DECEMBER 2005: SETTLING DOWN???????

bonkerz · 18/02/2006 15:00

Hope no one minds but i thought id start a new thread as the last one was so long!!!

HOpe you are all well.
Sweetheart: CONGRATULATIONS on passing the exam! What a massive achievement for you! WELL DONE
George: I have gone through all Aelx-Leighs clothes too and had to sort through all the next age bracket, its so upsetting isnt it!
SCULLY: Alex is also a very windy baby! She is definately her daddies girl in that department IYKWIM
FLUTTER: hows George doing now with wind etc? Did you try gaviscon? fingers crossed fort he flat, bet you cant wait to get your own space again!
EBBIE: how are things with you babe?
Jays: How are things with Harriette??
Nemo? Where are you?? Hope you and kids all ok, how is DH new job going?
After the nightmare i had on MOnday i ended up having to take Alex-Leigh back to the doctors on friday. Gaviscon worked a treat for 3 days and the on Thursday she started vomiting again and screaming in pain. We booked to see a different GP at the surgery who was great and immediately diagnosed REFLUX and has put Alex on ENFAMIL milk which goes solid in the tummy thus preventing her from regurgitating the whole bottle and stomach acid. She seems to be doing ok, still getting some sick but very small amounts comapred to before! Was discharged from Therepy on Friday, therepist said i had worked really hard to start the grieving process and has said she is happy im well on my way and wants me to stay on anti depressants for 6 months. Dh has handed in his notice at work, long story but he is no longer happy there, this means he now has 6 weeks to find himself another job or we will be in a very bad situation!!! Im trying to be supportive but its hard! I start back at work in 2 weeks and am looking forward to finally earning some money again, although what i earn will not be enough to pay bills if DH doesnt get a job!
Got to go as Alex has just woken up from her nap!

Take care all.

Hi all - it is so nice to be back on line, I've missed not being able to speak to you guys!!

Well Dylan had his 2nd lot of injections today, it seems to affect me more than him. Hes been so good today full of smiles and babbling away - he laughed with noices for the first time last week and it was so cute.

Hes not been well with a cold cough and upset tummy but he seems to be on the mend now.
Scully i hope dd2 gets better soon!!

By the way who was my secret stork? I know it was ages ago but it would be nice to know.

Must dash, Dylan needs a feed will check in again later

flutterbee · 28/03/2006 09:27

Kangel nice to hear from you after all this time, hope things are settling down for you.

Mothers day here was petty boring, I woke up to find a box of chocs and a card on the bedside table and dh had gone to work. I didn't see him again till 5pm and we then rushed round to see my Mum, got back from my Mum's at about 9pm had KFC Blush and then went to bed.

Hope it will be better next year Sad

ei23 · 28/03/2006 09:53

on a slightly less cheery note... dp has had his notice from his job and hes being made redundant in april!!Sad we are now on the frantic lookout for a new one!! ah well thats life i suppose!!
anywho... how is everyone else?? and your lil bundles??

MINNIE1 · 28/03/2006 10:13

EI,
My lady is doing the same down at 8, up for a feed at 2 and down again till 7.30. But its brill because i have me time now as to before. Not having her in routine was hard i though.

How are all you scrummy mummies (ok its the hormones) I have joined the due nov thread but i am drawn to the Dec one just miss it i guess.

Flutter,
Sorry MD wasnt all that. I think everyday is MD, to have pur babys here is enough (when there quiet and not crying that is) lol Smile

Right off to ring the hospital for early scan (fingers crossed i'll get one)

Talk soon.

rachc · 28/03/2006 15:26

hi all, it's nice to hear from you all, i have tried to start a couple of threads for people in my area, but no-one replys to them, oh well.
MD was lovely, have early tea with MIL & FIL and the bambinos, although Holly cried through most of the time we were actualy eating, so was doing the well practiced 1 handed eating, whilst rocking her.
don't know whether you have tried it, but I started to give DD2 a bottle at 7pmish then leave her til she woke for another feed, now i give her another bottle at 10.30 and she sleeps til 6.30am when I BF her, she barely even wakes for the 10.30pm bottle, not sure how it would work BF at that time as you don't know how much they are getting.
EI, hope Dp gets another job soon.
Minnie, hope scan goes well.

sweetheart · 28/03/2006 21:17

Hi all, hows things?

