280 is 10 oz give or take. Yip yip!

MissRee · 04/04/2012 12:35

Well done hawthers Grin

LittleMissFlustered · 04/04/2012 12:36

Hawthers I missed your post while I was typing, well done:o

LittleMissFlustered · 04/04/2012 12:39

Oh, and we're off out for crisps as the rain has abated for a minute. Intrepidlybstriding forth in search of Pringles. And fruit apparently.

mopsytop · 04/04/2012 13:01

Yay hawthers!

Oh dear lmf, you're making me crave pringles! Luckily it's too snowy for the pram and I'm not braving the baby bjorn when it's all slippy.

MissRee · 04/04/2012 14:29

If I didn't hate artexed walls enough before, I certainly couldn't hate them any more than I do right now! Hours of scraping the shit stuff off the walls has left my arms in agony!

Thankfully Freya has been sleeping for a few hours now and is blissfully unaware of all the commotion in the bathroom!

NewtTrapper · 04/04/2012 14:52

Thanks for all welcome messages!

Seven I was using infacol but it seemed to stop working so have swapped to Dentinox and when I can get it down her it seems to work -ish (although she hates the taste so generally tries to spit the whole lot out). Also happy belated birthday.

I am bfeeding DD so have to give it to her from the syringe thing and it is quite a big dose compared to infacol.

Really sorry but I have just read back through a few pages of posts(!) so can't remember who said everything (although I am starting to recognise names now :)) but someone mentioned getting help on the bfeeding front and I think this may be part of the issue as my milk does seem to shoot out at a fair pace, often spraying the poor little girl in the face Blush so maybe should try a different hold.

Have basically stopped worrying about it too much just try to comfort her back to sleep as quick as poss so that I can squeeze a cat nap in before she wakes again.

Hawthers sorry to hear about bickering but as others have said I guess it is fairly standard when everyone is so tired all the time.

Will stop now as this is looking quite long already :) I'll try to look more regularly and then there won't be 100 posts to read back through haha

NewtTrapper · 04/04/2012 14:55

Just saw the weight gain post Hawthers - well done!

NorthernChinchilla · 04/04/2012 15:04

10 oz is totally lard-tastic, that's great! Is he now following or going up the centiles?

And yay for Asian food stores, as I have sourced my tapioca flour! I'd've never have found it, as I wasn't aware it is flour made from cassava, and certainly wasn't aware that the common name for the flour in Asia is mogo flour. Had to buy a kilo, and the recipe only calls for 50g Confused, but it was only £3!

One thing that would make my life immeasurably better though is to be able to wheel the pram straight into the house. We have three steps going up to the front door, and then it's directly left into the living room or directly up the stairs (no hall) so we're doubly screwed. Means that if I take LO out and he falls asleep, which is nearly always, he gets woken up as I transfer him in. Buggers up naps something rotten; twice it's happened today, got DS to go down again earlier but have failed now, and it puts him in a bad mood and does nothing for my mood either.

Artex is also the devil's work MissRee, though nothing comes close to woodchip wall paper...

MissRee · 04/04/2012 15:14

We have the same problem with the buggy northern as we're the upstairs flat accessed via a fire escape type stairway and I can't get the buggy up unless it's folded down so I tend to just leave it in the boot of the car.

We have woodchip wallpaper in the toilet :(

aethelfleda · 04/04/2012 15:27

Afternoon! Didn't realise how cold and grotty it was so took DCs out shopping for sandals in TK Maxx. Then stopped off for a quick lunch, bumped into a friend from my DD2's antenatal class and had a nice natter over lunch with her. She hadn't realised I was pg with DS so it was nice to show him off! Finally managed a quick lurch into the Asian supermarket next to the car park, curtailed a bit as DD2 ran out of fuse and launched an epic strop on the supermarket floor when I wouldn't buy her an icecream instantly. However, frozen seafood victory: I love these places. Baby Octopus tentacles, pineapple cuttlefish, giant prawns and squid bits are mine!! Will have to get on the healthy eating bandwagon at some point, I'm starting to get far too lardy :(

Right. More Brew and then some epic tidying between feeds as we're having estate agent to pry value our house tomorrow...

AnAirOfHope · 04/04/2012 15:28

Air is asleep. He has been sleeping in afternoon for over aweek now it very strange. I think he drewing a bug.

Repair guy coming tomoro yay and going to the blue plant in elsmereport on sunday yay.
Stupid child in need meeting tomoro. The play theripnfirmed air has no problems andh nurse write a statment of my sanity and spech theripy went really well. We rgoing to decluture this weekend and take airs old clothes to my sister in north wales. So all good news but we havent seen the social worker for four months now. How can she close the case if she never sees us?

NewtTrapper · 04/04/2012 15:29

Also have the same problem Northern and MissRee but we are doing a barn conversion so hopefully before the end of the summer the path round the back of the house will get done (just a big muddy slope at the moment) and I'll be able to wheel DD round the back.

Would pop to the docs MissRee as better safe than sorry. I am having trouble with my episiotomy scar (sorry if TMI) this week which is gutting me as though I was fully healed. So should probably take a trip myself. Just don't want to have to get my bits out again - thought I had finished with all that for a while at least. Ho hum.

