Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Wants3 · 08/07/2012 13:05

Hope things get sorted pomme
D spent about 1/2 an hour in his own bed last night - we seem to be going backwards! I am knackered, we are visiting inlaws this afternoon and I think AF has turned up!:(

scarletfingernail · 08/07/2012 13:29

Oh no Dream, poor DD. How unfair to have it again.

Hope you get on ok at the hospital Pomme. Are you hoping for a new prescription?

Just settling in on the sofa feeding DD and watching the build up to the tennis final. Can't decide who I'd like to win. I really like Federer, I love to watch him play and he seems such a good sportsman. But then I'd like Murray to win for Britain, even though he's a miserable bugger.

scarletfingernail · 08/07/2012 13:31

Boo to AF Wants. What is normal for AF while breast feeding? I've not had one yet and DD is 10 weeks today. I thought BFing kept it at bay?

jaggythistle · 08/07/2012 13:50

oh poor DD dream, hope she's over it quickly.

i didn't get AF back till about 7 or 8 months, think that was because i was back at work expressing and away from DS1 9 hours a day.

think both my boys have a wee cold. DS1 snottering all over the place and grumpy and DS2 snuffling and sneezing.

DS2 still feeding loads and couldn't get him to settle in his bed at all last night. have just fed him as full as possible and handed him to DH to try and keep ironing and getting ready for holidays. meant to be leaving Tuesday, although DH keen to leave tomorrow if we're ready.

jaggythistle · 08/07/2012 13:51

boo to the coughing as well biscuits!

musicalmrs · 08/07/2012 14:26

Dream, your poor DD! She's been so unlucky with illnesses. Brooking it passes nice and quickly...

Pomme, hope you get to see a paed quickly today - and that they're helpful.

Biscuits, can't believe you're still coughing! Hope it hurries up and disappears :(

Had friends round yesterday and family today. They've now left, so we've also settled down (on the playmat!) to watch the tennis! DD slept quite well last night, but not as well as when given a bottle of ebm before bed - will be trying that again tonight. She is also eating loads during the day still, although less when people are here - she's clearly a people person.

Emptying out the kitchen tonight, as it's supposed to be fitted starting tomorrow. Have had a call from the fitter though, who will be a day delayed, so the fitting won't start until Tuesday - argh! Not a good way to start. By the time he gets here the skip outside the front will be a plunge pool.

pommedechocolat · 08/07/2012 15:50

We didn't end up in a and e - after a good lunchtime nap she seemed much better. I think the drugs from this am had kicked in. Think she definitely needs the 15mg I've been giving her (yesterday tried to revert back to her prescribed 10mg).

Now watching the tennis although dd1 is being a bit of a monster and in protest against all the attention being on A again she peed in dh's work shoes...

I don't really like Murray or Federer so I guess Murray by default of being a Brit is who I'm rooting for.

Poor dd and poor you dream - how are the boys?

DreamingOfPeace · 08/07/2012 16:54

Why do I keep getting an 'off-line' screen from mn?! I tried to reply about A before but see she's a bit better. What a relief. Can't help but have a little chuckle at weeing in her daddy's shoes though, little monkey.

I'm with you and losing my mind with the loss of sleep. I can only get S to settle in bed with me, which means I never dare relax and sleep properly anyway... B did a great night last night, but S was up 2 hourly

Oh gross, B is doing a big poo and refluxing milk out of his nose, best go sort it out

JenFraggle · 08/07/2012 16:59

Just a word of advice. Eating All Bran while bf is not a good idea, it seems to pass through to the milk very quickly...

DreamingOfPeace · 08/07/2012 17:34

Lol Jen, I didn't notice any difference!! When I'd bought all bran I mean

DD's mouth is a mess with blooming HF&M . All children have slept loads, DD til 4pm... Bedtime will be late and messy and probably another terrible night...

JenFraggle · 08/07/2012 17:42

We've gone from 1 dirty nappy every 2-3 days to 3 so far today. I had the All Bran yesterday.

Poor DD, she certainly has more than her fair share of illnesses

JenFraggle · 08/07/2012 17:56

And there was number 4

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 08/07/2012 19:12

Aaaargh, M just made the last 20 mins of the journey horrendous. Stopped to get some supplies on the way home and she woke up. Cue outraged howls - we drove for 5 mins gritting our teeth and then stopped and fed her. She came off, I popped her back in the car seat and I don't think the engine had even restarted before the howls did. DH said we were 15 mins from home and he didn't want to stop, and she howled nearly all the way. Bad little beastie. She also waited until I had changed her wet nappy before doing a giant poo into the clean nappy which escaped down her leg. Hmm Huggies nappies = crap.

scarletfingernail · 08/07/2012 19:40

Did you get to meet Too and Dream?

Good to hear A's ok Pomme

Yuk to all the dirty nappies.

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 08/07/2012 20:04

No, sadly. Dream's DH said that between 3 and 6 months is when a baby's immunity from her mother is wearing off and before she builds up much of her own, so we decided not to risk M getting hand, foot and mouth. It's such a shame, but we'll manage some other time when I go down to see PIL. Or I believe there was some mention a while back of trips to St Andrews, Dream? We've actually to go back down south on Tues night for DH's aunt's funeral on Wed, but shan't have time to stop then.

