Wants I'm sure D will put the weight straight back on. How are your older DSs with DS3?

Too what an amazing moment with that swallow! Don't shut the door - put out bird seed. Grin. How is M today? Totally recovered, I hope.

Musical your Eurovision party sounds great! We used to do them at Uni - fun with international students who each brought a dish from their own country. I miss those days. Sometimes. Anyway, I don't think you should even consider doing housework yet - your job is to feed DD and nurture your nipples (though difficult to do simultaneously, I fear!).

Biscuits get t'internet fixed - we need you!

Dream on a Friday night can't DH walk the BBBBs while you snatch a nap? It just seems so hard that you've got twins and colic! Surely one or the other is enough for anyone... :(

DreamingOfPeace · 26/05/2012 18:33

He did walk them for 45 minutes but then brought them back as still screaming. Boo. I have been up since 4am, DD up at 6am- unusual for her. Dh had the BBBB's from midnight til 2:30 when I got Ben, then kept Seb til 4. Groan. To let him get some sleep I managed to get my brood up, fed, nappies and dressed, out the house for 7:50 :) . We went to.the playground. First time I've done it by myself and I managed...just, so I'm quite proud. But knackered.

Is mini fraggle here then?!

Gutted for the flower show scream, hope your ban isn't too disappointed.

biscuits hope you do post, I'd miss you!

Right, off to bath the dts.

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 26/05/2012 18:52

Oh my good God, two of my uncles and a cousin just turned up out of the blue. The reason I am freaked out by this is that yesterday I was sunbathing naked in the bit of the garden you can't see from the road, so if they had come then they would have walked round the house and seen me in all my stretchmarky, wobbly, peely-wally glory. There but for the grace of God...it never occurred to me people would come without calling first!

Biscuitsandtea · 27/05/2012 06:09

T'internet fixed - yay Smile

Hay fever - boo Sad

Too - eeek, that was close with your unannounced visitors!!! ShockConfused I never sunbathe as I would never go brown - just red then white again Hmm. And I'm confident I couldn't be arsed enough to apply sunscreen all over for all-over-tan sunbathing Grin

Dream awesome effort on getting your brood out to the park! You're amazing! Well done Smile

Forgotten everything else. Tired this morning as DS2 seemed to feed more last night, DS1 up many times in the night too (bad dreams, toilet trips etc) and DH snoring like a pig (Angry).

It's not really that I think DS2 should be sleeping through yet, it's just I know in theory he could (you know because some babies do by this point) so I find myself kinda wishing he would. I'm so over getting up in the night Grin.

And DH (who insists on changing him at night when he's not at work the next day) has moaned every time he's had to get up. My plan at the moment is when ds2 wakes to just spend a few minutes assessing if he's actually hungry or will settle back to sleep with a wind and a cuddle (which does happen occasionally - not often but I want to just be sure he's hungry, especially if he's waking more often than usual like last night). DH is all grumpy, because his legs hurt from playing rounders on Friday Hmm and I'm completely sympathetic of injuries sustained while having a lovely evening at the park with a BBQ and some drinks. He thinks it's 'easier' to just feed him (yeah -easier for DH as feeding ds2 involves DH going back to sleep Hmm). And of course I do feed him if he's hungry but I don't see the problem, since he's not full on crying, in spending a couple of mins giving him a cuddle and a wind (DS that is - DH should be so lucky as to get a cuddle with his grumpiness Grin).

Anyway, hope everyone is doing ok and enjoying the lovely weather. Any exciting things planned?

Biscuitsandtea · 27/05/2012 06:13

Oh and a bird in the house Too? I would have freaked! I'm scared of birds Blush.

Dream you were out by 7:50 Shock. I can't even get myself ready by that time!

And I agree with Pet it doesn't seem fair to have to deal with twins and colic - there should be a law against having both.

jaggythistle · 27/05/2012 06:45

7.50 dream - what time did you get up - 3am? we fail at 10am things at the moment between the 2 of us. Blush

yet another big post got lost yesterday, need to do something about this phone.

Dr Google suggests we have a chest infection in the house. I've been coughing up unpleasant stuff and having to take my inhaler a lot. DH sounds rough too.

DS1's temp has been up and down and he's still coughing too. he was up shivering on Friday night with a temp, then ok in the morning, then a mess at nap time again. i think DS2 is getting better as he's not coughed quite as much.

apparently most infections are viral, not sure if there's much point bothering the doc Confused

we're supposed to be already up right now to get ready to go out somewhere before DS1 gets too sleepy, not really happening.

sorry for me me me, feeling a bit fed up!

