New Year - New Thread!!

Hope you all had a lovely festive season!

I went for a nice walk in the park today as it was lovely & sunny. Sneezed violently half way round and realised my pelvic floor integrity ain't what it used to be. Which got me thinking about New Years resolutions!

  1. DO MORE PELVIC FLOOR EXERCISES!!!
  2. Get Toned and Fit
  3. Get pregnant
  4. Sort out the garden

Obviousy number 3 may have an impact on 1 and 2!!

hi all! glad to hear that polly is on the mend and that you're medicine free pjsmum! hope the sleep improves now!!!

wombat, we're doing a bit of signing, though have got a bit lax! linus signs duck, milk and drink
really must make more of an effort with it i think!

I think they must have a bit of a growth spurt at this age... what with all the waking in the night etc etc. Linus has been eating for Britain and drinking tons of milk. and he has definitely shot up in height again recently.

Got my blood tests back today, nothing wrong with me or my thyroid. just slightly anaemic, as ever!

hi there, just found this site today - so much useful info on one page! Anybody have any advice on getting a 10 1/2 month old baby to sleep in her cot - Everynight is the same, she falls asleep and sleeps happily for a few hours in it but as soon as I begin to drift off ( I swear she has a sixth sense for the exact moment ) Up she gets and won't settle until in my bed. Tried controlled crying once - complete disaster! Also live with my inlaws so a bit tricky to leave baby crying.
Oh no, my first time on here and I've done nothing but moan!

Hazellnut · 20/01/2006 15:07

Hi Hanjan - welcome to the thread !! as you can probably tell lots of us are having sleep issues at the moment with our little ones so if you find the magic cure let us know ! Although dd did sleep through last night (although don't want to jinx myself - she'll probably be back to her old tricks tonight !). Don't worry about moaning - it means you'll fit right in here with us lot of winge bags !!

Her birthday cake is in the oven !! I bought this party cakes book yesterday and its full of childrens birthday cakes and has patterns and everything ! I am doing a white bunny rabbit as her comforter is a white bunny rattle so thought this appropriate. SL - if you're still thinking of doing a 1 it has a recipe and pattern which I could photo copy or scan in for you (and if anyone else wants anything can do likewise - it has all the old favourites !!).

that sounds like a lovely day Tipex - I think I am going to start doing some soft play stuff with dd as I think she'd love it.

Right, cake is a bit flat .... harumph but I have just chucked loads of icing on it and then going to put eyes and nose etc and hope for the best. Grrrr.... why didn't I buy it ? Think IU remember asking this with the christening cake !!! Can just picture my god daughter (aged 3) saying 'whats that ?'.... but she'd better not as I've done party bags for the kids coming just because, at the grand old age of 3, she might be disappointed at going to a party and not getting one !!

Yikes, just remember this time exactly a year ago, I was just being admitted to hospital - and its 4 days to dd's first birthday !! Blimey... can't believe it !!

Hazellnut · 20/01/2006 17:28

PS - heartily recommend buying the book by the way as it will last years !! Although happy to send recipes etc for anyone who doesn't want to invest yet !!

PPS - Meet up is a good idea...

starlover · 20/01/2006 19:54

welcome hanjan! we're all a load of miseries here too, so you'll fit right in

hazellnut... i bet the cake will be fab! Woudl love the recipe etc for number one cake! i definitely think i will need to make a practice one first though!!! hahaha

tipex... sounds like you had a really lovely time! Those days when it all fits together and everything goes well sometimes seem to be few and far between don't they? Linus loves softplay too, and there is a local place that a few of us have been going to each week which is only £1.50 to get in... bargain!

I was watching Linus today and i just can't get over how absolutely fantastic he is! I nearly made myself cry! lol I just can't imagine not having him. so weird that he'll be one soon...

ooooh oooh and i rang up today to book a viewing on an absolutely PERFECT house today! waiting for a call back from them after they've spoken to the vendors... so fingers crossed! it isn't in one of our top areas, but the house itself is perfect.
getting a bit nervous now!

definitely up for a meet too

oooh i can't help it though! it has 3 bedrooms AND a study! which means that bedroom 3 doesn't have to be dp's computer room and i can have another baby! lol
BUT it is very reasonably priced so am thinking there must be a catch!

gossifer · 20/01/2006 21:06

hello all and happy weekend!
starlover - ooooooh how exciting, good luck, will be joining you in some shape or form on the househunting! just have to decide if we are gonna do the big 'move to the country' now or move to a bigger place in london and have some more babies here!!! (decisions decisions) but had the estate round to value this place today and all good

tipex, leon is the same in the car, totally, one of us sits next to him and entertains him, but sometimes he just wails, and we're on the M4 or something, i totally know where you're at; gone are the days when we'd drive from london to cardiff and he'd sleep the whole way! your description of your day sounds wonderful - its so great when it works

angeliz - how are you feeling? please keep us posted!

hazellnut - good luck for the party! might steal a recipe from you, just planning it all, everyone has replied in the +ve to our invites so a full house!! aaaaaaaaaaaargh but definately want to do a fab cake!

nik - i so agree with you about spring, felt like it was here today, walked back from singing in my t-shirt! oh the joys of sun

wombat - we didn't do signing - but you've made me maybe next time

and hello hanjan - welcome - we all moan! we're good at it!

roosmum & pjsmum - so glad those little ones are better! hope you have a good weekend!

futurity and BiL - how are you?

starlover been thinking about what you wrote, i watched leon today and i felt like he was trying to talk to me! he has changed so much this week, almost walking but really trying to communicate- my heart wells up and i cannot believe how lucky we are! healthy, beautiful, funny and crazy ones!

but - leons hits me and bites me! anyone get that? beginning to think i'll have to say no and move him away and be really firm (how????????????)

xxxx

starlover · 20/01/2006 21:09

now gossifer... i think you should move down to sussex! think what you could get for your money down here!!!! a nice big place in the country, but not too far from london... plenty of room for more babies! you know you want to

starlover · 20/01/2006 21:13

gossifer · 20/01/2006 21:14

leon loves to play with my nipples in bed in the morning (TMI?????)
tipex, how do you not smile or laugh though! one of my probs is that he will hit me with whatever he's playing with

aaaaaaaaah problem there, we don't do ironing, will have to think of suitable dreaded chore.........

starlover · 20/01/2006 21:19

Linus had a big marker pen today and was sato n my lap while i was dressing him and kept flinging the fdamn thing back over his head so it hit me in the face!

gossifer · 20/01/2006 21:21

i'm actually worried he's gonna hit me that hard i bruise (and i've already done the trying to explain the peculiar bruise on your face malarky before!)

starlover · 20/01/2006 21:23

lol yes imagine, "we're a bit worried about you mrs x, you seem to have a lot of unexplained bruises"

"ah yes, that's just the baby"