I had lunch with my boss today and have managed to negotiate going back 3 days a week. Money will be tight for a while but I'm sure we'll get used to it.

I have to go into work for a few days next week and I'm dreading it. I've got to file lots of paper work with the Inland Revenue and there are penalties involved for anything submitted wrongly or late - I'm really worried my brain won't kickstart and I'll make a huge mess of everything.

On the plus side of life my diet and fitness are going quite well. I lost 4Ibs last week and I'm not feeling hungry. I'm really enjoying the excercise too and joining the netball team has been brilliant. I'm starting to notice small differences and so I'm going to put up a fat piccie and a thin piccie so I can look at them when I need motivation. Anyone else trying to regain some sort of shape?

I'm thinking of doing one of the Race For Life runs for Cancer Research. I can run 1km in 10mins but it nearly kills me - think I'd need to put in some hard training for a 5km run! Shock

georgeandwigglyjake · 29/03/2006 10:07

Hello all,
I've been a bit bogged down with Jakey teething so not much sleep for the alst week for me. I've been out & bought up a chemist shop now so we finally got a bit more sleep last night.
He also had his 2nd lot of jabs yesterday so not really a good day for him. Sad

Ei, sorry to hear about your DPs job. I hope he finds something soon.

SH, work?? Crikey, I can't even remember what day it is let alone do anything more complicated. I hope it does come back with a bit of practice. Smile

How did you get on with the scan Minnie? Hope you are feeling OK.

Sorry about your MD Flutter. The best part for me was a lie in until 11.00am (although did the feeds still)!!! Shock OMG, how I've missed sleeping in.

Rach, MN has certainly kept me sane over the last year or so. Whereabouts do you live by the way?

Kangel......it was me!!!! Hope Dylan likes his pressies. Smile

awayninahmanger · 29/03/2006 10:20

hello again!
Ei sorry about dp's job, hope he finds something soon. My friends partner took voluntary redundancy, was off for a while but ended up with a new job better than he could have dreamed of - and with one day a week working from home! so hope same works out for you.
Hello rach, my dd's second name is Holly!
George I can't belive Jake is teething already! my goodness doesn't it go fast. Arianna comes to life in the evenings, which I don't mind really as she is such a cheerful girl (unlike her brother at that age!) we had a day on the beach with friends yesterday, gale force wind and the children plastered in mud, it was fantastic but we were all wiped out with tiredness from the sea air. ds managed to wet his own bed and then mine .. a bit shattered today!
sh great news about the job! and hope you can fit your training opp around it. Fantastic. You'll be surprised how you brain does come back when faced with the Inland Revenue as opposed to multi tasking 24/7 at home. Remember you can have coffee breaks! hurray! I'm not missing my job but I am missing the relative peace and quiet, if my colleagues have a problem at least they don't SCREAM in tandem!
As for getting fit one of the things that I noticed about the photos was my major spare tyre so I am definitely up for improving things. I need to lose about a stone - kind of assumed it would drop off given teh general running around but need more - so far manage gym once a week only - want to do a reclaim our bodies thread anyone?

kangel · 29/03/2006 10:20

Hi all,

Sweetheart - good on you for doing race for life, I couldn't even think about doing that right now, I can't walk up the road without getting out of breath!!

I am eating like an absolute pig, I am constantly hungry whilst bf - its all I think about and my tummy is constantly moaning at me!! Thankfully though (and I know i'm going to get stick for putting this) I am less weight now than I was before I got pregnant and was back in my normal clothes 2 weeks after having Dylan.

Me and DP took casts of Dylan's feet and they came out really good, I just need to paint them now. We have enough material left to do one of his hands, so that is next.

How is everyone today? Dylan still has a cold, so has DP and I have a throat infection so we are a healthy house hold at the moment.

