DECEMBER 2005: SETTLING DOWN???????

Hope no one minds but i thought id start a new thread as the last one was so long!!!

HOpe you are all well.
Sweetheart: CONGRATULATIONS on passing the exam! What a massive achievement for you! WELL DONE
George: I have gone through all Aelx-Leighs clothes too and had to sort through all the next age bracket, its so upsetting isnt it!
SCULLY: Alex is also a very windy baby! She is definately her daddies girl in that department IYKWIM
FLUTTER: hows George doing now with wind etc? Did you try gaviscon? fingers crossed fort he flat, bet you cant wait to get your own space again!
EBBIE: how are things with you babe?
Jays: How are things with Harriette??
Nemo? Where are you?? Hope you and kids all ok, how is DH new job going?
After the nightmare i had on MOnday i ended up having to take Alex-Leigh back to the doctors on friday. Gaviscon worked a treat for 3 days and the on Thursday she started vomiting again and screaming in pain. We booked to see a different GP at the surgery who was great and immediately diagnosed REFLUX and has put Alex on ENFAMIL milk which goes solid in the tummy thus preventing her from regurgitating the whole bottle and stomach acid. She seems to be doing ok, still getting some sick but very small amounts comapred to before! Was discharged from Therepy on Friday, therepist said i had worked really hard to start the grieving process and has said she is happy im well on my way and wants me to stay on anti depressants for 6 months. Dh has handed in his notice at work, long story but he is no longer happy there, this means he now has 6 weeks to find himself another job or we will be in a very bad situation!!! Im trying to be supportive but its hard! I start back at work in 2 weeks and am looking forward to finally earning some money again, although what i earn will not be enough to pay bills if DH doesnt get a job!
Got to go as Alex has just woken up from her nap!

Take care all.

I'M SOOOOOOO PROUD!! Dylan just rolled right over on his tummy with his nappy off (he can't roll with it on as it gets in the way!) He got his legs and one arm into the crawling position and lifted his head, he got his other arm stuck and then got the hump and screamed! I managed to get photos of it!!!

One very proud Mummy that just has to tell everyone!!!

Hope all goes well for tomorrow Nemo and that your all back home together!x

rachc · 06/04/2006 22:38

hello all, hope everyone ok.
nemo, hannah and family hope you are all ok, will be thinking of you all.
bonkerz, poor alex-leigh, hope she gets fully better soon. will keep my fingers crossed for your DH finding a job too.
not much to report from my end, holly is getting really big, cant believe how quickly time is passing. DH off work next week doing diy, so am going away to family with girls, leave him to it.

Nemo1977 · 07/04/2006 21:05

hi all
not had chance to catch up but just letting you know hannah is back home. She has inhalers to take and I have to watch her breathing and note down all her feeds etc as she has lost 2lb in one week but she is home which is the main thing. We have appointments coming through in post for reflux clinic and something to do with her breathing aswell as apparently she has a weak chest[which basically means infantile asthma]

rachc · 07/04/2006 23:19

nemo
so glad hannah is back home, hope everything is going ok, and that things arent too stressful.
hello to everyone else, have a good weekend.

scully · 09/04/2006 23:03

Everyone must be having busy weekends! dd1 had a birthday party to go to yesterday so of course we stayed for drinks afterwards as the parents are friends of ours, and only got home at midnight! Good fun though and managed to stay in bed until 8.15am this morning, although dd2 woke up twice during those 8hrs Smile
Today got a bit more diy done and sorted out the loft and the amazing amount of stuff we have stashed up there....
Hope Hannah is doing ok now Nemo, must be such a relief to have her home.

dramaqueen72 · 09/04/2006 23:47

hey scully -hows the other gorgeous christmas baby? arent they growing FAST?! sounds like a good 'kids' party you went too... d2 is three next month and we are having a party much like that! tho where the heck I'm going to get the time to organise it properly is beyond me!!

big hellos to all dec mummies
s/h I owe you an email!!! thanks so much for mine!
ninah, yeah woohoo on the 'attachment parenting' it seriosuly ROCKS. daisy is a great feeder, great sleeper and just so lovely. its heavenly to nap during the day with both her and dd2 snuggled up on the bed............I wake up and feel soooooooo blissful. I know routines work wonderfully for so many mums, lots of ladies here for example, but they simply send me into a stressful panic.....I'm a kinda go with the flow mum, :) glad to hear your little sweet daughter is kind to you.
george, need new Jake photo fix i think!!
kangel wooho on the rolling over, way to go dylan!
nemo, hope hannah is on the mend?

georgeandwigglyjake · 10/04/2006 10:14

Hi all,
Nemo, I'm so glad that Hannah is back home. You must have been so worried. How goes life at home for you? Are you feeling better now?

