes and then I read GF and she said next week its onto protein meals and no more single veggies - so i thought aaargh what do I do with all my tenderly prepared icecubes!!! ButCaleb isn't really used to the veggies yet anyway cos he didn't eat much when he was ill (and probably cos they were cold!) so he's only really got used to sweet potato and swede Blush so I figured I'll go with the early weeks of GF for a bit longer b4 progressing onto protein. And use up my icecubes Grin Does it matter how long it is b4 you introduce protein?

Rodeo · 21/05/2006 23:10

You're right Bear, she was fine! Her nappy was only slightly damp! And I defrost (on low) and heat cubes(quick high blast, like Diege) in one pot in the microwave

Bear there's lots of boy socks on the website too Wink

OP posts:
beartime · 21/05/2006 23:10

I guess socks are more in view with girls if they are wearing skirts. And actually I do appreciate they might be an issue after seeing some baby girls in pink tights (ugh) sorry not intending to offend anyone with pink tights Grin
