I like: December '11 drop-in - the trouble with dribbles:)

Adding the drop-in as some people are feeling intimidated by the speed we go at, I think making it clear we're obsessed just talkative might make it easier for them to come back:)

BJR best of luck for this evening :)

LittleMissFlustered · 17/04/2012 18:00

Sorelip glad you're getting the help you need, here's to a shinier future:)

LittleMissFlustered · 17/04/2012 18:02

I'm being chewed, time to stock up on teething crack aids. Bonkers and powders here we come!

NorthernChinchilla · 17/04/2012 18:03

Well a thoroughly exciting day here Chez Chinchilla, doing housework and sorting and washing clothes ready for my return to work Sad. Have to ensure that tops/shirts both fit over my bf boobs and that I can get at them to express!

The most exciting thing today was finding that the table cover for the wooden table outside had blown off and onto the roses....

I did laugh at your MIL comment Rashka, the cheek of it!

LittleMissFlustered · 17/04/2012 18:05

Bonjela* though I suspect my iphone's auto-correct has it right...

OiMissus · 17/04/2012 18:15

sorelip so sorry to hear what you've been through. Thank goodness you got the help you needed, and that you are happier and looking forward to a bright future.
BOi has not slept for more than 10 mins today, once. And has needed to feed every 1-2 hours. DH has just set off from Hull so not expected home before 8.
I had planned to start working out my work wardrobe too, but I've not had the chance. I have the same problem - bigger boobs that need to be expressed from.
I've existed in jeans for the past 4 months, but I can't wear jeans for work. :(

Oi Hope you sort some work clothes out soon.

Sky had her first taste of reduced in sugar rusk this evening - (half a rusk) seemed to enjoy it ESP as she wouldn't keep her eye off the bowl and wanted to hold the spoon, made her sleepy to so is just finishing her bottle and hopefully that will be it for the night.

NorthernChinchilla · 17/04/2012 20:24

I laughed at 'bonkers' LMF, and worryingly, although I don't own one, there have been so many iPhone mistranslations on this thread I could instantly translate it Confused.

That sounds like a trying day to say the least Oi.

The work stuff is such a pita, and there are varying levels of clothing (general office day, dress down day, informal meetings, very formal meetings, etc) and the weather's so bloody changeable I don't know whether to include my winter trousers or not..
Thankfully I'm the same size, but I just tried on a few off the 'bottoms' to check, and then it was a case of trying on all the tops when I'd not fed him for several hours, and also putting to one side any tops that don't open easily, yadda fecking yadda....

Will be buying a couple of 'smart' vest tops as well as shirts- have you any recommendations as our resident on-line fount of fashion knowledge Grin?!

Will try DS with a carton tonight, to see if he'll take that (and therefore conclude finally it's a matter of temperature) and go from there...after all my research on his behalf, DP wants to get a bottle warmer!

CherryBlossom27 · 17/04/2012 20:30

BJR Do not open the door to the bailiffs and keep the windows closed. If they turn up, ignore them, or speak to them through the letterbox, but don't let them in.

If you or your DH has a car, park it well away from the house, e.g 30 minutes walk away so the bailiffs can't find it.

When your DH gets home see what you can get paid off, or contact the companies and offer to repay a set amount each month.

Hope you can get things sorted x

MissRee · 17/04/2012 20:40

Do you mean an electric bottle warmer Northern? as far as I know, they take 10 mins or so to warm the bottle so not ideal in the night when you have a screaming hungry baby... I'd go with the flask idea!

CherryBlossom27 · 17/04/2012 20:47

Just wondering if anyone else has started introducing solids yet?

I finally saw a HV and we came up with a feeding plan to try out for two weeks, I'm going to give DS 210mls at 7am, 10am, 1pm, 4pm, 7pm and 10pm, then no feeds at night time, just a nappy change and cuddle!

This way the HV thinks he will get more than enough milk and learn to sleep through the night again. My friends babies the same age are sleeping 10-12 hours a night...they are soooo lucky!