DQ, I'll swap you a piccie for one of Daisy please. I'd love to do the whole co-sleeping thing but after trying it once I gave it up as a bad idea. The amount Jakey wiggles, neither of us got any sleep!! Will e-mail you soon.

Kangel, what a clever boy Dylan is. I'm a bit scared for when Jake manages the rolling thing as he will be off and away I think. Smile

Flutter, hope you are feeling a bit brighter and things are going better for you this week. Don't go hiding away if you are feeling crappy come & have a whinge on here. Smile

Rought week for me last week as DP was away for the whole week just as Jake had a growth spurt and teething to deal with. I cried when he got home Blush as I was just so exhausted. That is with my mum & sis staying to give me some company too. Think it was just the fact that they can't help with the feeding, oh how I wish these boobs were detachable!! Grin
I have a new found respect for any mummies who are going it alone.

Anyway, hope everyone else is well. One day I might get back into a routine of posting again. Smile

sweetheart · 10/04/2006 19:49

Hello to you all!

Kangel - great news about Dylan, has he done it again since? It's so exciting when babies do new things isn't it.

Nemo - I hope Hannah is doing better, what a scary time for you!

DQ - great to hear from you! You're missed around here you know.

Well, we have just come back from our 1st weekend away in our caravan and apart from being a bit cold it was brilliant. Dd absolutly loved it although I can't say the same for Lucas who wasn't happy about being unsettled and spending most of the weekend outdoors - he takes after me and is in love with central heating!

I started weaning Lucas today - he has never really liked his milk and he is still sicking most of it up. He loved the baby rice and couldn't get enough of it - he cried when he had finished it and didn't want his milk at all. I'm hoping it will fill him up so he sleeps better at night. He slept through twice and then resorted to his usual sleeplessness (if thats a word!)

How is everyone else doing?

ei23 · 11/04/2006 10:25

bonkerz · 12/04/2006 22:19

HI all,

Where does the time go? My little girl is growing too fast! She is so strong its quite scary really! Also quite shockjed as to how big she is and is fitting into 6-9 month clothes whist her 3-6 month clothes are too short!!! She is still sleeping through! Thank fully!!!
DH finishes his job tomorrow so i will be officially the only earner in the house which is slightly worrying, not sure how we will cope now!
My sister is due to give birth any day now and speaking to her i had forgot how desparate you are at 38+ weeks for it all to be over!
Anyhow, hope you are all well, JAYSFIRST, where are you babe?

bonkerz · 17/04/2006 19:12

YIKES, i really killed this thread didnt I!!!!!!!!

How has your babies firts easter gone? Alex-Leigh got lots of new toys and even more clothes from family and friends! Was really hoping someone would buy her chocolate so i could have some!!!
My sister had a baby on Saturday! It is her 4th and she had a horrid 13 hour labour and after being told it was a girl managed to pop out a little boy so all weekend we have been rallying around trying to get some boys clothes for her as she had all Alex-Leighs. Thanks NEMO for donating to the cause as well, she was touched when i told her! (will post the nappies tomorrow!)
Back home now though and have a week off work! Dh is now officially unemployed and has an interview tomorrow for a job he really wants so fingers and toes crossed at 12pm that he gets this job!!!
WHERE IS EVERYONE???????????

Pernod · 17/04/2006 21:13

Hi - am new to this thread but have a 3rd dd born 20.12.05 - can't believe she's just cut her 1st tooth!! My other 2 were both 5 months before they did. Poor thing has been in so much pain though!

sweetheart · 18/04/2006 13:52

Hi Pernod - it's been fairly quiet around these parts lately but welsome anyway - I'm sure more will be along to say hello soon!

How is everyone?

We are doing well. Lucas has been having solids for a week now and I have just moved from baby rice to vegtables which he loves. I'm going to have to try a few ars I think as we are away to Scotland in a couple of weeks and I can't think how to keep home made food fresh - any ideas?

Hope everyone is well, just a little busy with the babies!
NINAH - how are you doing hun? Hope everything is OK and your just a little busy!