Sorry to hear about the job EI, I know how you feel - do you remember last year my DP was told in August that he was being made redundant in December right when Dylan was due? Well he is still hanging on but has a final final date of the end of May. I will also be made redundant in June/July as they are moving my job. I wont say I'm not worried and stressed over it, I just try to put it to the back of my mind until it happens. Both of us out of jobs at the same time cannot happen!!! Chin up hun and sending you [[[[[[[[[hugs]]]]]]]]]]]

Gosh I'm not used to this December thread being so quiet......what a difference from the 'due in' threads - I could never keep up with you chatterboxes!! These bubs do keep us busy! Grin

awayninahmanger · 29/03/2006 10:21

uh well you're sorted kangel! less weight than before pregnant Envy!

kangel · 29/03/2006 10:29

Hi Ninah!! The amount i'm eating though it wont stay off for long! Seriously I can't stop!!! Sad

George - Thanks!! He loved his pressies and everyone commented when he wore his suit - I have kept it to put in his keepsake box. You have great taste!

Ninah - I was your SS.

flutterbee · 29/03/2006 12:38

Hi all again,

All this talk of getting back into shape is putting me to shame I am hugely over weight and need to loose about 8-9 stone (I am not over exagerating). I have really made an effort with the rest of my life so far this year, it's now 3 months of not smoking, and I don't miss it one bit and I have now stopped biting my nails for nearly 2 weeks. The 3rd and final stage of my life renovation is to tackle my weight and fitness this is going to kick into action as soon as we move to our new home Grin which hopefully will be very soon.

I have got all the photos of our hols now and want to put them on out photo bucket for you all to look at but can't remember what the address is, any clues anyone (I know jay will know if shes about). I'm sure you will be amazed by how big George is now.

One last thing I have to tell you is George took 9oz before bed on Monday and then slept from just before 9pm all the way through to 8.30am I was sooooooooooo amazed and refreshed. He woke up at his usual time of 6amish today though so it was probably a one off.

Any news about our meet up???????

flutterbee · 29/03/2006 12:40

Oh I forgot to say my maternity leave ends on Sunday Shock Sad I may be going back for 1 week to tie up some deal ends but I hope not because I'm on the south coast and there in Nottingham, but it's safe to say I will have to find work in the next few weeks because noway can we live on DH's wage.

rachc · 29/03/2006 13:32

hi all
struggling to keep up, cant imagine what it was like before you all had babes.
cant believe you are less weight than before preg ninah, i have a stone to lose to get back to pre preg weight, hopefully doing the race for life will help. Sweetheart have you done any training yet, I walked 2 miles on Monday and am going to join the gym soon too.
kangel, good choice of name for DD, I love it.
i keep thinking i might go back to work early, then i think about it again and remind myself not to be so stupid, it will come round quickly enough as it is.
DD crying and need to hoover house MIL bday today and they are over for tea.
by the way we are in midlands, where is everyone else?

sweetheart · 29/03/2006 14:42

wow busy day for chatting - it's almost like it used to be!

I've got just under a stone to loose to be bak to my pre preg weight but I was overweight to start with so now we've finished with the children I'm going to reclaim my body and get down to my ideal weight which is between 10 and 10.5 stone.

Kangel - I'm very Envy of you being so svelt! Hopefully I'll be joining you soon. We are going on holiday in 9 weeks time and i want to loose 15 Ibs which will take me back to my pre preg weight.

rach - I am trying to increase my general fitness levels before starting training for Race for Life. I haven't decided if I'm going to walk it yet or attempt to run it Shock I'm going to the gym twice a week for about an hour and a half and I also play netball once a week. Are you thinking of doing the fun run too?

georgeandwigglyjake · 29/03/2006 16:22

Blush, 1½ - 2 stone to lose here hence the reason I've stopped on the chocolate binges. Obviously can't "diet" as bf but I can't use that excuse for all the crap I eat.
Think it is a great idea to have a "Dec ladies want their bodies back thread", we could have a weigh in every week then there is no escaping! Either that or a reverse toilet paper tuesdayGrin

sweetheart · 29/03/2006 16:36

pmsl Grin reverse toilet paper tuesday!!! HA HA!!!!

sweetheart · 29/03/2006 17:00

\link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?rn=63758&topicid=2330&threadid=159834&redir=63758\the get our bodies back thread is here}

I thought I'd open it to all the post natal people if no-one minds. We're all in the same boat and could all use some support and motivation! Grin

bonkerz · 29/03/2006 19:40

rach, where in the midlands are you?

