New Year - New Thread!!

Hope you all had a lovely festive season!

I went for a nice walk in the park today as it was lovely & sunny. Sneezed violently half way round and realised my pelvic floor integrity ain't what it used to be. Which got me thinking about New Years resolutions!

  1. DO MORE PELVIC FLOOR EXERCISES!!!
  2. Get Toned and Fit
  3. Get pregnant
  4. Sort out the garden

Obviousy number 3 may have an impact on 1 and 2!!

SL, think i'd like your taste! we have a rattan sleigh bed bought a few years back. have you looked at andsotobed? they have some stunning stuff. my nearly sofa is

\link{http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?topcategoryId=15585&catalogId=10103&storeId=7&productId=60962&langId=-20&parentCats=155851618616189\this one} apparently dearest MIL went to ikea this week & pronouced it hideous Grin which obviously makes me keener on it!

ahhh, linus's bedroom - so many things you could do! roo has a yellow room (painted before he was born, so had to be unisex) with animals stuck all around the room, which i made from craft foam copied off his grobag. lots of stars too, also foam, some stripey voiles (ikea) & a yellow blind. white cotbed/wardrobe/shelves. vom-inducing blue carpet which is everywhere upstairs & desperately needs to go (inherited from previous owners, yuk).
if i was doing it now, i'd have lots of blue & red gingham, have you seen the white co. catalogue? lovely bedroom stuff for kids in there.

roosmum · 03/03/2006 22:01

sofa would be sand colour tho, not brown as in photo.

starlover · 03/03/2006 22:02

that's nice roosmum! and wipe clean too... ahh how practical!

I can't decide whether to be very classic with Linus's room... or whether to go all out with jungle theme or something.
do LOVE the white co stuff

roosmum · 03/03/2006 22:04

classic!
think it ages better for them.
also easy to change bits/accessories as & when.
imo

starlover · 03/03/2006 22:05

yeah this is very true!

i have so many things i want to do.. and such a small budget.. it isn't fair! lol

roosmum · 03/03/2006 22:06

wipe clean = essential!

wooden floor + leather sofa = spill your red wine with no fallout!

Angeliz · 03/03/2006 22:06

Hazellnut, hope dd is o.k soon+
Tipex, poor you. DD is terrible with sleep too at the moment. She was awake from 1.30 till 3-just crawling and chatting and headbutting me 'affectionately', then up at 5. That's pretty much the norm lately too!
The blond, i like your new name as i always thought of Brother in law too.
Starlover, that sounds really scarySad (over a week ago now but i'm just catching up about linus in A+E!). Do hope he's fully recovered.

Tipex, after re reading your post too, i hope your worries about ds are stopped soon. It must be awful to think he's just not himslef. Mind you, tiredness does do wired things to people so..

Angeliz · 03/03/2006 22:08

On a lighter note, i had my dating scan today and am 14+ weeks and due on 31st August now Shock Saw the baby and as dd1 was with us, the baby 'waved' at her. We have a clear pic of it's little body and head with tiny clear hand in the backgroundSmile

Never ceases to amaze me those scans!

starlover · 03/03/2006 22:08

darn just saw lovely bed on andsotobed.... unfortunately it was £3,750

Angeliz · 03/03/2006 22:09

Starlover, i love my new sleigh bed. It's so low too so not far for babies to fall.

starlover · 03/03/2006 22:09

oooh angeliz it might come on my birthday! (28th)

Angeliz · 03/03/2006 22:10

Grin maybe
I'm quite pleased really as it was due exactly when dd1 started School. This way she gets to know the baby for a good week and amuse Amelia.

roosmum · 03/03/2006 22:11

oh angeliz, that sounds gorgeous!

you're due on our wedding anniversary now! will be 4 yrs this year Smile

how much SL?! the one i want is about 500. not much chance of getting one tho. we only have a double which for me, dh & roo doesn't seem big enough these days!
angeliz, roo does that sometimes too...comes & headbutts me, sticks fingers up my nose etc, if i ignore him long enough...

TheBlonde · 03/03/2006 22:15

Angeliz - excited for you! I found the pic of my first scan this week and it made me quite broody

Oh thanks allSmile
Roosmum, you'll have to make a bet with starlover, your Anniversary or her BirthdayGrin My other 2 were on theri due dates so you are in the lead.
Tipex, i do hope it's just a developmental thing and that you are more re assured soon. i get how worried you'd be as if i thought Amelia was just acting 'different' i'd worry.

Theblonde, have another one then, youmknow it makes senceWink

Angeliz · 03/03/2006 22:38

Tipex, about coping.
TBH, until i saw the baby on the screen today, i just haven't had time to think about it. With dd1 my life revolved around the pregnancy. With dd2 i had lots of other things to do but still read up and stuff. Ths one will just pop out before i realise.

No seriously though, i think today i truly though, WOW, there's no going back, we have 3 now!

Hazellnut · 04/03/2006 09:19

Angeliz - that's very exciting Grin.

Tipex - that laying down on the floor thing, I am sure it is just a developmental thing - dd has been doing this a lot too and when she started I too thought there was something wrong with her but a lot of her friends do it too. Really don't know why - maybe just because they can !?

starlover · 05/03/2006 19:51

tipex.. Linus does that lying on the floor thing as well! maybe it is a developmental thing. and maybe he has just figured out that the car isn't worth making that much fuss over! lol

picnikel · 06/03/2006 21:30

Hi everyone!

Dd does the lying on the floor thing too!! I've noticed a "change" in her too, was just thinking today that she doesn't seem the same and I'm having to alter the way I am with her too - she's just less of a baby and starting to be a bit more like a child but it's really hard to put my finger on exactly what the change is.

We had a pretty awful holiday I'm afraid. When we got to the resort we found out there was a winter vomiting bug outbreak there. You can probably guess what happened next and it all went downhill from there with the added bonus of such appalling weather that the resort was closed for 2 days. We were late leaving yesterday due to such heavy snow that the road was blocked (you should have plenty snow when you go, Hazellnut!!) so missed our flight home. We were re-routed to Gatwick and when we got there we were informed that we'd be going back to Edinburgh by coach AND via Brmingham & Manchester airports (estimated travel time 12 hours ShockShockShock!!!). So much for Esprit being the family friendly travel company as we were all with small children and had already been going since 5am. Oh, and they weren't going to provide any food or drink either Angry.

Needless to say we decided this was unacceptable and managed to book ourselves on a flight up later (& I doubt we'll be getting that money back either) but I am not amused and will be writing a very rude letter to Esprit Angry. In fact I was so p*ssed off yesterday that we commited the ultimate mumsnet sin of going to McDonalds while we were waiting for our flight and introduced dd to the joys of french fries BlushGrin.

Aaah - the joys of travelling with small children! We'll be staying in the UK for our next few trips I think Grin!

Tipex, this sleep thing really sounds ghastly. I think I'd be reaching for the sedative if I was in your shoes (or else jumping off a bridge). How are you coping at work, that must be so hard.

Hazellnut · 06/03/2006 22:40

oh no nik - that sounds terrible AND that's the second time today I have heard someone going to complain about Esprit ! Which resort were you in ? I hope you got at least some skiing in.

Sorry to hear the sleep is still bad Tipex...

starlover · 07/03/2006 19:16

I'm not really one for cyber-hugs... but if I was i'd be giving Nik and Tipex one! (or several?)

I'm sorry you had such a miserable holiday nik :( You should have dropped in for a cuppa on your way back, i'm about 10 mins drive from gatwick! lol
I know what you mean about staying in UK though... not sure i'm brave enough to venture abroad with Linus yet

I think we should have a collection for tipex's night nanny!
