Welcome back everyone!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Chulita · 11/05/2012 08:11

wss S is the same re naps, it's best if he grabs a short one in the car/pushchair cos it gives him the energy to finish the day but also go down quite quickly. I enjoy the long naps at lunch, it gives me time either just with B or on my own Shock but it's not best for him.

So last night S climbed out of his cot, his sides are off and he spent a good deal of last night crawling into L's bed and getting wailed at Grin They finally went quiet around 9.45pm and yet he was still up at 6am, crazy boy is going to be a nightmare!

memphis I like the sound of a day out alone!

I need to find our 0-6 grobags, I've no idea where they are but it's about time I put B in one rather than wrapping him in blankets, it got down to 16 degrees in our room last night and he woke up cold and wouldn't resettle for aaaaages. I'm also going to pop him in his own room I think cos I've ended up co-sleeping (our 1st that actually wants to co-sleep) with DH downstairs and as much as I love having our littlest close by, I don't like this arrangement at all. I don't think B will go easily though, 2 nights ago he cried for ages til eventually I snuggled in bed with him and I could have sworn he grinned a smug grin as he fell asleep.

Woodlands · 11/05/2012 08:46

Urgh, bad luck Chulita, at least when J is awake till 9 or later he then sleeps till 8 or so in the morning! He hasn't napped for the last two days, grr. He should nap today as he was up at 7am and is at nursery all day and he usually sleeps there. My parents are looking after him for the day tomorrow as DH and I are going on this Mumsnet Waitrose Cookery School product test thing we got picked for, so he probably won't nap then either...

viksam · 11/05/2012 22:22

Hello, rat shit here, f is a nightmare! Last two nights he's been up for hours for no apparent, reason, doesn't want feeding isn't unhappy just wants to chat or cry if u put him back down, wouldn't even settle in the spare bed with me. I'm beyond knackered and just now he's refused his dream feed, I fried for ages untill he was getting frustrated in his sleep and I didn't want to wake his totally so he hasn't fed since about 5.30 as he refused his 7 pm feed too
God knows what sort of night in heading in to and dh is away so its all on me. I had a sort of mini breakdown I think last night and dh had to come in and take over as I couldn't handle it any more, can't wait till morning!Sorry to be so self indulges
I'll catch up with everyone when its light and I feel sane again!

Chulita · 11/05/2012 22:54

Viks, keep posting matey, we don't mind! Goodness knows i'm in a similar boat. Tonight's the first night with b in his own room so i'll be up half the night and still end co sleeping...
Could f be having a growth spurt d'you think?
Memphis how today in the end?
Woodlands I am mega jealous of your day tomoz, hope you have a brilliant time!
Mlisc it's even quieter with you at work, I don't like it

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 12/05/2012 18:59

Just home from docs. W has a chest infection and infection both ears, left worse than right. I'd bet my bottom dollar that he has tonsillitis too but he wouldn't let the doctor look and he said it didn't matter because he needed antibiotics anyway so no need to stress him out by forcing him to open his mouth. His temp was 39.9 at the docs :(

Woodlands · 12/05/2012 20:12

oh crikey mlisc, sorry to hear that but glad they found what was wrong. hope antibiotics clear it all up soon.

chulita and vik, hope you had OK nights.

J woke at 5am and wouldn't go back to sleep... at least it meant he napped for my parents, quite early, so he has gone to bed nice and early tonight.

The day today was fantastic! Really enjoyed it. Lots to learn, lots of nice food and wine.

WhatSheSaid · 12/05/2012 21:07

Hope W is better soon mlisc

and glad you enjoyed your day woodlands

vik I know I've said it before but hang on in there, it'll get better. The first few months are just a slog sometimes.

It's Mothers Day here and I have been very spoiled with 3 cards, flowers, chocolates, a new radio (which I asked for as I needed a new little portable one to take round the house and into the garden), a lie in and breakfast in bed.

viksam · 14/05/2012 10:09

chu how did it go for B in hos cot? What are your nights like? Are u taking him into your bed at all.
I kind of wish i had done that a bit more with D when he was young as he will not settle in our bed at all even when he is poorly like last night. He has Hand, foot and mouth and impetigo around his mouth, nightmare. He seems ok today but the last few days with mom and dad here have been a mare, soooooo clingy and crying loads, poor boy, i feel bad now though cos i just thought he was being a pita didnt think he was poorly untill the spots came out although he went to the osteopaths on friday and i did wonder if he was out of sorts due to that. The last few nights have been a
wfull for him, really crying on and off for hours, i tried loads of things even getting into his cotbed ala mylife!! but he just doesnt settle with me there, in the end, because he wasnt crying when i was there, i told him off (bitchbags!) and he went to sleep after that.
In other news i have decided to put F on solids, hes 19 weeks and i really think he is ready, he has had baby rice for the last two days at 11am and for the last two nights he has had his dream feed and then stept through!!!!!!waking at 5.15 on sun and 6.15 this morning, cant be just coincidence.....can it?
wss mothers day sounds lovely, hope u slept when you had your lie in!!
mylife hows W now? Hope the anti b's are kicking in! Hows life settling down with your new routine?
woodlands glad you had a nice day, did you learn anything new?
memphis did you enjoy your night out?
Whats everyone got planned this week, im going to have to cancell mine due to infactious boy!!!TUT!!

