New Year - New Thread!!

Hope you all had a lovely festive season!

I went for a nice walk in the park today as it was lovely & sunny. Sneezed violently half way round and realised my pelvic floor integrity ain't what it used to be. Which got me thinking about New Years resolutions!

  1. DO MORE PELVIC FLOOR EXERCISES!!!
  2. Get Toned and Fit
  3. Get pregnant
  4. Sort out the garden

Obviousy number 3 may have an impact on 1 and 2!!

Hi all, Hi Roosmum!

Well DS's hands look okay today so we seem to have survived without injury, phew
There are just so many hazards for the little people

He woke at 3am but stayed asleep til 10.30 so we've had a lazy day here and a nice roast dinner to finish off the day

Tipex - I think they could easily be doing all this waking even if bottle fed. At least we don't have to faff about warming milk in the night
Wishing everyone a restful night

roosmum · 26/02/2006 21:30

tipex & BiL, sorry to hear sleep is pear-shaped...sleep here is really variable, always 1 wake-up (maybe 1.30/2am), sometimes 2. i've been feeding at night too, ever since roo was ill. he would go without at night i think, but it seems easier not to try atm. i'm still waiting for him to magically crack it himself agree that i reckon it's the bf tbh, which is a shame really, but i'm a stubborn cow (roosmoo!) & not giving up. roo won't touch regular cowsmilk in the day & i'm no way giving formula, so boobs it is for now!

tipex, i once read something on motherhood that your post reminded me of - that the decision to have a child was the decision to forever have your heart walking around outside your body. that choked me up at the time (i was pg) & still does now - now that i really know what that feels like.

& lol at your jeans incident tipex!
& nice one SL on your house buying! how exciting! which one did you go for, the one you had some worries about, or not?

ps, tipex i saw you on a name thread right before i logged on here - is ds's name reuben or lucas?? sorry to nose, but lucas was my choice for roo, only dh vetoed (niece is lucy).

Blondeinlondon · 26/02/2006 21:34

We are mixing formula here cos I can't be bothered to express anymore and the freezer supply has run out
Reaction to a the sight of bottle of milk here is the same as to a bare breast - DS's urgent why-am-I-having-to-wait cry

starlover · 28/02/2006 14:26

hello everyone!
i am knackered having been at a&e with Linus until 1am this morning!!!
Was quite poorly last night... very high temp, lethargic, refusing to eat or drink all day, cold hands and feet, cough, rapid breathing...
doctor and paed suspected meningitis for ages (scariest few hours of my life!!!) but after being dosed up with calpol, nurofen and dioralyte he seemed to perk up a bit and temp went down so we were allowed home. They decided it was probably just a nasty virus and a bit of a throat infection
He's on a 24hr access though, which means that if he gets worse we can go straight back in and see paed (bypassing a&e)... he seems a bit better today but temp still a bit high and he's still very placid and lethargic.

bil glad ds's hands are looking ok! it's so scary when they hurt themselves isn't it?

roosmum... lovely to xee you around again! yes we're going for the worry-some hosuse! spoke to a local surveyor who said he doesn't know of any probs in the area with that type of house.. so we're all ready and raring to move!

Blondeinlondon · 28/02/2006 15:07

Hello Starlover - hope Linus gets well soon, poor thing

Hazellnut · 01/03/2006 19:55

oh dear SL - I hope Linus is better now ?! THere's so many horrid things going around - we have been suffering too as you will have seen from my other thread. Well I guess today IS 1st March so that must mean spring surely ?????????

starlover · 01/03/2006 20:11

Linus has been much perkier today... eaten much better than he has for the last week! so hopefully that means he is on the mend

sorry dd is poorly though hazellnut :(

Hazellnut · 01/03/2006 20:16

glad Linus is on the mend - tbh dd is too, she seems fine today, it was just the rash that made me worry. I don't think it helps that dh is never home from work by anna's bedtime so i don't get a second opinion. I needed someone to look at it and say 'oh yes she's had that before' which is what I think but needed someone else to say it too IYSWIM.

starlover · 01/03/2006 20:19

yeah i know what you mean.

on a lighter note, i already know that Linus and angeliz's dd2 enjoyed some pancakes yesterday... anyone else's LO's try them?

