Makes a night mare buying mothers day cards because they all say mum or mummy, sounds daft I know but im not mummy im mammy!

There was uproar here when our local paper decided to start printing mum instead of mam - people were not very happy at all

AnAirOfHope · 04/04/2012 08:46

Another ranty me me me post sorry:

So in September everyone was worried about the big cold snowy winter so i went out and got Air skiwear but then no snow i was a bit upset. NOW i have got Hope 12 new sun dresses that are just so cute and its snowing Confused Angry

Hope was up alot last night feeding so maybe a growth spurt. I'm another one that needs lots of coffee today. Think i will have a chilled out DVD day at least its warm in here and i can sit down and feed Hope. I guess it will be mater's tall tails, cars and cars 2 then tangled for me and hope Smile inbetween calls to doctors, repair man and dentist.

Thanks for the link Aethel i have hayfever too so i think i'm allergic to ragweed. Its good to have an idea of what i'm allergic too. At my mums there were loads of conifers and i was so ill then the cut them all down and i was alot better. Hayfever is one of the reasons i live in a builtup area - less living things to be allergic too. I find Benadryl the best brand for me but i cant take it when breastfeeding Sad

Welcome Newt

Passes coffee to LMF

msbuggywinkle · 04/04/2012 09:09

air you need some bamboo yarn in your life! it is lovely stuff, warm and soft and has good eco credentials too which is nice.

BJR hope you got some sleep and that lo is lots better this morning.

This morning I am drinking a pint of coffee and attempting to organise a disorganised bunch of hippies via text.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 04/04/2012 09:20

Morning Ladies,

Sky was up all night screaming which is really unlike her. When she finally drifted off and woke this morning she was full of smiles! so very tired.com.

NorthernChinchilla · 04/04/2012 09:25

Looky, there's an actual- as opposed to imaginary- woolly mammoth on the TV, how exciting!

Got loads to do over the next two days, from planting out to cake baking, to finance stuff, etc, before friend arrives. Think I'll go off to get the cake tins and remnants of the shopping list today, and perhaps plant out so I can water things in heartily before the sodding hosepipe ban kicks in. I have been good and invested in drought-resistant plants this year.

I'm so sorry to hear things are still grim for you and your LO BJR, that sounds pretty miserable. Glad the doctor wasn't concerned, but definitely keep an eye on him as the runs are much tougher on babies.

And glad there's a perky little bum being laughed off LMF, despite the double explosion Grin!

I don't know whether it's just your posting, but you sound like you're coping well with a rotten situation hawthers. At least if there are good bit between the bickering then there's something to work with?

I'm a clicky, hypermobile person Gee; my DM is the same and the doctors have said they think it's Elhers-Danlos syndrome (Bob knows sp?). I'm going to keep an eye on DS, but it's not caused me too many problems.

Hope it's going to be a good day for us all, and that mainlining coffee has helped those who have had crappy nights...

NorthernChinchilla · 04/04/2012 09:26

Ah MsB, that brings back memories! Trying to round up disorganised hippies after a party so we could get home was the best instance of trying to herd cats I've ever come across!

Good luck Wink.

KateM77 · 04/04/2012 09:32

Had a chaotic start to the day here. DH had to go in early to work. DD and DS woke at the same time. DS was too distracted by DD to feed properly, hen he did a massive poosplosion right up his back and through his clothes. Then when I was in the shower DD decided to climb in with me, fully clothed. I eventually got us all fed and dressed in clean dry clothes, and dropped DD at nursery. It was only once I got there that I realised I'd completely forgotten it's crazy hair day at nursery, so now DD is the only one in her room without crazy hair ,Bad Mummy emoticon>

More poo from the little man, better dash....

LittleMissFlustered · 04/04/2012 09:51

Love bamboo, silk and cotton too msb I can't do sheep fibre:(

hawthers · 04/04/2012 10:18

new not waking f anymore! I gave up going it for av experimental week and he gained the same amount if weight as when I wasn't waking him. It's si much better being woken by f than an alarm.

nc its not all bad at hawthers towers. DH is very stressed with work and not sleeping well and got drenched last night so he wasn't in the best of moods. No need for a chorus of 'leave the bastard' we're generally very happy but coming off the back of 3 very stressful years with children's health and job issues. We both get a but snipety when we are tired.

Had lots of people to name check but can't remember them! Need tea first back later

hawthers · 04/04/2012 10:29

Oops I meant bee not new grrr damn phone

OiMissus · 04/04/2012 11:05

gee my LO's arms/shoulders click sometimes. I don't like it. I'm convinced I damaged him during those first two weeks trying to wrestle him into position to bf him.
Anyone else got a baby with spots? He has red spots/little whit heads around his mouth. All due to sticky breastmilk and constantly putting his hands and anything else in his mouth. Apart from constantly wiping with wipes, is there anything else I can use?
By the way, as he is now 12stone and 6 feet tall (7 feet if you include his hair) he shall no longer be referred to as LO, henceforth he shall be known as BOi. Wink

Morning!

Sympathies for all the night feeds and pooing, same here! Was feeding at 2.15 and 6.40 this morning then dd gets up at 7.20 so that's me up for the day. I'm not one for daytime napping but it could be worse. Ds had a poosplosion yesterday morning which reached his socks then 2 yesterday evening, although we saved his clothes both times by simultaneously whipping his sleepsuit and vest up while throwing him on the changing mat (cat ninja stylee, Lmf?!)