memphis83 · 14/05/2012 14:59

viks Hope D feels better soon, We never let L into our bed except to watch Postman Pat in the morning and even if we wanted him in to make our lives easier he wont, sometimes I wish he did but then I worry that I would let him in everynight if he did and then I wouldnt sleep.
My night out was ok, Im really down at the moment, I keep crying I feel really unloved and out of sorts and I feel like a horrid mother, everyone keeps saying little things that are pissing me off, FIL said Ls hair is a mess and should have a crew cut (mil said the same a few weeks before) DH told him to never say it in front of me.
MIL told me L should be out of nappies now, and everytime I try and tell him not to do something in her house she sayd 'he can do what he wants' eeer no he cant you silly bint!
My mum thinks im too hard on him as I expect him to be well behaved but she thinks its ok for him to holler and shout in shops to get people attention and I think he should be reined in, she also told me off for smacking his hand as I bought him a new book and he opened it and pissed on it so I told him off (he did it on purose not started weeing as he walked by)
And then in Boots I was printing off pics and he took one from the draw after it printed and screwed it up so I said its naughty to do that and an old lady said no he isnt then offered him chocolate! I said, what he did was naughty and he will be told and keep your sweets to yourself I was so angry.
Sorry for the rant im just pissed off with everything at the moment.

DesperateHousewife21 · 14/05/2012 16:45

Hi everyone

I haven't posted in aaaages so thought I'd catch up as best I could.

Hope you are all doing ok.

I had my scan on fri, all is well :) will be booking my private scan for a few weeks time so we can find out the sex- exciting!

OP posts:
MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 14/05/2012 18:33

I'd have done the same memph - we were in the pharmacy on Sat and the woman behond the counter said 'can he have a sweetie?'. She didn't wait for my answer and started to open the box! I said no he can't, but thank you for offering I don't let them have sweets at all or chocolate very often and when they get it, they get it on my terms.

Tell them he's your son and if they can't respect your/dh's parenting decisions then you won't take him round. Simples. My mil is a bit like that (won't accept no if I say they can't have/do something) so we don't go round very often at all. Her loss, not mine.

Sorry about D's HF&M vik :(

My work is going well thanks - I drop ds1 off at school, walk back home then drop ds2 off at nursery on my way in and at work for 9.15. I leave about 4.45 and am off on a Wednesday. DS1 was crying on a morning saying 'I want you to pick me up from school, not nursery' for a lot of last week which made me a bit upset but he seems to be quickly getting used to it. No tears today or Friday

And as for our LOs out of nappies. Hahahahahahahahahaha is all I'll say to that Wink

Woodlands · 14/05/2012 18:43

Yes, the till lady in Homebase bent down and offered J a white chocolate mouse the other day without even checking with us first. I didn't mind but what if he'd had allergies or something? Shamingly, he ate it and then kept saying 'More? More?'. Rude child...

Quarantine sucks Vik, bad luck!

Hooray for the scan going well dh, great news!

We're off on our holiday tomorrow, can't wait! still dreading the flight - I have loads of little toys and snacks and things for J but I know he'll just want to run around and have a tantrum when I won't let him. Ah well, it won't last forever.

viksam · 14/05/2012 20:33

memphis Ur defo not a bad mother, i dont think any of us are. Its only natural to doubt yourself but really it sounds like you are just being very firm with him and at this age i think thats necessary as they are trying to push so many boundarys. I said to mom and dad before they came down to be prepaired for some crying as D gets told in no uncertain tearms whats what. As for stupid people who dont respect your authority with your own child, well i know i would fall out with them regularly.
mylife sounds like you have it all worked out and its going well, im dreading those teary nursery drop offs, i'll be droping both off too, its gona be hell.
woods i bet the flight wont be as bad as you think, just dont sweat it if he wants to walk around, im sure people wont mind. Have a fab time!
cake ur pics are ace, they both look so sweet, Lady A is good at putting clothes on, D couldnt manage that at all.
dh great news! When are u due?
chu u ok?
D hasnt been too bad today, fingers crossed for a better night, it took DH a while to get him settled but hes been ok since, can you imagine if they both slept through..............i wonder if that will ever happen????

