Happy birthday D!

viksam · 23/07/2012 06:23

Threads Dead!!
Poo, where is everyone? You cant leave me on my own doing there stupidly early mornings. Again im in a quandry, happy F and D slept all night, extactic even, never dared to think it could ever happen............BUT unhappy with the 5.05am wake up. Again i tried my hardest to settle F but to no avail and D i have been in to three times to tell him to be quiet and stop banging on the sides of his cotbed. I tell you the day they both sleep till a sensible hour starting with a 6 i shall keel over!
We did have a lovely day yesterday, all went to plan and D seemed to enjoy himself, he had some great presents from other people two duplicates though so thats a shame. He had a little tool kit that can stay out in the garage with daddys tools and some percussion instruments like a tambourine and maracas etc.............which can also stay in the garage with DH's drums!
DH is off work now for three weeks, we have appointements today and a visit to the nursery to arrange some taster days etc. Im working tomorrow, wednesday we will have to get weekend away stuff ready then thursday its prty at soft play, home for quick lunch then drive to brum for the weekend. We are hoping to get a few nights out when we are there one to see Dark night rising and the other to drink and see friends like a normal person again!!!
So what did anyone else do at the weekend? and what have people got planned for the 'summer'?

memphis83 · 23/07/2012 07:11

vik glad D had a good day! Hope you have a great time in Brum and weather is nice for you.
We had a nice weekend, we went for a walk with friends amd I got very burnt so been shivering all night!
Our new neighbours bought L a whole outfit from Gap as a late present, so nice of them!
Dh is away until at least Wednesday and im out Saturday, been so stressed ive chewed all my nails off really need to let my hair down!

Spirael · 23/07/2012 09:23

Open day was a complete and utter failure... No-one showed up at all! :( Doesn't look like we're ever going to be able to move house. There just seems to be no movement in the market here at all, presumably because no-one is able to get mortgages.

We were intending to go to Canada, WSS, but it seems they don't want us! We waited four years in their queue just to be processed. At the end of the listed waiting period, we contacted them to ask what was happening, and they told us they definitely wouldn't be processing our file for another two years and to contact them at the end of that period when they might tell us how much longer we'd be sat in the queue for.

From the start we decided that if we were going to move anywhere, we wanted to do it before any children we had started school so it wouldn't disrupt their education too much. In two more years M'll have started school, so we withdrew our application at the start of the year.

We're hoping they might actually give us our money back at some point, which apparently can take six months to do! At least we'll have made money on that, weirdly, since we paid and will be refunded in Canadian Dollars, and in the past five years the Canadian Dollar is now stronger than the Pound, so the dollars will be worth more when we convert them back!

Oh well... At least the sun is shining and it's finally going to be lovely and warm here today! Of course I'm stuck inside working and DH is over in Ireland on business... But I can watch summer out of the window and look forward to doing M's meal/bath/bedtime by myself later and then sitting in isolated splendor in my no-longer-a-home house for the evening! Wink

memphis83 · 23/07/2012 10:12

spirael sorry no one turned up what a waste of your efforts! Would you look at moving to US, NZ or Aus or was it just Canada you liked?

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 23/07/2012 20:52

Oh no spirael :(

Boys were looked after by my friend today and they came home like absolute zombies. They often sleep badly when they're this tired, I really hope we're not in for a shit night.

Back on low carbing today - lamb with creamy cabbage and courgettes. Tomorrow will be salmon and stir fried veg.

Chul how are things there?

Memph, why the stress?

Vik does D still nap?

memphis83 · 23/07/2012 20:58

mlic so stressed and worried abput the hospital looming over my head so worried abot the future if they dont get my levels right.
But had my hair done in salon for first time in 3 years they cut a few inches off as it was wrecked so feel a tad better with my swishy hair

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 23/07/2012 21:15

A good haircut always makes you feel better :) I haven't had mine done since 4th May Shock I never normally go longer than 8 weeks but Imjust haven't got round to it! The boys are getting their haircut tomorrow. I've had enough of W's scruffy head, he is in for the chop Grin