Welcome Newt! Sorry about the wind issues, sure it will improve soon

Kate, your morning sounds horrendous but admittedly did laugh at your dd getting into the shower fully dressed! I'm with you on the nursery event guilt, I'm OCD when reading the newsletter in case I missed a 'dress like a ...' day. Funny thing is, bet our kids don't give a monkey's!

Nothern, I seriously need you in my garden! I want to be green fingered but I haven't the confidence and I get anxious about getting dirty

Hawthers, I think bickering is to be expected when you have the extra stress of lack of sleep, work issues and new child to integrate into family life - I think storing it up is actually more harmful in the long run. Dp and I definitely bicker/argue more than we used to but still have plenty of laughs and good times

DSM, hope you get chance to put your feet up today!

Air, I'm with you on the crazy weather! I'm layering the kids up because refuse to spend anymore on winterwear! Hope your ds gets to wear his skiwear now :)

Talking of trying to get mammy in cards etc, whenever I buy a card for my biomum, I have trouble finding ones without soppy verses about how wonderful they have been throughout my life etc. I went to live with dad when I was 3 and didn't see much of her growing up. We're ok now but I'm not going to pretend iyswim? Totally off subject, sorry!

Happy belated birthday, Seven!!

Have a great day all, hopefully out of this horrible weather!

Rashkakeller · 04/04/2012 11:16

Oi, my ds has zits too. Red and white ones. We're trying for blue next as I'm very patriotic (not!)

If he's not being sick in himself then he's getting sprayed in the face with bm!! I think wipes might be quite drying though, possibly exasperating the problem? I would recommend a damp flannel, although I'm not expert

Rashkakeller · 04/04/2012 11:19

Exacerbating - not exasperating !!

GeeandTee · 04/04/2012 11:23

As far as I know there is no hypermobility in the family. Hopefully she is just clicky like lmf :)

Oi I would probably use a bit of water and cotton wool as the chemicals in the wipes might irritate and make it worse. DD sometimes gets spots around the mouth. It can be from dribbling or just your hormones if you are bfeeding.

YBR · 04/04/2012 11:52

gee my LO's joints click too. I just supposed it's a feature as my joints click lots. Going to watch out though as I have intermittent wrist probs which may be related, or not.

Foul weather here. So I'm hiding in the loft going through the filing and seeing what to shred this year! DH is trying to prepare some Chemistry coaching with LO's help Wink

NorthernChinchilla · 04/04/2012 11:54

Did she give a reason Kate, or did she just wander in?! Brilliant...

I have to admit being a big lurker on the Relationships board, and given some of the stuff that's on there, you would have to be posting some pretty extreme stuff to qualify for a 'leave the bastard!' hawthers Grin. DP and I squabbled this morning about downloading pictures from camera to laptop, and I find it tends to be the small things that do it. But glad to hear that Hawthers Towers is generally peaceful, though of course a range of fish products will be kept close by for all OHs if needs be!

I've spent the past ten years just chucking things in rashka to see what works, and taking it from there- only practice, enthusiasm and accepting lots of disasters along the way mean that I've got a vague idea of what I'm doing. That and accepting that the soil, aspect and region are actually very important! And I know what you mean about Mothers' Day cards; trying to find anything without Bob-awful slurchy verse is nigh on impossible.

On a mission to find tapioca flour atm, for my cake- may need to do a tour of the Asian foodstores round here, apparently I might get lucky...

MissRee · 04/04/2012 11:55

I have a bit of a TMI question so I apologise in advance.

Since Freya has been born, every time DP and I DTD, I bleed the next day. I am wondering whether it could be the implant I had fitted messing withy hormones but it seems to be worse after sex. I've had 2 proper bleeds since having it fitted at the beginning of February.

Before having Freya, I was lucky if I got 3 periods a year due to PCOS. When I did get them though, they were massively painful and disgustingly heavy. I even bled for a whole year constantly at one point (thank you very much for not doing ANYTHING Bristol NHS). The two bleeds I've had since having the implant fitted have been very light and absolutely pain-free (bliss!).

Should I be worried that I bleed after sex? I had no tears or episiotomy, just "grazes".
I guess I need to speak to my GP, don't I?

Ok so I answered my own question really so double apologies for the TMI EPIC post Grin

hawthers · 04/04/2012 11:55

280g weight gain

That is all

KateM77 · 04/04/2012 12:01

Rash you're right of course, I'm sure DD's not bothered and if I had put her hair up she probably would have pulled it all out again after about 2 mins. However, I'm now making big plans for next week's Easter bonnet to make amends!

LittleMissFlustered · 04/04/2012 12:02

If the epic post helped you sort it out then it's fine:)

I am still tired and grouchy. And i want crisps. It is still raining and I can't decide whether crisps warrant us all getting wet >_<

Going to make another coffee and I'll think about it some more:)

KateM77 · 04/04/2012 12:06

Hawthers that's fantastic! Well done you two

Northern there was no explanation, she just said: "Mummy shower, Jess shower" and walked in. She wouldn't get out either, I had to pick her up and chuck her back in the bathroom. It is pretty funny. With hindsight!

NorthernChinchilla · 04/04/2012 12:11

That sounds marvellous hawthers!
what's 280g in old money Confused?

Shouldn't be the implant MissRee, and if it's after DTD then yes, a trip to the Doctor's.

The image is still making me smile Kate, and bet you had fun dealing with a soaking wet floor and child!
