Here we go again...

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Grin you can climb down now mlisc Tbh I'm only sticking with SW for the moment because a) I love fruit and can't be doing with cutting that out b) I've paid the money so I've got membership for the next 3 weeks and c) I don't want to make huge modifications to my diet while B is ebf. I've watched lots of stuff on low carbing/the evils of sugar etc and to a large extent I agree with it. I don't like the stress on a lot of meat since that's completely unsustainable if we all decided to eat more meat and less grains/pulses. I also think that fruit/beans/lentils etc are on this planet for a reason and not just to tempt us but I do absolutely agree that we eat far too much sugar and I can understand the whole blood sugar spike thing. I've already decided I'll start low carbing when B cuts down his feeds. I already do things like cauliflower/sweet potato mash, cauliflower 'rice', courgette 'noodles' so there's not a huge change there, and with SW I've cut right back on my bread intake. I don't like SW mainly because they encourage you to eat as much as you want (which isn't healthy) and the fake sugar stuff is crap and I try to avoid it as much as possible.

spirael hope the viewing goes well! And the appt, as horrible as it is

memphis DH cuts S's hair just cos it looks better shorter, his is nothing special anyway just straight and blondish so it's no loss to mankind!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 25/07/2012 14:51

Glad you agree with me about those two thigs chul. I am ok wrt fruit because I rarely eat fruit and when I do prefer berries which are lower carb anyway. I love love love veg though so find it easy to bulk out meals with an extra portion of veg instead of a carb option. I do miss sweet corn though.

I feel pretty sick myself today. Wonder if E's sickness last night was more than just the heat? I have deliberately done nothing today as I felt the kids needed a 'calm' day after their over exhaustion of the last few days. Now I need to drag them away from team umizoomi go out to buy dog food, hope W doesn't fall asleep in the car.

Chulita · 25/07/2012 15:17

S had a 10 min nap in the car on our way to a friend's (where we lasted 40 mins before coming home due to constant whining) and he's been whinging all day driving me up the wall, L is talking non-stop and I'm waiting for the insurance man to ring me back about this freaking bus we're getting. I'm in a foul mood and can't stop eating liquorice. All I've said all day is "L get your hands out of your pants" "S stop whinging" repeat ad nauseam. I have no idea what to do for tea and have nothing in except chicken and bacon, can't be bothered and just want a day off with no children...fat bloody chance. RAAARRRRR!!

Oh yes, add "S stop picking blueberries" to my constant refrain...

Chulita · 25/07/2012 15:18

Have you lost weight on it mlisc? or are you just doing it for the health aspect?

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 25/07/2012 16:12

Lost about 4lbs so nothing major because I keep cheating but like feeling less bloated when I cut carbs

Mine both slept the entire car journey, on which there were roadworks and two train crossings [bedtime is going to be fun emoticon]

memphis83 · 25/07/2012 16:55

mlic hope your not getting a bug, thats all you need on top of the heat!
I really cant cut L's hair it has taken so long to resemble hair (all be it crazy hair) I think I would cry!
chul have they phoned back about insurance yet?
spirael fingers crossed your appointment and viewing both go ok, let us know how they go.

Had a friend here today, also went shopping and bought nothing. And now just come back from Asda, bough L some pants as I hate him wearing a nappy around house when its so warm and he hates having him willy out! Just want to get air to him, DH is also home later for one night. so 'cooking' tonight, we are having chicken, new potatoes and salad, shock to my system after all the takeaways!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 25/07/2012 17:30

You're right, it's all I need, but it's not all I need on top of the heat because there is none! It has turned here already after 2 days of heat and 0 of sun. I'm going to do dh chicken curry with swede chips but I don't fancy anything.

memphis83 · 25/07/2012 18:44

Really? It is so scorching here its unreal, Love it, dh is home and cant believe how warm it is, he hasnt had our heat where he has been!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 25/07/2012 19:24

Even when we had heat though, we had no sun! I did a BBQ last night but it wasn't sunny...just an excuse for a nice cold lager while I cooked it Grin

Chulita · 25/07/2012 21:50

It's roasting here too, I wouldn't mind if the house was cool but just checked on the children and even just in a nappy they're sweating, 31c indoors again...

The insurance man never did get back to me, i've got to get insurance tomorrow or we won't be able ti tax it for sat.

Hope today went ok for you spirael!

Get better soon mlisc.

Chulita · 26/07/2012 15:25

Hello?

Just had a mega poo leakage from S, squitty poo all through the dining room/living room, dripping down his leg etc. Epic nappy fail. I've spent 30 mins crawling around cleaning up where I think he was, I was (of course) upstairs trying to settle B so I have no idea if I've missed any. Now is another of those times where I would pay good money to have a Vax... and of course I've got nothing else to do today than pick over the carpet scrubbing up diarrhoea..

Spirael · 26/07/2012 16:21

I'm around, Chulita! Sounds pretty dire with the nappy fail. Confused The Vax cleaners do sound good, but I'm hoping if/when we ever move house that we can have somewhere with laminate downstairs for the child(ren) stage.

Disclaimer- No other children yet. :P We can't fit another in until we move or afford another until we're not paying FT childcare.

