Welcome back everyone!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
memphis83 · 06/03/2012 19:12

chulita did dh get back earlier tonight? has the pain gone off?

Thanks both for advice on buttermilk, its for a new recipe for a double choc cake for dh's birthday!

L is in bed, coughing like a smoker, his eyes are streaming again too....but a tooth on the bottom I can now actually see through the gum so it better pop tomorrow!

We have been gardening, digging out the flower bed and smoothing it for them both to dig a massive hole in it! then came in to see L covered in mud eating a biscuit, his hands were black, so guessing he ate some mud! Grin
DH has been doing 16 hour days eventhough he is working away so hoping he comes home in a good mood or im keeping his pressie for myself!

Chulita · 06/03/2012 19:31

Nope, DH is still at work having left at 6.30 this morning. Not.Happy.

Hope the cake turns out delicious!

memphis83 · 06/03/2012 19:49

I hope so too, if I make it tomorrow it will be ok for Friday wont it? im working Thursday so cant do it then?
Hope dh is home soon, do you think he will change jobs soon or is it out of the question?

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 06/03/2012 19:50

How's the pain chul?

I made Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall's curried sweet potato soup for tea and it is gorgeous! I was worried dh wouldn't be so keen as I think it has a thai undertone to it and he hates thai food, but he thought it was lovely too so will defo be making that again!

Chulita · 06/03/2012 20:10

It'll probably even taste better on Friday, DH always says my chocolate cakes taste fudgier after a day or two.

The pain's still there but only if I stand up for longer than 3-4 mins so I'm spending the evening sitting down Grin I'm having near constant tightenings as well so I think it's going to be paracetamol and bed for me soon.

DH should be home in about 15 mins, tea's reheating. He'd love to leave soon but realistically it's not going to happen, he needs to see out another 2 years to be eligible for his current rank's pension so we're tied to that at least and then we'll see what the climate's like.

I hate sweet potato/parsnip/butternut squash soup. I like the veg but I can't stand sweet soups. DH loves them though so I make them anyway

Chulita · 06/03/2012 20:17

Having a little mini-panic cos have suddenly realised I can't find any of my baby blankets. I'm going to need to swaddle the little monster so he can't scratch the life out of me but can't get to the shops before he gets here...argh! Stupid house move has thrown my storage system out the window!

memphis83 · 06/03/2012 20:26

mlic does your dh just have the soup? if I gave dh soup and bread he would think its a starter! I like soup but never ever make it.
chulita can you order some off of ebay, amazon or things like that if you dont know where they are?
L is coughing so much he has thrown up, I have no more cough medicine as I dropped a whole bottle last week! feel really bad as I should have picked some up and I cant go and get some now!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 06/03/2012 20:49

He had three thick slices of bread with butter. I didn't have any.

We have got into the habit of eating too much on an evening so it is a conscious decision of ours to reduce evening meal sizes atm.

Chul can I post you anything? I only have two of the boys' blankets left and want to keep them, but can happily go to a shop for you and get anything you'd like?

Chulita · 06/03/2012 21:06

Thanks mlisc, that's really kind of you! Mothercare have a sale on so I've just found some I like and ordered them and if they're ok I might get a couple more off ebay or somesuch. It's just nice to potter round and see what they actually look/feel like but I'm sure these will be fine. My ones were suffering a bit after refluxy, vomitty baby S so probably doesn't hurt to treat B to some new ones!

memphis S has done the same, we've both got the same cold so I know how he feels!

I'm with you on portion sizes, that's my biggest problem I think. I cook most stuff quite healthily but just eat far too much of it.

viksam · 06/03/2012 21:17

You see mylife this is what makes me mad about my dh, he would never even dream of even tasting that let alone have me serve it up to him. He is such a selective eater and its really held me back wrt learning to cook proper things.
chu glad S is lovely again, its such a shame when they are horrid for ages then change, it makes you realize what your missing.
D has been ok again today, hes eaten well and his poo wasnt so bad, still bad but not watery like it has been. For the last few days hes had a giant red cheek but i cant see anything going on and if it were it would have to be those last four molars which he is too young for so god knows.
I still havent got the ironing done!!! D's at the cm tomorrow so i really MUST do it! I fell over today in the garden, proper hands and knees jobby, even though i was in my own garden i was so embarrased! got a huge bruise coming on my knee now :-( div.