AnAirOfHope · 04/04/2012 15:34

I was told that house put on the market in the spring sell faster i dont know if its true. We really should put house back on market but have a few thing to fix first so it might be next year before we r ready to sell.

MissRee · 04/04/2012 15:43

I was thinking the same thing re: not wanting to be prodded around with newt! with all the problems I've had previously and having been repeatedly told that having a baby would be a "miracle cure all" (Hmm), I'm saddened to find that it's brought a whole new problem to be poked at Sad

msbuggywinkle · 04/04/2012 15:47

Cats eventually herded to naice cafe in the park then swings. Bloody freezing but lots of fun.

that is great hawthers hope this is the end of worrying for you!

air we love it there! The DDs especially like seeing the people diving.

NorthernChinchilla · 04/04/2012 16:41

Ah...my commiserations for your wallpaper MissRee.

Well, as a result of his badly interrupted nap around midday, and nap of ten minutes at around half two, both owing to buggy issue above, have just spent nearly half an hour trying to settle an overtired, yelling DS.

It's soooo frustrating, both the naps being buggered up and the impossibility of settling overtired babies- I kicked the door, but I knew it had stuff behind it so it didn't do anything. Sod all you can do apart from jiggle, dummy and hold them tight until they yell themselves into unconsciousness.
I keep on telling DP that he'll understand why I'm so keen that DS gets his regular naps when he's got to it.

Going to go and dig the hell out of the border to feel better Sad

BJR · 04/04/2012 16:50

Well poo fest continues, but I am now well armed with piles on clean clothes, lots of spare nappies and sudocream. Despite all the poo DS seems quite happy except when i try to change his nappy and still getting wet nappies so he's not getting dehydrated by it. Just hoping it stops soon.

Hawthers great news on the weight gain :o and belated welcome to Newt

Hope the child in need meeting goes ok tomorrow air btw loving Hope's photo in her summer dress on facebook, I think I would have spent a fortune of baby clothes if i'd have had a girl, its all so cute!

aethelfleda · 04/04/2012 16:57

Tidying failed as nailed to perch feeding DS, while DDs watch Horrible Histories Gory Games... And DH says not home til at least 7 so may end up choosing between sleep and tidying. It's so demoralising, I really love our house (apart from it being a bit small for longer term room and the conmute issue). We've a huge conservatory that we practically live in, a good size kitchen diner with a range cooker, a garden with small patio, shaded lawn, mini veg patch, garage and gravel for cars at back. But the veg patch is a muddy wreck at the mo, garden beds need weeding, lots of mess in DDs room, Every room/area I look in I see superficial things That need doing to make it conventionally vanilla (little stuff like decluttering, lick of paint, small DIY bits, nowt expensive or overcomplicated). I just feel cross cos it's like doing an exam knowing I've had no time to revise...aaaaargh!!!

aethelfleda · 04/04/2012 17:04

Sorry for big me rent there! northern, I feel your pain: DD2 was a lousy napper and it looks like DS is similar: no big chunky naps over here, 14 min bursts are the favoured mode of zonk...

Good luck with the poo-fest BJR , glad LO is holding up OK..

Good luck for tomorrow air, and hope they conclude that given your lack of need for input your case can be either closed or mothballed (if that's an option?)

hawthers, that is FAB, and doubly so cos you're getting more kip!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 04/04/2012 17:13

Welcome Newbies.

Hawthers Congrats on weight gain.

Air Hope your meeting goes ok.

Seven I use Dentinox colic drops - I mix within her bottle and I find works well.

In my tiredness still managed to hoover & polish downstairs, flash the bathroom & kitchen, sorted the ironing, sterilised the bottles and go to supermarket. Get Darcie ready to go swimming with my neighbour's daughter. Sort Beef Stroganoff for dinner after I finished feeding Sky.

Early night for me tonight.

HoneyLovesCake · 04/04/2012 17:20

NC, aethel Rocco is still a rubbish napper :( Naps beautifully (for hours) in arms but as soon as I put him down he wakes up in tears; it is sooo frustrating. I keep trying different things but the longest I've managed to get him to sleep without me holding him is 10 mins before he startled himself awake He has NEVER fallen asleep on his own for me. DP got him to fall asleep once in his bouncer Shock

LittleMissFlustered · 04/04/2012 18:45

Today is sacked.

Welcome back Honey:)

I'm going to bed in a minute. Tomorrow had better.be an improvement on today or I may crack.

LittleMissFlustered · 04/04/2012 18:46

P.S. Have you tried swaddling?

GeeandTee · 04/04/2012 19:05

Honey DD is the same. I have managed to get her to nap for max 30 mins in her vibrating bouncy chair once I have rocked her to sleep but she has NEVER fallen asleep without rocking/feeding/slinging. I wish she would takr a dummy as with DS I could just plonk him anywhere with it and he would go straight to sleep.

I'm trying not to worry too much as it will happen evemtually. Read a thread the other day about what people would do differently next time and quite a few people said they wouldn't waste hours sitting in a darkened room trying to shush/pat to sleep or whatever, and just let them feed/rock to sleep asa they will get there in the end.