DreamingOfPeace · 27/05/2012 09:12

jaggy, going out ill is harder, and I'd been up since 6am. I looked (& felt) like I'd been dragged through a hedge backwards though... No make up, in fact I think I'd forgotten to wash my face... Wouldn't have happened for a proper morning out somewhere, I also struggle for 10am things normally!!

biscuits, you're so generous to ds2. I'm getting seriously fed up of the bbbb's lack of sleeping antics because they blooming well should be able to!!!!

Dh has an exam tomorrow. Costing £500 to sit. In London. Not a hope of him passing really as revision has been nil and the course was months ago... Not that he's made an effort this weekend, he's been out buying garden toys for DD, including a swing set (!!) with a toddler adaptor thing etc etc. Not a sniff of more than 20 min revision. He says he's too tired to revise he may have a point there

DreamingOfPeace · 27/05/2012 09:13

Love the sunbathing story too, had a good giggle at that :)

Wants3 · 27/05/2012 09:18

Hi, pet my DS's are smitten with him! They like cuddles and laugh at all his funny expressions. Ds2 helped with the first bath and ds1 provided support for DH when he was changing a dirty nappy! :)
Yesterday was just feed, feed, feed forD. He hardly slept at all and was covered in prickly heat so could have really done with not being held! He finally went into a deep sleep at 10.30pm. He did then sleep for 4 hours,I woke him for a feed and he went back down for another 4 hours! Currently I am the only one awake in the house.
Possible tmi but I have a scratchy, sharp pain in the 'undercarriage' today. Midwife checked my stitches on Friday and said they were healing nicely so I don't know what is causing this new pain. Should I get the midwife to have a look today when she comes to weigh D?

hawthers · 27/05/2012 09:21

Defo wants best to get it all checked out at home so you don't have to trog to the surgery later in the week if it doesn't get better. Brooking that d has been chubbing up nicely.

pommedechocolat · 27/05/2012 10:16

biscuits - I think a should be able to drop a night feed by now. There always seems to be something disrupting things though. Currently it's hot and she has ANOTHER cold :(. Dd1's driving me more mental though. She fell asleep in the car yesterday and dh insisted on letting her sleep... So she woke at 2 and was up for the day at six. Just like I said she would.,,

Am I the only lemon that gets no help from dh at night?!

Loving the naked sunbathing too!

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 27/05/2012 13:28

I also get no help from DH at night, Pomme. He was too annoying the next day banging on about how shattered he was, so once we were freed from the expressing and topping up nightmare I gave up on waking him.

Am making no progress on the sunbathing. I found a bikini, waxed my bikini line, showered off the excess wax, got DH to put suntan lotion on my back and was just starting the Herculaen task of applying lotion to the rest of my body when M woke up. Am now inside feeding her. The suntan obsession is because I'm going to a friend's birthday barbecue in 2 weeks and I'm feeling a bit body-conscious, so I thought a coat of tan would make me look thinner. Blush Am also hoping that my stretchmarks will look less prominent against tan than they do against pale skin (not that they'll be on show at the barbecue!).

OP posts:
TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 27/05/2012 14:35

Damn, there must be a better way than showering off suntan lotion before every feed because I'm scared M will ingest it. Confused I'm wasting heaps of lotion and it's not cheap.

OP posts:
TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 27/05/2012 16:04

Is anyone else going indoors and outdoors like a yo-yo with indecision, or is it just me? In the last hour M has been inside, feeding in nappy and vest; outside, naked except for nappy in tent made from clothes horse and muslin curtain; inside feeding in nappy only; outside having coolish bath in tent; lying in tent naked kicking happily; howling in tent...have now put nappy and thin cotton babygro back on her and we're inside feeding again. I find it really hard to tell if she's too hot or too cold! Confused She doesn't get very hot to the touch but she does sweat a bit. I put the thermometer in the tent earlier (after she'd been lying happily cooing in it with DH) and discovered that it was 30 degrees in there [shock[, so persuaded DH to take her inside for a bit, but the thing is, she seemed very happy in the 30 degree tent! Aaaargh!

OP posts:
Wants3 · 27/05/2012 16:52

D has put on 2oz! if he continues at that pace they won't worry about him anymore. The midwife also checked me out and said that the stitches had separated a bit leaving a raw patch :( she suggested a few drops of tea tree in my bath to help with healing.
D has been sleeping more today so I doubt I'll get my 4 hours sleep tonight .

Biscuitsandtea · 27/05/2012 17:42

Yay for the weight gain little D Grin - awesome effort Team Wants.

Too we have been out doing a bit of gardening and just left ds2 indoors on his mat. Obv we were checking on him often and we were only just outside the patio doors. Mind you, if I wasn't be gardening I'd be in the shade (or indoors!) - I'm a bit like a vampire when it comes to direct sunlight!