Chulita · 23/07/2012 21:44

I'm herw, my laptop doesn't work properly at the mo, my phone's crappily slow and dh monkeyed ariund with the pc and I couldn't work out how to get online. he showed me today though so hopefully I'll get time to catch up with everyone tomorrow.
Grin at viks being scared of my sleep deprivedness
Happy belated birthday D, keep sleeping through for your poor tired mummy!
Thinjing of you memphis, hope you manafe to semi forget about hosp this week.
Cba to correct typos, sorry, phone's too slow!
Catch you all tomorrow!

memphis83 · 23/07/2012 22:21

chul they have put it back to next week, they want to get a specialist from another location to see me as they want as many people to help as they can!
mlic I had a minor dry trim in March, before I went blonde I had it done every 8 weeks but theyn went blonde and wrecked the hair, so as it was snapping I was scared to see what they would do but she gave me a deep conditioning oil treament I keep swising it eventhough im alone.
E isnt getting the chop is he? Shock L's hair is crazy, after a nap it goes wild but I refuse to cut it! its so crazy if its cut it will look awful so im hoping the longer it gets the heavier and less wild it will become!
I really hope everyone gets a good nights kip tonight!
We have an Argos clearance near us and I got 2 King size duvets 70% off so gt the 2 for £9! cant wait for them to go on the bed tomorrow!

Chulita · 24/07/2012 12:40

I meant that I hope you don't think about it all week long memphis, can't be easy waiting so long!

spirael that sucks about the open day! So rubbish, I can't believe no one's interested at all...we're not having any luck finding tenants either, I think most people just aren't wanting to move.

We went out for a walk this morning, silly me forgot that nursery had gone to the zoo for the day so I had everyone up, dressed, suncreamed and off to drop L only to get there and find it closed Blush We took her packed lunch to the woods instead and they ran around a bit. Both L and S are now asleep and B's awake, guaranteed he'll go down just as they both wake up!

It's S's birthday today, we're not doing anything special, DH is away so we had the cake on Sunday. S was pratting about earlier and leapt off the rocking horse onto the corner of his bed hitting it with his eyesocket. He's got a nice red/black eye now and it'll look worse in the next few days. He just doesn't stop climbing!

We've put down a deposit on a van...I'm not convinced myself (which sounds silly since we're buying it now). I mean I love the VW, it's big, roomy, leather seats, wipe-clean floor but I just feel dumb having such a massive van for just the 5 of us. At the mo when we all go out I sit in the back of our Avensis estate cos you can't get 3 car seats in the back and that's a right pita but I love our car and don't really want to see it go. Also DH and I test drove 3 at the weekend and I liked the manual whereas he wanted the automatic. He won but I'm not a fan of automatics so when I was out today I was changing gear and feeling all sorry for myself Grin I'm so dumb!

right, bedtime for B then to wake the other two so they have a chance of going to bed before 9pm tonight!

viksam · 24/07/2012 21:48

what happened chu did they go down at sensibleo'clock?
When you say van what do you mean, do you have a VW camper? We used to have one and im so sorry we sold it, the boys would have loved it. We plan on getting some sort of camper when the boys are a few years older, im really sure they would like it. Happy birthday Sam btw, hope you had a nice day on sunday.
31c is bloody hot, we got up to 27 in D's room, its awfull for them isnt it. Now ist dark im going to go open their doors to get some air in, just hope i dont manage to wake them.
I have to say about hair, i had a perm on tuesday.................a perm!! and i hate it! I blow dried it straight yesterday and it looks ok now, she did it too tight and it just goes frizzy now, not a good look, im very dissapointed.
Please god let d have a better night tonight, he was up at 10.30 crying the on and off till 2ish i think, he woke up with a dirty nappy which is most unlike him so i think he had a bad tummy. He did a poo in the bath tonight for the first time too so i think there is a tummy thing going on with him, better out than in i say! DH had to deal with it, i was with franklin hahaha!!
My god look at the time, its well past my bed time........night!!