OP posts:
kangel · 30/03/2006 09:49

Morning all......

Well I am a really bad mood today! I opened my payslip to find that I have only been paid 3 weeks maternity pay for March when I should have been paid 4! Work are trying to fob me off saying up until payroll closed it was 3 weeks but I'm not having it and maternity pay is rubbish at the best of times but there is no way I can last till the end of april on £318! Let battle commence!!!! Angry

How is everyone today....?

Thanks Rach - DP Chose Dylan's name, he is a made Bob Dylan Fan. Am a bit worried though as people have already started to shorten his name to Dil and call him Dil Dil - I DON'T THINK SO!!! Its exactly as it says on his birth certificate......Dylan. Wink

rachc · 30/03/2006 10:00

hi all
kangel, dont let people get away with calling ds dil, poor thing.
having good day so far, tried to clean some of the house, kitchen was a wreck as FIL & MIL over last night and did not clean as I cooked, never mind all sorted now, thank goodness for dishwashers.
DD1 at home today so have left her watching cbeebies, (how can i neglect her like that).
better go DD2 crying for food.
speak later

ei23 · 30/03/2006 11:26

morning!!Grin
how is everyone today?? i put sian in her own room last night for the first time!! is wasnt as bad as i was expecting getting up out of bed to see to her. i was dreading it but it had got to the point where the moses basket was just too small for her as shes a big girl now!! 12 weeks on sunday!! gee how time flys i cant believe it!!Smile
thanks for all the well wishes for my dp im sure hell find a job soon- hes sent out a load of cv's to electrical firms and were just waiting for the replys now!! im sure theyy flood in!!Wink
ah well im up for the reclaim my body back thing!! i have weighed myself and i am a few pounds less than what i was pre-pg that said my body shape has totally changed and i seem to have alot of looseness happening around my midriff!!belly-tops are out of the questiion indefinitely for me i think!! not that i could wear them beforehand like!!Wink the stretch marks however are still horrible and dont seem like they are ever goin to fade! ah well how was id dq put it they are the medals of motherhood! sounds a nice way to call them and i think i was given a whole shelf of them!! haha
gotta dash as my angel has fell asleep on me and has given me a dead arm!! love and hugs to you all!! xxx

flutterbee · 31/03/2006 17:15

OK the Dr told me I'm depressed today, I'm not sure I believe him, I think I'm just having a rough time at the moment.
George has just been crying all the time, he sleeps brilliantly at night (unfortunately I haven't been) but during the day he will only settle for 20 mins and then just screams the place down I have been in tears most of this week, then with all the stress of buying somewhere as well I think I'm just asking a bit much of myself.

I was so embarressed when I broke down on the poor Dr he was a bit shocked because it just exploded out of me, I'm sure the people in the waiting room heard me as well.

Oh well as soon as we have moved and things settle down I will feel much better.

awayninahmanger · 31/03/2006 20:57

oh Kangel thanks so much for being such a great secret stork! I didn't guess at all ... thanks! Smile
rach it is Kangel that is skinny NOT me! I wish.
I love the reverse tp idea george! I think I'm about a stone overweight still but it seems a lot more cos its mostly in the form of a big sausage round my midriff, I wonder how blokes with beer bellies can think it's OK to flop it over the waistband of their jeans cos it doesn;t feel at all good to me. Will seek out teh bodies thread.
Arianna has a terrible cold she has slept most of today and Louis has also been suffering. We've all had broken nights and feel exhausted. STILL no news on my house I have had a viewing today and one booked for tomorrow so fingers crossed if not thinking of changing agents as its been 3 months now and no offers.

georgeandwigglyjake · 31/03/2006 21:14

See Ninah, not me at all!! Smile I'm awake at nights too at the moment if it makes you feel any better.

Sorry you are feeling down Flutter. Aren't you going back to work soon too? Must be an awful pressure on you with moving as well. Hope you feel a bit better soon.
