Good work from mini mopsy and ali on the swimming!! Danny just had his 12 wk jabs and didnt make a peep i think his chubby legs absorbed the pain Grin

Just nipped out for a 1 tog bag for lo from tesco (nowhere else local stocks them) and was very sad to see 3 rails of lovely girls clothes and about 1 rail of naff t shirts for boys. Not that tesco is the pinnacle of baby clothes or anything but made me sad/angry.......boys are definitely 2nd class citizens as far as baby clothes are concerned and not just in tesco Angry. They do though have nice dresses for work bought 2 for the price of my usual m&s ones, didnt actually try them on and bought in pre baby size......fingers crossed.

Bought a cream egg mcflurry as a consolation prize first time in a mcdonalds for years and got a free newspaper so am off to read in garden.

AWomanCalledHorse · 29/03/2012 17:46

Congrats Oi!!

Figgy, we were in Sainsburys earlier and I said to Dh it's the only shop in the world where the boys stuff is better than the girls. If anyone knows somewhere decent to buy boys stuff (he's getting mostly John Lewis atm) don't keep it a secret Grin
Glad Danny & his legs of steel are feeling ok after jabs!

jiggle, we actually needed diesel today, felt like a muppet buying some.

mopsytop · 29/03/2012 18:29

Going home tomorrow and going to see my sister's baby for first time (and vice-versa). Sooooooo excited! Only my parents and one sister have seem minimopsy. The other four siblings haven't yet. She will be the centre of attention!

OiMissus · 29/03/2012 18:39

Have fun tomorrow mopsy!
well done Danny with his legs of steel!

Well, just had a phone call from the estate agent. My viewing with my construction guru uncle tomorrow has to be cancelled because two of the vendor's three boys have mumps. It also means that the valuation/ building survey can't take place for another 7 days either.
Now, am I cynical, or would you expect a teacher to get his kids immunised against mumps? (he was the carrier and brought it home from school)

hawthers that?s great news about the weight gain and sleep, not so great about ?D?H

DSM hope the party went well

LMF pleased to hear about the referral, fingers crossed she works her magic on Edward too

mopsy well done, that?s the hardest part over with. Have fun with your family tomorrow.

Oi congrats on the mortgage application

AWCH I?m liking Next best for boys clothes at the moment. Although that could just be because I am raising a giant baby and their stuff seems to come up biggest! I got some good bits in Sainsbury?s too.

At Rhyme Time today we had to sing Happy Birthday to a little girl called Liberty-Bell. WTF??!

CherryBlossom27 · 29/03/2012 19:19

Figgy - omg! How are you managing to feed every two hours? That must be really hard work for you. DS is 14 weeks on Saturday and weighs 15lbs 8oz, I thought that was heavy :) are you getting back ache from lugging little one around too?

DS is guzzling 260mls / 9oz bottles every 4 hours, I've had to reintroduce the 2am feed as he's waking up in the night hungry! Shocking amount of milk!

This may seem odd but does your LO pee a lot too? I can do a nappy change once an hour in the daytime!

hawthers · 29/03/2012 19:58

H & m good for boys clothes. Typing one thumbed so can't post much

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 29/03/2012 20:18

Congrats Oi

Party went well, so glad her birthday is only once a year. Darcie got lots of lovely gifts& lots of money. Her best gift was a One Direction Harry Doll. She's got more to come as it's her actual birthday tomorrow.

My Sky is quite poorly - is whistling when she breathes Sad keeping a close eye on her.

AnAirOfHope · 29/03/2012 20:26
Smile

Happy birthday Darcie xx

aethelfleda · 29/03/2012 20:46

Evening all.

DH working late. Kids asleep. Planning to pump some milk for the growing pile in the top drawer of freezer. Then earlyish night I think.

Last day of school term tomorrow!!