Wants3 · 08/07/2012 20:19

Just got back from PILs. D was great, fed slept and smiled in between. I have been rummaging around the house for ahem sanitary wear. I have managed to gather enough from various drawers and bags to see me through to the morning when I can get to a shop. I was not expecting it back this early:( . It has been a bit uncomfortable feeding today, wonder if it connected?
dream sorry to hear DD is poorly, hope she gets better soon.

PetWoman · 08/07/2012 21:21

Hi all. It's my birthday today and DS decided that 4.45am was a good time to start the day. I managed to persuade him otherwise at about 6am, and we got a couple more hours sleep - phew! Though the cat did purry paddy paws shortly afterwards - I had to studiously ignore him.

I was supporting Murray as he's a Brit, and I thought it was sweet that he was crying after the match, but I like Federer as he's an elegant player and seems a gentleman (old-fashioned? moi?!) so I didn't mind him winning.

Anyway. Biscuits I hope the cough is easing. Poor you. :( Are you taking any medicine for it?

Jaggy good luck with the packing. Hope the colds turn out to be just a passing sniffle. Btw I love learning your local words - I'd never heard 'greet' for cry before and wouldn't have known the translation for dreich. Got any more? I speak schoolgirl French and a similar level of Hungarian after volunteering in a children's home there for a few months after I left school. Also I learned some German at Uni but promptly forgot it. Might have to join Jen with the Latin! Grumio est in culina etc...

Dream hope DD isn't ill for long and S joins B in a good sleep tonight. Did you and Too meet in the end? Btw is HF&M contagious? I never had it as a child so don't know much about it.

Pomme glad A is a bit better. Sounds like upping the dosage was a good idea.

Wants hope you have a better night tonight.

Musical exciting about the kitchen! How long will it take to finish?

PetWoman · 08/07/2012 21:27

Oops cross post. What a pity you didn't meet up, but sure there'll be another time. I hate driving with a crying baby. :(

DreamingOfPeace · 08/07/2012 21:40

I think I'm too thick to be on this thread... I've forgotten almost everything I ever learnt.

too 15 minutes with a screaming baby in a car feels at least an hour... Urgh, poor you two and M.

Oh, DD crying, best go, going to be a looong night... H, f &m is very contagious pet, mostly for children but dh caught it from DD last time and suffered too!

musicalmrs · 09/07/2012 02:12

Pet, belated happy birthday! :-) Hope you had a lovely day!

The fitter reckoned the kitchen would take about a week to fit - he thought he'd finish on Friday though I suppose not now! Looking forward to it being done, though not looking forward to the madness in the interim! Apparently almost all of our dining room will be taken up with kitchen units before they are fitted (and it's only a small kitchen!) so will be stuck upstairs most of the week...

Hope everyone's nights are going ok, but especially Dream's...

Biscuitsandtea · 09/07/2012 03:04

Happy Birthday pet - hope you had a lovely day SmileThanks

Too driving with a crying baby is horrible isn't it - my sympathies indeed. What a shame that you and Dream couldn't meet up Sad

Dream how is dd doing? Really hope she doesn't have it as badly this time xx

Thank you all for wishing my cough away. Unbelievably I actually seem to be coughing more tonight - I think I've given myself a headache by coughing now! It seems less phlegmy though which has to be a good thing so maybe it it ob the mend.... At least my voice is 99% back. My in-car singing is still a little hindered but I can generally talk when I want now Grin

Boo for AF making an appearance Wants Sad. I had a little bleeding about 4 weeks after my post-birth bleeding stopped and I thought that was AF back but it was much much lighter than a normal AF (sorry of tmi - just needed a liner rather than a proper pad etc) and there hasn't been anything since and that was probably 8 weeks ago. Hope it's just a 'pretend' AF for you too.

As Scarlet says I thought bf was supposed to keep AF at bay. With ds1 I was one of the first of my NCT group to get it back again and that was at 6 months. Even though I was still fully bf by that point!

Man, I am so fed up with this cough!

I've forgotten everything else I've read. Hope you're all fast asleep - especially Dream xx

OP posts:
PetWoman · 09/07/2012 04:34

Aw Biscuits I'm sorry the cough's still bad.

PetWoman · 09/07/2012 04:35

Dream you're not thick - you've probably forgotten more than I ever knew!

jaggythistle · 09/07/2012 05:20

hope you had a nice birthday pet.

I'd love to learn Latin too.

DS1's cold seems better, but DS2 has been up so much tonight. luckily i fell asleep on the couch for an hour before bed... feels like I've seen every hour overnight. DH actually woke up enough to do the 4am nappy there Shock

biscuits when i had the cough and cold thing it was definitely a good sign when the cough got less phlegmy, but it still took a wee while to go away completely.

i had the driving with crying baby on the way back from the hospital the other week. DS2 was hungry and i got stuck in traffic getting back to the dual carriageway.

oh i got my weekly blood test, now off steroids but away home with 3 months worth of iron tablets instead. c'mon blood, behave! doc was asking how I'd been feeling, i guess i felt tired enough anyway to not notice any fatigue due to lack of iron!

Wants3 · 09/07/2012 08:26

D would not settle in his crib at all last night so spent the whole night in with me! He only woke up briefly once at about 4 and went straight back to sleep once he had a mouthful of boob:). He is being very sicky after feeding these past few days. I am getting him weighed again today, let's hope he has put on something.
This could be 'pretend' AF as it's only when I wipe ATM ( sorry tmi)
I have got to get on to the surgery today as I am still waiting for Ds 6 week check appointment. He has his first jabs next week and it has to be before then!
