Argh are they all conspiring against us? Tough day here too! E has cold and I haven't been able to put him down all day, he's been on the boob pretty much permanently. Will only sleep on me and is obviously feeling poorly, but bless him he still gives me a gorgeous gummy grin whenever he looks at me
Hope everyone gets some sleep but I'm sure we'll all be on here in the wee hours!

hi all! you might remember me from the antenatal thread.i didn't ever post much but followed all the chat avidly. have finally got my head round this new mummy thing again and also caught up on all the posts. god you guys can chat! el is now 12 weeks, quite good really. did not have good night last night though. seems to be a common theme. however , was interestee in what someone said about whit noise. el will only go to sleep with the hairdryer on. was having real problems with him using book as a dummy and refusing to sleep in the cot. now stick him in cot awake and put the hairdryer on and he's asleep within minutes. often wakes up when it goes off though. i use it through the night too:-V. absolutely dreading electricity bill!

supergirl1 · 24/01/2012 20:37

pardon all the typos!new smartphone! ,boob not book! can you imagine! we'd be in the papers!

PenguinArmy · 24/01/2012 20:39

DS is still quite sick here as well. Not loads and he's not uncomfortable with it but we get through a fair amount of bibs (always on) and muslins.

DS wasn't the easiest today, done no big sleeps but far easier than a still bit ill grumpy toddler. We're not potty training until start of summer here.

I would love to do a baby signing course at some point but (i) haven't seen any and (ii) there's the toddler. Related to (ii) we go to one bumps and babies where staff keep an eye on DD for me otherwise it's all toddler stuff.

Scheherezade · 24/01/2012 20:45

Just feeling at my wits end :(

FuzzzyDuck · 24/01/2012 20:48

Aww sch sending you big hugs Sad

PenguinArmy · 24/01/2012 21:09

oh sch it does help to remember it will end. Is DH around tonight?

sassy34264 · 24/01/2012 21:16

well you may all be Envy and hate me Grin but eva slept through last night. and i have no trouble with getting her to sleep during the day. infact, its keeping her asleep that is my problem, as one of the little buggers twins will inevitable pull, prod or kiss her awake. i have hardly ever nursed any of mine to sleep, and twice today eva has cried while i was busy in the kitchen. so ive thought, right, i'll just finish this, do that and then feed eva and both times she's feel asleep before i got to her. honestly she is the sweetest, easiest baby. she's snoring away now next to me and took 2mins to fall asleep. i think she knows being in this room means sleep.

last night didnt go completely swimmingly though as isobel woke up crying about 5 50 times during the night. argh.

put eva on the mat again tonight and it took her literally 2 seconds to flip over. dont think she's interested in being on her tummy anymore!

ive been a crap mummy with regards to the jabs, as eva hasnt had hers at all and twins havent had their 13months ones. was trying to get them done while dp is here, as i had all the twins jabs on my own and it was awful having two babies crying their little hearts out. didnt want to have to face it with eva, but not managed it and they are all being done next fri. got my mum to come to help logistically, but she flatly refuses to go in the room with them. so it looks like me holding them all down again. Sad

ive just read all the posts back and now that im ready to comment on some of them, i cant remember a pigging one, except to say hello to feather
Hmm

sleep is desperately needed. praying they all sleep tonight (mine and yours)

oodlesofdoodles · 24/01/2012 21:19

Not sure where to post this... so trying here.
I'm thinking to get an ergo sling. Should I get the standard ergo, or the ergo sport? The ergo sport says its for taller women (that's me 5'10"), but is it suitable for a titchy tot? She's 12 weeks, vg head control.
I would like to get her on my back asap so I can give the other kids cuddles.

sassy34264 · 24/01/2012 21:21

sorry scheh just seen your post. wasnt being tactless. supergirl was the last post i read before posting.

where are you? is there anyone who lives close enough to meet up with you? im in lancashire.

if you are feeling that way, then i second getting dp to help you. maybe just leave the house for a walk or something?

CheshireDing · 24/01/2012 21:38

Ahh Sassy don't be coming on here with your sleeping baby Grin.

Scheh is C just not going down? I do think they are all growth spurting at the moment, P is feeding for nearly an hour sometimes with less than an hour in between. There will be an end in sight though.

Here's hoping all babies are sound asleep by 10pm (yeah right) and not awake until at least 4.30am (trying to be a little realistic).

sassy34264 · 24/01/2012 21:57

Grin cheshire i know. im bound to get lynched!
she was just squirming around and wouldnt settle so i knew she had wind.picked jer up to burp her and sure enough a big burp but then shes awake and crying.
was thinking, me and my big mouth. decided to turn over and give her some time to cry a bit to see how it pana out and she went back to sleep after a min or two!
i dont feel guilty though and you cant hate me too much cos i have just had a bloody hard time with twins. this is my reward!! Smile
just you watch, she'll probably be a nightmare teenager on the worlds strictest parents when she is 18, or worse............pregnant!

and just to be different (again) i bloody HATE my smartphone. the corrections i have to do cos i have fudge fingers and this make - samsung wave- is shit. i just picked it up then from the night table and it was ringing my exdp! why? how? argghhh.

BB3 · 24/01/2012 21:58

Scheh - you ok lovely?

Hi supergirl

I too have just read everything now can't remember...

Fuzzy I only ever use size one for ds and girls (even when ds was fully ff at 11 months) the others just ended up in guzzling and wind!