Mmmmcheese · 29/03/2012 21:32

We've been on holiday and not read the papers/watched TV so didn't know about the petrol problems and we started a 3 hour drive with less than a quarter tank - oops! Had to try 3 petrol stations before found one that had any petrol and at the third the owner said they would run out within the hour. So thankful we managed to fill up! Getting stuck without petrol with 2 kids in the back would not be fun.

DD did the biggest ever pooplosion today after 5 days of nothing. It was literally 5 mins before we left on our car journey, thank bob!

I do understand the temptation to wean at 4 months but I am dteremined to make it to 6 months. Also, if you think about it, if you fill them up with baby rice/fruit/veg purees they actually have less calories imn them than milk so I don't understand how it is meant to help babies be less hungry?

I seem to be experiencing the opposite of most of you as DD had been feeding every 2-3hrs in the night but has gone 5-6 hours the last 2 nights. Hope it lasts! She's on 98th centile now, up from 50th at birth, but all the night feeding has been killing me!

hawthers glad you can get some more sleep and got good advice from the dietician.

LittleMissFlustered · 29/03/2012 21:42

Oi I've heard of a fair few teachers who don't 'do' immunisations for various reasons. I didn't get my (doctors unsure of contraindications, not indecisive mum) until I was 11 and I had just about everything going as a child. I hated it:(

Forgot to mention that weight has gone up to 11lb 14.5oz, which means he is still gaining but it has slowed down, as his chart shows he's drifting back toward the 9th. I'm not too bothered though, as he is feeding well, and you can't expect a man poorly sprog to show consistency:)

Off to bed now, tired tired tired. like aethel I'm counting down to 15:15 tomorrow and two weeks with few demands on our time. Going to put the leg back on the trampoline and utilise the not rainingness of it all. There m at be a park visit or three and a trip to the seaside too. But not until at least Wednesday:)

Sleep well.

Figgygal · 29/03/2012 21:50

Mmm has your hv said anything about LO being up at 98th from 50th, mine had cats bum face on tuesday with Danny being at 98th from 91st.........made me feel great!!

Cherry yup he wees a lot yet we usually only have 1 poo a day. I suppose I'm just in the routine now of such regular bottles am used to it though since he has gone up to 240ml bottles at the weekend i have managed some 3 hrly feeds which is quite a bit of progress as far as im concerned. Hes definitely eaten less the last few days so hopefully his weight gain will slow down.

We taking him to Pil tomorrow for them to show him off to some of their friends, thank god he makes small talk easy Grin

Mmmmcheese · 29/03/2012 22:08

I've not had her weighed at HV clinic yet as have seen paeds for unrelated issue and they weigh her there. The consultant didn't say anything except "she's gaining well"! But then she is bfing so maybe the worry is when they gain a lot on formula? I'm not sure. Can you overfeed a bf baby?!

seven77 · 29/03/2012 22:20

oi congrats on the mortgage, very exciting!

dsm hope Darcie had a wonderful party.

msb forest school sounds awesome, I'm gutted there's nothing like that round here. Though starting an education diary has shown me that DS spends more time playing outside than I realised so I'm quite happy.

figgy you're right about boys clothes, it used to really wind me up when DS was a baby.

Bad day here today with both DC's and DH being grumpy. I've cheered myself up with wine and a toffee crisp :o.

DS has his annual appointment at Great Ormond Street tomorrow, we're leaving at 8.30 for an appointment at 12. I hate going, last time we were spoken to like idiots, though I know it's necessary.

hawthers · 29/03/2012 23:38

seven sorry gosh are rude. Hope they buck their ideas up this year and remember you are people not just parents!

Ah yes getting worked up about crappy boys clothes - well i've certainly never shouted at the manager of Brixton mothercare over this subject, no siree not me Blush

aethelfleda · 30/03/2012 06:56

did anyone else get some sleep? I really do hope so...
DS was brilliant last night and I got 7 hours sleep for first time ever. Thanks Bertie, I'll count that as a late mothers day present!