We had a lovely easter - hope everyone else did too.
Love to you all
SH xxx

scully · 18/04/2006 15:57

Hi, hope everyone had a lovely Easter. We did loads of diy, so not the most exciting 4 days, but our kitchen is much improved and dh is all fired up no to finish off the last few jobs and get the house sold so we can start planning our move to Australia Grin
Hard to believe that dd2 will be 4mths old next week and dd1 will be 4 this Sunday Shock So I have party bags and a cake to think about for her party this Sunday, but as it's at a soft play area, I don't have to worry about mess or feeding twelve 4yr olds, 1 2yr old and a 2 babies Smile

kangel · 18/04/2006 20:30

Hi All,

Welcome Pernod!!!

Hope you all had a good Easter - we all, including the cat went to Devon to stay with my parents for a week which is why I haven't posted. The day before we left I washed my hair and a load of it fell out and it hasn't stopped since! So much has fallen out that anyone who knew me will notice the difference in it! I am feeling extreamly low and depressed over it and am really struggling to deal with both this and the mess of the scar on my tummy Sad

Apart from that not much to report on really....sorry to bring a downer to the thread, hope you have all had a good week with lots of chocolate!!

scully · 18/04/2006 22:17

That's awful Kangel, are you going to see anyone about it?

Welcome Pernod!

sweetheart · 19/04/2006 08:29

kangel, sorry to hear your feeling low. My hair is falling out alot too. I loose a good couple of handfuls every morning. I have fine hair anyway so loosing most of it is horrible, as a preventative measure I had my hair cut quite short to thicken it up a bit. Could you possible do the same?

Hope you feel better soon
Sh xxx

ei23 · 19/04/2006 13:36

hey ladies hows things??Grin we are ok sian has started sleeping through most nights and is pilin on the weight!! shes sucha happy smily little thing!!
how is everyone else doing?? minnie hows the pg going??
where is everyone?? having fun with their little angels i hope!!

scully · 20/04/2006 11:24

I had dd2 weighed yesterday, 11lb4oz or 5.1kg. One the small side for her age but so was her sister so we just have weenie girls I think (smile)
She's such a happy girl and always have a lovely smile for us first thing in the morning. And her and dd1 have such a lovely relationship, I hope it continues as they get older.
On a different note, I had my hair cut and coloured yesterday, first time in 4mths, feels so nice!

Pernod · 20/04/2006 20:55

Had my dd3 weighed as well this afternoon, she's now 15lbs 14oz but has dropped from the 99th centile at weight, she was 9lbs 11, to the 75th centile, hv says I need to increase from 2 to 3 meals a day. We only started solids 2 weeks ago & she's not keen!!

xx

Nemo1977 · 20/04/2006 23:19

hullo all
H was weighed by the hospital at her appointments on tues and is now around 12lb3. Not interested in weaning but then I dont expect her to be. Funny thing is Adam had to be weaned at 11wks on HV advice as he was taking 9oz bottles and still wanting more. If I can get H to take a 4oz bottle it is a good feed..lol
Dont know if I said but we had more bad luck on mon with dhs car being broken into. Am hoping that is our run over now as its getting a bit ridiculous. Als someone stole one of our hanging baskets by the front door..cheeky gitsAngry

flutterbee · 21/04/2006 10:20

Hi everyone,

George was weighed on Wednesday and he is now 16lb 8oz and he is fully weaned, we started him a few weeks ago when he was gulping down 8oz and he loves it he has 3 meals a day followed by a bottle and then just a bottle before bed.

Things aren't much better for me my Grandpa is having to be scanned as they can't work out where the internal bleeding is coming from??!!

Our new house is about to fall through all because of my stupid stupid work, so I am having to go back to Nottingham next week to return to work for a few weeks until (fingers crossed) we complete, there is no guarantee we will complete as the morgage may still be turned down. I am so Sad at the moment. We have spent all our savings trying to get this house and if it falls through now we are stuffed.
I also hate my old job some of you may remember the hassle I got when I was pg and now I just know that I am going to go back to comments of "have you enjoyed your 7 month holiday" etc, my Mum has told me to go in and be brilliant make them feel like idiots and then take great pleasure in resigning. My brother (lawyer) has told me as soon as we have completed I should go and give my notice in and advise them that I have taken legal advise for constructive dismissal and that I am considering taking personal action against this particular individual because of the discrimination she has heaped on me, I should then advise them that I am sick with stress they have caused and that I shan't be back in for the week (I only have to give 1 weeks notice) and then leave straight away do not talk to anyone else.