viksam · 06/03/2012 21:26

X posted on the last four posts, re blankets chu i know this is bad but i had two away from the hospital with D, they are ace to swaddle in as they are stretchy. The MW saw them and asked if they were hospital ones and my dh said someone gave them to us. I do feel guilty but thay are so good and i have made use of them and I'll really try and take them back when i have finished with them!!

memphis83 · 06/03/2012 22:41

viksam I can imagine you going into maternity ward saying oops sorry I must have taken these by mistake, and ive only just noticed.Grin when F is about 6 months old and them looking at you all Hmm
chulita Im the same with portion sizes, I will do a pasta bake for 4 portions we split it and then have half a garlic baguette each too, we have a joint of meat and split it! we have a packet of biscuits and have to finish it as leaving 4 in the pack seems pointless as its only 2 each!Grin Im not contemplating another baby until I have lost a stone though, so biscuits really need to stop!

L has cried loads already tonight again, and the dog has bug up the flower beds, he was sniffing like mad as I turned the soil so now im wondering if he can smell something buried in there?

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 07/03/2012 09:05

That's like us with portion sizes. I would make a pasta bake for the two of us, plus garlic bread. A whole pack of quorn mince for a spaghetti, plus garlic bread. If I buy a box of 2 (fake) chicken kievs, that will be for one of us, with chips, so I'd have to buy two iyswim It needed to stop. So through the week I'm sticking to soup/salad kinda stuff then will relax it at weekends.

memphis83 · 07/03/2012 09:41

mlic we are the same, we gave our small slow cooker to a friend as hers was too big for just the two of them, but then I bought one bigger than her original one for the two of us Blush maybe I need to look at soup recipes and then he mat eat them as a meal, but when he works away he has a starter and a main and always has soup and has extra bread too as a starter, at the all you can eat on Sunday I ate more than sil and bil together and still walked away wishing I had eaten more (I see all you can eat as a challenge!)
L didnt settle until 5.30am! then dh phoned at 6.50.I.want.to.die

CakeandRoses · 07/03/2012 13:42

just back from my first wed morning working. twas ok actually. felt like i got tons of extra time. A was fine at nursery so i don;t think she even noticed.

she didn't have a nap there so is asleep at home now, F is playing in his room and i'm having a peaceful lunch!

we're big eaters too tho i'm really only like it with veggies and rice/pasta not so much with bread or protein.

sonds like an fuck-awful night memph hope you get a break later

sorry forgot to reply but yy dh is going for the job - is being interviewed on mon. eek!

Chulita · 07/03/2012 14:16

That is an awful night memphis, hope L is well-behaved today and doesn't stress you out too much.

Glad your extra day turned out to be a positive thing cake, fingers crossed for the best outcome for this job and your DH.

viks the only hospital ones I've used were rank so wouldn't have nicked them!

Rant Alert

I've got a hacking cough, completely blocked nose and both dc have the squits. I don't have the stomach to deal with it sensibly so have been heaving over every nappy change/bottom wipe.
I'm also in an incredibly bad mood due to no sleep and cold/headache and other stuff. I just want to have this baby out, the only comfy place to sit is either in the bath or in my nursing chair but then either or both dc have to be swinging on the footstool and crashing it into my shins or sitting on my MDF'd foot Angry I'm debating starting serious contractions tomorrow and getting DH to come home. He's worried if he does they'll take 2 days off his paternity the other end but I doubt they would and I've had enough of this mothering-whilst-pg lark.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 07/03/2012 14:22

I say do it chul

Memph that's horrendous. Hope you can sleep when he naps.

I've just applied for a job I think I'd really like. Cross everything for me please!

Chulita · 07/03/2012 14:29

Consider them crossed for you mlisc

Nursing chair makes me sound like an old woman, bit like bath chair...still, if the hat fits and all that.