This plan will take us up to 19 weeks old. I'm not going to introduce solids just yet, I'm going to wait and see how the next two weeks go first, and then see how things stand. I might even get to 20 weeks on milk only! :o

OiMissus · 17/04/2012 21:29

No recommendations for vest tops, sorry. I haven't shopped for work things for such a long time.
No solids here yet. One thing that stood out at the weaning talk was to wait until they are happy to be sat up. My LO doesn't like his bumbo/snug yet.
I've given him a drinks cup and a bendy spoon to play with seeing as everything goes in his mouth. When he is "on target" and sitting nicely, I'll think about introducing solids. But am going to stick to home made purees, or sticks of food. I'm going to avoid sugary things and processed foods.
Where can I buy ice cube tray-like things with seals/caps? Any recommendations?

Have had a good chat with DP and have some of it figured out. Thankfully it seems that the largest of the bills is for a years worth of council tax for our old house. So council have said if we can prove we were not living there during the time they are trying to charge us for then we don't have to pay. This is the one linked to bailiffs so hopefully its not going to come to that now.

Still does not explain why DP ignored the letters and did not tell me about them. Would have been much easier to sort if he hadn't let it get to this point. There is more but for much smaller amounts so dealable with.

Anyone hope everyone gets sleep tonight.

MissRee · 17/04/2012 21:45

Oi scour any local pound shops. I got a pack of four freezeable and microwavable weaning pots for £1! They may only last 5 minutes but we shall see.

I've got loads of baby bargains in our local pound shop. I got an uber cute plastic bib and matching plastic floor sheet, Disney teething rings, a rubber weaning bowl and mat (so it doesn't skid around all over the highchair top) and Cow & Gate baby porridge! They also sometimes have Nuby soothers and johnsons products in there.

The only thing I'd check with pots etc is that they're BPA free.

MissRee · 17/04/2012 21:47

That's a relief BJR! Councils are the worst for sending bailiffs out due to the amount of people who try to dodge it. Maybe DP needs reminding that he's not an ostrich and burying his head in the sand isn't the best way to deal with things Grin

Figgygal · 17/04/2012 21:49

Oi I saw boots had weaning trays with lids when was there the other day.

I gave LO baby rice over the weekend he was ok with it but going to not give any more yet and see how we get on with milk only. He is 17 wks on Thursday and I go back to work at 26 wks so think 20 wks will be the latest for us to start as doesn't seen fair for the childminder to have to take on that responsibility.

seven77 · 17/04/2012 22:00

BJR hope you manage to get things sorted out.

northern our bottle warmer takes around 2-3 minutes to heat an 8oz bottle. It's an Avent digital one I bought when DS was a baby but it still works fine, much easier than boiling the kettle or faffing with flasks in the night, and the temperature is almost always spot on.

MissRee · 17/04/2012 22:16

Ah that's quicker than the tommee tippee one I was looking at which quoted 5 minutes from room temp (20 degrees)!

Figgygal · 17/04/2012 22:16

I shall confess to not only making bottles in advance and keeping in fridge but also heating them in the microwave Blush. I had a bottle warmer it flash boiled every bottle I tried so just gave up in end.

MissRee · 17/04/2012 22:21

Figgy I also pre-make my bottles and store in the fridge. I'm firmly of the belief that if you use 70 degree or more water and bin them after 24 hours then it's fine. My HV also agrees with me Grin

CherryBlossom27 · 17/04/2012 23:19

MissRee thanks for the tip, I'll have a look in poundland next time I'm in town!

Figgy I also make up my bottles in advance and put them in the fridge. I make up the bottles first thing in the morning and last thing at night, so they're used within 12 hours. I don't think I could handle making up a bottle at a time on top of everything else!

aethelfleda · 17/04/2012 23:35

I got some of these from a £1 shop, misree, and they lasted forever! If yours are good go back and buy several, as once past weaning the small sizes are great for snacks like raising, mini biscuits, half grapes, and home-made jelly and desserts.

We used "weaning cubes" (get them from NCT shop or ebay.) though a normal ice cube tray works Ok too- just bash out the food cubes into a tupperware container with a lid once they are frozen.

Past my bedtime! Night all...