Sorry for such a long depressing post, we leave at the end of next week and have no idea how long we will be away, luckily for us my other brother (I have 5) has a house up there that he is trying to sell and he has given us that to stay in and on the positive side of things my Dad and stepmum will get to see George again as they live up there.

Speak to you all soon. xxx (what about this meet up, I could really so with one)

Jaysfirst · 21/04/2006 15:02

Hiya all! I am still alive and well as is Harriette. All has been good with us both ( and DH ) Its just that a lot has been going on and posting on here has taken somewhat of a back seat i wont go into too much detail, its all a bit boring!

Have skimmed through some of the thread, but i dont seem to remember any of it sorry if i need to congratulate/commiserate anyone, seems though that everyone is fairing ok in the world of babes. Grin

Harriette is doing well, weighed in yesterday at 15lbs 14ozs, so my worries a few weeks back about her not getting enough food were unfounded, shes such a long little girl, her arms and legs go on for miles, its funny as the 3-6mths clothes are all on there way to being to short in the body , arms and legs, but she doesnt fill them out widthways....am thinking shes going to be a tall young lady! She also has been dribbling ALOT over the past month although i cant see any teeth yet, she has however mastered the art of rolling over. For the past week shes been doing it, so strange that one day she was quite happily lying there on her back, the next day, whoosh over she went right onto her tummy, no hassle whatso ever....shes even starting to lift up her bum and push herself with her feet...dont they come on so quickly. I cant believe it's only been 15 wks.

My best friend had her baby two days ago ( while i was in Nottingham visiting over easter) he was a massive 10lbs 11ozs. ShockA right little bruiser, it was strange having him and Harriette next to each other i really could see how much she had grown!

So quick question now, how do i get DD to sleep through the night then? she goes down at 7 i dream feed her at 10.30(still BF exclusivly) then she wakes at least once sometimes twice before waking up at 7 in the morning. I only feed her once betwen DF and 7 am, normally about 3 ish, should i start replacing this with water, or maybe i need to give her some rice or something in the day time? I really have no idea.

Anyway good to catch up, hope everyone is ok, love to you all! Smile xxxx

sweetheart · 21/04/2006 19:14

Hello all,

Hope everyone is OK. It's so quiet around here these days, lots of babies keeping us busy I guess!

Jays - There are a number of ways you can drop the night feed - it really depends what your preferences are. Your HV would probably advise against baby rice at 15 weeks but I began weaning Lucas at 16 weeks because I felt he wasn't happy with his milk feeds. He loves his food and as a consequence has started refusing milk so his intake is quite reduced. Because of this weaning him hasn't filled him up enough to see him through the night.

Does Harriette have a dummy? I give Lucas his last feed around 11pm, then I'm a nasty mummy and refuse him milk until he wakes up around 6.30am/7am. I use his dummy to get him to fall back to sleep. I'm hoping that in time he will learn not to wake up and in fact last night he slept through. If you don't want to use a dummy you could either pacify her in other ways like stroking her head or offer her water like you suggested.

Right, I'm off to get my little man out the bath. I've been allowed out to the pub tonight so I'd better make an effort to glam up a bit!

bonkerz · 21/04/2006 21:24

Hi all,

Jays, good to see you babe! How on earth did you let real life stop you from posting!?!

Alex-Leigh is doing great! She is also getting too big for 3-6 month clothes but it is mainly length rather than width! Had our first night tonight where Alex-Leigh refused to settle. She has been grumpy all day with bright red cheeks and upon closer inspection Dh and I think she is breaking her first tooth! Her fist is constantly in her mouth and her cry is awful! Bonjela and calpol seems to have done the trick though and after 2 hours off shimmying and rocking she is finally asleep! Dh and i decided we are going to try weaning again tomorrow! Have already tried baby rice but she wasnt keen and tbh it didnt make a difference to how long she went between feeds so have made some homemade puree and will try tomorrow. She has started draining 7 oz bottles so will just try breakfast for now!

DH has got a job!!! He finished work on good friday and TBH i was starting to panic BUT he got a call today to say he has a new job as manager of a TOTAL garage forcourt! Am well chuffed! Its not more money BUT the bonusses are really good and there is big opportunity for promotion! PHEW!! Was dreading having him home with me!!!

did you see the pics of my babies?

\link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=1700&threadid=165641&stamp=060419204404\here if you missed it}