memphis83 · 24/07/2012 22:09

chul happy birthday S, Loved his cake, im so gutted that I spent so much on cake decorating stuff then was too ill to do it when his birthday. im sure you will get used to an auto, will be so much better to park and manouver with no clutch to control, is it a new one?
viks cant believe D's room is so hot! its been 29 degrees here but our house is lovely and cool still!
Had Sil's girls today, we traipsed down the village to the park for one of them to need a wee straight away so we had to come home, then they were bored! Then they brought a pack up an didnt eat it but were hungry, welll tough I have no food bar fruit in the house!!! grr! but they were well behaved and one took it very well when L trumped in her face! (unintentionally)

Chulita · 24/07/2012 22:11

Viks have you been on the wine? You seem very chatty Grin dc went to sleep at 8.30 grr!
It's a vw caravelle and it's lovely but we've had to get finance and i'm funny with loans so am all worried about the cost!
Ha! Good on D for his impeccable poo timing!
I'm on feed number one, looking forward to bed in a mo.

memphis83 · 24/07/2012 23:23

chul so have you gone for the bus so there is no need for a bigger car if you go for number 4? Wink
I have just filled myself up on cloudy lemonade and 2 custard slices! I put one in the fridge then thought better of it and ate them both!

Chulita · 25/07/2012 08:44

Hah memphis! There's no way this body would do a 4th and live, I have so much back pain since having B due to having no stomach muscles and diastasis rectii. We could always adopt though Grin
didn't mean to ignore you last night, your post hadn't come up when I started typing, takes so freaking long on the mobile! It's not a new one but the person who had it before only put 20000 miles on it in 6 years being a mobility vehicle. Trouble is I'm having a bit of a 'mare insuring it cos it's been modified then un-modified again...
Ours and B's rooms were at 31C last night, this house is shite for keeping heat/cold out, in the winter the rooms go down to 10/11 at night. We've also got crap central heating that's either on full blast or off so we spend all winter running up and down the stairs to turn it on and off. Can only have it on for 20 mins before the house is redders then it cools down in an hour so have to turn it back on again...ridiculous thing.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 25/07/2012 09:03

Well the boys were so restless in the heat that W kept crashing into E and in the end I separated them at about 10pm. Thank god I did - E got up at 12something and was violently sick. Bless him. W woke at that point from the room next door but thankfully went back to sleep while I sorted E out...and the carpets that were vommed on. And W had 40 mins more sleep than E this morning so all in all it was a good job that I split them up.

Vik nightmare about not liking your hair! Is it easy enough to straighten? How long will it last? W cam running into ,y bedroom this morning and the first thing I thought was how much I love his short hair. He just doesn't have hair like his brother and it just always looked flyaway and sticking out and...scruffy. He looks lovely and smart now, and ever so grown up

Saw do has finally popped the question kk, tell us all about it then Grin

I have got my friend onto low carbing now so I feel really guilty if I slip up. Can only be a good thing, right? Keep me on the straight and narrow :)

Chulita · 25/07/2012 09:39

DH has got it into his head to low carb mlisc I keep meaning to ask you what you cook for main meals. I've been slimming worlding for 3 months with no support from him (in fact he was always leading me astray) now he's full on low carbing and I'm not sure how to adapt the meals I do usually for him and still fill him up without overdoing the meat. I'm a bit irritated with him tbh cos he wouldn't join me with SW even though I was losing weight and he was always bringing me 'treats' etc then a colleague at work lost quite a bit of weight low carbing and he's suddenly a convert and although he says I don't have to change the meals I cook, he just won't eat the carbs, it doesn't work that way if he's going to get everything he needs. ARGH! I could've done with his support over the last few months and I definitely would have lost more than I have done. When he brings in a whole box of chocolates or a packet of biscuits and sits there eating it every night, there's only so long you can smell it and not join in...

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 25/07/2012 10:24

That wasn't very kind of him chul :(

I will try not to get on my soap box but I really, really disagree with slimming world principles for two reasons: the first is it does not promote a healthy attitude to food - ie it makes a big thing about how you can pretty much stuff your face with food, so long as It's the 'right' food. I don't think that's a healthy approach, particularly when a lot of people doing it have problems with portion control etc in the first place. The second is that is promotes a lot of food with artificial sweeteners and sugar in. Low carbing is the exact opposite of sw/ww etc and if you look at product labels you'll see why. Carbohydrates = sugar. If you look at 'low fat' products they are always, without exception, higher in carbs than full fat products. Which just means they're packed with sugar.