I also need a lemon to make some of these and I have no way of getting one til DH gets home. Never has a lemon been so needed.

viksam · 07/03/2012 14:41

Oh chu sounds like you have really reached the end of your teather, i do feel for you. I would get your dh home no matter what, and dont feel bad about it, this doesnt happen very often and YOU NEED SUPPORT, you have done brilliantly and you are at the finish line almost, get him home and enjoy some time as the four of you. Have u got one of those big gliding nursing chairs? id love one of those, i do have a big old fashioned rocking chair that i love but its well creaky, im going to move it into F's room, currently its still in D's room still.
cake good luck to your dh re the job, glad ur morning worked out well.
memphis what.....OMG thats a bad night!
F has been asleep in his moses in his cot like a big boy, hes taken all his naps so far downstairs in the swing. Im really hoping to get him to sleep in his room in the evening asap, just a bit nervous if he cries and wakes D.

memphis83 · 07/03/2012 15:25

chulita I really feel for you, I dont blame you for wanting dh home now, my dh work long hour but from 32 week they keep their taff more local o they arent doing huge amount of hour, its a shame they couldnt let dh do less hours as your so close now.
cakes fingers crossed for your dh on Monday, hope you enjoyed your lunch.
mlic whats the job or is it top secret? hope you get an interview!
viksam we have a glinding chair, I have never used it since I was pg, dh keeps saying to get rid but I cant I wanted one long before I had L!

I have had a total meltdown day, ended up sobbing on the phone to dh, mum and sister, I cant cope with another night with no sleep, he is fine in the day but his teeth ramp up a gear at night, I begged dh to come home tonight, its his b day friday and im worried I will be too tired to have a nice day together, my sister has come over and looked after L so I could have a nice bath as he cried 'bath' everytime I put the taps on last night, mum is coming over at 5 with some cough medicine as I havent been able to leave the house as L has had the cronic shits all day, feel guilty for my rant when you have it so much worse chul :(
we have baby jake on and I am too tired to find remote to turn the annoying little git off!

viksam · 07/03/2012 17:35

memphis I really hope ur mom has got there and your feeling a bit more supported. What do you think had brought L's 'shits' on again, i thought he was doing ok. I hate that baby Jake, nothing to it at all, i hate shit TV like that, in fact we dont have the TV on much at all now apart from when i need to do something like have a shower or something with F then its great cos he takes notice of it and it keeps him nicley occupied.
Today has gone FAR TOO FAST! i have had a lovely day with F, hes absolutly yummy and i cant believe how much i love him to bits. I know i have done a lot of moaning but it really is all worth it when you get a big toothless grin.

Chulita · 07/03/2012 19:15

Yea, I love my glider but toddlers play merry havoc with it!
DH is on duty tomorrow which means he's in early - back late which really isn't good. He doesn't want to 'jack on his workmates' though so no chance unless I actually do go into labour. His work ethic can be highly irritating at times, never gets him anywhere but means he won't take the piss every now and then.

memphis83 · 07/03/2012 19:22

viksam its this tooth I think, but it has finally cut through the gum (still cant actually see it yet though) so im hoping he will settle down again now.
So lovely that you are enjoying F!
chulita get on the clary sage bath and jumping in the trampoline to get yourself started! Grin

Well my lovely mum has come round and taken L home with her! she has him from 6.30 in morning tomorrow anyway, so ive had a chinese and been toilet without someone sitting on my lap Grin so im child and man free and too tired to go party! im going to decorate dh's cake and go to bed!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 07/03/2012 19:26

not like me vik, whose children have watched Cars 4 times today Blush In my defense I had a job application to write which took up two watches and dh had it on twice for them while I was out for a couple of hours tonight. It's not like they sit and watch it constantly so I wasn't bothered, it just gave me a bit of breathing space to concentrate on the form, especially since ds2 didn't nap today.

Chul my dh has worked at the same organisation for erm about 13 years and has never phoned in sick. So I know what you mean.

How you feeling now memph? Is there anyone who could have him overnight to give you a break?

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 07/03/2012 19:27
