Hello.

Preparing for another night of growth spurt unsettledness. Wee P does a weird thing though where she acts frantic hungry the. Refuses the bottle when it is offered. If you do get an open mouth she grimaces and gags. Any ideas?

GTbaby · 27/11/2012 22:08

Sorting LO clothes. Putting new born away :(

PetiteRaleuse · 27/11/2012 22:15

Late night feedathon going on here again. Hope everyone gets ok nights with lots of sleep.

PetiteRaleuse · 27/11/2012 22:24

GT i've been putting the newborn clothes away too :(

TheDetective · 27/11/2012 22:25

So far every visitor that has been has been witness to my tits wapped out with no notice or ceremony Grin. I give not one teeny weeny little shit Grin.

This evening we have had MIL and 5 year old nephew for tea. Oscar started crying just as tea was served. Everyone just looked at me, as if to say, what you gonna do now? I just sat at the table, got the boob out, put him straight on, and ate my tea Grin.

He's lay in my arms now, just been fed again, and I'm waiting for him to be in a deep enough sleep to be put in the moses basket. If I put him straight down after a feed he wakes up again and comfort feeds. Takes about 30 mins for me to be able to put him down with out him waking.

Have expressed 100mls tonight. My right boob went massive, hard, lumpy and I was like oh shit... got the pump on, and now its back to normal. I did try and get him to feed first, but he wasn't interested for the first time ever. Plus he'd fed on that side about 2 hours previous! Suspect he hadn't completely finished the breast!

Lavender bath is ready and waiting for me when Oscar lets me go! Damn I love the little critter Grin.

Alamaya · 27/11/2012 22:31

well my boy is 4 weeks old on sunday and what a nightmare we have had. Born at 6lb 13oz. Weighed at 5 days was 6lb 6oz not too worrying. At 12 days HV weighed him at 5lb 13oz. I also mentioned he had been having weird twitches and it was freaking me out. At that point we were sent to hospital for food monitoring as twitches were not concerning HV but because of the unplanned homebirth and him never checked over by doc thought we better. Well when we got there i showed a vid of these twitches to consultant who tells me they are seizures!. We then spend the next 5 days having food monitoring, lumbar punctures, blood tests, mri. To find out our little boy has two bleeds on the brain. Both suspected due to traumatic birth. They gave him some anti fitting meds and touch wood this friday will be 2 weeks since they gave this one dose and hes not fitted since. In hospital they weighed him after eventually tube feeding him and it was 6lb 6oz again. Then midwife came out sunday about 5 days after discharge and he was down to 6lb 4oz. We have been given another weigh appointment for tomorrow. Where if hes lost again or not gaining well we are being readmitted. Hes still in tiny baby clothes which drown him. He looks premature :(

horseylady · 27/11/2012 22:46

Mmmm detective perhaps you can advise?! I had an episiotomy which was about 6 inches long (from cervix to anus) it's been fine, healed well etc. Until the last 5 days when it's really hurt to poo and I bleed. Quite a lot. Is it the episiotomy or could it be a pile? I also get cramps down there? I now dread going. Was going to start on lactulose to help?!

I'm guessing you'll say go to the dr but it's been quite a nice three weeks not getting my bits out!!

PetiteRaleuse · 27/11/2012 22:49

Alamaya how frightening for you. I hope your LO is better soon

TheDetective · 27/11/2012 23:03

Was it a 3rd degree tear Horsey?

If it has been fine til now I would try and have a look and see if you can spot a pile? If you can, get some over the counter cream and give that a try plus the lactulose to soften things up. Have you been constipated at all in last week or so? Going regularly for your own normal pattern?

Id say it's less likely to be the cut this far down the line but it isn't impossible. I'd try and rule out the piles first and see if it helps given a day or 2?

Sophiathesnowfairy · 27/11/2012 23:33

almaya that all sounds really stressful I hope thinks pick up.

I can not believe, detective you are already whipping them out in Morrisons with a third degree tear going on! I had a third degree tear (episiotomy) after DS 1 it was a few weeks before I stopped struggling to sit down, stand up, anything really. I still felt like I had the label in a long time after.

NEWS FLASH......... 10pm feed in the Fairy house and no sick.

Yet. Grin

TheDetective · 28/11/2012 00:10

Oh, it isn't a 3rd degree thank fuck just a whopping great big epis - the bastards! Considering he came out very easily with 2 pulls (head and body came with 2nd pull!) and I had asked NOT to have one, and tear instead... it makes me more irritable! The tear comes right down my bum cheek :(

It is sore, sitting, walking, all sore. Makes no sodding difference! The only thing that helps is standing. I can't stay stood up forever!

I've had a lavender bath, not sure it has helped down there, but OMG I just chilled like a cucumber in there! So much so, I've made DP go and have one. It was lovely! I'm not a massive bath person, mainly because it never covers enough flab, but with my gaffa taped plug hole, and lavender oil, it was bliss! And 2 big flannels to cover the boobies Grin.

