Brilliant, see you all there!!

Engelsmeisje · 26/01/2012 17:46

Sad supply has dropped right off. don't understand why..M has had the same number of feeds, same length. Boobs have felt pretty empty last few days. Just expressed a feed to see how much was in there and only got 100ml, normally get 150ml.

put him to bed now but wondering if I should use some formula for 10pm feed Confused

not sure what to do.

cheekydino · 26/01/2012 18:08

Engels - have you been eating/sleeping/drinking less? That always used to affect my expressing with ds (am not really expressing often this time round). Good excuse to fill up on cake, cheese and milky drinks.

Pebble - hope doc managed to sort the boob, sounds horribly painful.

Hope the Glaswegians enjoyed their ikea meet! I love going to our ikea for the meatballs (even though it's in a dodgy bit of north London!)

Engelsmeisje · 26/01/2012 18:21

haven't changed my sleeping/drinking habits, but have made a conscious effort not to eat so many biscuits this week - an excuse to stuff my face?! Have also been doing more exercise the last 2-3 weeks so perhaps that has something to do with it...

going to pump before bed and see how much I get. If it's not a full bottle then am going to top up with formula.

M woke up at 1.30 and 3.30 last night, normally he's only up once. Perhaps because he was hungry?

Thanks for giving me permission to eat cheese cheeky Grin

PenguinArmy · 26/01/2012 19:09

engels your body gets good at adapting exactly what it needs. Unless you express every day it's normal for expressing yield to go down. Empty feeling is normal as time goes on as well.

cheekydino · 26/01/2012 19:10

Pleasure Engels Grin!
Am doing the same as realised E stopped sleeping as well around the time I started to eat less (new year resolution!) so am experimenting by pigging out Grin. She has slept through again the last two nights so it may be working...

featherbag · 26/01/2012 19:10

Engel apologies if teaching you to suck eggs, but I was told lots of oaty foods, porridge, flapjack, Hob Nobs, that sort of thing, and it did help when I was expressing to take milk in to Sam in NICU!

Bit of a crappy day, Sam is now 16lbs 9ozs and the HV more or less called me a liar when I insisted I'm not giving him solids and he only gets 5 x 8oz bottles per day. I may have been a little rude to her Blush

Engelsmeisje · 26/01/2012 19:21

thanks for all the advice ladies.
signing off for the night (and looking forward to my Starbucks tomorrow Grin )

golemmings · 26/01/2012 19:40

Fb your hv is a fool. A was 17lb at 13 weeks and he's breastfed. Only a little rude? I'm impressed. Didn't know about oats. That's interesting. Might go back onto oat milk rather than soya but certainly porridge for breakfast tomorrow.

Sche, think it was you living near ashbourne. You lucky thing. It's beautiful round there. We used to live in leek. Anybody else here in the midlands? Could do a meet

golemmings · 26/01/2012 19:42

...up around stoke?

Scheherezade · 26/01/2012 19:47

cheekydino that's the kind if experiment I like Grin love the excuse to devour a pack of hobnobs too...

golemmings yes we're very lucky, the area we live in is amazing. Foothills of the peaks and all that.

LittlePebble · 26/01/2012 20:05

Hello, apologies in advance for a me post but gah! Am so frustrated went to doctor who seemed to know f all about milk blisters, she got cross that I'd tackled it with a needle last week, cross that I mentioned id researched it online and then went on to check me and ds for thrush (none found), for mastitis (none there as its what I'm trying to avoid), then told me not to pierce it again, gave me cream for thrush (just in case) and sent me away telling me to call her when it got infected and she'd prescribe me some antibiotics that would "make me feel dreadful".
How on earth is that in any way fixing the bloody problem letting me go on with one side engorged and unable to feed/express it out as its blocked?!Angry
I've ignored her as it hurt so much and followed instructions on kellymom website and pierced it again so now it is ok after a feed (no hard lumps) but still have spot on nipple which hurts.
So frustrated at her and hv yesterday. Sad

How annoying lp sounds like you're on top of it though. Can you try any bf advisors? If you can't feed/express you're at risk of developing an abscess!

Jnice · 26/01/2012 23:42

Oh pebble what an awful experience. So sorry for you Sad

Is expressing/feeding too painful? Will lecithin help?

Sorry all, haven't had time to read everything. Been to emerg with L as he has a fever. Called nurse line who told me to go in. He has cold and fever but also an ear jnfection. I'm so glad he passed 3 months (Sunday) as they routinely do a spinal tap on babies presenting with fever under 3m (!!!). It was bad enough what they did to him without that Sad

We have antibiotics and lots of paracetamol. He's nursing and sleepin and I'm wasted.

Penelope1980 · 26/01/2012 23:49

em thanks for the info on GF! I don't think it would work for us though as it means waking up earlier than A does, he's rarely up before 8.30 which suits me fine!

pebble ow, hope you're feeling ok.

I think I have a teething baby! About once a day we are having a screaming episode, he has red cheeks, drools everywhere, the runs, and keeps batting the side of his face. Poor baby - it sounds so sore. Teething rings help a little bit, but not always. Poor darling.

Penelope1980 · 26/01/2012 23:50

jnice poor L - hopefully you get some sleep now! Did they say what was wrong?

LittlePebble · 27/01/2012 00:09

Oh jnice that's awful hope L gets better soon. I bet you are exhausted, but I'm relieved he didn't have spinal tap that sounds awful.
Thanks for your info will try and get lethicin tomorrow xx

Tried to bring P's bedtime forward an hour, all it seems to have done though is make her wake up more/for longer :(

She woke at 12.30am and has been feeding for an hour and is still at it! Can't imagine she will then last until morning whenever she does decide to finish.

Horrid GP Pebble :(

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 27/01/2012 06:51

Penelope I use nelsons teething powders I rub it onto mhairi's gums and it seems to settle her.

BB3 · 27/01/2012 07:37

Jnice how is L this morning?

Pebble any improvement?

Hope everyone's ok x

BB3 · 27/01/2012 07:40

Oh and nelsons is THE only thing that got me through teething with ds, behind else touched it (dentinox just made him sick and teetha isn't quite the same!) I've got 2 boxes ready as it's like gold dust here xx

Penelope1980 · 27/01/2012 07:44

edward I'll try that thanks!

I just found out one of the other babies in my buggy fit class has died, probably of SIDS - he was 7 months old. I didn't know his mum well apart from to have the odd chat too, but feel quite shaken up by the whole thing as well as soooo sorry for his parents!

LittlePebble · 27/01/2012 08:02

Oh my god Pene!
That's awful, seven months old? Did the baby have any problems previously? I didn't realise SIDS could happen that late......SadSadSad

Thanks everyone for support over GP/boob. Posted on bf thread and have had some good suggestions from people on there so going to spend day with cotton wool soaked in olive oil down my bra, hot nappies on pre feed and cold post feed etc.
I haven't had a block this morning and E is feeding better so obviously did right thing by using needle .

Hope L is better this morning Jnice?
BB3 did you have a better night?
Cheshire did you get any sleep?

OP posts:
Engelsmeisje · 27/01/2012 08:41

pebble that's awful! how frustrating.."when it gets infected"...isn't prevention better than waiting for it to get infected?!

jnice hope l is okay. must have been scary having to go to a&e.

penelope how shocking. poor, poor parents.

Think I over-reacted yesterday. feeding was fine last night Smile

BB3 · 27/01/2012 08:44

Oh penelope - how awful, no wonder you're shaken by the news, how awful for that poor family xx

Glad it's improved for you pebble

Better nights here but very miserable girls this morning Sad