Meal plan:
M- Cheesy leek pasta
T- Spaghetti bolognaise
W- Chilli and rice
T- Chicken casserole
F- Kedgeree
S - Sausage and mash
S- Roast chicken

viksam all good here, just very busy and I'm trying to make the most of the time with the children since most of the time I'm feeding and fending so I'm making an effort to play with them a bit more when I can. Hope D picks up soon, sounds painful for him. B's ok in his cot til about 5am when I bring him in with me mainly cos I just can't stay upright to feed at that time, still on 4 wakings a night which is hardcore at the mo but hopefully he'll settle down soon and not be like the other 2!

tsc glad the holiday went well and the house survived. I can't wait to start running again but can't just yet due to cluster feeds til about 8.30pm!

woodlands hope you have a lovely holiday!

memphis how did the talc clean up? Grin and tell people where to shove it re L, he's your boy, you decide. I always get people 'aww'ing when S has a tantrum (all the time in other words) and I tell them not to pity him cos he's in a strop. It doesn't help him to be hearing "poor love, just let him have it", as if that'll solve the problem...

dh great news on the scan, glad all's good!

mlisc I'm sure E will settle soon, any change throws them for a bit but they're very adaptable at this age thank goodness :)

DesperateHousewife21 · 15/05/2012 17:42

viksam · 16/05/2012 06:49

tsc so glad you had a good holiday any that your feeling more yourself, i cant wait for me to come back again!
chu that does sound hard core, you must be exhausted.
Well i have been up most of the night with F, hes really struggling with trapped wind and wouldnt lie down, feed or sleep unless on me. Its sooo uncomfortable, i wish i had the balls to put him down on his front, im sure he would be more comfortable. Hes sat on my lap now grunting and wriggling and yawning poor baby, hes getting the occasional windypops out but nothing much, i have given him gripe water but dont know what else i can do really. Im giving him baby rice at 11am since saturday and i put a tiny bit of pear in it yesterday, i wonder if thats caused it?
D has slept through two nights in a row, i wonder if we are reaping the effects of the osteopath? hes covered in spots and his face looks awfull, another day of quaranteen for us then!

meal plan-
mon-pizza and garlic bread
tues-curry and nann
wed-saus and mash (chips for dh)
thurs-chicken and bacon and salad
Fri-potato skins and salad

yep now wonder we are fat!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 16/05/2012 07:44

I feel more 'me' again too tsc. I will go into details on the fb group about the job though and explain why

Have also 'upped' my exercise - did a zumba wii class Saturday and Sunday, nothing Monday but then last night instead of just taking the dogs on the field and throwing the ball a million times I did that first, went round the field twice and then took them for a walk. Which I hate because they're crap on the lead and like to run so they pull all the time, but I did it anyway and got home just before the heavens opened at 9pm!

No work today. Being off on a Wednesday is actually great. Although I'm already thinking about al the things on my desk that need doing Hmm

wss are you still low carbing? Have you got any recipe inspiration for me? Breakfasts and lunches are pretty sorted but we're getting bored of evening meals. (Doesn't help that we can only have chicken or quorn Sad)

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 16/05/2012 07:45

Oh, and I have a free pass for zumba at the gym tonight so will go there tonight too :)

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 16/05/2012 20:51

where the chuff is everyone??????????? Confused

WhatSheSaid · 16/05/2012 21:10

I'm just having breakfast!

I'm not doing too well on the low carbing, it's the bloody home made bread - so tempting.

When I do stick to it I tend to just do "normal" meals but with the pasta/potato/bread removed from it.

Both of mine have bad colds so am keeping A off pre-school today. Not much other news.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 16/05/2012 21:30

I'm lucky in that dh is doing it with me to kick start his training. Therefore I am not making any bread and all I do is buy a loaf for the kids and freeze it, using slices as and when I need them. I really don't miss bread. Just crisps Grin The 'not so lucky' bit of dh doing it with me is the fact that he will only eat chicken I have actually caved today and ordered a recipe book (bloody amazon is lethal isn't it?!?!)

Made mushroom soup for dh to eat while I was at Zumba and I had pork loin with creamy cabbage and courgettes for my tea when got in with a pint of dh's homebrewed lager

W is a bit better today but even at the park this afternoon he was 'carry' the whole time

memphis83 · 16/05/2012 22:15

Im still here but as no one else is i dont want to fill the thread with my misery! Got work tomorrow my dad has L all day so im aprehensive as their kids live on crappy processed snacks so im sending L with lots of food. He still wont eat lunch but has a mega breakfast and would eat yoghurts and pureed fruit all day if i let him...which I dont btw! He is obsessed with cake, his face lights up when he sees it and says caaake niiice but he doesnt like it, very amusing and more cake for me!