There is a lot of recent research to disprove the previously believed theory that fat is bad. Even saturated fat. There is a mass of information even on mn about low carbing - check the big/slim/whatever weight threads. I truly, truly believe that low carbing is the healthiest way of eating. You eat more fat therefore stay full between meals. The fact that you eat fat means it is more filling/satisfying and therefore you generally don't overindulge because you get full quicker.

There is a recipe thread on those threa too, for some ideas. Meals this week included lamb with pan fried cabbage (in butter) with a dollop of Boursin melted into it and courgettes on Monday and a BBQ last night with full fat coleslaw and tonight I will have salmon with stir fired veg (but not sure what she will eat cos he will only eat chicken! There is a recipe on the good food website for Parmesan swede 'chips' which we often have with meals instead of potatoes. I don't miss pasta at all. I occasionally have rice with a curry, then regret it because I actually now think it takes away the taste of the curry. This can be adapted, like using emmental cheese slices or courgette slices in place of pasta in lasagna etc.

Sorry, I said I wouldn't go on... Blush

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 25/07/2012 10:27

PS dh is not even very strict with it (ie has the odd Jaffa cake or cornetto etc) and has lost 17lbs in about 10 or 11 weeks

memphis83 · 25/07/2012 10:27

mlic what made E sick? Was it the heat?
L's hair is scruffy but been told it would be worse if short as there would be no weight in it. Dh's family would love me to cut it, my whole family would probably sob if I did!
chul funny how eventhough te modifications are reversed it still effects the insurance?!

I was so up for low carbing but it hasnt happened, even bought a load of celeriac to use instead of potato!
Going shopping this morning with a friend so its bound to rain once i get a summer outfit

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 25/07/2012 10:58

I hate celeriac. Nasty stuff.

That's bollocks about his hair memph. W has really, really, ridiculously fine hair. My hairdresser pleaded with me not to cut his curls off but I made her do it. It looks so much better. E's hair was at 8/9 months what W's was before the chop yesterday. Some kids suit long hair, some just don't. E does, but W's needs to be short.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 25/07/2012 11:12

Oh and forgot to say, I think it was the heat. He was sick on Sunday too, they both were. The heat tires them out more in the day and then they don't sleep properly eithere cos they're too hot - I think he was just past himself. But even though I got his to the toilet (being sick all the way) he was sick all over the toilet. He's never been sick like that since being a baby, poor little mite.

Chul if your local library is any good, check out some low carb books. I think it's easy to dismiss unless you understand why you need to change your habits.

Spirael · 25/07/2012 11:46

We have friends in Canada, memphis, which is why we were looking there. We have friends in the US too, but getting into there is even harder! Aus and NZ are a bit far away and have too many big creepy-crawlies... [shudder]

I've had lots of success with Slimming World, personally... But then I rarely eat meat so just stuck to green days the whole time. Wink The change I made which had the biggest difference was swapping my lunchtime sandwich to wholemeal pasta! I've tried low-carbing, but it was never that effective for me as a lifestyle change as I love pasta with cheese too much.

Last couple of nights were a bit manic. Of course M chooses the night DH is abroad to suddenly realise that she doesn't have to stay in her junior bed after I've tucked her in, and is perfectly capable of getting up and wandering around. Fortunately, after a couple of failed attempts to make her stay in bed, I was able to persuade her that she wasn't allowed to get up until the Gro-Clock sun was showing. She's been ok after that.

Then last night, just after poor DH crawled in after his flight, he found me running around cleaning and was promptly handed the vacuum cleaner - as we needed to get things tidy for another viewer that's coming aroudn today. No peace for the wicked!! Fingers crossed please that this one might actually like our house and be in a position to make an offer-!

Got my 'treatment centre' appointment later for the lovely piles... [weeps]

OP posts:
MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 25/07/2012 11:53

I eat a lot of cheese spirael, cheese is ok! I used to eat lots of pasta and thought I'd miss it but I really don't. I've realised it was the sauce I loved, not the pasta.

Fingers crossed for your house viewing today!