Hazellnut · 01/03/2006 20:20

No pancakes here - I am doing a 2 week atkins blitz (until we go skiing) so I wouldn't let ANYONE have pancakes in my presence !!

starlover · 01/03/2006 20:24

Shock mean mummy! lol

Linus LOVED his

Hazellnut · 01/03/2006 20:31

no - just weak willed !!

TheBlonde · 02/03/2006 09:22

We had pancakes a day late but none for DS!!

How is the atkins going HN?

I have given up booze for lent Shock

Atkins going fine I think - first 3 days ok lost 2 or 3 pounds but went to a friends for lunch today so had to fall off teh wagon and eat carbs Shock - yum and a small piece of chocolate cake fell my way Blush and dh has just rung to say I must need red wine for my sore throat... see my previous comment about weak willed.... will try and keep off the wine. Giving it up for lent Shock -t hat's a whole 40 days and nights you know ?! I take it you have changed your name BiL ?

Shock at your nights Tipex. You poor things - really don't know what to suggest, is he teething (that old chestnut) !! On the name front, there is a little boy in our swimming group with the same name (the shorter) and is about the same age and also little.... are you sure you're in the midlands and don't go swimming me with??? He is blonde - is your ds ?? I always think of you when I hear his name though !!

Hazellnut · 02/03/2006 21:05

PS - tipex if you are still around, babies DO get rashes after viruses don't they ?? Still trying to decide whether to take her to docs tomorrow but am sure it is just viral and don't really want to sit around for ages to be told it is (that's not a criticism of doctors btw) ........

good luck Sad

and thanks !

TheBlonde · 02/03/2006 22:27

Hello, Yes i have name changed. Fed up of being abbreviated to the same as brother-in-law. Was thinking about a change then the name changing thread came up

Gotta go, baby yelling

Hazellnut · 03/03/2006 18:27

How was last night Tipex ?

Took dd to the docs and it is a viral rash - they gave her a thorough check over though so that's good. Thanks for your advice last night Tipex.

Just had sad news from a friend who's wife had to deliver their baby at about 14 weeks Sad. It makes you realise just how lucky you are.

starlover · 03/03/2006 20:00

hazellnut... so sorry to hear about your friend :( I had an early miscarriage (6/7wks) before I had Linus and it was just the most horrible experience. I can't even begin to imagine what it must be like further on in pregnancy :(

and :( for ds and tipex. maybe you need aloha's night nanny??? I think I know what yo mean about him not being quite himself though... Linus has been like that a couple of times but I never figured out quite what it was. It coul dbe just that he is tired... are you quite relaxed with him? or do you think that any tiredness related stress is rubbing off on him?
I know a couple of days ago i was really stressed and feeling a bit down and Linus was quite quiet and kept coming up to me and just leaning his head on me.. they can definitely tell when you're not feeling quite the ticket

roosmum · 03/03/2006 21:36

oh tipex, i really feel for you!
what do you do when he wakes, is he feeding every hour too?? if he's feeding, do you ever just fall asleep mid-feed? we've often done that. it sounds rotten Sad i so hope you get a better night, tonight maybe! roo is currently on a 1-2 wake thing, which i can manage...
& btw i LIKE your taste in names, zac is another i'd seriously consider. dh wanted noah. i'd like jude for another boy (one day, far into the future!!).

Sad for your friend HN, sometimes i just have to think of the awful things that happen to other people & feel SO lucky - so i miss out on a bit of sleep, no big deal! keeps things in perspective for me anyway.

& hi to theblonde - you could be 'blondie'!

have fun skiing HN, if you're going anytime soon, would so love to be going away too Grin

SL, glad the house is sorted, are you virtually filling it with funky new stuff?? we're trying to buy a new sofa atm, a corner modular thing so might be heading to ikea tomorrow, if dh is up to it!

starlover · 03/03/2006 21:42

roosmum... yes! have seen \link[http://www.johnlewis.com/Furniture/Living+Room/Living+Room/Sofa+Beds/230210101/Product.aspx\this} very funky (but rather overpriced sofa) that i LOVE! not sure i'll be allowed it though

and also need a lovely big new bed... am thinking a nice sleigh bed

and what to do with Linus's room? too many options!