Mopsy, the tradition is "you can't overfeed a bf baby", my friend made Gold Top and her child was off the 100th centiles and weighed 22lb by 6 months...

Good luck with GOSH , seven....

hawthers · 30/03/2012 07:08

12 to 6.30 I'll take that.

OiMissus · 30/03/2012 07:54

Morning, we were up every couple of hours again. I tried nappy changing, changing bedding (out of grobag), cuddling/rocking, but he just wanted to feed, feed, feed.

OP posts:
Mmmmcheese · 30/03/2012 08:06

DD went 7.30 to 2am with a couple of settles, then a loooooong feed, then didn't feed agaim unyil 7.30am so feeding-wise it was brilliant.

BUT I was awake from 1.30am expecting her to wake up, then it took an hour and a half to feed and (fail to) wind her, then was awake until 4.30am as she very unusually did a poo and then wriggled and grizzled due to the wind I couldn't get out. Got DH up to help and we ended up putting her on her tummy and she went straight to sleep! I hate putting her on her tummy, am so scared of SIDS but it is seriously the only way she will sleep after the night feed. We have an Angelcare monitor but am still scared...

DH has the day off today so we wiLl go out to lunch and I'm hoping to buy some jeans that fit my post-baby thighs!

CherryBlossom27 · 30/03/2012 08:10

Ugh! I'm shattered! OiMissus I think we had similar nights! I think they're meant to be having a growth spurt at 4 months so explains the hunger!

Mmmmcheese yes as far I know know you can't over feed a breast fed baby, that is a big weight gain though from 50th to 98th, little one is obviously enjoying the milk which is good :)

On the subject of solids, I do want to hold off as long as possible, but realistically I think I'll see how I feel in another 3 weeks (DS will be 17 weeks then) and see what to do. I did start a thread on how much formula to give, and saying how my mum is horrified that we haven't introduced solids yet! my brother and I were both under 7lbs at birth and mum introduced solids at 14 weeks with both of us (the advice then was to wait til babies were 4 months, but if baby was really hungry 3 months would be ok).

A family friend is in her eighties and she thinks we're all bonkers as the advice for her babies was give them solids ASAP! E.g. Days after being born introducing smooth stuff! Not great, but then they gave them whiskey etc to sleep too didn't they! She also gave her great grandson some ice cream at about 4 months and he absolutely loved it! I wouldn't go that far, I was thinking of baby rice, carrots and pears etc.

CherryBlossom27 · 30/03/2012 09:04

My other thought about early weaning as I know milk has more calories and it provides everything a baby requires but...I think it passes through them quickly as its a liquid. This is probably why introducing solids isn't recommended as its harder for babies to digest.

A Big Mac meal from McDonalds has god only knows how many calories, but it doesn't fill me up for very long!

Also, talking to my mum and she says she remembers when the guidelines were changed, and she said it was to do with avoiding childhood obesity? She also said she knew people who weaned early as solids like baby rice were cheaper to buy than formula milk and kept the baby fuller for longer, and this is another reason why guidelines were changed in her opinion, as the solids should be in addition to the milk, not a substitute, and changing the guidelines would help prevent this substitution from happening.

msbuggywinkle · 30/03/2012 09:07

Morning! Ok ish night here, Miri up once, DD2 up once. DD1 was exhausted from tree climbing yesterday, she is nearly 6 but the size of an average 3yo so it is hard work keeping up with her friends.

Have to share this where it will be appreciated...DD1 has a crush on Hank McCoy (X-men, the Beast). She has been nattering about how if he met her they would fall in love Grin

I also have a friend who made rocket fuel, her DD was 7lb something at birth and 21lb at 6mths! She is taller than DD1 now and she has only just turned 3!

Re clothes - my DDs have as many boys' clothes as girls'. DD1 loves red so we tend to choose based on colour rather than gender. I like bright colours on DC, can't be doing with all of that pastel.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 30/03/2012 09:19