Biscuitsandtea · 27/05/2012 17:43

And ouchie for a sore undercarriage Wants Sad. Also try pouring warm water over it when you wee to stop it stinging.

Yay for D's weight gain Wants! Well done to you both!

Hats off to Too and Pomme for coping without any DH assistance at night! When I do an all-nighter (when DH has work the next day) it just wipes me out! I can't imagine doing that every night Shock You ladies are hardcore.

Sending stern No Brooking vibes to the dreamy twins to start sleeping for longer stretches (at the same time!) Also sending lots of hugs to the twins, hoping their colic will pass asap! I think I've read that colic usually stops around 12 weeks, is that right? The BBBBs are about 8 or 9 weeks now aren't they Dream? Not long to go! You're doing so amazingly well!

Bucketloads of get well vibes to the Jaggy household, you poor things! Sounds so tough, hope it clears up asap for all of you!

Apologies for the lack of participation recently, every day just seems to be so hectic! I saw all of my NCT group today, complete with DHs and PFBs. It was so nice to be with them all and not on crutches, just moving around normally! Woohoo! All of the little babies are sooooo cute as well! We're planning to go picnicking on the common together this week, and to the Mum & Baby showing of "What to expect when you're expecting" next week, and to start baby massage classes together the following week when the youngest baby reaches 6 weeks. I'm just really pumped and looking forward to a great summer now! Grin

DreamingOfPeace · 27/05/2012 22:02

Hi all, quick post as I'm frazzled with 3.5 hours of colic screaming non stop n peace finally reigns here. Only as I'm doing skin to skin with DT2 though and holding phone at this angle kills!!

Yay wants, good baby growing

too the dreamy twins (who are 7.5 weeks old now scream ) have been out most of the day, held mostly, in romper suits with a muslin over their heads in direct sunlight (at a friends house with lots of toddlers in the garden). I had no time to faff about changing them and they seem fine now. :) I wouldn't worry. Babies are pretty robust. I have the dts sleeping outside in the pram mostly too, either in snow suits when it was cold, or romper suits in the shade now its hot. They've always been fine.

pomme, my dh will help til midnight/1am then it over to me...

jaggythistle · 27/05/2012 22:55

hello.

still feeling a bit pathetic and v hot! i think i feel better overall than yesterday, apart from the coughing up of stuff and having no voice.

despite my pessimism, we made it out for the day. we took DS1 to the local aquarium (you know the one dream ;-) )and it was a good test run for DS2 in the sling. we even managed a very quick pub lunch, even though we couldn't taste it really! DS1 did well despite being a bit ill and out past nap time. he had an early night and i discovered his temp was 38.75°C :( I was thinking he was pretty much better too!

i Grin at the sunbathing as well too. not sure what I'll wear outside tomorrow, i have milk, DS2 puke and DS1 snot on the only pair of shorts that really fit...

yay for D's weight gain wants! it's sweet that your older boys are enjoying him!

sounds like a nice day scream :)

more later...

musicalmrs · 28/05/2012 00:03

Pomme and Too, I also have no DH support most nights- particularly when he has work the next day. He really struggles when he has broken sleep, whereas I'm ok. Even when he doesn't have work the next day I only wake him if I need to. He has been wonderful with regard to cooking, cleaning etc, so I can't complain...

Brooking that the dreamy BBBB twins let their mother have a bit more sleep soon.

Wants, hurrah on the weight gain! How many days was that in? I have the health visitor coming tomorrow.. Slightly nervous!

Scream, your NCT group all sound lovely! Wish I had a lovely group of mums to socialise with like that. I need to scour all the local groups to try and find some. Problem is, even though I love near my local town centre, most seem to be held in little community centres dotted around.. All quite spaced out and I don't have car access most of the time at the moment :-(

Had a rather mad weekend, involving lots of visitors (all wanting DD cuddles, of course) and buying a new kitchen!

Ah,sleepy baby.. Guessing a transfer will be unsuccessful but let's give it a try...

Biscuitsandtea · 28/05/2012 06:29

Really, go to sleep. Just try it......

Been up since 4:30 with a super windy uncomfortable baby. Tired....... But now I need to get up anyway so I'm ready to take ds1 to nursery. Not even sure how I'm going to get up and dressed since ds2 is still not showing any signs of settling off to sleep Confused

Biscuitsandtea · 28/05/2012 07:56

Is it bedtime yet?

pommedechocolat · 28/05/2012 08:38

biscuits - snap - dd2 was up from 1.30 until 3.15 last night for no real reason. She was being all smiley and cooey until put down. Luckily dd1 didn't get up until 6.45 for once. I really need some sleep!

I think maybe growth spurt over here, am feeling all annoyed about bf and feeling like it doesn't 'work' and I don't have enough milk. That's normally how I feel during spurts!