I've now got the maternity pads in the fridge, and the breast pads! I'm going to try the witch hazel thing tomorrow. Got some lavender drops on my pad at the moment.

I'll try anything right now!

Oh, and to add insult to injury, I know I have swollen feet, but seriously, none of my shoes would go anywhere near! I ended up going out in flip flops. It is nearly December, for fucks sake!

In other news, my Dad is in the dog house. Rude bastard. I text him Oscars name, and the reply I got was 'R u serious?'. Fuck you Dad. Hmm Evil hormones!

Oh, and DP's aunt has a dog called Oscar, and has commented on my facebook saying how there are 2 Oscar T now. Without saying it is her dog. So now my colleagues and friends probably think I've called the baby the same name as someone in DP's immediate family... Confused.

Hmpf.

TheDetective · 28/11/2012 00:14

Ooooh, if you want to laugh at my misfortune... My ever so charming DP came perving on me in the shower today. Picture my 4 day old postnatal ravaged body, leaky tits, saggy tum, generally, a destroyed version of me... And do you know what DP said. Oh gosh your roots are really long, you need them doing don't you. Hmm.

I didn't know whether to laugh or cry! That is NOT what you say to your hormonal wrecked partner when she has just given you the gift of a child... RAAAAH!

Alamaya · 28/11/2012 00:30

lol TheDetective men eh.

Ive only ever had little tears but salt baths were a godsend

StuntNun · 28/11/2012 01:22

That sounds like an ordeal Alamaya, how are you holding up emotionally? Once this has resolved will the seizures stop for good? Hopefully now you're home you can get to work in the weight gain, I'm sure you'll make up for the difficult start very quickly.

rowingdowntheriver · 28/11/2012 01:40

Reading about everyone's tears / episiotomy a is a real eye-opener for me as, due to CS I didn't go through that. I hadn't realised quite how bad they could be. You all have my sympathies.

Alamaya, what a terrifying ordeal you have been through, I hope your LO is getting better now?

Anyone starting a bedtime routine with LO yet? L is 5 weeks now and no sign of his nighttime feed pattern developing or any improvement I'm his night time sleeping Sad.

Last night DH gave him a bottle for his last feed and got him settled by 12 then he awoke for first feed at 4am. Yay. Same thing tonight but woke for first feed at 1.15am. Boo.

Off to sleep now, no doubt I'll be back soon!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 28/11/2012 01:51

detrctive I had some special pants ice packs! DH came to bed with me at 7 as he gas a cold so is now being my 2am I pad buddy! We must look crazy!

TheDetective · 28/11/2012 01:57

I found the ice stopped helping in the end :(

I'm actually sat here crying in pain. The lavender seems to have made things worse :( I'm sooooooo sore right now. I'm bleeding from the wound and it looks slightly open.

I think today was a bit much for me. Stupid DP pestering me to go out.

Going to attemp sleep now. Came to bed ages ago but of course his majesty wanted a mammoth feeding session!!

katkit1 · 28/11/2012 01:58

I agree with rowing - ouch! at the stories of cuts and sore bits. I was emcs so I feel like I've gotten off lightly when I hear these stories.

TheDetective · 28/11/2012 02:02

I shouldn't complain though because my section wound had me collapsing in pain. When the staples were removed the wound split open in 3 places and a heamatoma started draining. Took a month to close back up and it was painful agony 24/7. Ex DP had to take unpaid leave to look after me because I was unable to care for myself let alone a baby!

TheDetective · 28/11/2012 02:03

I think I'm just unlucky Kitkat!

I can't win either exit Grin.

katkit1 · 28/11/2012 02:05

Oh god detective that sounds TERRIBLE.

katkit1 · 28/11/2012 02:07

It makes me think twice/thrice before complaining slightly about sore nipples when i hear what you ladies are/have gone through

Evilwater · 28/11/2012 02:38

dectective I hope things get better soon.

Baby evil is wide awake, but no screaming! Hurray! :) :)
I swear he babbled "play" not that long ago. It wonderful to hear him babble, now he my PFB.

Anyone else fighting family, about what LO is wearing for Xmas??
I've manged to talk my mum out of a elf costume. Not sure what she got, Im guessing a Santa outfit. Oh dear.....

Evil

katkit1 · 28/11/2012 02:46

we were given a cute red fleecy pj suit with white stars on it which i'm looking forward to putting on baby. he has an amazing track record of poohing/peeing on anything cute though so he's mostly in white drip and dry baby grows.

GTbaby · 28/11/2012 02:54

evil I already have a Disney Xmas outfit. Looks so cute ;)

Just going to bed now. Been watch tv n hanging out with DH as he was on late shift.

Went out today for a coffee/catchup with SIL. First time I have taken LO put on my own. N used the push chair. Was fun lol. He was well behaved and slept the whole time Grin

Tape for ears has left red marks on LO Blush think he may be allergic to the tap? Or it's irritated his skin Sad Hv appointment tomorrow, I hope she don't notice. Confused