The appointment wasn't too bad, memphis... Though not exactly my idea of a good time! Mostly I was just seen by an excessively large handed consultant, and apparently I have to go back for a flexible endoscopy or some such... Which is going to be delightful and involves enemas from matronly nurses. [weeps]

On the plus side it was an OAP couple who viewed the house yesterday and apparently they loved it (yay!) and will be interested in a second viewing...as soon as they sell their current house. Hmm However their current house is on the market and receiving viewings, so hopefully they'll get an offer soon and we can all start moving. :)

Another excitement from yesterday... After seven years of using an ancient second-hand mattress (so goodness knows how old it really is) with an ever increasing hole in the middle that threatened more than once to swallow DH or I, we finally bit the bullet to invest in a replacement and it arrived yesterday. It's like sleeping on a cloud in comparison! Grin Amazing! Though I can't sit on the bed and have my feet touch the floor anymore, the mattress is so thick. Blush

The weather is warm here, but grey and uninspiring. Meant to be colder but sunnier over the next few days though.

Anyone got any exciting plans for the weekend? A quiet one here, for once! Bliss!

memphis83 · 26/07/2012 17:01

chul oh no that sounds horrific!
spirael that doesnt sound too bad, fingers crossed their house sells soon and you can all get moving, is that house up the road you liked still available?

I am out on Saturday night with my two friends, I need to get out and get drunk, be an idiot and forget about everything here, I had 3 panic attacks in the night worrying about the hospital then the hospital phoned to confirm my appointment and I asked what they were concerned about, and my fears are realised, they are worried about my heart, 25% of people with what I have dont live to 30 due to the heart giving out, this it seems is why I had all the problems while pg and why my heart went weird after I had L and why I get flutterings, I had no idea about any of this! So scared of what will happen to L if I wasnt here!
We are also going to get the hutch set up in the garden ready for Bronson's arrival on Tuesday, dh wants us to get two rabbits but im not so sure! and I would like to go strawberry picking.
Mum coming over soon to take me out for tea as dh is away again.

Chulita · 26/07/2012 17:44

Ack memphis didn't want to read and run, I can see why you're worried. It's good that they're getting as many people to see you as they can. Fingers crossed they can do something for you.

spirael great on the oldies! hope it comes to something.

Manic pre-bed time here, I've had such a stressful day I just polished off a whole pack of strawberry laces...there goes the diet then

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 26/07/2012 18:33

Shit memph. Sounds scary.

Yay for positive house viewing spirael!

My friend next door got two rabbits and despite both beg female one hounded the others, humping here constantly. They had to be separated (and the one who was constantly being tortured actually dies the weekend before last Sad) I'd just get one...but then I wouldn't get another animal if you paid me!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 26/07/2012 19:55

Just re read my last post...wahhhh to all the typos! But you get my drift (was in a hurry in the middle of giving the boys their supper)

Looking forward to my Thrusday night curry when dh gets in from his run...mmmmm

memphis83 · 26/07/2012 20:34

mlic I would probably have 2 boys, then find one isnt actually a boy and end up with a million rabbits, I will stick with one, cant inagine being able to keep an eye on 2 rabbits a dog and L running around the house!

Just mowed the lawn, and when we went for tea I left Ls new book on the roof of car and drove off, went back to get it, it travelled a mile on the roof and then got run over, but its still readable! Grin
dh just messaged me, he and the other lad have forgotten shower gel, not a shop in sight so that had to split the complementary soap between them Grin

Chulita · 27/07/2012 06:34

We had a rabbit and a guinea pig once and the rabbit constantly bullied and bit the pig so we gave him to a friend then the pig pined away and died...pointless creature.

Both L and S were up at 0520 [long day emoticon]

DesperateHousewife21 · 27/07/2012 07:25

When I was young we had a rabbit and a guinea pig and the rabbit used to try and shag it all the time.
The rabbit died first and the guinea pig soon followed, we thought he missed the gay rabbit.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 27/07/2012 07:35

I also had a rabbit and a guinea pig. Nobody said back then they shouldn't live together but now it's a well known fact - my rabbit used to bully my guinea pig too and one morning I woke up to find it had gnawed a giant hole in his back :( My dad took him to the vet and came home to tell me the vet's friend had two guinea pigs but one had just died and the other was very loney and would we mind if he went to live there to keep it company. I was 27 before I realised that meant he'd had to be put to sleep. twenty seven

viksam · 27/07/2012 07:51

Chu that's funny, pointless creatures! Hahaha! That made me laugh!
We had a rabbit when I was 2 and I died when I was about 11 it was a big part of my childhood memories, dad chasing him around the garden trying to get him in, taking him for walks in the big pram up the road! Floating him across the pool in an old washing up bowl! On the fun!

memphis83 · 27/07/2012 08:14

mlic that really made me laugh...27!
vik sounds like that rabbit had a great life!
I had a rabbit and pig when I was little the a french lop..years later I found out that when it went missing a neighbours ex con boyfriend had killed it for fun the bastard.
There is a pet shop here that still keeps guinea pigs and rabbits together, the vet told me they dont do it as the rabbits attack or kick them I too agree that guinea pigs are strange theare so nervous you cant do anything with them!

memphis83 · 27/07/2012 08:15

dh I think its about time you told us your name ideas for the baby!

Chulita · 27/07/2012 08:35

Aw viks those memories sound so Enid Blytonesque, I can just imagine the poor thing clinging for dear life to the side of the bowl while he floats off Grin

Your memory's not quite so sepia-tinged memphis. Apart from our guinea pig/rabbit story (which was very short, I think we had them about 4 weeks) the only other contact I've had with pigs is looking after my neighbour's for 2 days when one of them died. I rest my case.

I agree we need baby names dh [notbroodynotbroodynotbroody]

Chulita · 27/07/2012 08:47

Oh yes, I meant to share a little gem I received yesterday. B is very finger-sucky/dribbly at the mo and some woman I've never seen in my entire life came up to us, asked his age and then said "he's teething poor baby, I'd give him a chicken drumstick - it's the salt you see, makes their gums feel better". I should've replied "which is why, strange lady, you will never be left alone with my baby"
