just popping in to mark my place. I think dd is about to surface for a feed. Please someone tell me that first 30 seconds of excruciating pain disappears soon? And that my nips will toughen up soon? Please??

jaggythistle · 06/07/2012 17:11

i think it's harder at first when their mouth is so tiny and your nips not used to it. best to make sure latch is as good as possible though.

congratulations again on ninjagirl's safe arrival Grin

Biscuitsandtea · 06/07/2012 17:14

Welcome Ninja Grin

It does get better - it does it does Smile. Takes a while but make sure you're using your lansinoh (if you have some) every feed. And get the latch checked perhaps when the mw visits?

musicalmrs · 06/07/2012 17:28

Hi Ninja. As someone who really suffered and dreaded each feed at the beginning... yes, it will get better, and you won't have to count/scream/swear in your head throughout the 30 seconds (or sometimes longer, I found..)

I think jaggy's right - small mouth + sensitive nipples = much worse :(

Hope the newborn snuggles are making up for it though? :)

scarletfingernail · 06/07/2012 18:18

Welcome over Ninja, great to see you. Very pretty name you've given your DD Smile. Feeding does get easier, I think it took about 2 weeks to settle down for me.
How's everything going?

Biscuitsandtea · 06/07/2012 18:33

Oooh yes I meant to say gorgeous name Ninja Smile

DH has agreed to an ergo! Sport or classic? Is born.direct a fake free site as they are doing a bundle for a decent price. Ilike first signs though as they have all the info and a wider choice of colours. I will order this weekend hopefully:)

Biscuitsandtea · 06/07/2012 20:02

According to th list from clever Cloggs, borndirect is one of their suppliers....

Here Smile

It's here hawthers, I'm ridiculously excited and hoping for results! And currently eating jelly tots Thanks . Apart from I'm trying to read and feed but the colicky one is making it difficult by writhing around...

scarletfingernail · 07/07/2012 01:29

Oh no Oh no....

I'm fighting being sick. I was in bed asleep when all of a sudden I sat up feeling very sick. This was about an hour ago. Since then I've been in and out the bathroom with diarrhoea and still fighting being sick. I've had to come downstairs to avoid waking DD as I'm trembling with fear and very fidgety. Unbelievably she's been asleep since 7.30pm Hmm. How can I snap myself out of this state? It's ridiculous I'm a 31 year old mother of 2 FFS. So Angry with myself and so frightened of actually throwing up.

pommedechocolat · 07/07/2012 03:42

Oh no scarlet Sad

It sounds a horrible thing to be dealing with especially as you feel so bad and are tired from having a baby.

Hope you managed to avoid it and got back to bed.

jaggythistle · 07/07/2012 03:46

oh no scarlet. really hope the feeling passes quickly. :( Being sick is awful anyway, let alone if it makes you feel like this.

am just feeding my super hungry boy. he cluster fed what seemed like all afternoon and evening. you'd think maybe he'd sleep a bit but he was up again at 12.30 and 3 and possibly somewhere in between. he seems to have been extra hungry the last few days. normally in the evening he does a lot of screaming at my boobs when he's tired but he's been smiling at them and crying for more if i try to settle him.

DH was getting stressed as he wouldn't settle on his knee or even in the sling at all, just wanted more milk.

DS1 sounds a bit restless, not sure if he's dreaming but i heard him shouting 'what's that' a minute ago. still crashing about a bit.

hungry baby appears to have detached..

Biscuitsandtea · 07/07/2012 04:00

Oh no Scarlet you poor poor thing Sad. Really hoping that it's passed without you having to be sick Sad. I know you feel cross with yourself but try not to be too hard on yourself. An irrational fear is just that, irrational. So just because you know in your head that really you shouldn't feel it, you can't stop yourself. And lots of people have irrational fears (mine is pigeons Blush). I really feel for you - feeling sick is bad enough anyway and then to have the other stuff on top is just horrible Sad.

Am seriously brooking that it's passed and you're tucked up fast asleep again now Thanks.

Am I allowed a little 'yay' that dd was sleeping so well? Smile

I'm up coughing and spluttering on my own again. Can't even blame ds1 for getting me up today, just me me me and my coughing Confused.

Oh by the way, can I ask a stupid question of you / Too? What does CBT stand for? I'm sure I knew this once upon a time and i know it is something 'counselling-ish' but can't work it out. Other than isn't it the motorcycle driving test? I'm not sure that's what you're asking you doctor for though HmmConfused? Am doubly brooking that the doctor takes it seriously and can help you out with this xx

Congratulations ninja!! Lovely name, hope your night shift is going ok Smile

Biscuitsandtea · 07/07/2012 04:17

Any thoughts on this: I don't seem to have as much milk yesterday and today? I'm noticing this especially in the first feed of the day. Yesterday ds2 had fed at 6:20 before bed and then 5:20 in the morning, and normally my boobs would feel relatively full by then and you can hear him having plenty to drink. Last night he fed at 7:40 after his bath and then at about 4:15 this morning and it's the same thing again. A lot of sucking for not a lot of swallowing. Surely I should have plenty of milk after that long? Where's it all gone? HmmConfused

OP posts:
Biscuitsandtea · 07/07/2012 04:28

(Sorry, yesterday he fed at 7:20 before bed)

OP posts:
jaggythistle · 07/07/2012 05:04

yeah, I'm thinking growth spurt. he's 11 and a bit weeks biscuits. was thinking it might happen while we were on holiday so i guess this is easier!

up again feeding now! i thought it was time for a morning poo, however i was head butted when i picked him up as a subtle hint that he wanted more milk...

do you reckon your full feeling is just settling down now you're getting a few longer sleeps? maybe E is getting more efficient at guzzling too?

cbt = cognitive behavioural therapy i believe. -(

jaggythistle · 07/07/2012 05:06

not sure what that bit on the end is, think it was going to be a smile!

hawthers · 07/07/2012 05:27

Right brookers I'm off on hols for 2 weeks prob no internet access so will have no chance of catching up. Take care if each other h x

hawthers · 07/07/2012 05:29

And biscuits I constantly feel that my supply is going even though in theory I'd be quite happy to give up now I still panic.

Hope you are ok scarlet

jaggythistle · 07/07/2012 05:35

have a good time hawthers, we're away on Tuesday.

Biscuitsandtea · 07/07/2012 07:55

Have a great holiday Hawthers good luck with the travelling and look forward to hearing all about it Smile.

I've weighed myself this morning - half a lb again Sad. So that's 1lb in 2 weeks and 3lbs in total Sad. I've tried quite hard this week too so am feeling quite despondent about it.

DH has lost 6lbs Shock this week. I suppose I'm pleased for him but still Envy which makes me a bad person Blush