Girls are currently tucked up in bed, they still wake at might but go straight back down but they will not sleep in the day.

Sassy Envy at easy babies - to be fair the girls aren't that bad - only when they do tag team tears Grin

Sorry for rubbish catch up, hope everyone's having a good night x

Scheherezade · 24/01/2012 21:58

He missed his morning nap (dog woke him up and then he wouldn't go back down) and.he's been grumpy and overtired ever since.

My doc has given me an ultimatum, take the meds that knock me out so I can't function, stop bf and take meds I know work but can't bf on, or she's admitting me to the m&b unit again :(

It's not even his fault, I've just not established a daytime routine, and the slumber bear is out of batteries. Dp is being wonderful. But he has exams tomorrow.

Spoke to my hv today and have a few things to try.
Sorry for the misery post!

FuzzzyDuck · 24/01/2012 22:03

I know it would be hard for you to stop bf, but maybe C taking a bottle from dp could help you have just a bit of time to yourself? Dont know if your keen to express? Think it's just a difficult time at 4 months Sad

Scheherezade · 24/01/2012 22:04

P.s. sorry for not catching up, I only have a crappy smartphone and there's a lot to read!

Scheherezade · 24/01/2012 22:06

I really don't mind the feeding, its the bedtime screaming 4x a day :( but he's asleep now. He has good days, just when you have 1 bad day It's easy to feel hopeless!

sassy34264 · 24/01/2012 22:15

scheh do you try to put him down for a nap 4 times a day?
i was just thinking that i never put eva down for a nap. she is just in her bouncy chair or lying on the couch and falls asleep when she wants.
just wondering whether he might not be sleepy when you put him down, or whether you trying to follow a routine which he isnt interested in adhering too, maybe causing you to get more stressed ?
ignore me, if none of this is the case.

really should be trying to sleep now (another reason i hate smartphones, i spend hours of sleeptime on them instead)

CheshireDing · 24/01/2012 22:21

Scheh I only have a routine of a couple of hours in the morning.

7am - shower me, bath P
8am - Out with dog and pram
9am - Back home and feed

After fee, hope she has a little sleep (because I read they "usually" sleep every 2 hours).

I did read the fresh air is supposed to re-set the pineal gland and hence make them sleepy. I have no idea if this is bollocks true.

Please do try that Dr bloke/shushing thing, even when it just stops P crying for a minute it gives you silence/time to think. Also what about taking him swimming when he has one of his "days".

Sorry, I am not trying to stick my nose in, and I know bugger all. I am just thinking aloud of things that make P sleepy.

Scheherezade · 24/01/2012 22:25

I put him down when he starts yawning and crying, or if he's fallen asleep feeding. He won't fall asleep on his own in the chair or on the mat, he never has. the 'routine' is his own he follows on good days, up at 8, play till 9.30/10, sleep, up for another 90mins, sleep at 12/1ish, 90 mins play. Feed as and when. It's probably just my fault, but there's so much differing advice, I just want him to sleep with minimal screaming and not having to push the pram for hours and hours.

Just feel like I can't make any decision right.

Scheherezade · 24/01/2012 22:27

I do try the shushing, the only thing that usually helps is singing in the pram. Am going to start putting him in the cot every.time he's tired, and leaving him to cry.

MamaMaiasaura · 24/01/2012 22:32

I don't know if it helps scheh but Jessica hasn't got a routine as such yet.

She generally goes up when I do at 10.30ish settled by 11ish

and then sleeps till around 6 wakes for feed and falls back asleep usually till 8.

We do preschool run or go out somewhere and she may sleep in Carseat. Somedays shell stay asleep others she wakes

Generally come 3/4 she's ready for a snooze depending if she's had one in the day

Definately no fixed nap and I don't try to put her down for one as I think it would end in tears both of us

Did similar with the boys and they found a routine which worked for us all. Too early yet for that with J.

She's really struggling today post imm Sad her leg is so painful she's not feeding much off left boob. Only just realised after going her the right again. I'm gonna try rugby hold.

PenguinArmy · 24/01/2012 22:34

sch honestly some babies are just harder than others with sleep, I'm one of 5 and you should hear how we all differed as babies. You can nudge their direction every so often but don't stress trying to change the unmovable. Even people who do CC/CIO at a young age often have to repeat it over and over again if their babies aren't ready for it.

MamaMaiasaura · 24/01/2012 22:35

Scheh -he's still only little. J doesn't generally sleep anywhere but in my arms either, tho will a bit in pram and car as movement. I know it's hard especially when there are other children to look after but this phase will pass. Honestly. I really wouldn't leave J to cry to sleep, tho if it's gotton to much I have left room to have breather and then returned feeling calmer x

Fleecy · 24/01/2012 22:38

scheh I don't have any advice but having had a terrible sleeper and napper myself with DD1 you do have my sympathy.

DD2 woke last night for the first time in several weeks. She was 16 weeks yesterday. It's like she knows... Her naps are also short at the moment which is a pain because I need to work while she's asleep, little so and so Grin And to add to it, DS got a D&V bug last week so was at home Thurs/Fri, DH got it over the weekend and DD has it today and will also be at home tomorrow. So even when Lara's napping, I still have another one to look after. Might have to work some super late nights at this rate - it's only 3hrs a day or so but hard to find sometimes!
